So I had to reformat my hard drive....

And I lost all my files -- obviously.
I assumed that when I downloaded and logged into itunes, that it would recognize the items i'd purchased and allow me to redownload them. But it didn't!
So, I plugged in my ipod, and it would allow me to import every file that was on it, except the ones I had purchased form itunes, because -- it claimed I didn't have rights to use them on this computer.
This is aggregious!!! Someone render help, please.

Did you reauthorise your computer? If your system crashes or your reinstall your operating system without deauthorising iTunes first your original authorisation gets locked out and you need to reauthorise: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation
I assume by the way that you used some other software or other manual method to reinstate your non purchased tracks. iTunes 7 will only transfer purchased music from an iPod back to the computer: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod

  • I had to reformat my hard drive on an older Desktop running Windowx XP. The IE browser is not working now. Is there a way I can download Firefox onto a flash drive from my new desktop and install it on my old desktop?

I had to reformat the hard drive on my old desktop. It is runninf Windows XP. I can't get Internet Explorer to work so I can connect to the internet via wireless. Is there a way I can download firefox from my new desktop onto a flas drive and then install Firefox from the flash drive onto my old desktop? If so, please explain the procedure.

Go to a suitable download page eg: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html]
Download firefox, use the save option rather than install.
Save it directly to the flash drive, or to somewhere on your computer and copy/move it the flash drive.
However if IE is not working possibly you have some sort of setup problem so firefox may not work either.

  • Had to reformat my hard drive- PLEASE HELP!

    Hi everyone,
I hope someone can somehow help me. I tried tech support but they didn't have much to offer in the way of iTunes support. I own a video ipod. I manually loaded each of the albums I had stored in my "my music" folder on my laptop into iTunes and then onto my Ipod.
All transfering and syncing has been done on my laptop. I recently had to reformat the hard drive on my laptop. Prior to doing so, I was able to move my music files to my desktop however I do not have Itunes loaded and running on my desktop. I now have "RE" downloaded the iTunes software to my laptop but I'm scared to sync it because I know it's going to "wipe" out my IPOD.
Can someone accurately advise me on how I might go about getting my music files back into my iTunes library without having to make backup cd's of some 200 albums or manually reloading each album. Is there anyway of doing this without wiping my Ipod clean? There's got to be a fairly easy way to do this.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Shooey

You should be able to move your iTunes music folder from your desktop (where iTunes is not installed) to your laptop where it is. Set up your iTunes on the laptop to specify where you want your iTunes music folder to be (in advanced preferences), quit itunes, then move your files from the desktop. Start up iTunes and it should all work.
This is how I moved my itunes when I replaced my old G4/733 with my newer G5 2.5DP.
Note: don't discard that backup on your desktop until you make sure everything works OK, including syncing your iPod.

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • Had to reformat my hard drive, now ipod doesn't recognize my computer

I was infected with numerous viruses and had to refomat the hard drive. When I connect the iPod, it doesn't recognize the computer as the same one, so I can't get the files that I already paid for off the iPod. Any ideas?

Yes, all you iTunes data are on the old drive. Get an external enclosure in which you may install the old drive in order to connect it to your computer and copy your iTunes data to your new drive.
Everything is on your old drive unless you copied it to the new drive.

  • Had to reformat the hard drive and now trying to reinstall...

I have my original CD for PSE 4.0 and installed it. That worked fine. I printed out the info from when I upgraded to PSE 5.0 because I upgraded online at Adobe.com. But when I went to my Order History, the download wasn't there. When I called support they said they could no longer support this "old" version of PSE and that I had to come here for help. Which is frustrating because it says right there on the upgrade info:
Sign in to Your Account at the Adobe Store at any time to re-download your purchased software.
Anyway, I've got the serial number for my upgrade to 5.0. Can anyone tell me how to re-download it?  Thanks!!

