So are we close to getting a version of Smart Web Printing for Firefox or not?

Subject says it all - when, oh when, will we get SWP for Firefox 3+ ?

I'm tired of waiting for HP to supprt this add-on for FF 3.0 and just want SWP gone!  From FireFox and my machine.
It started as a very useful add-on but, since it is not being supported, I want it gone
There is no option to  uninstall it in my extension manager (it's faded out)  and I can not find anything under add/remove programs in XPPro.
I even started a new profile, and it still shows up in the extension manager.
Is there a removal tool or how do I get rid of it? What should I look for in the FF profile.
I thinks I was able to use SWP once before the FF update. I never really got a chance to learn how to use it. Now it is useless.
Why offer something that you are not going to support HP?
Great idea HP, poor follow-thru

  • How can I get "smart Web Printing" off Firefox - since it doesn't work here??

When will HP recognize that Firefox is used by a lot of customers??

    Hi,
If you don't have the Menu Bar displayed, right click just above the address bar and place a tick against Menu Bar.  Now click Tools, click Add-ons,click the Extensions tab, left click Smart Web Printing once to highlight it and then click the Uninstall option.  When done, restart Firefox.

  • How can I get a list of open web pages in Firefox (in Linux)?

I would like to know how to get a list of open web pages in Firefox (in Linux), because I have a shortcut to open a web page and I want to get it to see if Firefox has the page open first so that it doesn't open duplicates.

You see the "List All Tabs" button in current Firefox versions if there are that many tabs open that you get the Tab bar scroll buttons appearing.
Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.

The customization files userChrome.css (user interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder.

  • I deleted the HP Smart Web Printing (but kept the link) and now I don't know how to get it back.

I had 23 Microsoft updates and 12 did not update. I am 73 and not very computer literate. I finally (accidentally) discovered that, at least part of the problem, was that I must have installed Explorer 9. It told me to update to a new driver/software. I was trying to do it step-by-step and that's when I deleted the Smart Web Printing. On the second step of trying to fix it, it would not update because it says it doesn't support 64 bit (which I have). It only supposed 32 bit. HELP. I can't figure out how to get my smart web printing back. Also, I don't know how to get my system back to a lower Explorer since I apparently have 9.

    Hello BarbG,
HP no longer offers the Smart Web Print software available for download since the change to Smart Print. Rather than trying to get around this maybe we can look at at least resolving the issues you are having.
For one the Smart Print software can be found here
HP Smart Web Printing Software Replaced by HP Smart Print
Available on the link are step by step instructions on installation and setup of Smart Print, including videos on how to use Smart Print so you can become accustomed to using it.
Now before we get into that what you will want to do is verify that you are truely running IE9 64 bit versus the 32 bit. HP Smart Print only supports 32 bit so we want to make sure we are using that.
To check the version of IE you are running follow these steps.
    1. Launch Internet Explorer
    2. Click on Help
    3. Select About Internet Explorer
    4. If the version of Internet Explorer has 64 bit next to it then you are running the 64 bit version. If it doesn't say then you are running the 32 bit version and are good!
If you are running the 64 bit version we next need to see if you already have the 32 bit version on your computer.
    1.Click on Start
    2. Select All programs
    3. Look for Internet Explorer (64-bit)
Just below that entry should be another entry called "Internet Explorer" This version of Internet Explorer should be the 32 bit version and you can verify this by repeating the before mentioned steps.
Once you verify that you are running the 32 bit version of IE then you can proceed with installing the Smart Print software.
Also note a few other additional places to check and run IE 32 bit are below:
Go to start->all program->accessories, IE 32 bit version should be located here
You can also find the IE 32 bit version in this path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe."

  • I'm running Firefox 3.6.23. I get the message that HP Smart Web Printing is not compatible.

I'm running Firefox 3.6.23 under Windows 7 64 bit. I want to use the HP Smart Web Printing program but under the add-ons I get the message that it is not compatible with this version. What ver. should I be running for compatibility? I saw at one time the icon on the toolbar but it went away after the next reboot. Help.

