So how does one perform a clean install on U310?

Hello,
I'm currently annoyed with software that comes pre-installed on the notebook, and would like to perform a clean install of Windows 7. I've got a bootable USB stick prepared, but don't know what to do next. Also, I'd like to install the system on the SSD drive, not on HDD, and don't want to lose warranty.
Could someone who already did this make a step-by-step guide, or at least provide some hints? Thanks!

• How does one perform a clean reinstall of iOS 6.1.3 on iPhone 4s?

I'm running iOS 6.1.3 on my iPhone 4s. Siri works consistently, except for the Maps app: there are no voice commands. I've brought this to several Genius Bars and they're stumped too. Settings are all correct but no Siri for voice instructions in Maps.
One specialist thought the problem was with hardware, namely the speakers, and pointed out that water had somehow gotten into the phone via the main jack (a white dot turns red when exposed to water, so they tell me.) OK, but why would the hardware be so selective and consistent: to fail for only Siri and only when she's working through Maps? Otherwise the sound is fine.
I'm wondering if there might be some file corruption in the OS. Normally to rule that out, I would backup all my data, perform a clkem reinstallation of iOS 6 and any updates, then, migrate back my data. Problem: Apple no longer offers iOS 6 and I'm not interested in iOS 7 at this time, as I've learned that several of my most critical apps are having issues with it.
I strongly urge Apple to please reconsider its decision on the availability of iOS 6. Here, in my case,
I'm not trying to reverse an upgrade,
Until the issues between the apps and iOS 7 are ironed-out, I still need iOS 6 to run some very important apps
I am now using Maps a lot and I need to be able to hear voice commands.
So here are my questions:
1Can I install iOS 6.0 from an iOS 6.0 install file using iTunes?
I I install iOS 6.0, will Apple offer me the OTA update to 6.1.3? (I understand that there were some security issues with 6.0). If not, how can I obtain the update?
3. Where can I find step-by-step instructions for all this?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

1. No.
2. You can't do that.
3. No where legitimate. Any instructions you could find to do this would involve an unauthorized modification to the phone, which forfeits all rights to support.

• How does one perform mailbox to mailbox moving of email messages w/ Messaging 3.X?

How does one perform mailbox to mailbox moving of email messages with Messaging 3.X?

In an ISP environment there are times that a user changes his
login name (his unique identifier in the ISP's network, also used as
his email address) from one value to another. It is very convenient
for the ISP to be able to move messages from the user's old mailbox
to the user's new mailbox when this situation occurs.

With Messaging Server 2.0, this was easily accomplished by simply
moving the mail messages on disk. However, with the added complexity
of Messaging 3.0 where there are back links, reference counts, etc.,
associated with mail messages, moving files on disk from one mailbox
to another is no longer valid.

The MoveUser utility, which is new in MS 3.X, moves messages from
one messaging server to another or from one maildrop path to another.
Can this utility be used to move messages from one mailbox to another?

The answer is yes, it can. The user should be aware that if
duplicate email message id's exist in the mailbox before the
move, the messages related to the duplicate message id's will
be duplicated in the target mailbox.

See the online documentation contained with the product or the
Messaging 3.X Administrator's Guide for exact syntax.

Hi
If I understand you correctly and if you are using Apple Mail version 2.0 or above navigate to /Users/Home folder. The Home folder is the one with the house icon, within that folder you will see a Library folder, within that folder you’ll see a Mail folder, within that folder you’ll see a folder that begins with POP followed by your name, within that folder will be a folder called INBOX.mbox, within that folder is a Messages folder. All the mail that you see within the application are there. They will be numbered and have a file suffix of .emlx. You can move these wherever you like.
If you are using Entourage X, or Entourage 2004 you can easily multiple select mail messages, addresses etc from within the application and drag whatever you’ve selected to wherever you like.

