Snow Leopard Browse for file dialog bug in current Flash Player?

We have noticed a possible bug in the Flash Player within Mac's latest OS version Snow Leopard.
When a Browse for file dialog is initiated, upon returning to the browser. It's as if there is a layer above the flash app which stops interaction with the mouse. MouseOver events no longer take place and a click is require to remove this layer. If you move your mouse at all after the click this invisible layer returns limiting interaction.
We have tested this with 2 macs running snow leopard and the latest Flash Player. And also verified it is not an issue on Mac OSX previous to Snow Leopard.
It seems to effect only FF and Safari. Opera functions correctly.. Here is a video we created documenting the problem: http://www.conceptshare.com/flash_issue.mov
We have not had any customers complain about this yet. But if it's infact a bug, it's just a matter of time.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Scott,
Any workaround on this? I've tried numerous hacks to no avail. The only thing that works is to switch to another application and then switch back. When you say it fixed itself in safari would that be because of an update to safari or an update to the flash player? Also, have you tried the flash player beta on adobe labs? i think it is fixed in there but i don't believe users will update to a beta to fix this issue.

  • Slow Browse For Files Dialog

    Hi,
Using AME on a Macbook Pro & Mountain Lion, when I use the file browse dialog to browse for image sequences to add to the render cue, I may have to wait 5-10 seconds before I can see any of the files/folders on my hard drive. I see no such slowness when browsing the same directories using Finder, so either the file dialog in AME is having problems with the number of files in the folders or it's something else. I have the file view mode set to details.... does anyone else experience this?
    thx

Actually, you need to use the HTML <INPUT TYPE="file"

  • How do I install Snow Leopard while keeping files, applications, and settings

I need to update my system, I realized that I need Snow Leopard (quiet late) before Maverick. My question is, how can I install it keeping files and all the data. I found this on Internet, does it work?
Install Snow Leopard while keeping files, applications, and settings
If you follow these steps, the installer will replace your operating system if one is already present, but will preserve your account information and personal files.  You may have to reinstall some applications, however.
Insert the install disc (or the first install disc if you have more than one) into your disc drive. Restart your computer while holding down the c key. This causes your computer to start up from the install disc rather than your hard drive. When you see the gray Apple insignia, release c .
The Mac OS X installer should open automatically. Follow the on-screen prompts to read and accept the license agreement and begin the installation. When prompted to choose a destination disk, select your preferred location and click Install.
When the Mac OS X installation finishes with the disc, restart your computer. After the installation completes, a configuration program may begin automatically if you are installing for the first time. You will need to supply basic setup information for your computer.
Update your system software to ensure that you have the most recent operating system components.  From the Apple menu, select Software Update... , and then follow the instructions on the screen. Often, you will have to restart your computer, and you may have to run Software Update multiple times before it can completely update your system.

That's why you need to back it up. You won't need to restore the backup immediately afterwards unless something goes wrong during the upgrade, but you'll need it later; the drive will eventually fail.

  • 'Browse For File' icon not working in Dreamweaver CS4

    Hello All.
Ever since upgrading my copy of Dreamweaver from version 8 to CS4, I seem to have accounted an annoying bug (?)
If, for example, I want to change an image on a webpage, I would click the image in question on the screen and by using the Properties panel would select a new image by clicking the 'Browse For File' icon in the 'Source File Of Image' section of the panel.
Then I would select the new image, hit 'OK' and the image would be changed.
Now when I do this nothing happens - the original image remains and cannot be altered.
I now have to manually type the link of the new image into the 'Source File Of Image' field, which is a pain.
I have even disabled my firewall and anti-virus just in case these were somehow conflicting but still no change.
    Any ideas anyone please?
    Thanks,
    Jon
Using Dreamweaver CS4 on Windows Vista Home Premium SP2

If Dreamweaver is behaving in an odd way, it frequently means that there is a corrupt personal configuration folder.
Close Dreamweaver, locate the personal configuration folder, and rename it.
When you restart Dreamweaver, it should create a new configuration folder with all the program defaults.
For details of how to find the configuration folder, see this page in the Dreamweaver FAQ.
    Hope this solves your issue.

  • Snow Leopard server for 10.7 netboot image

    Hi Everyone,
I am trying to create a netboot image of 10.7 using snow leopard server but it is not working. I have already created an image of Lion and then tranfered it over to my server (Snow Leopard). I have scanned the image for restore (not sure if this is needed) and then mounted it using Disk Utility. Now when I lauch SIU then i don't see my pre-created image as image source.
Can i create netboot image of 10.7 using Snow Leopard?
                                            OR
If I created the netboot image using Lion Server and then tranfer the files over to Snow Leopard Server for all my client. Can i do this?
    Thanks,

    Hi Brian,
    Thanks for your help.
So if I create the 10.7 netboot image using 10.7 server and then move the NetBootSP0 folder to SL server then it should be working, right?