It's absolutely stunning what is out there on the nooks and crannies of the Internet.  So I'd recommend that you search there for the upgrade.  After all, the upgrade file is useless without the serial number you have, so Adobe wouldn't object to someone posting it on a web site.
Google is the perfect place to start your search.  Try to think of terms you'd find on the web site you want - but would not appear on the average web page.  That way Google won’t offer to show you 100,001 hits - which can be depressing.   Here I'd use "Adobe Photoshop Elements", and "upgrade", and "version 5.0".
Keep Google in mind whenever you are searching for something unusual.  People are putting more and more information onto the Internet.  That can help you.
In 2001, I typed the name “Monte Payne” into Google.  We both were point men in the same Infantry platoon in Vietnam.  He triggered a boobytrap and died while walking point.
To my surprise, Google found a plea from his family.  32 years later, they still were trying to find someone who could tell them how and where Monte died.
I wrote them a long letter explaining what happened and how he had died. I also included the address of a U.S. Geologic Service web site that shows a detailed map of the area where he died.  (The U.S. Geologic Service hosts hundreds of web pages that show small-scale maps of what was South Vietnam.)
I also gave them the grid coordinates of the location where he probably died.  I didn't know the precise location because I was in the hospital when it happened.  But because we both had been point men, I found out everything about his death once I got back.
I’ve often thought that if there ever was a contest on the most unusual uses of Google, I’d enter that incident with Monte’s family.  I’m one of fewer than 30 people on the planet who could tell his family how Monte died.  Without Google, we never could have found one another.

  • Lost iTunes in reformat of hard drive

How do I upgrade my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 without losing everything on my iPhone? I had to reformat the hard drive in my computer due to problems with my OS and lost the iTunes loaded with all that information like playlists, music, photos, apps etc.
Basically, I want to get iTunes to accept all that information so that I can restore the new iTunes to the way it was before I lost it. Then I can install iOS5.
I used the backup function by right-clicking on my iPhone icon, but am not sure if it backed up everything so I am holding off on doing anything else until I can get some guidance.
Thank you to anyone who can provide relief. Worse comes to worse, I stick with IOS 4.3.3

it only took so long because i have a crappy internet connection i think it downloads basically the files from the recovery partition from online.
i lost the recovery partition by formatting my drive when restoring a time machine backup,  and when that installation wouldn't let me past the login screen i restarted going into the internet recovery, it took around 1.5hrs to download the necessary files (~1mb connection ) and loaded straight into what looked like the recovery partition, now in order to partition my hard drive for windows(says i have a broken partition map, fixing that can only be done outside of the operating system).
hence i'm downloading lion as we speak from the appstore to keep on a usb stick
edit: also internet recovery when it's downloading shows just a spinning globe with a progress bar and a timer at the bottom, it also appears to not save the files it's downloaded, just caches them

  • After reformatting my hard drive, I lost some of my apps and have to pay to get them back. What do I do?

My OS got corrupted, so I had to reformat my hard drive and in the process lose all the data on my hard drive. This includes apps that were included in my MacBook when I first got it such as Facetime, while others are at their pre-Yosemite versions. I can't reinstall them since I have to pay for them, while the other apps like iMovie and Garage Band can't be updated and also require payment. How do I get these apps back? I use a Late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina 15" running on 10.10.1. Bought it at around February or March 2014

    Hey JeromeAM,
When you first got your MacBook Pro, you should have agreed to accept the purchase to your Apple ID. Most of your apps that came from the Mac App Store can be downloaded again. To do that, open the Mac App Store and go to the Purchases tab and make sure that you are signed in. From there, you will see a list of apps that you can download again. If you still are not seeing, check to make sure that nothing is hidden.

I put Dreamweaver CS3 back on laptop with disc and it accepts my code but then I have to phone to activate it fully.
I then get a message on  the phone telling me to go to adobe.com/go/activation, I can then do nothing there.

Please help as I need to work on my website.

I know CS2's server has been deactivated due to some unnamed "technical problem".
As for the OP, I would uninstall and run the cleaner tool then try again. The cleaner tool is available here: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
You "may" also benefit from trying the install this way, just make sure to follow ALL of the instructions...

  • I reformatted my hard drive, but forgot to deactivate CS6 first

I reformatted my hard drive, but forgot to deactivate CS6 first. I had CS6 installed on two computers. I deactivated CS6 on one computer, then installed CS6 on another computer. I then had issues with the new computer and am reformatting the disk. Problem is, I forgot to deactivate CS6d from the new computer. Will this mess me up?

    Computer reconfiguration or replacement
You can receive an activation error if your computer has changed recently. You can't solve this problem on your own, if you've done one of the following:
Changed your computer's configuration, for example, due to a crash:
    Upgraded your computer hardware
    Replaced a hard drive
    Upgraded the Operating System
Gotten a new computer and old computer is unavailable
Contact Adobe Support specialists via chat or over the phone on 1-866-772-3623.
Keep your serial number handy. Look for your serial number on the CD or DVD case, or in the email confirming your purchase. For assistance locating your serial number, see Find a serial number.

You will need to use third-party software to transfer music from your phone to the iTunes Library. I recommend Phone to Mac - Pod to Mac | Macroplant.com.