• How do I perform a clean install of ios8 on my iPhone 5

I would like to perform a clean install, meaning not putting ios8 on top of ios7.
Is there an advantage to doing this? When I installed Mavericks on my MBP I had the Genius Bar do it and it was like a new Mac,
So, my thoughts are that a clean install, starting as if it were a new phone would be the same.
Is this true?
How would I do that after backing up through the latest iTunes.
Would I need to set up pop mail accounts from scratch or would that come back in the restore backups
As you can see, I am unsure as to the best way to make my iPhone 5 run trouble free with ios8
Advice and instructions are welcome

Okay....so Apple does have a guide related to Mass deployment which includes a rough way to do a clean OS X Server clean install. You need to use a NetBoot Lion Server as a boot, but it works.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4746
Use these steps to create a NetRestore image of an un-configured Lion Server:
Install OS X Lion, and then Lion Server. This server will be used to create the NetRestore image.
On the server, install the app named "Install Mac OS X Lion" from the Mac App Store (a network connection is required for this process).
Install the Server Admin Tools from http://support.apple.com/downloads/ on the server.
Open the "Install Mac OS X Lion" application, and install to an empty volume. This volume can be a spare partition or external hard drive. Be sure to click the Customize button and to select the Lion Server software.
Once installation is complete, the server will restart from the newly installed volume. Instead of completing the setup assistant, press Command-Q to quit the assistant.
Select the option to shut the server down.
Restart the server and hold the Option key.
When the Startup Manager appears, select the volume which you've already configured Lion Server on.
Open System Image Utility and create a NetRestore image from the newly installed (and still un-configured) volume. If you'd prefer to image the volume after it has already been configured, you can proceed with the setup assistant before booting back to the original installation created in step 1.

• HT1338 how do you perform a clean install for imac

How to perform a clean install for imac, because I cannot upgrade to version 10.6?

Here are the technical requirements for Snow Leopard:
http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575
If your iMac meets the requirements, then you will have to purchase the Snow Leopard disk from apple:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
To reinstall your OS, insert the original OS disk that came with your iMac and start up the iMac holding the C key. Start the installation process and when you see the menu bar, select 'Utilities'. From the drop down menu, select Disk Utility. Erase the HDD and the continue the installation.
Note that this will erase all data on the HDD so have it backed up before you start.
Ciao.

• How does one perform Cursor joins in DPL?

How does one navigate the API to do cursor joins? Can one do it and still exploit DPL concepts, or must one keep open a separate low-level BDB Database?

Hi Jdf,
Since you said "cursor joins" I assume you are familiar with the base BDB API that provides joins via cursors. In DPL the same functionality is provided by using the EntityJoin class. Instead of cursors, you specify the secondary key values, but the result is the same. An underlying cursor join is performed for you.

• Selling G4 iMac - How do I perform a clean install

I'm selling my G4 iMac to work and they have given my a Tiger disk to install. I would like it to erase all my old files such as my financial items and my photos as well as my music, etc.
Is there a way of doing a clean install which takes the computer back to square one with just the basic info on it?
Thanks!

Boot from the restore disc. Go to the Apple menu and select Disk Utility. In Disk Utility, reformat the hard drive and choose the option to write all zeroes. After that is complete, use the restore disc to restore the iMac to its factory condition.

• How does one get a clean installation of Cloud apps

I would like to keep Cloud apps entirely separate from my existing Adobe uncloud CS6 and 5 Design and Premium Suites. Found that the Adobe File Manager from the Cloud updates my existing CS6 Suite of products. Just in case I choose not to renew cloud membership or cancel before the end of the year, I really don't want Cloud updates modifying my existing CS6 Suite. Any ideas on getting a clean install.
Also found that it is easier to make a decision soon to cancel my $19+ Student/Teacher membership and perhaps start with a single app--Photoshop at the $9 amount. One can upgrade from that level but I gather one cannot downgrade
Thanks for any help with this. Sharon

I recently downloaded Lr 5 from the Cloud and it did not affect or over-write my already-installed and registered Lr 4.4 Retail.
Both versions are now installed on my HD and do not conflict with each other -- although I am about to remove Lr 4 anyway.
In the same way, if I choose to download ONLY the new CC versions after the 17th, I don't imagine that they will over-write or have any effect on my existing installed and registered CS 6 Retail products?
Or am I wrong to assume that?

• How Does One Perform Initial Installation of T5 S/W on an Intel-based Apple MacBook Pro?

Hello People,
My old Palm Tungsten T5 died suddenly. I managed to secure an open box T5 from Amazon, and I tried to install on my new Apple MacBook Pro. The Palm software did not complete the install apparently due to the lack of a PowerPC processor. Now my new T5 cannot even read my 2GB SD card.
Is there a work-around for installations using Intel processors on Apple computers?
I am running OS X Lion---not Snow Leopard. I just bought this MacBook Pro less than two months ago, and it's the most modern version.
I saw something of the issues others were having with Snow Leopard, and I wondered whether the same issues carried over to Lion.
If necessary, I can dig my old Windows Vista PC out of storage, but I really like using the Apple laptop and would prefer to use that since I normally use the laptop and PDA on the go.
Most respectfully yours,
John
Post relates to: Tungsten T5

Here is the info. on MAC OS X. You will need to look for 3rd party options.
Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager are not compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Palm currently has no plans to release future versions of Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager for Palm OS. Customers do have options with third-party solutions such as The Missing Sync for Palm OS from Mark/Space.
Here is the link to Mark/Space for your T5.

