SNP to PPDS order conversion

Hi,
I am trying to do small testing over PP run in SAP APO.
I have created everything manually in SAP APO(Product, location,No source of supply at Plant)
When running SNP at plant getting planned order without source of supply. Now i am trying to convert the same order into PPDS order using program(indicator is set).
Getting the below error:
"In-house production 188401198 is not valid for the conversion"
Any suggestion if this conversion is posible?
Thanks,
Krishna

Hi Krishna,
Yes you can create the order without source of supply by doing setting in Model/Planning Version Management  /SAPAPO/MVM but you cant use that for conversion.
Go to SPRO---Supply Chain Planning----Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS)---Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) here you will get the Heuristic Conversion SNP->PP/DS in that it is define Use SNP source of supply.

    hi,
I am new to APO. How to get PPDS and SNP planned orders from livecache.
    Regards
    Dhanu

    1)     I am able to get all SNP and PPDS order using BAPI called BAPI_PPDSSRVAPS_GET_IO_NODES from Live cache. This BAPI fetching order id as key field.
    2)     I need to fetch the data from DMCP table using this order id but there is no link with this order id with DMCP table.
    3)     There is a field called GUID in DMCP table. I used one FM to convert order ids to GUIDs to get the data from DMCP table. All order ids got converted into GUID.
    4)     Till here everything is good.
    5)     But when I am trying to pull the data from DMCP table based on GUID, it is pulling only SNP orders not PP/DS orders.
    6)     I have tried so many ways but I am getting SNP orders only.
    7) I need SNP and PPDS orders

    Hello ,
The hueristics sap_pp_002 you are using is based on algorithm "planning of std. lots".
For converting Supply Network Planning (SNP) orders or Capable-to-Match(CTM) orders into Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) orders, try to  use a heuristic based on the algorithm /SAPAPO/HEU_SNP_CONVERT, such as the standard heuristic SAP_SNP_SNGL..
I think the above mentioned hueristics should be able to solve the problem .
Also for more information refer to below link.

  • Convert SNP Orders to PPDS Orders in CIF

We have a requirement to segregate the orders created in SNP and scheduled in ECC.  I know this can be done with the Production Planned and Production Confirmed key figures based on ATP Category as EE is for SNP and AJ, AK, AL, AI are PPDS.  The complication is we are not using PPDS for short term scheduling; therefore ECC will control the short term scheduling.  We are currently removing the Firm indicator on ECC for any SNP (EE) order using a user exit.  This allows for seeing the SNP orders as not scheduled (not firmed) in ECC.  When the scheduler firms the planned order in ECC we want the order to show in the production confirmed key figure in SNP.  This can be done by setting the EE Firmed to the Production Confirmed key figure, but now the SNP Planner has SNP Orders on two different key figures.  Therefore, our requirement is to change any SNP order (EE Category) to a PPDS order if it is firmed.   This way Production Planned are SNP orders only and Production Confirmed are scheduled or created ECC orders.
We have tried using APOCF004 to change the APOAPPL from a 3 to a 1 and BADI ORDER_INB_MODIFY_AFTER_MERGE changing cs_ordkey-appli from 4 to 2.  Neither of these options worked.  Possibly because of the difference in structures and number range, the system is not doing the convert.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

    Hi,
Please check the settings in the heuristics  SAP_SNP_SNGL(Individual Conversion SNP --> PP/DS) or SAP_SNP_MULT, whatever you are using.
PPDS horizon is relevent for the conversion and SNP horizon may not be relevant.
    The details are as below:
The conversion horizon for SNP to PPDS is decided as below.
    Conversion Hprizon
The offset and the PP/DS horizon together define the conversion horizon, that is, the period in which you want to convert Supply Network Planning (SNP) orders and Capable-To-Match Planning (CTM) orders into Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) orders:
    Conversion horizon = PP/DS horizon + offset
You must specify a positive value for the offset. The conversion horizon begins on today's date and continues for the relevant number of calendar days into the future. So that the system converts an SNP or CTM order into a PP/DS order, the start date/time of the order must be within the conversion horizon. If you want to extend the conversion horizon to the end of the SNP or CTM planning period in which the end of the conversion horizon lies, you enter a daily buckets profile.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem in order conversion in ppds in receipt view.

    Hi,  Guru's,
I have a problem, that we have implemented new plant & product in our existing APO in roll out project for PPDS & GATP settings while converting order in receipt view in /n/sapapo/rrp3 or /n/sapapo/rrp2, order is not getting converted nor giving any log in R/3, in CFG1, while seen that plan order is having resources & operation activity.
    Pls suggest.

