So all data 'sync' is one way?

I read that contacts edited in the iPhone do not transfer back to the address book on your mac...is this true for all functions of the iPhone?
I just edited (via my iphone) some appointments I had after meeting times changed. When I did the syncing, like I have always done, but when I went to add something else to iCal (on the computer) later that day I noticed that my changed meeting times were unchanged.
Did I do something wrong or does iTunes not put anything back on the computer...only updates the iPhone with items changed in the computer itself?

The sync function for calendar events and address book contracts is in both directions. I have tested this myself with calendar events and address book contacts without noticing any problems yet.
Try a simple shutdown/startup first and then re-sync.
No change, try an iPhone reset which doesn't affect data or settings.
To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time until you see the Apple logo.
Next try selectively removing certain content like calendar events and address book contacts from the iPhone and then adding them back.
Next try reset all settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
This will reset all settings. No data or media will be deleted.
If that does not resolve it, try erasing all settings.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents and Settings.
This will delete all media and data. All settings will be reset as well.
Still not resolved, try a complete restore.

The photos are now on your computer and you don't want them on your new iPad?
Then move this photos on your computer to another location (folder) first and then sync.

My iPhone calendar and iCloud sync only one way

My iPhone 4 (iOS 5) calendar and iCloud sync only one way -- from iCloud to the phone. Any ideas why I can't sync from my iPhone calendar to iCloud?

When you add an event on Iphone, 3rd fields down from bottom, select calender > iCloud. Voila!!
I am not sure everybody understand really the intention with iCloud. It is one single calender residing on a Apple server somewhere. Selecting iCloud from any device will show this calender. Then how to sync this with other calenders is to me a mystery, or not possible, especially on Lion iCal. Please anyone.

None of the spreadsheet apps that work with Excel files offer anything like full native support in iOS. Apple's own Numbers app pairs down features for the iOS version. The hardware is simply not up to what a true computer is capable of, so all apps like QuickOffice, DocumentsToGo, Numbers and so forth offer reduced features from their computer-version counterparts.
I think a custom app will be your only real choice, be it a fully standalone app, or something built in filemaker or some other db-based platform.

IMHO the best way is to change logic of program which generate xml
it's better because
- in package (as example of program which generate xml) you can contain full logic
- in template you will have only loop by tags
- simple maintain
for your case
- simple package (as example of program which generate xml)
- in template complex logic which depend on many factors as example version of bip
- very complex logic in template which imply hard maintain

Why is Mail rule syncing only one way?

Odd. I've got a Mac mini and an iMac, both running 10.8.2, both with iCloud syncing Documents & Data. Mail on the mini has rules -- created on that machine -- for SpamSieve that are not syncing to the iMac; in fact, both rules disappear every few days and I only notice because spam starts piling up.
On the other hand, changes to Mail rules on the iMac are synced to the mini. The mini has been running Mountain Lion for five months; the rules only started disappearing after I upgraded to ML on the iMac last month.
Any ideas on why the syncing is only one-way?

The calendar is syncing from Outlook to Ipad from my personal folders. However, the calendar is syncing to Outlook in a hotmail calendar in the profile that I didn't know existed. How do I get it set right.
I tried to select the calendar. However only one calendar is available in itunes. It must be the correct calendar as it is syncing fine. So how do I get ipad to sync back to the personal folders calendar instead of the hotmail calendar in my profile?

Can someone explain to me why iTunes will only sync photos ONE WAY from my PC to my iPhone, and not vice versa?

I have photos on my iPhone and want to put them on my PC. Should be straightforward, right?
So I go ahead and install iTunes, and plug in my phone, and sure enough iTunes tells me I've got 1610 photoes on my iPhone. It won't let me actually SEE them, of course. Fine (no, not really fine). So I create a blank folder on my PC and proceed to do a sync. My options are to (a) Sync FROM "My Pictures" to the phone, or (b) choose another and sync FROM my PC TO the phone.
Where is the option to sync FROM my phone TO my PC????
It boggles my mind that I have to go outside of iTunes and use Windows Explorer to copy the photos from the phone to the computer. So I go to "My Computer" and within the iphone Internal Storage there is only a DCIM folder and two sub-folders. There are only 800 photos there! Where are the other ones?
Evidently what I can see from Windows Explorer is ONLY the pictures I took with the phone itself, and NOT the pictures I saved from email attachments or instant messages! Why? Where are they and how can I access them???
SO far, the closest thing I have been able to find is to have to buy a third party App like "Simple Transfer" to do this. Is this really the case? Or am I missing something?

Photo sync is only one way, computer to iPhone.
To get pictures from the iPhone to the computer, copy them to the computer as you would with any other device.
Pictures saved from emails or instant messages (if done on the device) are in the camera roll.
Pictures previously synced to the device from a computer are not available to be copied off the device. They should already be on a computer.

Is there a way of swapping all data over from one ipad to another ipad and vice verse?

Another family member and I both have iPad 3, they have with 3g and mine just wifi. We are discussing swapping so I can have the 3g feature as its more useful for me. Is there a way of swapping all their data to my ipad and my data to their ipad so it is a straight swap?

What you want to do would be no different that restoring your current content to a brand new iPad. You should both do as described below and then erase your respective devices and make the swap.
First ... and you both want to do this.... Transfer purchases from your iPad into iTunes on your computer, backup the iPad and then sync with iTunes.

You may want to import photos from the device to your computer as well so that you can sync them back at a later time. Your camera roll photos are stored in the backup, but it never hurts to be proactive.

