Snow Leopard with Exchange support not working

I tried out the new mail with exchange support (I use Microsoft Outlook at work). I tried to set up my account the same way with my iPhone, but it did not work . . . (I can get my work email to my iphone with the same account set up).
I know I'm not giving a lot of information here, but any ideas what the problem might be?
Thanks!
Lindsay

I just posted this elsewhere:
For those of you that have iPhones that have been successfully using exchange for any period of time - don't expect mail.app to work for you!. Although there are improvements in exchange support, SL still does not support RPC over HTTP / (S). This is used quite widely by many companies still using Exchange server 2003, and provides seamless "no-vpn-required" access to the exchange server using an outlook web access server. I was, as most were, waiting for full exchange integration (Mail/iCal/Address etc). Nope. My question is this: if it was so simple to get this into the iPhone (and it works perfect).. why is this not in mail.app??? Full "out of the box" exchange support is not true at all.

  • Upgrade to Snow Leopard.. external HD not working?

Hello Everyone, I'm hoping to get some help here so that I don't have to make a trip to the Genius Bar to figure out what is going on. I have a late 2009 edition MacBook Pro (2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB, 250 GB HD). I finally decided to install Snow Leopard today using the drop in DVD that the store provided me with when I bought the notebook in the summer of 2009 (never felt like taking the time to do the upgrade till today). Well, now that the upgrade is done, I can no longer use my Iomega UltraMax 500 GB external hard drive that I use to backup data with using Time Machine. Every time I plug it in, it shows up for a split second and then I get the red alert box telling me that I did not eject it properly. At first, I panicked that the drive is corrupt, but I plugged it into my old PowerBook that I have sitting around and it works perfectly fine. I can open all the files and everything!
I hope someone here can help me troubleshoot what is going on. Could Snow Leopard have screwed with my USB ports or something?
    Thank you in advance!

After this happens, have you tried disconnecting the drive and immediately connecting a different USB device (perhaps a flash drive) to the same port the Iomega drive was using, just to see whether the port is still active or has shut down? The behavior sounds like what one would see if the drive were drawing too much power from the USB port, causing the port to shut down. But ordinarily there is an error message that accompanies the shutdown and explains that it's because of a device drawing too much power. And of course your drive shouldn't be drawing power from the port at all unless its AC power supply is failing — but if its power supply were bad, it wouldn't work with your Powerbook.
It's an odd and puzzling problem, and I have no explanation for it.

  • Downgrade using Snow Leopard install DVD does not work on iMac 27"

I have an iMac 27" (SMC version 1.54f36) that I wish to downgrade. I bought a 5-user Snow Leopard license. Now I'm trying to re-install from the DVD, but the computer won't boot on the DVD.
If I run the installer from the desktop, the installation starts, but when the computer reboots, it gets stuck. No alterations is done on the system disk, so I can hold down the Alt key and choose to boot from the system disk and I'm still on 10.6.5. For the moment I cannot find the discs supplied with the iMac, but surely the SL install DVD should work?? I've used it once before to do a clean SL install (I believe the iMac I have came with Leopard).
The version on the SL install DVD is 10.6 (2Z691-6558-A)
The reason for downgrading is that my Pro Apps (DVDSP and FCP) got a bit shaky when I updated to 10.6.5.

If you have a 27" iMac, it had to ship with Snow Leopard installed. See Mac OS X versions (builds) included with Intel-based Macs to confirm this, & Don't install a version of Mac OS X earlier than what came with your Mac for why you should not try to downgrade to an earlier version.
If the version on your SL install DVD is 10.6, then it is an early version & will not work with your iMac. The current retail product version installs 10.6.4 & should work if your iMac is the "Late 2009" model. It probably will not work if your iMac is the "Mid 2010" model.
You need your grey system discs. They should be kept accessible wherever you use your iMac. If you have lost them, contact Apple about getting a replacement set.

Since I upgraded to Snow Leopard the CAPS lock key and the letter "p" will not work anymore. Not sure if this is a hardware fault and just coincidence.

  • Snow Leopard Server iCal push not working on iMac clients

    Hello,
I have a new installed mac mini snow leopard server and updated osx with all the latest updates.
I am running the iCal server and the Push service and everything seems to run OK.
I have 4 brand new iMac clients which share calendars between the different users, but the iCal Push function doesn't work at all. Even when I change the update method in the iCal client to interval of 1 minute, it doensn't update.
The only way the calendar updates is to choose "Refresh" from the Calendar menu in iCal client.
The push function for the mail clients do work which is strange.
I already tried the following actions:
    1. I have stopped and restarted the Push-service on the server
    2. I have removed the push server settings in the iCal server settings on the server and added them again
    3. I followed the iCal log file to see if an action of a client is immediatly visible on the server = OK
    4. I've updated all the clients to the newest software
    5. I have restarted the server completely
Does anybody have tips or advise to help me looking to find the cause of the iCal Push problems?

