So I accidentally deleted 5gb of songs from my computer

Question

Ok, it wasn't accidental, because I was actually running out of room on my computer, but then I got a 400gb external hard drive. Now I want those songs back and they're still on my iPod. How do I get it so that the library updates to what my iPod has instead of my iPod updating to what my library has?

Jeff, You are telling the person with the problem (Yola33) that they are SOL. Since this is not true, I've addressed my reply to you, because your advice in this case is inaccurate. Since my reply is in the thread in which Yola33 is participating, they too will be able to read it. Feel free to keep your snarky comments to yourself about how you are well aware that this is the case -- your attitude shows that you 'd rather fight than solve the problem at hand, and I'm not interested in sparring with you.

You know what, that's fine. I have no problem with that. Recommend whatever you like. I'm simply adding information for the person having trouble.

Thanks, but I don't need any. I have all my music
safely backed up. That's what we try to convey here.
I would have thought it was obvious, but that comment was for the benefit of Yola33, or anyone else who searches and finds this thread. I have no doubt that someone with 20,000+ comments on the forum also has the time and knowledge to have backups of their music.

Why do I need to do this?
Refer to prior comment, if you are still confused as to whom I was addressing the bulk of my reply. For them and others who find this thread, if your iPod is in disk-mode, then you can use un-delete programs on them.
At best, you'll get some or all of your music back. At worst, you might have to use iTunes to do a restore, though if used properly undelete programs will in no way harm your iPod.

Please... just because there are fewer trojans, viruses, and other forms of malware and software vulnerabilities in the wild that affect your Mac, doesn't mean they're not out there, but again (as if this actually needs to be said) my post is for the benefit of the original poster and any else who stumble upon it looking for help with their iPod. Since their post did not indicate what O.S. they are using, I will make the conservative assumption that they use windows, and if you go installing software off the net willy-nilly on windows, we all know you're likely to be installing spyware.
