i always have been a huge sony fan for over 15 years...
few months ago i bought the flagship, XperiaZ1....
now i hate sony!!
i need to fix my XperiaZ1, to do that, i installed companion, but my computer needs 5GB free space to repair my Smartphone, too bad the stupid program wont let me install it on D: where i have 500GB free space!!!
why do i need to repair my phone? because the touchscreen isn´t working anymore!! if i hold a spot, it randomly taps in any words!!
put it in Standby and press hardly on the touchpad is helping until i put it back into standby....
so i wrote Xperia care...nice chat tool....they told me to use repair function of companion, too bad not working now!!

also i received a lot of stuff with xperia "privilege" ohhh nice, too bad i can´t download that stuff, and yes, i have all apps and accounts, but the "free stuff" is gone...

Marcus - A backup is not a system necessity so you would be given the option however when it comes to re -installing or running a repair then due to registry keys and pre coded values which are designed to point the program in a direction that is required for files to be saved - Decrypted then transferred for installation to your phone, Then it is necessary for C: drive to be used as that is your main drive where Windows is installed to also where folder and files like for example Program Data which is a hidden folder under normal usage or System32 or why not type in your Run or Search bar regedit to see the registry keys.

She said that tonight (which mean 14/7/2014) all the phones on their office will be brought to center office, and they will confirm how much should i pay immediately.
    17/7/2014 i call sony xperia call center at +62 21 29357669 because whenever i call the service center that i trust my phone to be repair, they never answer. I was told by the call center that the haven't receive any information about my phone, and will contact me immediately after they receive it.
    21/7/2014 i emailed sony contact center because i haven't got the confirmation as they promise
    23/7/2014 they replied my email, they were sorry for my inconvinience and said that they have receive my phone data. and i call the service center because they did not contact me, but still no answer
    2/8/2014 i call sony contact center (since i can't reach the service center) and they said that in 3 work days i will receive the confirmation.
    7/8/2014 they did not fulfill their promise, i did not get any confirmation from sony service center, so i call the contact center again (i still can't contact the srvice center, they wont anser the phone) and the promise me that today no matter what, i'll be receiving the confirmation. i wait untill 9pm, but no call from sony.
    8/8/2014 i call the contact center again, and tell them that they dont give mey any confirmation and i also told them that i cant reach the service center, and guess what, the customer service told me to come by my self to service center that i put my phone and ask them about my phone.!!
    should i publish it to the media???

    I updated my SE PC Suit to SE PC Companion when prompted this afternoon. When trying to back-up my W995 I got the error (uploaded screenshot in the thumbnail box, hopefully it helps):

    I'm sorry to hear. I suggest that you first uninstall PC Companion then install the following Windows components.

    A lot of problem appear after i upgrade my xperia neo v. Game lag which i could play smooth with 2.3.4. led notification malfunction. wifi reception weak like hell. battery 20% to 0%. i am not sure izit an upgrade or downgrade. dissapointed to sony! I have been long time loyalty to Sony brand. I believe in you all. But now? Dont think so! Solve the PROBLEM! And stop tell me go to the router change the security or whatever. do i really need to ask the boss in starbuck or the head in college to change their wifi security setting just for MY NEO V CANT CONNECT THE WIFI?   • PC Companion 2.01, How to sync outlook contacts instead of windows address book

    After the first installation of PC Companion the program uses the outlook contacts database to sync my phone. There was no problem.
    After some weeks the program uses the windows phone book (wab-file) of outlook express instead of the original outlook 2000 contacts database.
    The picture (image1) shows the sync target on my system: In this case the program uses the windows address book instead of the outlook.
    I am sure, some weeks ago, I have seen the outlook icon on this place. In the meantime I have installed the media go extensions.
    In the settings I can only select windows address book.
    In advanced settings of pc companion only outlook express (windows address book) is available.
    How can I configure or hack the program to use outlook 2000 contacts database again?
    Is there any registry key or settings file?
    Uninstall an new install does not help.

