So many infosource??

Hi!
Here I have a very simple question about BI Content.
When I read about BI Content in help.sap.com.
There are usually have more then one InfoSources for one Infoprovider.
Does it mean that I have to get data from all these InfoSource in order to get complete data for that Infoprovider?

I guess 2LIS_11_VAHDR & 2LIS_11_VASTH are must for complete data. However, I wonder what's the use of 0SD_O01 & 0SD_O02??

That depends on your requirements.
I would suggest the following.
Analyse the requirements.
Go to help.spa.com and gain an understanding of the BI content offeringss. Which info source to activate is not a hard decision to take. Some tips here; if you wish to report on detailed level of data there will be one and if you wish to report on summarized data, there will be one. Also, the BI content has been evolving ovee the last 5-6 years and you will find more than one data source / info source. Also, some of the infi sources will come with higher support paks and with higher relases of BW / BI. So, check your version.

Hi Experts,
I would like understand the mechanism behind loading data to masterdata infoobject from two different infosource.
Ex: I have one master data infoobject called A and it has 4 attributes B C D E.
now I am loading values for A B and C from INFOSOURCE1
D and E is getting loaded from INFOSOURCE2.
could ne one please explanin how this works and how all five values get merged in single record?

Component of an InfoSource:
An InfoSource is always a quantity of InfoObjects that logically belong together and are updated in data targets.
a. <b>InfoSources with flexible update</b>
An InfoSource with flexible update can be updated in any data targets (with the exception of hierarchies). Update rules are created for this InfoSource.
InfoObjects can be used in as many InfoSources and data targets as you like.
b. <b> InfoSources with direct update</b>
Using an InfoSource with direct update, master data (characteristics with attributes or texts) for an InfoObject can be written directly (without update rules) to the master data table.

1.this is regarding SID Concept.
iIn extended start schema,there will be one fact table connected to many dimendion tables.Fact table and Dim tables are connected by dimension IDs.then this Dim table will hold various characteristics.every characteristic will store the characteristic value and address(pointer) to SID table.This SID table will hold again addresses(pointers) to attributes,text and hierarchy tables(if we assume that characteristic have attribute,text,hierarchy) which in turn contain the values.When a query is executed,the OLAP processor searches first for characteristics in dim tables and then with help of dim IDs traces Transaction Data in Fact table relevant for this combination of characteristics and gives output.Did I understand the concept right?

This question of yours is not very clear. Re phrase and post it again.

Ans:- Say for example in the customer master table customer phone no is the navigational attribute. Now when you select this navigation attriubte in your report then the processor will go and first check the value of Customer say C1 and then determine C1 phone number. Now this look up of cusotmer will happen for every customer . So if say there are huge number of records for which this look up of customer first has to happen then obviously the performance will be impacted.

New source system : selective source system change

Hello,
Here is the situation, in BW dev we had only one system for all R3 module, DEV. Now they have split DEV in two system for HR and the rest of the modules. We than have HRD and DEV. HRD is a new system which have to be connected in BW Dev. That's not the problem.
The problem is that all my HR extractions have now to take place in HRD, and not anymore in DEV (where the others modules extractions still have to continue).
I would like to change the source system assignement, but only for the HR infosources, and not manually one by one ...
I cannot use BDLS or something like that because it will change all the assignements, and not only HR ones.
Do you have any experience ?

I don't think you can "programmatically" change source system assignments for selected infosources/infopackages. I think you will need to set up the extractions from HRD manually. However, there are some things to think about.
How many infosources will be shared between DEV and HRD (ie. extract the same data from both systems)?
Do you need to segregate the master data (ie. append 0sourcesystem to shared master data infoobjects)?
Will there be a separate HRQ and QAS quality system? production?

I know that there can be only one infosource assigned to a datasource for each source system, but can an infosource have more than one datasource from different source systems?

Yes, you can have multiple datasource assignments that belong to the same source system or different systems.
DATASOURCE can only have 1 INFOSOURCE
INFOSOURCE can have many DATASOURCES

Error while activating the Master Data InfoSource for attributes

Im trying to load the attributes for master data characteristics .
I created the InfoSource and when im trying to activate it .
Then it gives the following error like below

If the problem occurred during the data load or transport, activate the transfer rule.
If the problem persists, search in the SAP note system under 'RSAR 245'
So please tell the what is the error and how to resolve this issue.
And pls give the error 'RSAR 245' message from SAP note system.

