Snow Leopard Safari4 Java Plugin
Long story short, i deleted all the plugins for safari from the system folders, due to some old plugins that were causing issues. I've gotten most of my plugins working, except for the java one.
Going to http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml on safari says java is not installed (works fine in other browsers). How do I reinstall the java plugin on safari 4 on snow leopard?
Have tried reseting the browser, have tried creating a new account, but no joy.
Thanks.
Try a reinstall of Java:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL924
While this version says 10.5.8, I believe it also applies to Snow Leopard. If it doesn't the installer will say so.
Before the install, quit Safari and any other browser, if opened.

Can't get some websites to work after snow leopard install, java maybe?
I'm a day trader. I use TD Ameritrade every day to work on. I believe the real time streamer and level 2 quotes are all java based.
This past weekend I did the Snow Leopard install on my computer. Until this morning it seemed like all was well.
I go to ameritrade and try to log in and it keeps saying it doesn't recognize my log in. I called them and they are able to log into my account so its my computer. I went to the java preferences and there use to be a lot of java types there now there are just 2, could that some how be it?
Any suggestions?
SusanSafari is a 64 bit application, is it worth starting the app in 32 bit mode and testing if it is any better.
use finder and highlight Safari in the applications directory, do a get Info (cmd i) and tick the 32 bit mode box and restart Safari.
If it does not help remember to revert back to 64 bit mode. -
Tiger to Snow Leopard possible Java architectures
My company is developing a Java application with a small native library in a Universal Binary. We want to be sure we test our native library on all possible architectures, but we're having a hard time determining what they are. We're supporting Mac 10.4 - 10.6, Java 1.5+.
Could anyone help me fill in this matrix? I think I have it correct except for the question marks. This would be helpful for me, but I would assume others would find this useful too.

Upgrade to Snow Leopard deleted AU plugins?
I recently had a rough upgrade from Logic 8-9 due to a problem with control surfaces (45rpm really helped me out on that one).
I was holding up on upgrading to Snow Leopard due to a computability problem with Motu Ethno 1. Well I finally bit the bullet and bought Ethno 2, so I installed Snow Leopard last night.
The problem is that now most of my AU plugins are missing. Some of the newer ones are there, but all the older ones seem to be missing. I've checked the components directory and the files just aren't there.
Has anyone heard about the Snow Leopard install removing AU plugins? This seems a bit strange.Dsypeck wrote:
Oops my bad. I moved the files out of that directory when I was trying to debug my upgrade issue. I moved the files back and almost everything works again.
Oddly all the Waldorf plugins are now broken. Sent Logic into quite a loop trying to scan them. Not sure why just moving out of and then back into that directory would change things.
Also the UniversalUVIPlayer actually crashed the validation. Not sure if this is a Snow Leopard or a Logic 9 problem or a combination.
Make sure your plug ins are Snow Kitty Cat compatible. I HATE that there is no compatibility list anywhere...

Snow Leopard and Java update 14 problem
Hi everyone,
after the installation of the last Java update from Apple I can't execute anymore Java applet into Safari, this applet is needed for my VPN to works.
I can't uninstall this update and I can't update to Java7 as I have Mac OS X 10.6.8.
Please could you help me solving this issue?
Thanks in advance!I have exactly the same problem here in Austria, some friends of mine too.
So its pretty sure that the bug is on Apples server site not on our machines.
iTunes shows the same problem if one wants to update apps for the iphone since yesterday.
You get a network problem error message

JavaFX JavaScript bridge on Snow Leopard
Hello,
Installed Snow Leopard and tested the javafx/js bridge example at: http://javafx.com/docs/articles/dice/.
It loads fine, but when i click any of those Set D1/D2/Both buttons, I get a "http://javafx.com exception occured" dialog. There are no exceptions on the java console per se. When I enabled applet life cycle errors logging, i did see one exception at load time (see below).
I have tried both the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions (through the java preferences UI on snow leopard) for java-plugins but don't see any difference. The platform version is 1.6.0_15 (if i am not wrong), and the bridge requires only 0_10 to work.
Please let me know if you are able to roll the dice fine enough and how..
thanx,
;-p r a b u!

