Snow Leopard Mac Mail and Comcast

Hello, I just changed my internet provider to Comcast. I configured Mac Mail like I normally would and configured my lap top and iPhone. For some weird reason, my home computer (with MAC 10.6.2) cant retrieve my emails, whereas my black Macbook laptop with 10.5 can, as well as my iPhone.
Anyone out there know what might be going on?
Thanks for your help!

Did you follow the instructions Comcast has for setting it up on your Mac? http://customer.comcast.com/Pages/FaqDisplay.aspx?Guid=3aaac773-9491-49a7-b809-2 957fc398921
I know this might be a funny questions but I know a couple email providers that use different settings depending on the platform.

    The Mail version for your machine is 4.6 (1085)   You can get it via the Combo updater.  Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1

  • Two iOS devices and a Snow Leopard Mac: trying to sync photos

    My wife’s tech support group, that would be me , is failing in attempts to find an easy way to sync her photos between iPhoto on her Snow Leopard Mac and her two iOS 5 devices using iCloud.
    The bottom line is how best to manage photos during a time all devices are not on iCloud.
    Two problems:
    1. She now has the two iOS devices reporting different numbers of pictures and slightly different albums. Shouldn't they be exactly the same?
    2. Is it better to have her sync her Snow Leopard Mac to the iOS devices using iTunes or iPhoto.
    Any basic tips appreciated. Including if this is not the correct Community for this post.
    Thank you.

    You are in the correct community for posting this question. Most people would never even think to ask. That's very thoughtful of you. Anyway .... to the point about syncing photos.
    I do not use Photo Stream and use iCloud for very little as well. I still sync with iTunes because that works for me and I am used to doing it that way. I am running Lion on my MacBook so I have everything I need for iCloud, but .... This is how I do it.
    Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
    Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
    Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
    Select iPhoto as the folder from which you want to sync.
    Click on all of the albums, events, faces, that you want to sync.
    Make sure that the Sync Photos heading is checked/selected.
    Click on Apply or Sync in the lower right corner of iTunes

    Unless there are drivers provided by Apple to work with the printer, you're out of luck. The latest drivers provided by Lexmark are for OS X 10.4 Intel. Unfortunately, this can happen when slightly older peripherals and newer software don't mesh.

    iCloud is not supported on 10.6.8, the minimum is Lion 10.7.2.
    You can make mail work by manually entering the account however:

    can i buy one snow leopard 10.6 and upgrade two mac?

    The Snow Leopard license that Apple sells only allows you to upgrade one Mac. If you want to upgrade more than one computer, you have to buy the Mac OS X Snow Leopard family pack > http://www.amazon.com/Snow-Leopard-Family-Pack-5-User/dp/B001AMPP0W

    Hi spiritentrep,
    What Adobe software are you referring to? Are you using Acrobat? You should have no problems running Acrobat XI on Yosemite, and as along as you have compatible scanner drivers for your Epson, you should be fine there as well.
    Best,

    That is Snow Leopard.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
    You can purchase Snow Leopard by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will receive physical media - DVD - by mail.
    Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
    Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
    Snow Leopard from eBay
    After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
    Before upgrading check that you computer meets the minimum requirements:
    Snow Leopard General requirements
      1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
      2. 1GB of memory
      3. 5GB of available disk space
      4. DVD drive for installation
      5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may
          apply.
      6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
    First, you need to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 as stated above.
    You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
    Before upgrading check that you computer meets the minimum requirements:
    Lion System Requirements
      1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or

  • Upgraded from osx snow leopard to lion and still no iCloud

    Upgraded from osx snow leopard to lion and still no iCloud settings in System Preferences, why?

    I have the exact same issue, and no Profiles for me under System. My system was upgraded from 10.6 as soon as Lion came out and I've never had the icon.
    I have had iCloud set up by creating an account within Mail, Contacts & Calendars - but in this setup my Mobile Documents folder, my iCloud "Documents and Data", never synchronized with my other devices. That is why I began wondering why I don't have the iCon as I have seen other Macs that came with 10.7 installed factory.