  • Problems downloading PC Companion update

    Hi,
    I recently bought an x10 mini pro and have some difficulties with the PC software. The SW installed without problems from the mobile, but all connections to internet fail. It wants to update itself, but is never succesful. I have an 8Mbit broadband connection, wireless router and three different computers running Windows XP SP3. I have Google Chrome as standard browser on all PCs.
    I have installed PC Companion on all three computers at home. On all three computers the installation failed in the step 'Installing MTP Support', sometimes right away, sometimes after a long timeout (I've tried many times by now). When pressing 'skip' the SW installed succesfully, and I can succesfully connect to the mobile. But I cannot do anything with the software, since everything requires contact to the internet, and this fails.
    I suspected some obscure setting in my internet connection that PC Companion maybe doesn't like, so I've also tried to install the software on two computers at work. The result was exactly the same. Both computers running Windows XP.
    Now when I boot my computers PC Companion pops up and says it requires an update. The update starts up ok, but quickly slows down to almost no throughput. Today I tried to let it run to see if it picked up speed later. At 9.51, after more than an hour, it had downloaded 393 kB of 17.4 MB. An hour later, 465 kB. At 12.00, 632 kB. At 12.21 it reported an error. I retried a few times, always the same pattern: The first 350 kB arrived in less than a second, then the speed slows down to approximately nothing.
    As PC Companion doesn't offer any configuration possbilities I have no idea what to try to fix the problem. I've tried googling it, but found nothing. But I find it odd that the same problem then appears on 5 different computers!

    I did try this before, this shows the exact same problem (which is why I suspected my internet settings). I tried to start it manually again now, From Google Chrome download page:

    A quick internet speed test shows 7,47 Mbit/s - and I don't have problems downloading other stuff.

    Just to show that this is not a general problem with my internet connection I started the download again today, and then afterwards download of another file (ad-aware):

    Viber is not working after updating my Xperia SP to new Android 4.3There are totally confusing simptoms: I can not hear the other party,  the other party can not hear me , I can not answer the call even when I try to  or the other party can not answer my viber call even if they try to. CAN SOMEONE HELP or HAVE ANY IDEA :-)

    I also had problems with xperia sp after updating to 4.3 - phone was slow to an extent of being unusable. However, even before update (on firmware 4.1) I found the phone quite slow.I am very happy that I returned the phone to my carrier in exchange to nexus 5. When I got hold of it I really felt the change in responsivenes compared to sony. I cannot recommend it more - it has all the sony has + better responsivness, better screen, better battery life (yes, I have tested this), better camera minus bloatware. I got all of this for paying 50 eur more. That was my second and last phone from sony. After having sony xperia S for 1 week and returning it because of wifi problems and after trying xperia sp and again returning it because of crappily written firmware I really wonder what are people at sony thinking about.  People, don't you see that sony does not give a **bleep** about customer satisfaction after getting their money?  Of course, you can downgrade manually, but don't forget that this voids your warranty - staff at service centre would be more than glad to tell you you have just voided your warranty because you brought them phone that you had to downgrade because of crapilly written UPgrade!.  In addition to that downgrade means spending your a couple of hours of your precious time correcting mistakes of multinational corporation that simply does not give a **bleep**. Throw your sony into trash instead, and use those hours to earn money with which you can buy new phone that will actually work. 

  • Apple Apps like Weather, the App Store and even the Facebook App don't work on WIFI

    Since a few days all my apple apps (Itunes, AppStore, Weather) don't work via Wifi. The strange thing is that all other apps work without problems (just Facebook and Youtube don't view profile pictures). Via 3G all apps work without any problems. I just set my router to default settings but the problem keeps existing. Would be great if someone could help me!   

    I read about the following:
    Workarounds:
    Make sure that Bluetooth is turned off.
    Turn the Stamina Mode off. It should be off by default, but you can check inSettings > Power management > STAMINA mode.
    Possible solutions:
    Restart the router and the phone.
    Double check that you have the right details and password.
    Ensure that you have the latest firmware. For your Xperia Z this should come as an OTA update, but for your router you’ll need to check the manufacturer’s website or with your ISP.
    Try changing the channel on your router and make sure that DHCP is on.
    Turn MAC filter off on your router and/or add your phone’s MAC address.
    Try Sony’s PC Companion. Install on your PC and go to Support Zone > Start > Phone Software Update > Start. If you already have the latest version chooseRepair phone and follow the instructions.