It then says that Mac users doesn't have yet the next version. I'm not sure if this still applies, but I'm having the same problem for both the example apps and my own apps.

Ayuda con Snow Leopard y JAVA, quiero instalar SQL Developer, y no hay manera! alguna idea? Necesito una maquina virtual de java, pero no la encuentro en el sistema....
Uninstall Norton using their uninstaller, it's bad for Mac's and likely outdated. (rare to get Mac malware)
Since 10.6.8, Apple has incorporated their own OS X anti-malware, so your covered.
Make sure System Preferences > Security > Automatically update safe downloads list is checked ON.
If you need further anti-malware to rid the Windows files you get of their malware, then the free ClamXav is great and free.

Virtual Desktop Apps and Snow Leopard Upgrade
I'm currently running most recent version of Parallels Desktop and I'm concerned that when I upgrade to Snow Leopard I will lose the use of PD until Parallels' updates their software. Unfortunately, I need to use Windows OS for school! Not much on Parallels' website yet.
I'm just wondering if I should wait to upgrade until parallels folks catch up?According to http://kb.parallels.com/en/6637
Parallels Desktop 4:
Parallels Desktop 4.0 is compatible with Snow Leopard and can be installed on Snow Leopard Host, please make sure you are using the latest available build 3844. You might, however, experience some minor issues. We will release fully compatible Parallels Desktop 4 build to be installed on Snow Leopard soon.
We have following know issues with PD4 build 3844 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard:
1. Host Snow Leopard.
- QuickLook plugin crashes when trying to do preview on PVM bundle (crash invisible for user)
- Updater download but fail to install PD4 updates (workaround – close autoupdater and run installer manually)
- Mounter/Explorer fail to open PD4 disk images
- iPhone client fail to connect
- Taking snapshots very slow on host Snow Leopard
- Opening a web link from Windows in Mac Safari using Shared Internet Applications feature results in appending garbage to the link
- Snow Leopard 64bit host KP when connecting USB device
Depending how important windows is to you it might be worth waiting. -
Safari 5.1 update Snow Leopard Java no longer works
I've been doing quite a bit of reading regarding how the Lion update changed the rules of how Java works (or doesnt work) for the new Safari 5.1 browser. I also had quite a time with existing plugins after my SN 10.6.8 was updated with the new safari 5.1. For example Lass Pass totally closed down my Safari 5.1 browser and kept it from even launching. I later found a post that suggested I remove the LPass plugins via uninstall
https://lastpass.com/lpsafari.dmg
and then a reinstall of the plugin. That seemed to work..
However, I am still totally unable to get access back to my company's remote network via citrix which is a java based web portal.
Can anyone advise regarding a solution in running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1 and getting java to work?
I have seen posts re lion solutions but not snow leopard.
Thanks all
Kenand then a reinstall of the plugin. That seemed to work..

OSX Snow Leopard and Plugin 2...
I read that plugin 2 is included in Snow Leopard OSX, well the SL box arrived today and no matter how much I shake it, no plugin 2 is falling out. So where is it hidden? or where the rumours of Apple finally being up-to-date with Java just another disapointment on the long road of Java under OSX? We at least now I have 32bit and 64bit Java 6 VM's yipee, only 2 years late Apple!

Open "Java Preferences" either from spotlight or your utilities folder...it's probably going to say you need to install a java runtime. Then just click install!

I just upgraded to Snow Leopard (OS 10.8.2) from Lopard and am now not able to launch Photoshop CS3 extended. I get a warning that says: To open “Adobe Photoshop CS3,” you need to install a Java SE 6 runtime. Would you like to check for and install one? But when I click on "Install" I'm told it is currently unavailable. I need PS to work! What can I do!?
Manually download and install it from Oracle.

I was on Snow Leopard with no issues accessing my Windows and Java based hospital computer system . I swithced to Mountain Lion and now I have NO access to any of the hospital applications remotely. Is there a way I can get back to Snow Leopard or manipulate Mountain Lion to allow me to access my hospital system?

Restore the Snow Leopard bootable backup/clone or the Time Machine backup. As for making ML work, I've not a clue since I don't do windoze or access things remotely. You'll have to wait for one of those gurus to pop in or just post what's happening when you try at the ML forums.
