So much rendering from motion, am i doing anything wrong?
hi just wondering if there's a way to cut down on all the rendering from motion. whether i export to mov or embed in the project, any little tweak i make to motion files inside FCP causes me to need to re-render everything. Am i missing a sequence setting or render setting somewhere that'll help? it's killing my workflow.

Because you've bounced into Motion and then back again,, it needs to use the Motion engine and any effects to make the clip. Because you're not using native FCP plug-ins or effects you don't get the realtime previews you may be used to.
My advice would be to build your edit, then go into motion right at the end and work on the effected clips, once your absolutely happy with them, render out and insert them into your edit.
It really goes without saying that constant tweaking means constant re-rendering.
The other thing to do would be to use the QUICK VIEW ram preview in FCP to get a feel for what changes you made, but this is of course limited by how much ram you have in your MAC.

Can rendering from Motion reduce banding on gradients in graphics?
I have created a 50-minute animated movie, the visuals all rendered from Flash Professional 8 in the Animation codec. They look stunning. Clean & beautiful with no banding or artifacts of any kind.
I edited the movie in FCP 4 using the DV sequence preset and output as DV NTSC. The finished product is mostly gorgeous but has some colour halos and noticeable banding in the gradients I would like to eliminate.
Question is: If I bought Motion (FCStudio), could I import the whole project into Motion and output it with float rendering would that eliminate the halos and banding? The source files are currently animation codec but could all be re-rendered as uncompressed 10 bit if necessary.
Or is there some other way to deal with banding in gradients and colour halos?

As my original question had to do with buying Motion for the float rendering, I didn't give you enough detail to solve my problem in Flash & FCP4.
At least half of the gradients are in the foreground and the 3d renders, so compositing over a background won't help. I have tried all the high rez codecs and had the same problem. Sorry about wasting your time.
I have found an acceptable solution that might be worth noting.
The problem was in rendering it as a self-contained movie from FCP4. I had overlooked the CUSTOM setting under Export as QuickTIme which allowed me to ouput a REFERENCE MOVIE in ANIMATION codec ( I had previously tried outputting a reference movie in uncompressed 8&10bit but that made the actual real life DV footage in the movie terribly jittery).
The reference animation codec movie burned to DVD eliminated a lot of the banding and reduced the rest to a level that looks like a "style". The output is otherwise stunning in its clarity and colour, and for this project I am deeming that acceptable. I will buy FCP Studio and learn Motion and perhaps output an even cleaner master in future but not for this deadline.

Green renders from Motion files?
I rendered a Motion 3.0.2 file using the Export using Compressor command. The Motion file was a 720p 23.98 fps HDV file. The render setting was the standard QT RS 422 preset. I rendered twice and got a lovely green screen. Any idea why this is happening? BTW I rebooted my computer.
I would suggest doing a standard render out of Motion by using the File > Export command. Just use the default settings that will create a QuickTime movie with Animation as the codec. You can then take that movie into Compressor and encode to whatever format you'd like.

i´m cleaning some tables, cause the tablespace is at 98%, so i started erasing records from last month from two tables, i erased +3 million records just for tha last month, that would at least free some % right?, the problem is that it didn´t, i´m using toad, and when I check the tablespaces, it´s at 98% no change at all, even, when I check the tablespace map, I don´t see any free spaces O_X, am i doing something wrong, or missed something

from the first code, that erased million something records, and from the other it erased 1.7 million records, I didn´t get any error messages, the whole operation took like about 45 minutes, and toad reported that it deleted those records, so that´s my question, if i didn´t get any errors why is it that when i check the tablespace it´s still at 98%? O_O?
thanx in advance for any opinions, or help =DDeleting data from a table will generally put blocks from the table onto the free list, meaning that subsequent INSERT and UPDATE operations on that table can reuse the empty space. Deleting data from a table will not cause the tablespace to have more free space, however, because the individual tables still own segements and extents, even if they are empty.