• How does one get Firefox to install 1 Password extension?

When I download the installer, a pop-up says it cannot install because "Firefox cannot modify the needed file". What is the needed file and how can I change the file so that it will install on Firefox?

This will happen if you install an Add-on that needs to be unpacked in order to function properly.
Normally Firefox installs the XPI file and modifies its name, but if an extension needs to modify a file in its file structure or otherwise only works when unpacked (e.g. a dictionary) then you can get this error if the add-on doesn't get unpacked.
Extensions that need to be unpacked should have an unpack instruction in its install.rdf file: <em:unpack>true</em:unpack>
You can temporarily toggle the extensions.alwaysUnpack pref to true on the about:config page to see if that helps to install the extension.

• Is there a way to perform a clean install without the Internet on the computer that my iPhone is backed up on?

I don't have Internet on my PC that my iPhone is backed up to. Without connecting it to the Internet, how can I perform a clean install? Since iOS 7 my battery life has been crap, I've tried everything except a clean install, so this is my last resort but I wanna make sure I can do it before I wipe my phone.

Installing iOS requires an Internet connection, there is no way around this.

• How to Perform a Clean Install of Panther 10.3

I am currently running Jaguar 10.2.8 (no OS9) on an iMac G3/400, 320 megs ram, dsl internet. I want to perform a clean install of Panther 10.3 (not the upgrade or archive + install). After placing the first Panther disc in the slot, I get a screen on which I click the install icon, I then click the restart, the machine reboots, gives me an installation screen asking me to choose the language, I choose English, then click "continue", I then get a screen telling me I cannot install OSX because the "firmware" is not up to date. I then have to click on the "close" button, then use a pin to get the cd out of the machine. I thought the only firmware update necessary was when you want to install Jaguar over OS9. How can I fix this situation so I can install Panther? I am not much of a techie, fairly new to Mac so please make your reply easy to follow. Thanks.

The firmware update for your model is required for running OS X regardless of which version you install. You will need to install OS 9.1 or later in order to install the firmware update if the computer has not been updated.
OS 9 should have been included with the computer as part of the original software that came with it. You can install OS 9 on the same volume on which OS X is currently installed or you can erase the drive before installing OS 9. After you perform the firmware update you can do an Erase and Install of Panther.
You should avoid using a pin to forcibly remove a disc from the optical drive. Just restart the computer and hold down the mouse button to have the disc ejected. See the following:
Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
4. Press COMMAND-E.
5. If none of the above work try this:
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
/usr/bin/drutil eject.
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into single-user mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

I have a new SSD drive and need to either migrate my old HD data, including the Windows 8.1 OS or do a a clean install. I have obtained the ISO, prepared the boot for the flashdrive and downloaded the install software. It asks for the product key. I used the suggested BIOS reader and obtained "a" product key off the BIOS and used that it but (as above) it does not recognize the image.
How id I get my single Windows license onto my new SSD HD? Reload, clean install, ???
How do I get the proper product key or confirm it is correct?
It is a new system with little data that I need to copy. I just want the operating system. I have the driver disc that came with it.

• How to Perform a "Clean Install" - Offline installer link not working...

The thread containing - "How to Perform a Clean Install of Flash Player in Mac OS X" - was an answer given by Mike M. several times in this forum. I attempted to access the "offline installer" link that was offered, but it does not seem to be working. Does anyone have an updated link to a functional offline installer that I can use to finally download Flash Player for Mac OS X v. 10.9.5?
I receive an error message stating "Error: Unable to proceed with the installation."
Many of the photography and game websites I use (almost all, actually) FP, and I would really love to get back to my daily routine soon!
Best Regards,
Mel R.

Hi Mel,
The correct link is posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page, in the 'Still having problems section'. The download links recently changed and it appears the FAQ was not updated. I have updated the with the help page URL as it's less likely that this link will change, and if it does, a re-direct to the new location would be implemented.
