So did I just lose ALL my photos?

I moved everything from Iphoto to an External.. then deleted the Iphoto trash... I go into the external and there are NO PICTURES IN ANY OF THE FOLDERS I TRANSFERRED INTO!!!! did i just lose ALL my family photos!!!!!!!

Exactly what did you do? Exactly what indicates to you that you have no photos?
Here are my standard instructions for doing this - note the bold emphisis
Do you have a backup? If you do not you will lose your photos someday even if you have not this time.
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • Did I just lose all my music for good?

Is there any way to get back the libray source file if I accidentally sent it to the "recycle bin" ( actually it's an incinerating demon). All titles are stil listed the songs just cannot be located. Will a newer version of itunes allow me to re-download already previously purchased music? Please someone tell me some good news
    thanks

I was trying to clean up my library because I just got a new music hard drive and loaded the songs incorrectly the first time and tried again, successfully. So I had duplicate copies of my new music. I tried to remove them, grabbed the wrong file, put it in the recycle bin. Unaware of the size limit of my recycle bin, I thought foolishly that I could put it there and go get it back if it was the wrong file. It disappeared immediately.
I have been able to find my mp3 files and listen to them one by one, though I'm still not sure if it's everything since that file I threw out just vanished for good.
    THanks for the help

  • Why did I just lose all my notes?

Where are all notes? I just lost 3 years of notes and have looked everywhere

Well, actually, Windows XP System Restore doesn't actually wipe everything out. It will wipe out limited software, but no files. So in that case, all your iTunes music should still be on your PC, but not necessarily in your iTunes library. Anyway, being that you updated your iPod after you wiped your library, and you chose to re-synchronize it, then your iPod's music should also be wiped. As of now, there is no way to recover the music from your iPod. Just see if you can find all your music on your computer, unless you actually re-partitioned your drive holding the music, then it should be gone, in which case your out of luck. Next time, do not synchronize your iPod after wiping your library, but use PodUtil (google it) to get the music off of your iPod, then add it to your iTunes library. Good luck.

  • Did I just delete all my photos??

Before I have a nervous breakdown, I was trying to move a photo to another location and I clicked on something and it asked if I wanted to create a new catalog.  I said yes.  Now none of my photos are appearing in my lightroom.  Please please help me.  Thanks michelle

No you didn't delete your photos.
You created a new catalog - accidentally. And this new catalog shows nothing because no photos have been imported.
Go back to your first catalog: >File >Open Catalog and click on your old catalog. Lr will tell you that it has to close but don't worry - it'll come up again with the old catalog.
Also, photos are not "in" Lr. Lr works with a database, called the "catalog" and builds and saves data for each imported photo in this database. Your photos remain on the hard drive. But their location and file name is recorded in the catalog. That happens by importing. If a photo has not been imported it doesn't exist for Lr, even if this photo is on your hard drive.
In order to tell if a photo is on your hard drive or not you have to use your OS (Mac Finder / Win Explorer).

    Hello Partii,
It sounds like you may use a POP account for your email.  With a POP account, email applications like Mail and Outlook can remove emails from the server, so when another device tries to check the server for new emails, it doesn't see any.
You may need to adjust settings in Outlook so that the emails are not removed from the server when downloaded.  I found an article with more information:
When using a POP email account with multiple devices, email messages may only appear on the first device that receives them. This occurs when an email client is configured to automatically remove email from the server once an email client has received it. You can configure your email client (or clients) either to keep a copy of the email on the server, remove it after a certain number of days have passed, or keep it until you move it from your Inbox.
I recommend reviewing the full article for steps on adjusting these settings; you can find the full article here:
Using a POP account with multiple devices

  • I just upgraded my OS X 10.6.4 to Mavericks and now my iPhoto '09 needs an upgrade.  Will I lose all my photos if I do the upgrade?

I upgraded my two Macbook Pro's yesterday to Mavericks, from OS X 10.6.4.  I can't seem to open iPhoto on ONE of them.   I believe it's the same on both computers, iPhoto '09.  So I went in the App store and clicked upgrade my iPhoto. Now it says the library needs to be upgraded to work with this newer version of iPhoto.  Help!  Am I going to lose all my photos?

I believe it's the same on both computers, iPhoto '09.
Check the iPhoto versions. The version number should be shown below in the "General" section of the Info panel, when you select iPhoto in the Finder and use "File > Get Info".  With Mavericks you should be using iPhoto 9.5.1.  You can buy the upgrade from the App Store.
Will I lose all my photos if I do the upgrade?
No, but never do an upgrade without making a backup of your computer, just in case something is wrong.
Your photos are in your iPhoto library. After installing the upgraded version,  the iPhoto Library will be upgraded to a new format, when you open it the first time in iPhoto.
If you want to use your iPhoto Library on both your computers, the iPhoto version should be the same.