Selet the InfoObject you inserted and delete it.

a) Message: <table name> is already declared. Check whether the local part of your routines contains TABLE statements. TABLE statements always have global validity and should therefore be in the global part of the routine.
b) If the error occurs when data is being loaded, the transfer rule should be generated using RSA1.
In many cases, generating transfer rules using RSA1 results in a detailed error message.
2. Error code:
           Program to be generated is locked by parallel process.
This error can sporadically occur if parallel processes simultaneously try to generate the same program.
Unfortunately, you cannot completely prevent the error from occurring since these types of lock situations can still crop up during data loading in parallel processes. We are currently working on improving system stability relating to lock situations during the load task.
Reloading usually works without any problems.

InfoSource copied from 0BPARTNER_ATTR is not found in ABAP dictionary

Hello friends,
I am migrating 0BPARTNER_ATTR flow from 3.5 to BI 7.0 which has InfoSource.
So i copied update rules and trasfer rules from the existing flow as both have routines.
When i tried to create transformations from update rules, it propted me for an InfoSource and i gave a new infosource name ZBPARTNER_ATTR as it has not accepted the old one 0BPARTNER_ATTR.
So now new flow is as follows: 0BPARTNER_ATTR(DS) - ZBPARTNER_ATTR(IS) - 0BPARTNER(IO).
Now the problem is i don't see this commmuncation structure in ABAP dictionary like the old one /BIC/CS0BPARTNER_ATTR. I expected /BIC/CSZBPARTNER_ATTR. So in the update routine , it is not giving any result for new one.
But i don't have any issues with the similar model for sales statistics( but it has custom InfoSoure ZUC_ISU_01).
Please advise

It's better if you create direct transformation between DS and IO.
You will save many time in maintnance and the performance is better.

Update Rules in ABAP to consolidate two InfoSources into one ODS?

Hello experts,
I want to solve the following problem with ABAP update rules (I am a novice in ABAP):
In an Oracle DB I have two tables TRANSACTIONS and PARTICIPANTS with an 1:n relationship:
One or many PARTICIPANTS can be assigned to one TRANSACTIONS and
one TRANSACTION can be assigned to one PARTICIPANT.
I want an ODS that contains TRANSACTIONS with the number of male and female PARTICIPANTS of each transaction.
So I created two InfoSources each representing one of the above tables:
IO_TRANSACTION with COMM_STRUCTURE:
TRANS_ID
TRANS_DATE
TRANS_STATE
IO_PARTICIPANT with COMM_STRUCTURE:
PARTIC_ID
PARTIC_TYPE (1=male and 2=female)
TRANS_ID
Now I want to consolidate all male participants into the data field PARTIC_M
and all female participants into the data field PARTIC_F of the following ODS:
Key fields:
TRANS_ID
TRANS_DATE
TRANS_STATE
Data fields:
PARTIC_M (number of male participants)
PARTIC_F (number of female participants)
I tried it with the following lines of ABAB Code in the ABAP routine
for the datafield PARTIC_M:
IF COMM_STRUCTURE-/BIC/PARTIC_TYPE = 1.   " 1 is the value for "male"
   RESULT = 1.
ELSE.
   RESULT = 0.
ENDIF.
But after loading both InfoSources into the ODS the fields PARTIC_M and PARTIC_F are empty!!
Do I have to do some kind of joint in a start routine in order to connect Participant Information with a specific transaction?? How?

Thanks for the hint with the common key fields.
My problem is, that both tables have only the field TRANS_ID in common.
So when I update TRANSACTIONS with the three Key fields TRANS_ID, TRANS_DATE and TRANS_STATE
and PARTICIPANTS with the Key field TRANS_ID into the ODS I get data like this:
TRANS_ID, TRANS_DATE, TRANS_STATE, PARTIC_M, PARTIC_F
TR01                                                                        1              1
TR02                                                                        0              3
But I also need the fields TRANS_DATE, TRANS_STATE to be filld with data!
any suggestions?

