SNP problem

Hello everyone,
I need some help with SNP optimization. 
I have three concerns, supply shortages, resource utilization and demand.
I am having troubles with supply shortages.  most of the products in my optimization have supply shortages present.  i have set day's supply for all and this is being met rather than not having shortages. no delivery penalty is the highest cost.
what can be possible reasons of these supply shortages? how can i eliminate them?
for the resources, there are times that not all resources are being utilized. this has been set as 100% utilization and 0 loss factor. how can i make these resources be maximized to help lessen the shortages?
last is the demand. i have 3 locations. A(plant) B(DC) C(customer). the demand from C will be required in B and then to A to be produced. does the demand change until it is required in A? or the demand for a day should be the same for the 3?
i would appreciate all your suggestions and recommendations.

For your first issue, you need to balance the non-delivery penalty against the "total" cost of not meeting the safety days'. I am not sure if you have "Take period length into account", as this can exacerbate the issue as well.
If you are having shortages of stock then the optimizer will have to have non-deliveries at some point and hence this cost is there and will be considered, so the optimiser tends to have a shortage up front and take this "hit" straight away versus having the costs of not meeting safety every period (or indeed every day).
Therefore:
If non-deleivery = 1000
safety stock violation = 10
"period length into account"=yes
Then for every monthly bucket under safety there is 10 x 30 = 300 penalty
So if this shortage continues for > 3 monthly buckets then the optimiser will have the non-delivery and try and maintain the safety instead.

    For all of you with the SNP problems and other problems was the next level of tech support offered to you. Also if so did it fix your problems that you are having. Now the reason I ask is this, I spoke to a supervisor at CL and asked for my money back and was told all that could be offered was top level tech support.
    I was told by the super that they have helped those who used top level tech support. Now my question was this, why don't they offer that to everyone if it would fix the SNP and make everyone happy if that were the case. As I see the hole picture after talking to the super at CL that we all are being takin for a ride and don't think they will have a fix. And on top of it the supervisor stated that if I would have asked with in the 30 day period I would have had my money returned. But when I called and told them about the problems(in the 30 day period)they said send it back and we will update the firm ware and it will be fixed.
    The firm ware update did nothing to fix the problem I have,what a bull story that was.So if I would have not been lied to the card would have been sent back and I would have my money. This company will find out that you can't screw the customer when he did everything that he was told to do so the card would work. I will be on the phone with my local news who takes care of big companies that screw over their customers. I also plan on contacting my cousin who is an attorney and let him handle this.
    You may ask why go through all this and I will tell you why. First of all my money is mine and when I buy something I exspect it to work. If it does not work I will work with the company to get it fixed. Well thats what I did, I worked with them and still no fix and now want my money back for a product that does not work.
    X-fi platinum is what I have and does not work worth a **bleep**. SNP all day long when it does work.
    Get your money back people and use onboard sound, it's less of a headache. And if you do not like this post,well to bad. BFG has worked with me when 2 cards went bad and they were 2 6800GT OC and they sent me 2 7800GT OC cards. WOW is all I could say and did not even ask for them. Now CL they just offer top level tech support that I know won't work,that is just funny.

  • Any solutions yet with noise issu

    Has anyone found a solution yet with the audigy?2 platinum crackling, static and popping issue? I find this is obviously not a top priority with creative, as they continue to release new products with the same problem. I've been searching everywhere for about a year now and have yet to find a solution. If someone knows something I don't, plese reply?Thanks

  • Problem in getting data in SNP Planning Area Data Source

    Hi All,
    Problem Statement: To fetch data from SNP Planning Area for reporting in SAP BW.

    First Step: To create a DataSource on the Planning Area (Z9ASNP02) and Aggregate(9AMALO).
    For that
    Go to SAP Easy Access>Click on /SAPAPO/MSDP_ADMIN/ you are on S&DP Administration>Select the planning Area Z9ASNP02 double click on it
    You are on Change Planning Area Screen>Go to Extras left click>DP/SNP Data Extraction Tool-->Click on Generate Data Source, Provide the
    Data Source Name & Select the Aggregate 9AMALO and click on continue. Data Source is generated.
    But now when i go for Test Data Source-->Extractor Checker Screen and then providing the version 000 and then when i click on extraction Button
    It gives a Message "0 data records selected".

    Please correct me if my understanding is wrong; you are saying that, we cannot extract data from order series keyfigures. In that case how many key figures you maintain for time series, performance miight come down for planning area if you maintain huge no of keyfigures.
    Is there any way to extract data from Order series Planning area?

