Snow Leopard and Adobe CS4 print to PDF

Hi all,
I recently upgraded to Leopard and noticed that while using photoshop and illustrator i can no longer choose Print->Print to PDF... I have to use this option because i print files via a network at school and I cannot send big .psd and .ai files. Any suggestions? I did some reading and discovered that Snow Leopard blocks that functionality.. so is there a work around or another way that I can print my files without them being really large.
Thanks
Matt

The PDF drop down does not appear in Illustrator or Photoshop... I have access to it in Acrobat.
The guys in the computer lab at school told me to do the following..
1) From creative suite program. File-Save As-PDF
2) Open that File in Adobe Acrobat
3) Export file to Post Script File
4) Re-Open that Post Script File in Acrobat and save it over the intial PDF file.
Seems like there should be an easier way... (they are all PC guys)...

  • Snow Leopard and Adobe Photoshop CS4

    Hi!
I've recently switched from custom built PCs to a Mac workstation, mainly for professional photography and editing purposes. I use photoshop roughly 12 hours a day (if not more...sigh), so switching to Mac would, in my mind, streamline and enhance my work experience.
    ...and it has!
However, Photoshop CS4 will often crash when doing a "Save as", which is the whole reason behind my post. I've tried fixes found around the internet (rebooting in Safe mode, turning Open GL off, reducing the ram used to 50%....I'm at the one where they're telling me to turn off and on the network...we'll see how that works!).
The other very strange thing with this whole thing, are 3 small scrambled windows that open with photoshop. I'll post a link to a screenshot :
    http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/949/screenshot20100115at105.png
Obviously I'm posting this in this forum, because I haven't had any of those issues when I was on my PC.
Oh, and as for the crash, it's more like a constant spinning beach ball.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Specs :
    iMac i5
    8GB o' ram
1 TB WD external USB2.0 drive attached, using Time Machine on it.
    OSX 10.6.2

Have you talked to Adobe about this issue? I have used Photoshop CS4 on Snow Leopard, and havn't seen any issues. However, the scrambled windows look like what Top Sites in Safari looked like before they (supposedly—I still get it occasionally) fixed it in 10.6.2.
Speaking of which, try re-installing the 10.6.2 combo update.
Also, try using the uninstallers to remove Photoshop (don't forget to deactivate first), and then re-install it.

  • FCP6 on Snow Leopard and Adobe CC on ML with GTX card in same machine?

Hello, I have a couple 5,1 Mac Pros in a post production environment running Snow Leopard and FCP6. We would like to upgrade to Adobe CC and take advantage of CUDA with GTX cards. However, we still need to be able to open/re-edit old FCP projects for a while.
FCP6 needs SL, while GTX cards need ML. My plan is to have each OS on separate HDDs and boot into the one we need at the time.
Problem with this: The 5,1s currently have 5770s which require one of the two 6-pin power connectors but the GTX cards need them both.
    1. Is the best solution to open the case and switch which card is powered every time, depending on need?
    2. Is it ok to leave the non-powered card in the PCI slot while doing this?
    3. Is there a better solution to this problem?
    Thanks for any help.

    Separate machines if you can.
The whole "drivers" and how you can't use that GTX in SL... I can run Windows with any card because drivers are available.

  • Problem with snow leopard and adobe reader

The United States Postal Service uses Adobe Reader to print labels with their "Click 'n Ship", a great service. I recently installed Snow Leopard on my Mac and I can no longer print labels with USPS Click 'n Ship. Applecare suggested I reinstall Reader (didn't work), or try with Firefox (haven't tried it yet). If this is a glitch, it will effect thousands of people who use USPS services. But maybe I just need a plug in, or need to make some change in the Adobe Reader Preferences. Any help out there in cyberland? ---Ken

    Hi,
I have Firefox but mainly use Safari
I was also getting a blank page when I tried to open a PDF.
It seemsI that when I downloaded the update version of Adobe Reader, it switched off the "Read & Write" back to just "Read".
if you go and get information on a PDF or Adobe  program (Command I), under "Open With" should say  Adobe Reader App  and at the left bottom where you'll see"Name" then below that,"everyone"-now just across you'll probably see "Read Only".(if you don't see this then go to step 5). This should be Read & Write so that Adobe Acrobat can create the Adobe Reader program to allow you to open and use a PDF.
If you have Adobe Reader 10.0 on your Apps, try going to step 5 below
    1) Go to your user folder on your hard drive (ie: "lew").
    2) Open Library/Application Support/ folder.
    3) If there isn't an "Adobe" folder, create one now (go to File-->New Folder menu item) and name it "Adobe".
    4) If there is an "Adobe" folder, right click on it and choose "Get Info".
    5) Expand the "Sharing & Permissions" area at the bottom of the info window. (click the triangle) so that  "system", "admin" and "everyone" appears.
    6) Click the lock icon in the lower right of the window.  Enter your password in the dialog that appears.
Now you'll see various choices you can make and "Read & Write" is open of them.
    7) For your username (ie: "lew") entry under "Name", make sure it says "Read & Write" to the right of it.  If your username isn't listed, make sure to the right of "everyone" it says "Read & Write".
Now Acrobat should launch properly when double clicked in the Finder as well as when viewing PDFs in Safari.
If this works please let me know