    Hi
    Please check the following
    1) Check whether in customisation for PPDS, the order conversion is defined
    2) Check number ranges is defined for all orders both in R/3 and in PPDS
    3) In product view, try entering manual order conversion by clicking the
conversion indicator and find out what is the error it is showing
    4) Is the Source of supply is defined properly
    5) Check the PPM (both PPDS and SNP) whether maintained properly (also
carry out consistenc check for PPM in transaction /sapapo/scc03)

  • SNP to PPDS conversion log not displaying all errors

    Hi Experts,
We use a batch job to convert SNP orders to PPDS order.
Post successful job completion, we checked in receipts view (/sapapo/rrp4) and found that there were some SNP orders still lying within PPDS horizon (these orders were not converted to PPDS orders)
But these erroneous orders were not displayed in  logs (/sapapo/rrplog1).
Is there any configuration/setting that is restricting the display of these orders ?
    Thanks

  • Should PPDS orders consume capacity in the SNP Capacity view in 9ASNP94?

    Dear Gurus
Should PPDS orders consume capacity in the Capacity View in 9ASNP94?
We currently only use PPDS, but are looking to implement SNP for mid-range planning and S&OP.  I would like to demonstrate the simplicity of the capacity view in SNP, but the planned orders in PPDS do not consume the capacity of the Resource in the standard planning book/view SNP94(2).  We are using Single mixed production resources which I thought were suitable for both PPDS and SNP planning.  This is a particular concern because I would expect that the SNP and PPDS horizons will have to cross over and so PPDS and SNP will have to take into account the capacity consumed by orders in the other module.
    Any help will be appreciated!
    Elamobel

If you are using PDS you probably need this BADI:
Note 657185 - RTO: Sample code for calculating bucket consumptions 4.0
As standard only the continuous consumption is maintained in the PDS by the CIF, the bucket consumption (which is the SNP view of capacity) is missing.
Check the related notes too (especially 1462965)
If you are using PPMs you can just maintain the missing data directly

  • PPDS - Order should start at the shift start

    Hi Experts,
We have SNP orders that always start at 00:00:00 and finish at midnight 23:59:59
We convert them to PPDS orders, and we would like the orders to always begin at the shift start, which is 6:00 am. Any ideas on how we can make the PPDS orders to start or finish at a fixed time.
    Regards,
    Zeeshan.

    Thanks guys,
I have shifts and correct start dates maintained in the resource. but the problem still remains.
The system takes the end date of the SNP order as a basis for backward scheduling, and not the shift start or end date. I beleive that is the standard behaviour.
Is there a way to force the PPDS orders to start or end at a specific time?
    Regards,
    Zeeshan.

  • SNP/DP/PPDS/GATP/CIF

    Hi Experts,
As i am new to APO, i would like to know what is SNP, DP, PPDS, GATP AND CIF and what is the link between all these. I worked in some concepts of PPDS and CIF. But not aware of SNP and DP. And also apart from these submoduls in APO , are there any other modules which comes under APO?

    Hi
APO Demand Planning is a set of functionalities around Demand Management, Statistical Forecasting, Promotion and Life-cycle Planning processes. It is an integral part of any organizations Sales & Operations Planning Process.
Demand Planning can primarily be divided in two areas - Data Mart and Demand Management Functionalities. The Data Mart portion of APO DP is basically the SAP BW component with all BW related transactions and objects available.
Supply Network Planning is a set of functionalities around Distribution Requirement Planning, Deployment, Demand and Supply Matching and Optimization.
Along with Demand Planning it is an integral part of any organizations Sales & Operations Planning Process.
APO Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling is a set of functionalities around Inhouse Production Planning, External Procurement Planning, Resource Scheduling and Sequence Optimization.
PPDS is primarily divided in two areas - Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling. This component has the highest amount of integration between APO and the OLTP (R/3 or ERP) system for real-time transaction data transfer back and forth.
CIF is the standard interface between ERP (R/3 or ECC) and APO used to transfer master and transaction data. While Master Data transfer is unidirectional, transaction data is bi-directional.
Global Available-to-Promise is a set of functions around Order Promising and Fulfillment checking across the whole supply chain. Some of the important functions are Rules-based Availability Check, Product and Location Substitution and Capable-to-Promise. Capable-to-Promise function is where production orders get created in the event of shortage during a Sales Order ATP check.
Multi-level ATP is an advanced method of ATP Check for confirming customer request or Sales Order by checking for on-time component availability.
Product Allocation check is possible in APO using Demand Planning functionality to ease the management of Allocation Quantity.

  • Changing & deleting the SNP PDS planned order in APO using BAPI

    Hi,
There is a requirement to consolidate the SNP PDS planned order created from CTM in APO. This is to change one of the SNP PDS planned order by adding the quantities of the other planned order , which is to make it into one & delete the other SNP PDS planned order. Can this be done progrmatically using BAPI?. As we know this cant be changed in RRP3 as the SNP-PDS are uneditable. Please help me on this one. As I need the solution to this ASAP.
Is there any BAPI/FM using which SNP PDS planned order can be changed? What is the BAPI for PPDS planned order creation / change?
    With thanks & regards,

    Hi Mariano,
I have gone through the description of the FM it says:
This function module is complex and is subject to several technical restrictions. For this reason, you should not use ORDER_CHANGE for extended periods of time.
    The recommended alternatives are:
    OM_ORDER_CREATE
    for creating orders
    OM_ORDER_DELETE
    for deleting orders
    OM_ORDER_MODIFY
    for changing existing order components
Have you used these FM any time?.Kindly share more details in case is you have used them.

