Snow Leopard & Adobe
The SL upgrade is not doing a whole lot for my faith one way or another.
I have a iMac 2.8Ghz and a MBP.
I installed SL on the MBP 1st as I had a big issue with sleeping/waking and there were rumours SL would fix the problem (it doesn't).
However all my apps worked fine except Dreamweaver MX 2004 and associated flash, shockwave. Searching around it seems the general consensus was tough - go buy new software. I'm an amateur not a professional and laying out that type of cash is not on. I'll find another program.
Two weeks ago I started the process to change my iMac over to SL - not easy Time Machine did not exactly cover itself in glory although the major culprit was an intermittently sick and now replaced iomega drive. However I got there and everything worked.... INCLUDING the Dreamweaver!!!!
But today for no reason I can fathom (it is the time honoured I never touched and now it's broke) None of the previously working Adobe CS2 apps run. I'm completely at a loss. Dreamweaver still works but not on the MBP and CS2 works on the MBP but not the iMac. Does anyone have any thoughts? A very very unhappy former Mac Zealot.

The general approach at this time is to ask if you've checked for any problematic fonts (all languages) with Apple's Font Book (look in the Applications folder). Find and remove all duplicates also.
Start there to be sure all fonts that are in play come out with a clean bill of health.
Also, don't hesisate to perform wholesale deletion of old and/or little used fonts - be skeptical of anything that has come from Office 2008, including those related to an Equation Editor installation.
By all means be sure your 3rd party apps are Snow Leopard compatible and know the rumors are that 10.6.2 will be play better w/fonts in some cases.

Snow Leopard + Adobe CS4 +Freezes
I'm a Graphic Designer and use Adobe CS4 apps. While using Illustrator on my iMac (2006), the app freezes after about ten minutes. I'm thinking I should just UNINSTALL Snow Leopard since it worked fine before. I've updated everything since this problem began with no results.
If I uninstall will Tiger remain?

Before jumping down that bandwagon, remember CS4 requires a lot of RAM, and 1 GB is the minimum for Snow Leopard. You can try to make sure everything is running for 32bit:

It might work, then again might not. As you can see CS4's record with Snow Leopard is not that great:

Font issues with Snow Leopard, Adobe and more
Since purchasing my new 27" iMac with Snow Leopard and instlaling Adobe Creative Suites 4, I have had numerous font issues. Apple has created huge problems for designers and printers that must use postscript type 1 fonts for helvetica and helvetica neue. Adobe Fireworks crashes upon exit since upgrade to Snow Leopard

Since I've ugraded my MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard, Adobe Fireworks always crashes when I quit the program - anybody else experiencing something similar? it's really quite annoying - before, everything worked fine.

First, go to the Adobe web site and look for a 10.6 update for compatibility with Fireworks.
Contact Adobe Customer Support
Next, locate the Adobe Fireworks preference file.

How can I remove Snow leopard from my Mac, it crash all important programs
Please tell me how I can remove Snow Leopard from my machine & revert back to Leopard 10.5.8
Since I loaded Snow leopard, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Quark & Mail all quit over & over again. I never had ANY of these issues before loading snow leopard. I rely daily on the programs I listed. I am not saying once in a while, but constantly; opening the programs, exporting, placing graphics, emailing, you name it, it quits the program I am in. I keep sending apple the crash reports, but I am afraid I have reached my end. (Apple must have a folder fu;l of crashes with my email address in it by now.)
To maintain my sanity PLEASE tell me there is a way to do this without risking loosing any of my data.
I do have time machine hooked up.

Second, there is no way to successfully degrade an OS to a previous version. You would have to install anew a previous OS, thereby erasing all your data. Then you would take that version up as far as you want to go.
Of course if you've been using Time Machine you can recover to the prior system and retain your files using that.
Best of all would be to have a firewire external drive and use an app like this to make a clone on. No worries then if one wants to go back before any major changes very precisely.

Older Versions of DW and Snow Leopard
I received a MacBook as an early Christmas present but I've always had PCs so I don't have any software for it. I really don't need nor can I justify the expense of the current version of DW. I'm thinking maybe I could pick up some older software at a reasonable price. What I don't know is which of the previous versions are compatible with Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.2).
Can anyone help?
Thanks!The best way to run Dreamweaver on a Macbook Pro is to purchase a copy as a "crossgrade" with your serial number from your PC version where you deactivate the PC version.
There may be older versions of Dreamweaver (and I'm thinking CS3) out there in the sales pipeline that you can get at a discount but CS4 has been out there for so long that I wouldn't really trust those copies. I bought a number of CS3 applications about a month after Adobe released CS4 because I had a G4 Macintosh that would not run the CS4 suite of applications. I have separate licenses for Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver and Adobe Bridge as well as Acrobat, so I may have paid close to a suite price for the individual applications. I also have Adobe After Effects 7.0 and I think that came out with CS.
So here is what I would do:
Avoid eBay.
Go to http://www.google.com/products
Do a search for the Adobe applications you are looking for
Look for reputable merchants and don't deal with anyone who won't guarantee that the software is genuine.
Make your purchase.
Hope for the best.