  • Snow leopard and adobe acrobat

i had adobe acrobat 7.0 before upgrading to snow leopard. it seems that now my software does not work and i cannot afford the upgrade on adobe. does anyone know how to fix this problem or where i can find an open source software on the internet that would allow me to create pdfs and modify pdfs?

Apparently, I was mistaken. You can't create one from scratch in Preview. However, create your document in a text editor, such as TextEdit, CMD+P, click on the PDF button, and select save as PDF. That will open in Preview. Use the select tool, copy the selection, and that activates the "new from clipboard" allowing you to create a new pdf doc with that selection. However, AFAICT, you can't edit it.

  • Upgraded to snow leopard and now cannot print

I purchased an iPhone 4S which forced me to upgrade to snow leopard. I have two Epson printers and an Epson scanner.  Now I cannot print.
I downloaded Epson updates for the new system from the Apple website hoping that would solve the problem.  It did not.
    Current print issues:
The print dialogue boxes look like inDesign options, not photoshop or "regular" print options.
    I cannot print :  Error:/System/Library/Printers/Printjobmgr/Contents/MacOS
Any suggestions on what to do next?  This is very frustrating.
    Thanks in advance.

Open the System Preferences program and select the Print tab. Delete the printers and then try installing the printers again.
I don't know what you mean by:
The print dialogue boxes look like inDesign options, not photoshop or "regular" print options.
If this persists you might want to take screenshots and include them.

  • Snow leopard and adobe flash problem

I can get the webcam from national geographic:
on my old imac G5 running leopard and my new imac running snow leopard using FIREFOX but NOT SAFARI. There is just a blank area where the webcam should be. I loaded the latest adobe flash 10 download but it still DOES NOT WORK. I don't know if this is a new SAFARI problem or SNOW LEOPARD problem. Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

are you able to play any videos posted in youtube?if you do. Then its not an SL problem. I tried the link that you posted and indeed it does not play. but i have a lot of websites that requires flash:
    youtube.com
    mini-clip.com
    facebook.com
if its a problem with Snow leopard then I wouldn't be able to browse these websites. Isolate it one by one. It may be a content issue. and NOT SL nor FlashPlayer
Tried it on firefox 3.5 and it works there but not safari. It maybe because the content is not compatible with Safari.

  • No paper appears for Soft Proofing in Snow Leopard and R1900 Epson printer...?

No papers appear for Soft Proofing a photo when using Epson R1900 printer and in Snow Leopard.
Print driver 6.62 is installed. Soft Profing papers are listed when an image is open in Preview but
can't print from Preview. None appear when a photo is open in Photoshop. Paper profiles
are listed in Color Sync Folder in Library but they don't appear for Soft Proofing when in PS.
How can I get profiles for Soft Proofing? They did appear when my printer was in Tiger & a Power Mac...?

I can't really tell which drivers you are using right now. It sounds like the best course of action for you is to uninstall all of the Epson printer drivers and reinstall them one at a time. You will need to go into the Library/Caches folder and delete the Epson folder. Also go into the Library/Printers folder and delete the Epson folder. In the PPDs folder, delete the .gz files for your printers, too. If you are using the Gutenprint driver, you will need to uninstall that first. You can download the uninstaller at the following URL:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/files/Uninstaller%20-%20Mac%20OS%20X% 20ONLY/1.2.6/gutenprint-uninstaller-1.2.6.dmg/download
Click on the file it downloads and uninstall Gutenprint.
Once all the drivers have been uninstalled, install the latest drivers for each of your printers one at a time and make sure each works before installing to the next one.
    Hope this helps, Syd

  • Snow Leopard and Adobe Flash Question

I'm aware that SL downgraded my version of flash to the previous one . I had recently downloaded the current version a few days before I installed SL so I did recognize the downgrade. But I've read that some people are having problems when they went back and re-downloaded the current version. So should I get the current version or just leave it as it is?

  • I'm running Adobe 9 pro on snow leopard and when I save or print from word for mac 14 the bottom gets cuts off

I'm running Adobe 9 pro on snow leopard and when I save or print from word for mac 14 the bottom gets cuts off. Can someone help?