Error during extraction through InfoSource: 0CO_OM_OPA_1

Currently we are extracting the data from SAP R/3 System into BW System through InfoSource 0CO_OM_OPA_1 (Orders: Costs and allocations)which is a part of the process chain. But we are getting the error as follows:
Idocs missing: No selection information arrived from the source s
Diagnosis
Background processing has not been completed in the source system. A short dump has most probably been logged in the source system.
System response
No selection information arrived from the source s
Procedure
Look for the short dump belonging to your data request in the short dump overview in the source system. Be sure of the correct date and time in the selection screen.
You can get the short dump list using the Wizard or from the monitor detail screen via the path "Environment -> Short dump -> Source system".
We have also checked the short dump in R/3 Production System, we are geeting following error details:

it seems that was a lack of space table problem.
This DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR comes due to lack of table space .. If you package didn't finish yet, please execute ST22 and SM21 and look for errors and dumps.
U can catch the error in ur program. this error occurs whenever database access exceeds some limit & the error is fired.
This should point you to the DB issue... frequently a table space issue.

2 infopackages for same infosource in Delta

I have to load data in 2 infopackages with initialisation update under same Infosource.
Whether it is possible to do delta loading in 2 infopackages which is under same info source?

Ya it is possible to load data in to InfoPackage . Even so many times u must seen 2 InfoPackage for full and delta upload.
Actually delta could have 2 InfoPackage but both usually not absolutely same. Their must be some difference in it. But in data target is same so their will be no problem.

2 infosource for one datasource

i knw tat we cant have 2 infosource for one datasource but my scenario is to create a custom infosource which connects to 4 datasources. these 4 datasources are part of Business contents and is already connected with relevant BusinessContent infosource and used in the system .
now how can i use the same datasources connected to a custom infosource without changing the existing work flow. help me ....

yes, as in 7.0, the datasource is not directly connected to the infosource rather to the PSA. You have the data staged in BI, so you can disturb it to as many dataproviders as you like. With this functionality available, infosource is no more mandatory in 7.0
how BW consultants develop their report when they face this problem.
I dont see any problem or any issue. As of 7.0 you can connect them, if it was in 3.x, I would do exprt datasource.

Yes yo can edit data in PSA for both Master data and transaction data.......the only diffrence is that in transaction data you have to delete the request from the target before editing......and in master data no need to delete any request....directly edit the PSA........

But suppose you don't have authorization to edit the data in PSA but still you want to edit then you can follow the process mentioned below..........
You can call up the function module RSAR_ODS_API_GET with the list of request IDs given by the function module RSSM_API_REQUEST_GET. The function module RSAR_ODS_API_GET no longer recognizes InfoSources on the interface, rather it recognizes the request IDs instead. With the parameter I_T_SELECTIONS, you can restrict reading data records in the PSA table with reference to the fields of the transfer structure. In your program, the selections are filled and transferred to the parameter I_T_SELECTIONS.
The import parameter causes the function module to output the data records in the parameter E_T_DATA. Data output is unstructured, since the function module RSAR_ODS_API_GET works generically, and therefore does not recognize the specific structure of the PSA. You can find information on the field in the PSA table using the parameter E_T_RSFIELDTXT.
RSAR_ODS_API_PUT
After merging or checking and subsequently changing the data, you can write the altered data records into the PSA table with the function module RSAR_ODS_API_PUT. To be able to write request data into the table with the help of this function module, you have to enter the corresponding request ID. The parameter E_T_DATA contains the changed data records.

How to find Tables and Fields from R3 that some InfoSource use

Hi people,
I already know how to get the table or fields from R3 that some InfoSource use by "Portal SAP" that our friend here answered.
Now, I would like to know if there is some way to get this but using some transaction in the ECC6 (R3) or BW.
I ask by that because I will be some situation that I will have to know tables and fields that some InfoSource use and maybe there isn't in the Portal SAP.
Obs.: I don't know ABAP, so I would like some way that doesn't use Debug (ABAP), if it is possible.

iTunes Match does not have the ability to remove local files.
The service operates by comparing the selected iTunes Library with the iTunes Store content and 'matching' or 'uploading' - it is very straightforward a 'match' provides equivalent access to iTunes Store content as a recognised 'purchase'; upload simply copies a 256k AAC variant into the cloud. There are no elements of this activity that can erase the local library content.
Would suggest you explore possible alternative causes of file loss. Given the pattern described of selective deletion, leaving many Songs intact - would suggest making at least 2 secure offline Song file backups and starting the library again from a fresh install of iTunes once a thorough sweep of the system has been completed for virus. It is also worth assessing the physical security of the system - who has access & with what privileges.
To access Songs from the cloud, you would have to manually delete the Song from the library or open an empty library - so even when accessing content, iTunes Match provides no local deletion capability.