  • Issue with the music output

    There's a major issue with my z1's music output,infact with all audio outputs,the sound quality including the volume is too less to be heard, this us seriously dissapointing as SONY is known for good music output as the trademark representing WALKMAN being an name for best awards. I wana know that is that an issue with my phone or is it the same basic settings with every phone. i want a good high,loud music experience and buying behind xperia z1 was one of many reasons. So please solve this problem as im too much dissappointed

  • Geotagging not working on Xperia Z2?

    Does anyone else have problems with geotagging on their Z2?
    I have location enabled in settings and I can even see that Camera app has been making a request with "high battery use" which should mean that it includes cell, wifi and gps for the location, but when I look at my photo there is no information on where it was taken.

    weird... are the pictures you took are from your xperia z2? if it was loaded and copied from elsewhere it wouldnt show where it was taken. Pictures with location data will be shown if it was taken by that device.
    if not try the following
    method 1:
    -settings > apps > all (scroll to the right) > camera > force stop > clear data and cache
    -launch camera and set the correct settings again and then try again.
    method 2: 
    -repair it with sony pc companion or sony update service
    Is your Xperia having software issues? Repair it with Sony's PC Companion or Sony's Update Service first before posting. Remember to back up your data before proceeding.

  • Software Update in ICS 4.0 for neo

    Hi,
    I updated my neo to ICS 4.0 , Build Number is 4.1.A.0.562 . But looking at the Sony's Android 4.0 page. It shows the latest available software is 4.1.B.0.587.
    When I connect the phone to Sony's PC Companion, it says that my software is up to date. Why is this happening? How can I update my software? Will I have to do it manually from the Sony's site?

    This simply means that the network that your handset was made for has not yet passed approval on the update. Unfortunately this means you will have to wait until they have done so.

