Snow Leopard 10.6.8 upgrade to Mavericks

Question

I have an iMac circa Nov 2011.  I had a defective hard drive and I needed the replacement.  However, my question is that I desperately need to upgrade to Mavericks.  Is there anyway that I can down load Mavericks to a USB stick or a CD, DVD or whatever?  Anyone there know?????????

Since you have not gotten back to me I will make my recommendation that best that I can, loosely based on what info you have given.
First, you need to figure out a way to backup all your data first.
If you have an external drive, then copy all of your data from your Mac's internal drive to the external drive.
If, you need to, purchase another external hard drive ( preferrably a FireWire external drive as these are faster and, somewhat, more reliable than USB models) and either copy over all of your important data to this new drive OR use a data cloning app, like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, to make a bootable and exact copy (clone) of your Mac's internal hard drive, so you have both a complete data backup and a way to boot an OS X from an external hard drive. The clone will, also, clone all of your installled applications, as well.
Once you have created a proper backup, if you have the original install discs that came with your Mac, you are going to insert the disc, after it mounts to the desktop, you are going to restart your Mac.
Hold down the C key before your Mac chimes for the restart and hold it down until your Mac boots from the CD.
When your Mac boots up from the CD, the installer will launch, quit the installer by going to OS X top main menu under the word Installer click and scroll to the Quit menu option.
The on the same menu, click Disk Utility and proceed to erase and reformat your hard drive as an OS X extended format (journaled) with a GUID partition scheme.
Once your Mac's drive is reformatted, Quit Disk Utility and relaunch the Installer app and proceed to do a complete, clean install of OS X.
Once installation is complete, use the Software Update feature, located in the OS X System Preferences Panel to update both the OS X version, any security updates and any Apple software updates, as well.
You can try and copy back all of your data back manually from the external hard drive and try copying back your applications folder from the external drive, as well.
Those applications (from your previous applications folder on the external,hard drive ) that may or may not work after the clean install of OS X, you will have to reinstall from scratch.