  • SNP Purchase Reqs transfer problem

    Hi,
    during the SNP Purchase requisitions immediate transfer, the pur reqs are not transferred from a specific location(although this location and products in it are active), pur reqs are transferred without any problem in other locations/products.
    how to rectify this.

    Check if the publication settings are maintained for external procurement for this location in APO. you can use the Tcode /sapapo/cp2.
    Maintain the location no, publication type should be 21 for external procurement and ECC system accordingly.In case not maintained, kindly maintain the same. This is required for data transfer to ECC system

  • SNP Interactive Planning. Problems for SNP PPM plant

    Hi All
    Can you advise please why SNP interactive planning does not create SNP planned order when there are SNP and PP/DS related PPMs together.
    And once i delete SNP PPM, SNP interactive planning creates SNP Planned Order without any problems.
    Once i again create SNP PPM and run SNP interactive planning- it does not create planned order to fullfill demand.

    Thanks! You solved a problem. PPM had maximum/minumum lot size 100 while in product master in Quantity determination max/min lot size fields were empty.
    I've added the same values to product master as in PPM and run again SNP interactive planning.
    And planned order was created.

  • APO-SNP Function Module Problem

    Hi there,
    we have SCM 5.0.
    Someone called transaction /SAPAPO/SDP94 to run a heuristic on a product at a location.
    The system shows an error message in the status bar: "Function module /SAPAPO/DM_ARC_ORDER_GET called incorrectly: CATTO".
    SAP Note 1029297 describes that error, but it shouldn't exist for SCM/APO 5.0, just for 4.0?
    What can I do here?

    Hi Matthias - There is something wrong with the orders that are being selected for the heuristic. Internally the one or more of the orders is missing ATP categories and orderid - perhaps these are not orders that are being selected? Check what transactions exist in the time period you are running the heuristic for and what types of orders the heuristic is selecting.

  • Creation of SNP planned order based on PDS

    Hi,
    I'm a APO developer and I have the following problem:
    I would like to create a SNP planned order based on a PDS (like e. g. in the planning book when you input a number into a cell in the "Production (Planned)" line).
    Up to now I've only managed to create such an order without using the PDS.
    Can you name me a function module which allowes me to do that?

  • Credit block orders transfer of requirements to SNP

    Hi Gurus,
    I work on the Demand Planning stream, but i would like to know if APO SNP Heuristic would behave the same as R/3 regarding Credit Blocked orders.
    in R/3 due to Requirement 101 in OVB8, the credit blocked sales orders do not get confirmed, yet they still send the requirements to MRP MD04.
    what is the logic in SNP or PPDS for this, does a special requirement type gets generated in SNP, even though the Sales Order is not confirmed and not showing in APO DP?

    I will never recommend what Siva has mentioned. What it means is that
    1. The "Item" - Component will no longer be copied when a Production/Process/Planned order is created.
    2. System does not create any reservation for that material.
    3. If you need to Issue that material to an order, it will be "unplanned" Issue.
    Hope you understood the problems associated with this.....I would suggest to go with Planning strategy "11". If it is external Procurement look at different MRP type.

  • Forecast not released from DP to SNP on first day of the release horizon

    Dear Experts,
    We are releasing forecast from DP to SNP every week on Saturday. We also have maintained daily bucket profile to release it in days for first 180 days.
    Now the problem is occurs when the background job for DP to SNP forecast release happens on Satruday. For ex. if on Sat 31st Jan 2015, the job runs, it should release the requirements from Mon i.e 2nd Feb, but it is releasing starting from 3rd Feb and it is skipping Monday.
    If we do it manually, then it works correctly. Hence I assume the master data, period split profile is correctly maintained.
    Even the calendar has 2nd Feb as working day.
    Please let me know if any one of you has ever encountered such issue and any pointers would certainly help.

    Maybe your program is executed using a different variant.
    In your case, considering that when you test the release manually it works ok, I would check the variant used in your job.
    Go to SM37, identify the background job that was executed on Saturday. Select the job and press Steps. You will see 1 or more programs and variants. Select the line corresponding to the release program, go to the main menu --> Goto --> Variant. Check the starting date.. it should be Feb 2nd.

  • Problem While deleting a  PP/DS PPM

    Hi,
    I am trying to delete SNP PPMs and PP/DS PPMS, the  problem is only with PP/DS PPMS is it is showing up an error saying " Plan cannot be deleted since there are orders referencing it "
    I went into RLCDEL transaction and deleted all orders from AA to ZZ and even checked in the Product View but there were no Planned orders or Production orders, Even after checking with the orders individually the error message is still persistent.
    Please Suggest.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    There are a few ways to view orders in the system.
    You could use the "Where Used List" transaction code WUF and then select the object type you are interested in, eg PPM or Product. This will then list all the related data items that use that object, eg all the orders etc.
    The transaction /sapapo/cdps_rept will allow you to list orders by resource/location etc.
    You can also display livecache contents through transaction /sapapo/om16, using the "Orders" tab would allow you to select by location for example.
    Alternatively, you could use the tables /sapapo/ordmap and /sapapo/ordkey to find orders, however you need to relate the two via the GUID's to make full sense of the data!

