So, I named my new ipod nano 7 and have the serial number on my itunes account. I still am not able to get any podcasts downloaded to it.

so, I named my new Nano7 and the serial number appears on my itunes account.
But
when I have it plugged in it will not download the podcasts I loaded from itunes.
The podcasts automatically load on my older ipod nano when I plug it in.
How can I get my new Nano to recieve data?
thanks

Before you sync, go to "podcast" in ipod upper menu. Make sure the "sync podcast"is ticked. If not, do accordingly and then sync again. Cheers!

I have aperture 3.2.4 on my laptop and have the serial number, but just bought a new MAC and I can't get the Ver 3.0 link to work. Anyone know how to move it from my laptop to our new mac?

I am talking about the Ver 3 download link that came with the purchase email.
That link is no longer available. Use "Migration Assistant" to copy your Applications from your old mac to the new Mac, then immediately run software update. Aperture Version 3.2 will not run on your new mac with Mavericks, you will have to Upgrade to version 3.4.5 at least - you can download this update from the Support page: Aperture 3.4.5
Then launch Aperture and enter your registration key and try now too update from version 3.4.5 to 3.5 from the AppStore. The AppStore will change your Aperture registration to an AppStore version, so you will able to reinstall by downloading from the AppSTore in future.
If you want transfer only Aperture and no other applications, do it manually: You will have to copy not only the application but folders from the libraries as well:
    /Applications/Aperture.app
    /Library/Application Support/Aperture/
    ~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/

    See the end of:
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • I had my iphone stolen and it was a brand new replacement so i dont have the serial number. Can apple provide me with the serial number? since it should be on their records

so my iphone 5 kept crashing and i brought it to the apple store and got a new replacement phone. Unfortunately for me the next day it got stolen, i have the find my iphone app but it says my device is offline so i cant track it nor can i wipe the contents. I have blocked my sim, but someone told me that i could get the product itself blocked so that the horrible theif cannot use it at all. Since it was a replacement product and i lieterally just got it i dont have the serial or imei number to get it blocked. Would apple have a record of the replacement devices number? i tried using the online chat but it wont work becausae i dont have the serial number or anything. thanks in advance for your help.

nobody can track anything using a serial number really
IMEI number carrier can track a device with but only way to do it is when the police bring a warrent
find my iphone service which have to be activated before the device was stolen is what normal people can do

  • Can I locate my iPod nano (3rd generation) with the serial number?

Recently misplaced or lost my nano and wanted to locate/track it using the serial number.

Others have asked this, and the answer I've always seen is no.

  • New iPod nano - do I have the steps correct to step up?

Checked our Wiki and did not find anything specific to connecting a brand new iPod (never been set up on any computer) to an Arch system. I cobbled together the steps below from some of our forum posts and a HOWTO on the Gentoo Wiki.
Let's see if I have the steps correct to connect in Arch (using Gnome, HAL, dbus, gnome-volume-manager...my iPod is automounted when connected):
    1 ) Create a mount point
    # mkdir /mnt/ipod
    2 ) Create a ipod group
    # groupadd ipod
3 ) Add your user ID to group (bob in my case)
    # gpasswd -a bob ipod
    4 ) Create a udev rule (/etc/udev/rules.d/60-ipod.rules):
    BUS=="usb", ATTRS{manufacturer}=="Apple*", ATTRS{model}=="iPod*", KERNEL=="sd?2", SYMLINK+="ipod", NAME="%k", GROUP:="ipod"
    5 ) Restart udev
    # /etc/start_udev
6 ) Plug in iPod to USB port
7 ) Open gtkPod, click 'Load iPod' button and allow gtkPod to load the iPod. (need to add info on assigning the correct mount point in gtkPod)
8 )  Load music and enjoy iPod!
Any errors or improvements? I don't want to brick my new toy!
    Thanks!
    Bob
EDIT: added step 4 to add user ID to group
EDIT #2: Corrected udev entry from SYSFS{manufacturer}=="Apple*" to ATTRS{manufacturer}=="Apple*"
EDIT #3: Removed step of creating an fstab entry of '/dev/ipod  /mnt/ipod  vfat  async, nodev, nosuid, user,rw,noauto 0 0'. Snarkout pointed out that by my use of HAL & dbus I could just have them recognize the device.
EDIT #4: Added info at top that my steps apply to user using Gnome, HAL, dbus, gnome-volume-manager. Also corrected command to restart udev in Step 5 as per Snarkout.