Simply make your purchase of the CS4 application(s) that you need.
Here's the deal with Snow Leopard: Adobe applications were crashing under Snow Leopard until Apple released the 6.0.2 update. Things are much more stable now. So if you have a licensed copy of CS4, make sure you have applied all recent Software updates that affect OS X. -
Adobe bridge cc is not working on my mac snow leopard version 10.6.8. In other words the program will not open, but all other programs i have been able to open just fine

Recently I upgraded from snow leopard to Mavericks . Since the upgrade my Adobe Creative Suite 4 will not launch any programs. I downloaded adobe license recovery it says " this program is no longer supported " .
At this point I am ready to go back to snow leopard if that will fix the problem. What do I do ?A long thread with some fixes for various problems including licenseing, it may help.

Well first you have to figure out what is wrong with the machine and solve that problem first.
Your post is very vague on what occured, and there are many types of "crashes" it really depends upon what see on the screen and what the hardware does, we can't see it to tell you, so you have to tell us.
I suggest you run through these user tips and provide more information about your hardware.

Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
If this is going way over your head, there are local PC/Mac techs that will assist you for a fee, Apple only does hardware repairs and is advised to use them if you discover it is, especially if under warranty/AppleCare.
Hard drive and RAM upgrades can be handled yourself or by a outside tech in many older models of Mac, but don't expect Apple to cover the new parts.

I say to highlight more than one if you can because if the PDF you highlight was made by using Acrobat, it will change all PDF's made by Acrobat but if you have one made by some other product, it may not change them to open with Acrobat.
So in other words, at some point you may have to do it to a PDF made by some other product. -

10.5.8 is Leopard, not Snow Leopard. You need the Snow Leopard DVD;

Hi I've just upgraded my MacBook Pro from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Now my installed programs:- Quarkxpress 6.5 - Adobe creative suite CS2 - Adobe Acrobat 7.0 professional and Microsoft Office 2004 will not open - I get a banner saying not supported by power mac. Can anyone please help me I really need these programs for my work. Thank you!

i think it is bad new for you. if it's any consilation i went through the same thing when i loaded mountain lion when it first came out. i think the problem is that mountain lion is a pure 64bit operating system and the software you have is 32bit. earlier os's were able to emulate 32bit but the new system does not. the answer is new software. i did it and it cost me a load of money and much angst so your not alone. -

When I try to print to Adobe PDF printer 7.0 I get this message: The printer software was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall the printer’s software or contact the manufacturer for assistance.
None of the old tricks from Leopard works...
Any help? Please...This is a known issue found in beta testing of Snow Leopard. The Acrobat PDF printer does not work. Apple said it will be up to Adobe to update it to work in SL.

Adobe Reader Plugins for Safari 5 on Snow Leopard
Our software uses Adobe Reader to open, edit, and save Pdf Forms. Most of our customer base is on Windows but we now have some MAC users as well. Everything works fine except using Safari 5 on Snow Leopard. It appears as if the plug ins are not loading properly or at all when Reader 9 is installed. When a user goes to open a PDF Form, nothing happens.
My personal Macbook which I have at the office, is Leopard with Safari 5 and when I download Reader 9, I can see the plugins in Safari and everthing works fine. Any suggestions?
ThanksOn Snow Leopard 10.6, you need to run Safari in 32 bit mode to get the Adobe Reader Plugin to load and launch properly.
To do this,
1) exit Safari.
2) in the Finder go to your Applications folder, select Safari and do File->Get Info
3) Check 'Open in 32-bit mode' in the General pane of that dialog
4) Relaunch Safari
5) Under the Safari Help->Installed Plug-ins you should now see the Adobe Reader plugin support.
I am able to get Safari to open forms inline in Reader this way. I am not able to get the Adobe Forms with Adobe Javascript running in this mode. Any insight on how this might be done would be helpful. It does work in the Standalone Reader, but so far no luck enabling it in the Safari plugin. -
Adobe Photoshop 3...Snow Leopard, iMac
When I installed Snow Leopard on my iMac today, all my Adobe products disappeared -- InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator, Reader, the entire suite. I have my box and serial numbers, but can't find my install disk. What do you suggest?

MaryAnn KohlI can say that 10.6.4 has worked out the kinks for my white 24" iMac with 7300GT card. From what others have posted here, it appears the x1600 issues have been resolved as well. I was running 10.6.2 prior to this update and advising everyone else of same. Of course, 10.6.2 and SL was not perfect, with some issues cropping up here and there. IMHO the 10.6.4 release is equivalent to the 10.5.3 release by comparison. In fact, I upgraded my Mac mini after my good experiences with 10.6.4 on my iMac. Not sure if this helps or not.