  • SNP Heuristic: Creation of purchase requisition

    Hi experts,
    we face following problem: heuristic creates purchase orders when there is no source of supply.
    Background:
    there is a forecast demand for a location product on a customer location without transport lane to the production plant due to false master data.
    The SNP heuristic generates purchase requisitions to fulfill the demand and there is no requirements shortage.
    So it is hard to recognize which forecast demands can't be fulfilled.
    Is there a parameter in material master or in a heuristic profie which disables the creation of purchase requisitions in snp heuristic when there is no source of supply.
    If no purchase requisition is created there will be a requirement shortage which can be recognised by an alert.

    As per heuristic process , the system will create a purchase requisition if there are no Tlane exists and the material's procurement type is F/X since it is a infinite planning.
    Now you can use a optimizer or CTM to restrict the system from creating purchase requisition.
    Also you can try with location heuristic.

  • SNP Planned order not following resource bucket capacity/factory calendar

    Hi gurus,
    SCM 5.0
    I am running SNP heuristics for a product and expecting planned orders for it.  It has corresponding production data structure and multimixed resource.  The resource has an assignd factory calendar and SNP bucket capacity.  The bucket capactiy availablity dates of the resouce is consistent with the factory calendar workdays/holidays.  Using simple lot for lot strategy, I am expecting heuristics to schedule the planned orders on the dates of the demand in compliance with teh SNP bucket capacity availability of the resource.  APO does not schedule on holidays consistent with bucket capactiy.  This is true until...
    We have a public holiday in factory calendar that needs to become a workday. To remedy this, we put a special rule for the factory calendar and explicitly made that holiday into a workday.  The changes were synchronized with APO, and this is also reflected in the bucket capacity of the resourc: former holiday now has bucket capacity after the calendar change.  However, when running heuristics, it still does not create SNP planned order on that former holiday that has been changed into workday.  Even if it is a public holiday, there is already a special rule for the factory calendar and the resource bucket capacity reflects this correctly. But SNP heuristics seems not to follow this change.
    Any ideas on this? looks like a bug.

    Yes, when your resource reflects the addional capacity of the holiday turned working day, then it is expected to be considered for the SNP planned order.
    Instead of SNP heuristics, you may try to check interactively in SNP planning book, if manual order creation in the bucket works out.
    Since this is a mutlimix  resource , it can also be checked if in PPDS planned order can be created on the day.
    The above checking may not solve your problem , but will get to know if at least manully the bucket is being considered or not.

  • Creation of SNP PDS using planned delivery time

    Dear Experts,
    How do i control creation of PDS because of operaion generated from planned delivery time,although planed delivery ime is zero.
    the scenario is as follows:
    Material :XXXXX
    Planned Delivery time
    Procurement Type:E
    Plant:XXXX
    in transaction /sapapo/curto_simu: there are two PDS displayed with PDS usage as PDS for Supply Network Planning(SNP)
    the first one is because of operation generated fromm planned delivery time,output qty is the same a s that maintained as base qty in BOM and mode is blank,activity field is even blank.
    the other PDS is created because of the valid production version in R/3.

    Thanx for a quick revert.
    Yes we are using reciepe and we have a valid PDS being generated because of Production Version.
    The problem lies with the creation of other PDS from planned delivery time whereinplanned delivery time is zero.I want a resolution so as the system doesnot create thses PDS which are invalid in nature.
    These invalid PDS are hamperring result out of SNp optimizer for the reason these are considered in the input log of optimizer.

  • Creation of SNP Planned Orders using Optimizer

    Dear Experts .....
    I am facing some problems while creating SNP Planned orders using Optmizer ( Discret Optimization).....
    For eg.
    I am using 3 months horizon ... the first two months is daily buckets with 12 hours capacity each one and the last month is weekly buckets.
    The product minimun lot size exceed the daily capacity .... this way planned order have been created in the weekly buckets at the end of the horizon.
    I need the system to create orders in the correct date avoiding use of safety stock .....

    It is still not working .... iI am receiving the following message ...

    Message no. /SAPAPO/SNPOPT159
    Diagnosis
    Production process model 00000000000001011301001             S at location 0100 is intended for cross-period lot size planning. It can be started in bucket 20110404->20110404. However, it does not then end in the same bucket.
