AT&T does not support iPhones on pre-paid plans and when (not if) they discover you using one, they will shut down the account. You MUST go with a post paid plan on AT&T, though if your phone is unlocked, there is no need to tie yourself down to a contract.

Yes. Doing so with the intent of using it in a different country, however, is not wise. The warranty is not valid outside of the U.S. and it will not work with LTE frequencies used outsided of North America.

Thank You !Well mate, this is a bit complicated here in North America (being from Europe myself): in the USA you can as of now only purchase phones locked to the three major carriers and they only support the "local" LTE bands. In Canada (where I live) on the other hand, you can purchase unlocked iPhones (if available!) from any Apple Store. However they also only support the North American LTE frequencies, while in Europe they are slightly different. This is the reason, why Apple sells three different iPhone 5: http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2012/09/iphone5-lte-model/.
So to prevent hassle, I would strongly recommend to purchase the iPhone 5 in Europe.

Am trying to sync my 3gs to itunes,keeps coming up with a notice saying! iphone in recovery mode. Must restore the iphone before it can be used with itunes.
Am really worried about doing this as the phone came with a note enclosed saying "Do NOT restore or update iphone software on itunes when asked to otherwise unlock will be lost"

Where, exactly did you get this phone? If it's already in a state where it says it must be restored, you don't have a choice. If the phone was hacked, it will be re-locked to the network it was originally locked to. ONLY the carrier it is locked to can legitimately authorize unlocking the phone. -
My iphone 3gs will no longer let me try passcodes and it only says "Iphone is disabled connect to itunes" well, when I connect it to my laptop, itunes says "could not connect to phone because it is locked with a passcode. you must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes" Please help!!! iTunes could not connect to the iPhone “Rasmus's iPhone” because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes. - Why is that?
iTunes is asking you to provide the passcode that was created when the device was activated.
You are able to get around the passcode if you know the apple id login and password and are able to restore the device back to default settings.

Forget iPhone password, when connect to computer "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a pass code. You must enter pass code on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
You have to restore it using a computer with iTunes per the knowledge base article above.
With iOS 7, if you have Find My Phone turned on you can login to iCloud from a computer and send an erase signal to the iPhone to clear it...that will erase all content and settings. -

Day 14 as in October 14th? If so and you are in the US, the US online store indicates an unlocked 4S won't be available for sale online until sometime in November? If so, doubtful an unlocked 4S will be available for sale at a retail store on 10/14 either.