    this is how to add more Internal Memory it's a long process but its worth it
    1) backup everything (Check above)
    2) backup your SD card
    on your PC
    1) open any folder -> click on tools -> properties -> view -> show hidden files
    2) mount the SD card, go to your SD card, press Ctrl + A then Ctrl C, on your desktop create a new folder, open it, then press CTRL + V
    now this is where it gets AWEOME-ER
    Guide to using Link2SD on your Xperia smartphone
    This guide may seem lengthy, but trust us when we say it is straightforward. All steps have been documented which makes it look daunting. Read each section carefully and follow the steps outlined to install Link2SD.
    1. PREPARATION
    Please make sure you have completed all of the following before starting the tutorial.
    On your PC:
    – Install the necessary drivers for your Xperia smartphone onto your PC/laptop. The easiest way to do this is to ensure that Sony Ericsson PC Companion is installed on your PC. Once installed, connect your phone to complete the process.
    – Download and install MiniTool Partition Wizard onto your PC or laptop.
    On your Xperia:
    – Enable USB de-bugging mode: Setting –> Applications –> Development –> Tick ‘USB debugging’
    – Enable the ability to install unknown apps: Setting –> Applications –> Tick ‘Unknown sources’
    – Install Link2SD from Android Market onto your Xperia smartphone. It is a free download.
    2. ROOT
    3. BACKUP MEMORY CARD
    As we will be creating a partition on your microSD memory card, make sure you create a backup just in case anything goes wrong.
    a) Create a new folder on your PC and name it anything you want, such as ‘SD_Backup’
    b) Connect your phone to the PC, navigate to your memory card and copy the contents to the backup folder.
    4. CREATE SECONDARY PARTITION
    You now need to create a secondary partition on your microSD memory card that will enable you to use Link2SD.
    Note: We will use MiniTool Partition Wizard to create a secondary partition on your microSD card. This partition can be ext2, ext3, ext4 or FAT32. We will use FAT32 as it is supported on all phones and should lead to less troubleshooting later. You can use any partition manager of your choosing, but the steps below guide you through MiniTool Partition Wizard.
    There is no need to wipe your memory card when going through this process, just ensure you have at least 0.5GB to 1.0GB of free space to make it worthwhile. You also do not need to use a microSD card adaptor as the process below creates the partition whilst the phone is connected to your PC.
    a) Connect your handset to the PC via USB and then launch MiniTool. You should see the details pop up under ‘Disk 2′.
    b) Click on the memory card under Disk 2 in MiniTool and then in the left pane, press ‘Move/Resize Partition’. On the blue bar under ‘Size and Location’, move the right arrow towards the left to create the size of the secondary partition desired. In the example below we created a secondary partition with 1018.63MB of space. This value can also be typed in manually in ‘Unallocate Space After’.
    c) Once this is done you should see that your memory card is now split into two partitions under Disk 2 of MiniTool. Right click this new partition and then press ‘Create’.
    If you see this pop-up below, just press ‘Yes’ to continue.
    d) You should then see this ‘Create New Partition’ window. Under ‘Create As’ click Primary and then under ‘File System’ click FAT32. Leave the cluster size as default and you can assign whichever drive letter you want. Once finished press OK.
    e) This should bring you back to the main MiniTool screen. Now hit the ‘Apply’ button on the top-left of the screen, denoted by a tick symbol.
    This will bring up another pop-up window and will take several minutes to both resize and create the secondary partition.
    If successful, you should see message below. Congratulations your card is ready to use in conjunction with Link2SD.
    5. LINK2SD
    This application makes it easy for users with root privileges on their phone to move applications to the SD card.
    a) Open the Link2SD app on your phone. You should be greeted with the following menu, check the FAT32 option and click OK.
    You will then see the Superuser Request, click ‘Allow’.
    Once you see the following message, restart your phone. The app should now be ready to use.
    b) To make sure everything is installed correctly. Click the Menu button and go to ‘Storage Info’. This will show you the internal memory and your two partitions on the memory card. In our case, you can see that the second partition has 1GB free.
    c) Now you need to move the apps of your choice to the memory card. Click the Menu button and press ‘Multi-select’.
    Choose which apps you want to move by clicking the tick box next to the app. System apps are greyed out and cannot be selected. Link2SD can only move apps that are already on the internal memory. If you have apps already on your SD card, you will need to move them back to the internal memory before you can link them with Link2SD.
    If you want to move all of your apps, pressing the menu button will bring up another menu allowing you to do this.
    d) Once you have chosen which apps you want to move, you then need to hit the menu button and press ‘Actions’, which will bring up the following menu. Press ‘Create Link’.
    Leave all three check boxes ticked and press OK. Link2SD will now do its work and move/link the selected apps to your memory card.
    Once finished, you should see that the apps you have moved have ‘Linked -> SD Card’ in red font in the Link2SD app list. Reboot your phone.
    e) Congratulations your phone is now using Link2SD! You should now go to Settings by pressing the menu button and configure how you would like Link2SD to work. The main decision here is whether you want to Auto Link newly installed apps to the memory card. Given that you’ve gone through the hassle of installing Link2SD we suggest you enable Auto Link and make worrying about your internal memory a thing of the past.

    Hello, 
    I am having a major problem with my sony xperia go. When I try to answer the call, the phone suddenly freezes. Therefore, I cannot answer the calls and I missed several important calls. In addition, the phone frequently restarts automatically. This is giving me a headache. I had tried to restore the phone and even re-installed the software. But still no sign of better performance. To be honest,  I used to like sony products but now I am very dissapointed with sony products. 
    Please provide me some solution for that.

  • Broken phone - contacts retrieval

    Please help! I have a C902, which is completely broken. My screen's cracked and totally illegible, the buttons don't work so I can't switch it on, and I need to retrieve all of my contacts. I have tried connecting the phone to my PC with USB cable, and downloaded Sony Ericsson PC Companion, but I need to be able to switch the phone and select 'phone mode' in order to open the information, which I can't do!!