So I guess my rule is not doing very much of anything(?)
I know the symlink is working, because I mount by doing
    mount -t hfsplus /dev/ipod /media/ipod
And you are right, my iPod was first used on a Mac, so I guess that explains the hfsplus fs.

  • When  you link your device to a itunes account it should recognise it and have the serial number of the device .If it gets stolen we should be able to report it and apple and owner should be able to disable it or view the new person using it .

Find my idevice isn't a bad app, but it has a fatal weakness in that it can be defeated in a matter of minutes by a knowledgable thief.
There has been initiatives by cellular companies in other countries, that I think are making their way here, where devices that have been reported stolen to the police can be blacklisted - as in barred from being used on the telephone network. This was done to curb sometimes violent thefts of phones. It's done in other countries, and there was a talk of doing it here in response to people sometimes being beaten up or harmed or attacked to get their phones. The hope is if the phone is blacklisted, then it's 'worthless' once it's stolen and that can curb thefts.
However, while there is that precedence for phones, there's nothing for electronic devices like the iPad. When/if it ever happens, it needs to be an initiative Apple starts or participates in. Your best bet is to let Apple know your concern and see if they choose to do anything beyond the 'Find my' app.

  • My ipod was stolen, I have the serial number what do i do

So I have no idea what to do next, I Believe the Find my iphone app thing is on. I also heard rumors that if someone connects it to itunes apple will be able to find it is this true?

Report it to the police. Then you can look at this information from fellow user Kappy.

  • NEW IPOD NANO 5TH GENERATION WONT SYNC MUSIC WITH MY I TUNES ACCOUNT

So I have my New Ipod Nano 5th generation plugged into my Dell Laptop with Itunes open and running.  It recognizes my Ipod and sees that it has over 7 gbs of available space but when i hit the Sync Button it says it is Syncing but only take s about 2 seconds and then nothing is actually transferred to the ipod.

You have 14 days from the date of purchase to return with no questions asked.  Even if purchased from a 3rd party vendor.  Apple no longer sells them.

I would like to copy all the songs from one Ipod into another. All the songs are into my Itunes account, I tried to drag and drop the songs from the old Ipod to the new one but it doesn't work. Is there a way to do it ?
I share one Itunes account with other people from my family and one person would like to keep the same songs on the new Ipod as the ones which were on the old one.
Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Hello Chris,
Thanks for your answer. I was hoping for an easier answer. Too bad there is no drag and drop solution, it would have been much easier.
    Thanks for answering so fast.

    Hey there rmflint,
It sounds like you are wanting to update the Apps that were synced over from your computer to your new iPhone 5s. If you are clicking Updates in the App Store in the bottom right corner, would you mind clarifying what happens when you are trying to update them?

  • I lost my ipod touch 4th generation. I don't have Find My iPhone enabled on it, but I have the serial number. How can I find it?

I bought it this year in February. I think I know where it is, but just to be safe... I'm going nuts trying to find it...
I have the serial number, and Find My iPhone is on it, but I guess it's not enabled because it's not showing up on my iPhone. I tried doing the Find My iPhone online, but it's only locating my iPhone, which I have. It's the iPod I'm missing.
Question is, can I find my iPod with just a serial number??

Did you pass code locked it? If Find My iPhone is configured, you can do a remote wipe. Any way, go to the police and make a report, change your password in iTunes Store, really sorry, that's not much you could do. Is it authorize? If so you can deauthorize in iTunes when you select iTunes Sore under STORE (left panel) and click your Apple ID (top right)

  • My ipod was stolen and i need to know if there is a way to locate where its been registered or plugged in i have the serial number.

hello my name is marco and my ipod was stolen during school its a 4th generation 32gb. i need help in how to start a process to finding it or tracking it i also have the serial number if that helps, the phone number to apple where i can report it missing would really help! incase someone uses it and attempts to register it can i get the location to where this attempt was made i.p. adress etc. please i need help this ipod is precious to me and its something that i can't just forget about.

If you haven't turned on FindMyiPhone in settings (yes, even for the iPod), there's nothing you can do. Apple will not help you find it using the serial number.  If you did turn it on and the thief doesn't get into the iPod (you did have a passcode set, right?), then go to iCloud website using a browser, log in and try finding the iPod.  Unless the thief reset the device to factory settings, and if the wifi isn't off, it's location should show on the map.  After that it's up to you to report its location to the police.