After you have transferred purchases, backed up and transferred photos, you can erase your iPad before you swap devices. Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. That will completely wipe your devices.
Now you can swap and you will both be starting from scratch like you did when the iPad was new.
When you re-activate the new iPad, the one you are getting from your family member - toward the end of the activation process you will be given the opportunity to restore from an iCloud or iTunes backup. You want to select the iTunes option. So you will have to connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and restore from the backup and then sync with iTunes.
Restoring from the backup will recover all of you app data and settings, syncing with iTunes will recover all of your apps, books, photos, music and other media

Not all audiobooks sync, even ones from itunes store!

I have a pile of audio books, some from the itunes store, some as mp3's converted to m4b, and some from audible.
I have free space on my iphone, all music is set to be synced, and when i click sync it transfers files, however some audiobooks dont sync.
I have like 13 in itunes, and only 9 sync, 1 i bought from itunes store syncs, and another i bought from the itunes store does not sync, along with some audible and some converted ones.
I recieve no error, when i go to my audiobook section of my iphone they are simply not there.
I can plug my phone back in and click sync, sometimes it then shows me it is syncing one of the ones that it didnt sync before, but this time my iphone itunes sais "No Content", and i have to unsync and resink my whole freaking libary.
Now these files that dont sync, are real, they work, and they used to sync before.
Anyone have any ideas why itunes is not syncing everything.

Reggie, are these audiobooks you purchased from iTunes, or that you ripped from CDs?
If they're from CDs, you may find them in your music (use the book title as the album title) rather than in the audiobook section.

ICal sync only one-way

Lion OS on iMac. Syncing using iCloud. An iCal event entered on iPhone will show up on iMac iCal, however, an event entered on iMac iCal will not show up on iPhone. Events enetred on phone or iMac DO appear on web iCloud.
Address book contacts (also synced with iCloud) work both ways, it appears to be only iCal events eneterd on iMac that do not show up on iPhone.
I have checked to make sure all cals are visable, and all sync settings are on.
Ideas please.

First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

Ipad 3 is syncing only one way with outlook 2010

I am seeing calendar items that I add in Outlook 2010 added to the Ipad. However, appointments added in Ipad are not being added to Outlook.
I have not checked contacts (All were added to the Ipad).But I have not tried adding a new contact yet.
Is this normal behavior? If not, how do I get it to work properly?

TCP/IP DataInputStream reads not all data send in one time?

I have a C program that sends 4104 bytes of data to a java client.
In my java client I have a buffer of 4104 bytes that reads the data using a DataInputStream. Now my problem is that the read function returns with only 1460 bytes instead of 4104 bytes.
I only have this problem on a new type of PC we are using.
Now I was wondering when you have a TCP/IP session doesn't every send results in 1 recv (read)?
Does this differ for various platforms? (is that buffer size adjustable)

written in one application will be delivered as a
single block to the receiver.Is there a place I can read that specification?Usually people need to understand an API in order to be able to use it. TCP sockets present a continuous stream paradigm: the data stream starts when the connection is established and ends when the connection is closed. Now reread your own question: you want to read a block of data from such a stream without knowing the size of the block. That just makes no sense. It is like trying to read first X bytes from a file stream without actually knowing what X is. The number of bytes available immediately on a socket read is subject to all kinds of random factors on the network and has nothing to do with the amount of data the server is actually trying to send as a "block". That is, a single write() on the server does not necessarily correspond to a single read() on the client.
A common solution to this problem is to have an implicit block size (that is, it is fixed and known apriory) or prefix your payload with the block size. An example of the latter would be to send the block size as the block header (say, an int in network byte order) so that the receiving end could read the size first and then perform a loop that continuously reads from the socket until it reads exactly the required amount.
In other words, TCP sockets just provide you with a continuous stream paradigm. You need to impose some kind of an application protocol on top of it to build client-server dialogs. This is what's done behind the scenes by CORBA, RMI, HTTP etc.

Two iPhones, two computers - need all data transferred to one iPhone

I was using a 2G iPhone and was syncing it with my desktop (Mac) on a regular basis. I was traveling for a month and sorta synced it with my laptop (also a Mac), though I cannot remember whether or not the contacts actually synced - I want to say that they did not, in case it matters. I did purchase and download a couple of apps while traveling, though.
One month later, I decided to splurge for the 3GS (woo hoo!). I now need to sync the 3GS with my desktop and copy the apps off of my 2G so I'll have it all in one place.
I have resynced the 2G with my desktop, but the apps didn't "upload" (not that I expected them to).
I'm sure I'm not the only one out there with multiple computers & multiple iPhones - anyone have any advice for me?

If you purchased music or apps on the iPhone then the file>transfer purchases from iPhone will copy them to the new computer and should prompt you to authorize the new computer.
If you purchased music or apps on the computer then you will need to copy those to the new computer's iTunes library. This is easy if they are on the same network with Home Sharing within iTunes. iTunes 9: Understanding Home Sharing http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3819
Once all the music and/or apps are on the new computer then make sure you have a good backup on the new computer. You can control-click on the iPhone under devices in iTunes and select backup. Your previous iPhone should contain all your SMS history, call history, photos, contacts, calendars, ect. Now when you connect the new iPhone 3Gs it will prompt if you want to setup as a new iPhone or restore from backup. Choose restore from backup.

Calendar and Contact Sync: Force one way only?

Is there any way to force Outlook to always be the sync "master"? i.e. regardless of what I do on the touch (say, delete a contact), when I sync, the touch will be forced to match Outlook (and replace the contact)?
Or is that the default behavior, and I have some other issue?
I have had a couple of instances of appointments being deleted from Outlook during the sync (I think the "do not sync appts older than 30 days" really means "delete" them in outlook")

You are able to export your contacts and import them to your Gmail account. Below is a very good post that will provide you the steps to export the contacts using Backup Assistant and then import them to your Gmail account.

In regards to the calendar, you can view other calendars by following the steps listed below:
