So I went to install the latest Mac update but now it won't turn back on

I Pressed the restart now button to install the latest update, the computer restarted then went to the apple logo with a progres bar. It went along for a few moments then just shut down. I tried to restart again but it just went back to the progress bar and shut down again. Help?

Hi .
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys.
From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to repair the disk if necessary and restore OS X using OS X Recovery.
That should also install the latest OS X v10.9.5.