  • I recently backed up my iPhone using iCloud and now can not get my camera roll onto my new iPhone or my Mac.  Did I lose all the photos from my old phone?

I recently picked up a new iPhone6.  Before i handed in my old phone(iphone5), I backed it up using iCloud.
Now I can't seem to get the photos from my old camera roll onto my new phone or my Mac.  Did I lose all
the photos from my old phone?

    1. Create a backup of your iPad to iTunes on your computer or to iCloud
    2. Transfer any and all photos & videos on your iPad to your computer.
    3. Erase the iPad and restore the iPhone's iCloud backup to the device.
    4. Transfer any and all photos & videos on your iPad to your computer.
    5. Restore the iPad backup you reated in step #1 back to the iPad.

  • I got a message that it needs to upgrade my library, once upgraded, i will not be able to use this library. Will I lose all my photos?

I got a message that Aperture needs to upgrade my library, once upgraded, I will not be able to use this library. Will I lose all my photos? Please help!

I got a message that Aperture needs to upgrade my library, once upgraded, I will not be able to use this library.
Photogirl, that surely is only half of the alert message. You will not lose your photos; this message is alerting  you to the fact, that there will be no way back. Once the library has been upgraded, you will no longer be able to open it in the previous Aperture version. So, if you have other macs with older Aperture versions, these will no longer be able to read your converted Aperture library.
When you see an alert like this, it is always wise to check, if your backup is current, before you proceed. Make sure, you have a working backup of your Aperture library, and also, of your current version of Aperture, just in case.
    Regards
    Léonie

  • HT1937 if you delete icloud off of your iphone, will the ipad that shares the account lose all imessages, photos etc?

If you delete icloud off of your iphone, will the ipad that shares the same account lose all imessages, photos, etc?

    No.
Just delete the iCloud entry --  do not do the deletion from the content-bearing apps (Photos, Messages, etc.).
Delete from Settings > iCloud only.

  • HT1212 Hi, one of my daughters friends tried to access her ipod causing it to become disabled; i do not want her to lose all her photos, she accesses my itunes account which is on ICLOUD, will she lose all her data - can this be fixed?

Hi, one of my daughters friends tried to access her ipod causing it to become disabled; i do not want her to lose all her photos, she accesses my itunes account which is on ICLOUD, will she lose all her data - can this be fixed? I do not think it has been synced with a computer before.

    Disabled
If you previously synced to the computer then you may be able to recover use of the iPod without erasing the iPod by following the instructions here:
    Disabled Recovery-must use syncing computer.
Otherwise y will have to restore and thus erase the iPod
    You can restore from backup
    If not in backup then:
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

    - Maybe from the restored iPod via How to perform iPad recovery for photos, videos

    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
If you previously synced to the computer then you may be able to recover use of the iPod without erasing the iPod by following the instructions here:
    Disabled Recovery-must use syncing computer.

  • I have a ipod touch 4gen and whenever i sync it, i just lose all my memory... and im also trying to restore my memory but don't really know how... how do i do it?

i have a ipod touch 4gen and whenever i sync it, i just lose all my memory... and im also trying to restore my memory but don't really know how... how do i do it?

Only sync chosen songs. Even with that I had a bad song once that was corrupted and it blew the ipod touch's mind. Can't remember how I found the song, but deleted it off the computer and was able to get a fresh copy off this quite old CD. Also, settings-general-usage, you can see which files are gathering up in your memory. There are some surprisingly large programs.

  • If i pressCommand Option when you launch iPhoto will i lose all my photos?

My photos are not backed up I have a mega amount and cannot lose them if I press command option when I launch Iphoto will i lose all my photos?

    No
But if you do not have a backup yor are 100% guaranteed to lose all of your files sooner or later. Things do happen and this may be the time. Your top priority should be to purchase an external hard drive at least 2 1/2 time as large as your main hard drive and start backing up with Time Machine or other back up ASAP
Rebuilding will not lose photos. It might reveal that you have already lost photos
The back up is the only real answer

  • I have never connected by iphone5 to my computer because the computer was broken. Now its fixed. Will I lose all the photos and texts on my iphone5 if I restore from last backup of my old 4s?

I have never connected my iphone5 to my computer because the computer was broken. Now that it is fixed, I want to know if I will lose all my photos and texts on the 5 if I restore from last backup of my 4s?

If you restore to an older backup, you will get the content that is in the backup. Everything on the iPhone will be erased and you will be brought back to the time that backup was made. Why would you think that? You will only lose the photos you have sent to iPhotos trash yourself. And you have all your data backed up anyway, don't you?
    Cheers