  • 3 Beep when i try to boot Snow Leopard (after memory and sad upgrade)

    Good night,
    I have a Macbook Pro Later 2011 with Yosemite installed and today i tried to upgrade memory and SSD.
    Memory: 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 (2x8) Corsair 11-11-11-30 1.35v

    After installation of my new gear, i tried to install OS X Snow Leopard through DVD and i get this 3 beep when boot start.
    So i reinstalled the original hard drive, keep the new 16gb and started correctly.
    Tried boot DVD again with the original hard drive and new 16gb but the 3 beep continues...
    Then i removed the 16gb, but still doing this 3 beep stuff when i try boot from DVD.
    I tried all combinations with new and old hardware but nothing more works...
    I have changed the slots with both, the 16gb and old 4gb.
    Could be the DVD corrupted?
    Now im running my Yosemite with the original hard drive and the new 16gb memory without any issue.
    Im already do the memory test nothing wrong appear in results
    My configuration:

    The DVD's too old for that Mac. If you need to install an OS on it, connect it to the Internet and start it up with the Option, Command, and R keys held down.

    What version of word do you have? The TS3938 sounds like it's a PowerPC app- written for an old architecture that is no longer supported in Lion. If this is the case, your files are fine- you just need a newer version of word that will run in Lion in order to open them. The newest version (2011) should be readily available anywhere, and has worked fine for me ever since I switched to Lion on release day....

  • Program fails in Krb5LoginModule on Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6)

    Hi,
    FWIW, I've already file a bug report with Apple for this, but maybe you can help me. We have a program that authenticates against Active Directory using Krb5LoginModule. It's been working for years under Mac OS X, Windows, Linux and FreeBSD, but under Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6), using JRE 1.6.0_15 it fails with the following stack trace:
    09:16:36,451 ERROR LoginDialog:225 - Password check failed: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: EncryptionKey: Key bytes cannot be null!

         at de.unikoeln.rrz.uklanadmin.services.LoginService.checkPassword(LoginService.java:47)I've read the source and found that pre-auth works. Actually that's all we care about, we don't need the keys at all! But this call in Krb5LoginModule fails:
                  // update keys after pre-auth
                  encKeys = EncryptionKey.acquireSecretKeys(
                   password, principal.getSalt());Please refer to http://openradar.appspot.com/radar?id=76405 for more details.

    Thanks. I'd already set debug=true in the config file (and with map.put in your example). Apple does indeed use /Library/Preferences/edu.mit.Kerberos instead of /etc/krb5.conf. I can see that the settings there are picked up by programs I run in the Terminal, e.g. kinit. I'm not so sure they're picked up by the JDK. I have tried to set permitted_enctypes to just des-cbc-crc, but that didn't seem to have any effect.
    As for your code example, the result is exactly the same (as I had expected). krb5.initialize() works fine, but in login(), at exactly the same spot in the source, I get exactly the same stack trace. For reference, it's this block in attemptAuthentication():
      669                   // We can't get the key from the keytab so prompt
      670                   if (encKeys == null) {
      671                       promptForPass(getPasswdFromSharedState);
      672
      673                       encKeys = EncryptionKey.acquireSecretKeys(
      674                           password, principal.getSalt());
      675
      676                       if (isInitiator) {
      677                           if (debug)
      678                               System.out.println("Acquire TGT using AS Exchange");
      679                           cred = Credentials.acquireTGT(principal,
      680                                                   encKeys, password);
      681                           // update keys after pre-auth
      682                           encKeys = EncryptionKey.acquireSecretKeys(password,
      683                                                           principal.getSalt());
      684                       }
      685                   }The call in line 673 succeeds, but the one in line 682 fails. The reason is in this method:
        182       public static EncryptionKey[] acquireSecretKeys(char[] password,
      183           String salt, boolean pa_exists, int pa_etype, byte[] pa_s2kparams)
      184           throws KrbExceptionThere it's this part:
      204           EncryptionKey[] encKeys = new EncryptionKey[etypes.length];
      205           for (int i = 0; i < etypes.length; i++) {
      206               if (EType.isSupported(etypes)) {
    207 encKeys[i] = new EncryptionKey(
    208 stringToKey(password, salt, pa_s2kparams, etypes[i]),
    209 etypes[i], null);
    210 }For one of the values in etype[], the stringToKey method returns null. The source code is taken from OpenJDK. It's not available with Sun's JDK, so I haven't been able to step through that part in the debugger.
