So it's iTunes 8.0 --not good at all

Seriously HATE 8.0.0 verison of iTunes. Bonjour service refuses to stay running even when going to Control Panel-Services-Bonjour and putting it on Automatic Start. Then I read that I should reinstall the whole iTunes download. BAD IDEA!!! Now not only does Bonjour not work, but iTunes 8.0.0 refuses to reload (import) my previous purchases and other music. Hundreds of dollars of music down the drain and all I have to show for it is a version of iTunes that should have never been released!! I have been with iTunes for over a year now, but I think it is high time to get away from them due to way too many updates that always seem to malfunction, and now the loss of my extensive music library. I am sure some tech will be on here telling me how to fix the problem and saying oh sorry you lost your music there is nothing that can be done about it -- try reinstalling iTunes again, and have a nice day! Sure I will have a nice day when someone refunds my hundreds of dollars in music that I had loaded from various CDs that I do not still have, and then the iTunes purchases... Forget telling me to run it in compatibility mode as that does not help either! I have now reinstalled twice, so that won't work either. I have done the whole control panel garbage--no help either. I have tried all the suggestions without any positive results.

I'm curious as to what "all the suggestions" consists of. Have you checked to see if the files were actually deleted from your hard drive? The default location is C:\...\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\. If you can locate your music files in there, or in another directory you (or another app) may have moved your music to, simply drag that folder into your library. You can also have Windows search your hard drive for you (Start > Search). Inconvenient, yes, but problem resolved.
McAfee security software is known to cause conflicts with Bonjour. Do you have that installed? You may need to configure your security software to allow Bonjour activity. I think the likely cause is that since Bonjour is used in sharing and networking, security software is generally suspicious of it.
If you have songs in iTunes that are located nowhere else, you might want to consider investing in an external drive to back up your music. Just in case something should go wrong with iTunes, or your computer, or the electricity in your home... etc.

Try resetting your device. Hold down the sleep and home keys, ignoring the red power down slider, and release the buttons when you see hte silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
You won't lose any data, it's juat the apple equivalent of 'control/alt/delete' and often clears up glitches

You're right, you shouldn't have to do that.
Well, you didn't say whether you've tried uninstalling & reinstalling itunes. Make sure it's installed with an admin user account. Then go into the WIndows Event Viewer and see if there are any error messages about any of the itunes processes in the installation package. That could give us a clue of what's going wrong.
Another thing that could be causing the problem is the "apple push" part of itunes, APSDaemon.exe. Read wiclee's post here about it.

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard.

ITunes Store is not loading at all - same problem for Safari

Dear all,
Got the a.m. problem. iTunes Store is not loading at all. Safari in the same way. It stops while loading any site. After "www." the developement bar stops and is giving up as well. Guess for malfunction of Safari also the problem for the iTunes Store occurs.
What can I do? I do not remember having changed anything. All version are on the newest version and should be ready to go.

i think i could say they're only saving grace is being able to swap music from different computers. Had to go on my old mac g5 to access the store as it still has the old version of itunes and then transfer them with the shared library feature. But still it shouldn't have been that hard. Very disappointed with the lack of support from one of the biggest companies in the world. such an inconvenience, especially when it's then that's losing the money with the lack of access to the store.

ITunes 10.4 not playing songs all the way through

Hi all,
I am having an issue with iTunes 64bit 10.4. My songs don't play all the way through, sometimes playing a few seconds before skipping to the next one and sometimes well into the song before skipping (without any predictable pattern even for the same song). It doesn't seem to be an issue with the transfer of music files from old computer to new computer b/c the same thing happens with new iTunes Store downloads and when I play music stored on my old computer through Home Sharing.
Any ideas what may be causing this? Thanks for your help!

Same problem on my daughter's MacBook Pro that we bought last month. She started off with iTunes 10.4, upgraded to iTunes 10.7. Probably 64 bit, though I haven't checked. I think all the new Macs are obligatory 64 bit. The problem occurred with iT 10.4, and still happens with iT 10.7 So far, we have noticed the problem only on files transferred from an old computer. In particular, these are the m4p format, which are drm protected. It does not happen with all m4p files, though.
1) In this incarnation, the problem is entirely reproducible. If the same track is played over, it skips to the next track at exactly the same point.
2) The files are not corrupt. They can be played all the way through using Quicktime Player.
Other than that, I haven't a clue.

Itunes for windows not opening at all

I upgraded to itunes 7 and ever since it has not responded at all. i have tried removing and re-installing several times and still nothing... I will try to open it up and my pinweel comes on for a few seconds then nothing. i have also tried opening it under a different user on my computer but with the same result. if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to use itunes, it will not open at all, have uninstalled and downloaded new software and 64bit for windows. i have an old ipod nano from about 5 years ago. anything i can do, even to view my purchases and watch/listen to music etc?

ok i have a advent roma laptop with window 7. my itunes used to work fine, completely. every time i plugged in my ipod it was ok. recently my ipod was not working so i never bothered with itunes, however i have movies/tv prog that i purchased and would like to view them. i have an ipod nano from about 5 years ago, the problem with thet is, it switches on, but the circular control panel does nothing, all you can do is lock and unlock it - nothing else.
i tried to download new version of itunes, then uninstalled my origonal version, incase it was corrupted etc, i then again tried to down load new version and also version that is windows 64bit. still when i select the downlaod to open as son as it is finnished nothing happens. and now my desktop shortcut has dissapeared. before when it was there, id double click it, nothing, right click to open it, nothing.
im not the best technically minded but i just dont see what im doing wrong here, please help

Itunes 10.7 not installing at all

I got the Itunes to download once and it didnt read my Iphone so i uninstalled itunes and everything to do with apple and tried to reinstall but i keep getting the error saying :
Itunes installer completed The installer encountered errors before itunes could be configured. Errors occuring during installation. Your system has not been modified. Please run the installer again, or click Finish to exit.
I also noticed that it keeps rolling back during installation right before giving me this error. Also im running windows vista.

Is Windows 7 updated?

ITunes Shared Library not visible on all computers

I have a Mac latest version of OSX and a PC with Windows XP both have latest versons of iTunes.
My shared library works on other PC's & Mac's but it is not visable on my own PC!

Adobe Bridge's search engine is not good at all. How Can I improve it?

Adobe Bridge's search engine is Horrible! Is there any plugins or setting tweaks to make the search engine better? When I search for "woosh" in bridge under my SFX folder it comes up with 10 results. When I do the same search using windows explorer it comes up with over 100 woosh sounds. And I'm searching the exact same location for both searches. I've noticed that if the file name is written "Woosh_17" or "Woosh17" or anything where there is no space after the key word, bridge will not find it. Is there anything I can do to make bridge's search engine work better?

Unless your iPhone is jailbroken, there is no spyware on it. There is no way for spyware to be downloaded or installed. You don't really explain why you think you do. As far as I can see, the Fortinet app is just an app providing information about their services - it isn't performing any functions on the phone itself. Not clear what relevance you think the Norton security on your computer has to do with it.
You might want to do something about that bug that is extracting all the punctuation from your writing though.....

Cisco Security Manager, need global search, i.e. filters are not good at all

Does anybody know how to work effectively with security manager and filtering?
It is extremely time consuming and frustrating to work with Cisco Security Manager in regards to search for entries or filter. I have not been able to find some kind of global search, is there?
How do other people cope with this?