  • Export presets now direct me to the "Browse For Folder" dialog box

Suddenly Lightroom will not remember the name of the "export to" folder when I use my export presets in certain ways, even though the name of the "export to" folder appears in the "Export" dialog box. The prolem exists in Library and Develop modules. This is what's happening…
    IF I CLICK ON "FILE":
    1. And choose the "Export" option, LR displays the Export dialog box, from which I can select an user preset and export a JPG file to the proper folder, as intended. (OK)
    2. And choose the "Export with Previous" option, LR exports the JPG file immediately to the proper folder. (OK)
    3. And I choose the "Export with Preset option, LR displays the menu of Lightroom presets and user presets, but clicking on a user preset displays the "Browse for folder" dialog box from which I must manually browse to the export folder before a file can be exported. (NOT OK)
IF I RIGHT-CLICK ON THE IMAGE:
LR displays a menu containing these options: Export, Export with Previous, the Lightroom presets, and my user presets.
    4. If I then choose "Export," LR works properly---same as example 1 above. (OK)
    5. If I then choose "Export with Previous," LR exports the JPG file immediately. (OK)
    6. If I then choose one of my presets, LR does not work properly: it acts as it does in example 3 above. (NOT OK)
    BACKGROUND:
I have been using these presets for almost a year without fail---they're great! Two days ago I moved my Lightroom catalog to a new external drive. I also renamed the "export to" folder (that new name is stored in the "Export" dialog box).
I sure would appreciate hearing from anyone on this because it's driving me crazy. Thanks.

    SOLUTION FOUND:
I created yet another folder for storing exported JPGs. Then for each export preset I used the "Browse For Folder" dialog to point that preset to that new folder. All presets now work as before. This fix was tolerable for the seven presets I have, but a large number of presets would have made it a real chore.

    Welcome to the Communities.
We want to help you but unfortunately you have given us insufficient information.
Please find a moment to tell us more about your machine, the model identifier, the OS version, and the total amount of RAM you have.   It also helps to know where you are, nothing specific, just the country.   Macs do not run on iOS 6.1.6 as your profile says.
Then fill those same details in your profile for future use

  • HT3258 where can I buy/ download Snow Leopard OS for my Macbook Pro so I can run PowerPC?

    I need help.
where can I get/ buy/ download snow leopard os so I can run PowerPC..

If you are outside of the USA & Canada, the Apple Store will not ship you Snow Leopard Server.  You must have someone in the USA or Canada purchase it for you and then trans-ship it to you, which, of course, will increase the shipping costs.
Snow Leopard Server for $19.99 + sales tax & shipping costs at 1.800.MYAPPLE (1.800.692.7753) - Apple Part Number: MC588Z/A (telephone orders only).
Another alternative is to purchase Snow Leopard client and install that into Parallels 8:

This will give you an environment where you can run your PowerPC CDs.

  • Configure DNS on Snow Leopard Server for Web Hosting

    Hi Everyone,
I put together an article on my blog about Snow Leopard DNS setup for web hosting. http://www.mkahn.com/?p=279
I'll be revising it over the next few weeks to make it more informative based around feedback. Let me know if you have any questions or trouble setting up DNS on Snow Leopard Server for web hosting.

Thanks for your replies. I realize I'm not making clear the way this network is configured . Also, the only services running on the Snow Leopard server are (at this time):
    dhcpd - in the 10.136.31.x range;
    dns - same as before;
    planned to add are:
    Open Directory (for network logins)
    Software update;
    Web (only on the 10.136.31.x Ethernet);
    mySQL (localhost only - for moodle);
NAT is not set up on the Snow Leopard server itself. We have an outside router, a Cisco 2811. This router provides routing for both the public IP range, and the NAT range is configured in this router. The forwarding dns is located in LR and Fayetteville. So what I need is dns on Snow Leopard to forward outside queries to the state DNS servers, and resolve the local NAT IP only for Open Directory and a set of Snow Leopard clients.
Is this going to be possible?

  • In snow leopard, how make files "invisible"?

in snow leopard, how make files "invisible"?

You can make files or folders invisible from the Terminal. Enter the following command:
    chflags hidden
Don't press enter yet. Put a space after the the word hidden and then drag and drop the item you want to hide into the Terminal window. Now press enter. The item will disappear from view.
You'd better copy that path down though, because if you want to unhide it, you need to know the full path and file or folder name.
As a test, I did one as:
    chflags hidden /Users/myaccount/Desktop/test.tif
This of course is a file named test.tif sitting on the desktop of my user account. Upon hitting enter, it disappeared. To get it back, you unhide it:
    chflags nohidden /Users/myaccount/Desktop/test.tif
The item will reappear. You can see where it would be very important to have that entire path written down. If you forget the name or where it is, you'll be lucky to find it by guessing. It's either that, or you'll have to use the trick to show hidden and system files. Then you'll be able to see the hidden item you're dragging and dropping item into Terminal to unhide it.
