So i win a 16gb ipad...

and my problems begin.
I wiped it because the guy at 3M who loaded it up with pics of products (who gifted it to me) left his apple ID on it, plus it wouldn't sync to my version of itunes (9.2.1). so i wipe.
my version of itunes is not compatible w the ipad. itunes 10.x is not compatible with 10.4.11, and OS 10.4.11 has reached it's apogee because i have a PPC.
sell the g5?
can i switch out the PPC with an intel processor?
apologies in advance, but i really tried to work this out on my own...

How much space is used by your Other? You may be able to reduce.

Why does my brand new 16GB iPad Air have about 13GB?

I got an iPad Air with 16GB. I have 21 apps and the only music on here is a little over 800 songs thanks to iCloud. In my settings in the "About" section, it says I have 12.9 GB capacity and 9.0 available. Why is that? Also, if this helps, it also says I have 237 songs, but I know there are around 800. I guess I shuffled through the 800 songs and played 237. They're only on my iPad because of iCloud. But my question is: This product is a 16GB iPad Air. Why do I have just less than 13GB capacity?

After adjusting for the difference between Base10 and Base2 methods of measuring space you will find a roughly 7% difference between the 16,000,000,000 bytes and computer based GBs. Deduct the OS and pre-installed apps and you are under 13 GBs.

If that is what you want, then you should be fine. You are answering your own question with that statement.
Dont forget that you can store unused content in iTunes on your computer or delete content and download much of it again for free when needed. If the iPad starts to get too filled up - dump some content into iTunes or delete it.
Sync it back or download it again when you need it. Just remember that if you delete apps that have documents and files that you want to keep, backup your iPad and transfer the files to your computer as well so that you can have access to them later.
Remeber this though, you cannot add storage to the device later. What you buy is what you get.

That is up to the store where it was purchased, but here in the U.S., I can't think of any retailer that would let you exchange the device without proof of purchase - a valid receipt. Even if you want to add the additional funds toward the purchase, the store wants proof that it was purchased there.
If it was purchased at an Apple Store - you must have the receipt.

No, the internal capacity is fixed. There are some wifi-enabled external drives that allow you to stream music, films etc to an iPad, but you can't change the size of the built-in storage.

Hi! On her iPad, go to Settings > General > Usage and that will show you what apps (I'm suspecting it could be Photos and Camera.) are taking most of the space on it. The extra iCloud storage will not increase local storage on the iPad itself.

Buy a 4 gig flash drive and you'll find that the actual storage is like 3.7 gig. that's part of the issue, the way computer memory is measured and rounding (it's the same with everything)
And then like the other said, the operating system of the ipad takes up more space. I think my 32 gig Touch really has 27 gig and change in free space

If you navigate to settings > general > usage, it should show you all the apps and data on your device and how much room they are taking up.

16GB iPad Mini Retina full with 10.3GB of 'Other'?

My 16GB iPad Mini Retina has been giving me 'storage almost full' messages lately despite me deleting all my videos, nearly all my photos, many apps, etc. I actually have very little stuff stored on it compared to this annoying, mysterious 'other'. No music, no TV shows, no movies, very few documents, emails or anything. I deleted big apps like Twitter and it's made no difference. When I connect my iPad to my Mac and open iTunes, here's what it says is on the Mini:
Capacity 11.69GB
149 MB Photos
1.08 GB Apps
169 MB Documents + Data
10.30 GB of OTHER
Not sure what's going on. I can't even update to the latest iOS update or even save a single photo. Any ideas of what's wrong and what I can do?

Thanks for that link Kappy; I'd read that previously, but that's for clearing out stuff you might have accumulated along the way - which I understand and appreciate. It's having 0.5Gb on the shrink-wrapped device that's confusing me.
I would walk down to the Apple Store, but last time I had a problem the Genius said "I'll just Google that..." which didn't inspire confidence :-)

Have a confusion b/w 32GB iPad mini with Retina Display and 16GB iPad Air.
My usage is limited to reading ebooks,using some apps, watching movies and occationally playing games.

I do not own an iPad Mini but I have used one before in an Apple Store and they are quite comfortable. You do have to hold it with two hands (or if you have big hands, only need to hold it with one! ) but the screen does look as good/better than the iPad Air as it is the same resolution.
And to me, the full-sized iPads are only comfortable when they are on your lap, not when holding them.
And, of course more storage is a bonus - I have about 100 songs and about 200 apps (some of which are 1GB+) on a 32GB iPad w/ Retina Display so 32GB should do you just fine. 16GB would only be good if you don't download much.