  • HP Smart Web Printing / IE8 / Windows Vista: Cannot get icon to appear!

I've installed HP Smart Web Printing 4.5.1 in IE8 running under Vista SP2.  I cannot get the icon to appear.  Under Tools/Manage Add-ons, "Show or Hide HP Smart Web Printing" is reported as "enabled".  When I select "Show or hide HP Smart Web Printing" under the double arrows at the far right of the tool bar, nothing happens.  I see others have had some success at getting through this, but nothing seems to be working for me.  I've tried removing and re-installing the utility to no avail.  What do I have to do?

Hey HP ...  Does anyone from HP monitor these posts and provide answers, as one might expect?  Is anyone listening?  Is anyone there?  Does anyone CARE?

  • HP Smart Web Printing only works on Explorer not Firefox 4 are you going to update this as I do not want to change back to Explorer.

I just downloaded the HP Smart Web Printing which is free for those who purchase printers. It provides ability to select and clip or print web pages. It works on Explorer but not Firefox 4. There are many such questions on forums in both HP and Firefox. I love Firefox and would hate to have to go back to Explorer.
Firefox 4 also does not appear to have "Send to OneNote" either. I used to be able to do this in Firefox 3.

  • Smart web printing add-on and new versions of Firefox

Having a problem with HP smart web printing add-on with recent versions of Firefox (3.6.12 today)?
This is the way to go around it.
Locate the "C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\smart web printing " folder. In it there should be a mozilla add-on folder. Click on it. Open the "install.rdf"  file with notepad. Change the content of the  <em:maxVersion> tag to 3.6.* (or later version). for example you will have <em:maxVersion>3.6.*.*</em:maxVersion>. Save "install.rdf".
Then select all the files, folders in the mozilla addon folder (chrome, components, default, plugins,  xre, chrome.manifest, and install.rdf) and zip them. Any name will do (my_hpwebprinting, for example). Once zipped, change its extension (zip) into xpi.
Then just slide this file (my_hpwebprinting.xpi) on the firefox icon. Wait until a firefox page opens and drop the xpi file on it.
You will then be able to use hp smart web printing with FF after restarting it.

  • I am getting sick of trying to find a specific area to solve a problem with version 4. If this continues I will not continue with FIREFOX!!!!

I updated to version 4 and Roboform which worked fine with the previous version which is unknown to me. I have lost things which I used to use and don't know how to access them, I can't say what they were but when I want them that will become apparent. One thing I can bring to mind is my virus protection indicator which was below the main taskbar and should appear automatically.

If you are using the '''Full RoboForm Toolbar''', install the Roboform adapter for '''Firefox 3.0 - 4 beta X''' from here: <br />
    http://www.roboform.com/firefox.html
Scroll down that page, you want the one shown under: <br /> '''Additional Full RoboForm Toolbar Information''' <br />
'''RoboForm Installer Installs Adapter Automatically into Firefox''' <br />
Or, you can install it from this link: <br />
    http://www.roboform.com/dist/roboform-firefox-3-4-frozen.xpi
As far as the '''virus protection indicator''', without the exact name of that security tool all I can do is to recommend that you contact the developer of that toolbar extension to see of they have an updated version available for Firefox 4.0.

  • Does apple make a printer for iPad if not how dow I get it to work with a HP Officejet 6500A Plus printer?

Does Apple make a printer for the iPad and if not how do I get it to work with a HP Officejet 6500A Plus printer? Thanks

Apple don't make any printers, but there are a number of the printers that are AirPrint-enabled, which you should be able to print to just by the printer and the iPad being on the same wifi network - the models that support AirPrint are listed on this page (the page also includes a bit of troubleshooting at the bottom of it) and it includes :
    HP Officejet 6500A e-All-In-One E710a
    HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-In-One E710n
If your's isn't one of those then you could see if HPs own ePrint app works with it, or there are third-party printer apps such as PrintCentral Pro and Print n Share which might work it