  • SNP and PPDs horizons

    Hi,
If I have SNP horizon of 0 days and PPDs horizon of 0 days. Then does the system plan twice and I see double the quantities because both SNP and PPDS are planning the same time? I mean does it create both SNP and PPDS planned orders doubling the planned qty.?
    Thanks.

Typically if both these horizons are zero in the Location Product, the system is supposed to check the PPDS horizon kept in /n/sapapo/mvm transaction. Usually its a best practice to have a non-zero value in the version level. under the situation where even PPDS horizon at version level is 0, I would expect PPDS orders not be created at all by any systemic process. (different PPDS heuristics work differently though) However it should be possible to create PPDS orders manually outside of the PPDS horizon. Usually SNP orders are deleted and PPDS orders created in its place by the PPDS solver as soon as those orders are inside the PPDS horizon. I would be surprised by what you are observing though.

  • Difference between SNP and PPDS.

    Hi all,
i want to know the functional diff betwn Snp and PPDS. .
i mean what activities come under Snp, after what activities it is under PPDS. . .
Any info on the same will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Prasad.

    Hi Prasad,
SNP basically does rough cut capacity planning on a constrained or unconstraint situation whereas PPDS does time continous finite capacity based on constraint or unconstaint situation.
SNP & PPDS works on horizons.  There are scenarios were SNP horizon can overlap with PPDS horizon.
SNP uses SNP PPM as master data whereas PPDS PPM as master data.  The output are SNP orders and PPDS orders.
The minimum day for SNP planning is 1 day whereas PPDS can go upto even 1 sec(ie microscopic planning)
Starting from a demand plan, Supply Network Planning determines a permissible short- to medium-term plan for fulfilling the estimated sales volumes. This plan covers both the quantities that must be transported between two locations (for example, distribution center to customer or production plant to distribution center), and the quantities to be produced and procured. When making a recommendation, Supply Network Planning compares all logistical activities to the available capacity
We use the Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) component
    a) To create procurement proposals for in-house production or external procurement to cover product requirements
    b)  To optimize and plan the resource schedule and the order dates/times in detail

  • Rolling schedules for steel options between SNP and PPDS

We are trying to set up something within the APO SNP/PPDS tool to
    plan rolling schedules for steel.
eg multiple resources, most of which are 100 percent rolling schedules,
with many different "blocks", and common rolls may occur say every 4 weeks, or
    every 14 weeks.
And so each roll we need to plan "Quantity required before the next roll" - eg
    a 14 week quantity.
We have set up PPDS Blocks using CDP settings with characteristics in our
    test system.
Seperate to that we have an SNP model where we plan across multiple plants,
for a 12-24 month period, and we have multiple level BOMS where there may
be 2 semi-finished products between the Finished and Raw material. Eg heat
    treated and non-heat treated.
Sometimes one of the interim semi-finished products is the bottleneck, so we
need to use capacity leveling to reduce quantities at all levels of the BOM.
Our main issue is that the SNP quantities that we plan, we are not able to feed into
the PPDS blocks, as SNP does not deal with characteristics.
So in our test, all we can do is use the SNP quantities for higher level plans.
Then delete the SNP orders, and re-run a new PPDS plan to get quantities in our blocks,
but we then have lost all the capacity levelling information from SNP.
Does anyone have any method to deal with this scenario? ie how to model rolling schedules
by utilising the strengths of the SNP mult-plant and capacity leveling data, and then
somehow also taking into account "blocks", or "rolling schedules"?

In our testing. With CDP setting, we create a fcst element with a characteristic on the material. eg RED/BLUE/GREEN, and in PPDS, I can then create a PPDS order with the characterstic linked and visible in the PPDS order, and linked to the BLOCK on the resource (Blocks of RED GREEN for example)
But SNP orders do not work with these characteristics.
This is backed up by various documentation from SAP.
    eg
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm50/helpdata/en/b0/3c2463c7cbb54bacfb75c789100ad4/content.htm
SNP cannot plan with characteristics. However, the characteristic assignments remain and can be evaluated in PP/DS.
    CDP in SNP
CDP cannot be used in SNP as the SNP does __not support__ characteristics.

  • SNP and PPDS Horizon

    Hi All,
Can anyone please let mw know what exactly is the difference between SNP and PPDS Horizon ??
    How is it identified. .
What are the applications of using these horizons . .
    Thanks in Advance,
    Prasad.

SNP Horizon: Time segment, during which SAP APO Supply Network Planning (SNP) does not plan production. This means that SNP does not create any planned orders in it but shifts production to the first day after the end of the production horizon.
PPDS Horizon: Time segment in which Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) can automatically create, change, or delete receipts. The duration of the horizon begins on the current date and continues for this number of calendar days into the future.
