Well, my friend gave me his iPod 4G Because the screens LCD was broken and there was a black dot in the screen and it didn't work, he didn't want it anymore because he thinks he broke it because where the LCD connects to the front of the motherboard one of the prongs is bent but I can still click the LCD in if I get a new screen will it still work?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore to an older backup, you will get the content that is in the backup. Everything on the iPhone will be erased and you will be brought back to the time that backup was made. I have Windows XP. Using firefox as my browser. Suddenly, I can't open PDF files in the browser. I've tried all the fixes mentioned. Nothing works!!! Checked the plugin settings, checked Adobe Reader settings.

highlight the ipod icon on the left side of the itunes window. when the summary page is displayed, click on the "music" tab. if the "sync music" is checked - uncheck it. this will allow you to manually control your music.
to delete music:
on the upper left corner of itunes is the "library" - click on "music" located just below it. find the song you want to delete and highlight it. now go to the "edit" menu of itunes and drop down to "delete." you will get a message asking if you want to remove the song - if yes, click "remove." read carefully since this option is permanent.
if you want itunes to sync music in the future, go back and check the "sync music."

It sounds like you destroyed your boot partition and the recovery partition. Depending on it's age, your MacBook Air might be able to do a net boot. Plug and ethernet connection into it and attempt to boot. If it has the right firmware, it will find a net boot configuration on the net and boot that. Then it will give you a Recovery Partition like display and allow you to reinstall the OS X version that came with it.... assuming that it was Lion or ML. If your computer came with Snow Leopard, then even the net boot won't work.
At that point you need a bootable USB Key, or an external DVD drive AND a Snow Leopard installation DVD.
An Apple Store, if there is one nearby, MAY be able to get you going again. However, whatever is on the SSD now will be toast too.

IF you do find a backup that has your contacts; I'd /highly/ recommand turning off your wifi network after the restore is finished because if the issue is with your iCloud your contacts may merge back with her's.
With iCloud you DO NOT want to share the account; bad things happen Evil evil thigns...
But in all seriousness; if two devices have the same iCloud; iCloud is told to merge and sync infomation between hte two and can't tell that it doesn't belong to the same person

I purchased a frist gen. iPad from a friend. I find that it's using 5.1.1. and says that it's "updated" when I check. Problem came when I tried to download my Netflix onto the ipad. I keep getting the prompt that I must upgrade to iOS 6. The netflix is 5.1 so I don't understand the problem. And they do offer a compatible version. As I am running running Netflix on my first generation iPad just fine.
You'll need to first "purchase" the non compatible version either on a newer device that can run it or on a computer running iTunes using the Apple ID that is on the first Gen iPad.
After that is done, you should be able to go into the App Store App, and find Netflix under the Purchased Tab. Tap on it to download it and you should be warned its not compatible, but will be offered the compatible version.

As I said in the other thread that you posted in the other forum, your friend clearly has not restored the iPad correctly. I suggest that you undertake another restore and start again.