  • Calendar Notes - Bidirectional Sync with Exchange 2003 not working

I have Exchange 2003. Active sync works but when I change notes field in an appointment from the iPhone, it does not sync that change to Exchange server. I have an appointment on the iphone with notes, but I cannot see the notes I created from the iPhone on my Outlook connected to my Exchange server. Works fine with Exchange 2007 but not with 2003. Anyone else noticed this?

the new iphone does not sink with outlook 2003 and my sync with mac
is far far less than perfect (300 out of 2500 contacts sync). The iphone techs tell me this problem is universal. I sure didn't get this information when I bought the phone. The apple techs for cannot fix these problems. The software seems flawed.

  • Since Snow Leopard, Mac Pro will not sleep with Apple wireless keyboard

I have an odd problem, now on 2 Mac Pro (Nehalem) with 10.6.1:
Since Snow Leopard, the system will not sleep as long as a) the user is logged on (any users/profile) and b) the Apple aluminum wireless keyboard is 'attached'.
If I log off first, sleep works fine. If I turn the keyboard off first, it's fine. But if hitting 'sleep' when logged on, the screen turns dark, sleep process begins, but the system comes right back (with a note 'keyboard disconnected'.
It's as if the keyboard disconnects after sleep, but the system still monitors it, and wakes up.
Note: Wake for bluetooth devices IS NOT ENABLED!
Here is the console log (relevant info):

Does anyone have any idea? While on, the keyboard never disconnects - i.e. I don't have any other issues with BT or the keyboard (this is the 2nd I tried).
Also, my apologies for double-posting this earlier in a different forum; cheers!
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hi,
    and thanks for posting that.
That's too bad. I am probably going to log off if needed, rather than going wired, but I can't believe that this might be more prevalent than just me and there is no 'fix'...
    Anyone ?!
    Thanks as always,
    Dan

  • Snow Leopard dropped Exchange 2003 support?!

    Hiyah,
I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard only to find my work exchange email account is no longer working— apparently Apple added Exchange 2007 support to Mail, but took away 2003 support?! Is there a workaround? The IMAP settings aren't working either, even though I think they're supposed to?
    Thanks!

I think it is time to tell whomever is still relying on antiquated server software to upgrade. If they don't they are only spreading viruses amongst their PCs.

  • MacBook Pro, Snow Leopard and Exchange Server

My wife is considering a MacBook Pro for her business (we have one at home). At her work they have Exchange Server. With our home MacBook Pro I have been able to connect to her Exchange server through Entourage. (however I think her Exchange server is version 4 and not 7). Anyway, we are getting mail, contacts and her calendar through Exchange but we are not getting shared calendars and I don't know how to access her files on the Exchange server. I really want her to buy a MacBook but we need to make sure that shared calendars and file sharing works. Can someone inform me about this?
Her company is upgrading to Exchange server 7 in December and I know that Snow Leopard allows Exchange to work through Mail, Address Book and iCal. Again, I need to know if calendar sharing and file sharing can work. Thanks.

    Hello,
Wondering if you had any luck getting this issue resolved (I have the exact same question).

  • Lion with Kanaka, AFP not working

Here is my config on test server
    OES2sp3, with Kanaka 20120126
    OSX Lion - 10.7.2
My setting is working with OSX 10.6.
I can also use Lion + Kanaka plugin with SMB share.
My problem is related to AFP. Both Kanaka plugin and Kanaka Client can authenticate a user, but failed to mount their home.
My AFP should be OK as I can use Finder on OSX10.6 to connect to the server directly, also user can login with afp mount their home with Kanaka plugin.
I tried Apple's solution OS X Lion: Connecting to legacy AFP services, tried TID 7008683, but all failed.

Just because you can connect to OES2 SP3 via AFP from Snow Leopard
(10.6) does not mean you can connect from Lion (10.7) as the default
user authentication method (UAM) changed between the two.
If CIFS works then that suggests Universal Password policy stuff is
correct as that's shared between CIFS and AFP.
You're using OES2 SP3 but what patch level? You should have at least the
November 2011 (and earlier) patch update installed and then you need to
enable the DHX2 UAM - configure via iManager or edit
    /etc/opt/novell/afptcpd/afptcpd.conf and change AUTH_UAM to DHX2.