Ah! You're creating a PDF out of Word through Acrobat. The cutoff is most likely being affected by the printer chosen.
When you call up the print dialogue in Word, check to see what printer is being used. If it's a typical inkjet printer, Acrobat is using the print margins of that printer as the cutoff area. Since most such printers can't print to the last inch and half or so of the paper, that's where it would be cut off.
Near the bottom, under the preview of the document, click on the Page Setup button. It doesn't really matter which printer you select here. Under Paper Size, choose Manage Custom Sizes. Under the Non-Printable Area heading, choose the same printer and set the paper size you're using.
Note that the unprintable margins for that printer will be filled in automatically. That's what's being cut off. Click the + button to create a modified version. The default will be "Untitled". Give it a new name if you want. Then set all of the margins to zero. Click OK. Now you'll have that as a choice under Paper Size. Doesn't matter that the actual printer can't use this setting since you're going to a PDF. Click OK to get back to the main Word print dialogue.
Now choose Save as Adobe PDF. It should give you an exact duplicate of what's on screen in Word since as far as Acrobat is concerned, your "printer" has no unprintable margins.

  • Updated to Snow leopard and PDF files disappear

Here's what happened. After I updated to Snow Leopard, when I went to  print a PDF from Quark or Illustrator, it looked liked it was printing  but no file is produced? Nothing...nada. I assumed it had to do with my  distiller or Acrobat. I went to the help section in Acrobate, clicked on  HELP, then REPAIR ACROBAT INSTALLATION. Thought that sounded good. Now I  can find my printers? States no printer selected? Using Acrobat 9.
Anyone have ideas how to fix this this? I'm a beginner for the most part. Thanks so much!
    Kelli

The way you create PDF now in Snow leopard and Leopard you go to Print menu click on PDF hold until a pop up menu shows The choose "create AcrobatPDF".
As for printing its possible you need to either update your print Driver, Or Printer. I know I had to give up my much treasured HP DJ990cse Inkjet printer and get a new C310 Printer/Scanner combo.
It makes great photo and great documents but is more trouble to operate.

  • I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion and found out it was not compatible with my HP printer (HP photosmart C5580) so I called Apple and asked how to get Mountain Lion off and Snow Leopard back on.  The Tech told me to

I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion.  Then I found out it was not compatible with my HP Printer (HP Photosmart C5580 all-in-one) so I called Apple support and the tech told me to erase the hard drive instead of going in the time machine.  Well I did that and then it took about three hours three days a week for about three weeks on the phone with an apple tech to get all my stuff back on my computer.  I have had trouble with my printer (won't do the scan anymore and wasn't printing on my DVDs.  Also the computer keeps freezing up when it is in the sleep mode, etc.
When I tried to list my problem on this forum it lists your OS at the bottom and mine had Mountain Lion listed as what I was using so apparently it didn't erase it.  Want to know how to get Mountain Lion off and put my Snow Leopard on so things start working right.

Go to the  menu/About This Mac - what OS version shows there?
Do a backup, preferably 2 separate ones on 2 separate drives.
Revert to a Previous OS X
    Revert to Snow Leopard
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.

  • Can't duplex print B4 paper size with Snow Leopard and HP8100N

Apple print drivers dumped the standard European paper size B4 (see ISO 216 for specs) many OS's ago, however, I was able to duplex print B4, which is a standard size for the HP8100 trays, using the HP Duplexing accessory, by specifying a 'custom' paper size (10.14 x 14.33). Now, with Snow Leopard and the 10.6.4 and the updated HP8100 print driver from Apple, I get the message "The Duplex Option, Flip on Short Edge" is not available when the destination paper is set to Custom."
It seems the easiest solution would be for Apple to bring back the B4 paper size--I don't know why they eliminated it. The next solution would be for Apple or HP (whoever is responisble for the print driver) to back up to whatever allowed duplexing of custom sizes in all recent OS's up to Snow Leopard.
I have thousands of pages of music to print and manual duplexing just isn't an option. Anybody have any work-around ideas?

  • I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard and have lost my epson printer software. On Epson Aus. web page there is no upgrade of their software for my printer with Snow Leopard. Can i download a lesser operating system software for printer?

I have just upgraded to snow leopard and lost my epson printer software. I have checked Epson Aus web site for printer software but they haven't upgraded it for snow leopard. Am i able to download software for a lesser operating system then snow leopard or do i have to purchase a new printer? The model is stylus photo R310.

Have you tried the R300 or R320 software? Typically the software covers a broad spectrum of printers, often providinbg overlap to cover "relatives" of a series.

Snow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc.