My box shadow on the nav divs seems to be working OK for FireFox, Chrome, and IE9+ (absent in IE8).
Perhaps I need to do something for my footer or content div (min-height 690 px) because sometimes the footer looks really tall depending on screen resolution.

You do have a couple small errors in your html that "could" cause issues.
You are missing an alt attribute in your images on line 93 and 381. It's not a critical issue, but it's best if all images have an alt attribute set.
On line 381 you also forgot to close your image, you should have ...height="28" /> rather than ...height="28">
There are quite a few instances where you use the & symbol within html text. That should be changed to the short code & within the source to avoid possible issues.

I upgraded to itunes 10.5 on my Windows Vista Desktop and my wife's Windows 7 laptop as well.
On my desktop I use my login/account information.
On my wife's laptop used her login/account information.
Enabled home sharing on both the computers and authorized both the computers.
On my desktop when I open itunes and go to preferences screen and in there under sharing I don't see Apps listed anymore.
So I cannot share the apps I bought using my account/desktop with my wife's account/laptop.
By the way I am able to see music and movies across both the computers and can even share it. Just not the apps since the options is now not available under preferences >> sharing tos hare apps.
I am using iphone 4S and my wife uses iphone 4.

I have a Macbook and its battery has been bad, so I brought it in to the apple store and got a new battery under my warranty. After fully charging the battery once, the maxium time I had left was 2:57, which is an hour longer than my old battery, but shouldn't my battery be lasting somewhere around 4 hours since it is brand new?

The Help Link from the Application Pages Does not Work for Peoplesoft Campus Solutions 9.0
Hi everyone.
I have a problem, I have been trying to set up the Help Link from the Application Pages for Peoplesoft Campus Solutions 9.0 according to the instructions given in the Document: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17566_01/epm91pbr0/eng/psbooks/EnablingtheHelpLinkfromApplicationPages.pdf , (referenced in the Doc ID 1289101.1, E-PB: How to Set Up the Context Sensitive Help with Hosted PeopleBooks using Universal Linking).
I follow the instructions of that document carefully:
I go to: PeopleTools -> Web Profile -> Web Profile Configuration
2. Then I choose the Web Profile: "Development".
3. Then Change the value for the Help URL field by entering the following URL format: http://www.oracle.com/pls/topic/lookup?id=%CONTEXT_ID%&ctx=hrcs90r5 , the ctx parameter selected is the one that correspond to the Campus Solutions (hrcs90r5) according to the Product Line Code Table (ULinkID) especified in the mentioned document.
4. Stop the Web Domain and Clear cache.
5. Start the Web Domain again.
After setting up the Web Profile Configuration I test the help links, thas is why I click in the Help link in any Peoplesoft CS 9.0 Application Page (modify a person), but the next error message appears: "We're sorry, the topic you requested was not found.".
I tried many combinations with the ctx parameters URL but it does not work yet.
I did the same test, but this time using the Help URL field with a HRMS ctx parameter by entering the following URL format: http://www.oracle.com/pls/topic/lookup?id=%CONTEXT_ID%&ctx=hcm92pbr5 , and It works fine !!!
According to the previous test you realize that It works with HRMS ctx parameter but not with Campus Solutions 9.0 ctx parameter, Does anybody know what else can I do ? Am I doing anything wrong or missing? or maybe the Oracle's ctx parameter for Campus Solutions URL It is broken simply.

The CS PeopleBooks would only work for CS pages, e.g.: try navigating to Main Menu > Campus Community > Personal Information > Add/Update a Person
Also, you can use multiple ctx parameters:
E.g.: http://www.oracle.com/pls/topic/lookup?id=%CONTEXT_ID%&ctx=hrcs90r5&ctx=hcm92pbr5&ctx=pt852pbh2
This way the help would work for the HR related pages like Workforce Administration, Campus Solutions pages like Campus Community and also PeopleTools pages like Web Profile Configuration. Hope this clarifies your question. Thanks! -

Welcome to the Apple community.
You must remember, that whilst you see Internet speeds quoted as say 8, 12, 16, 30 Mb per second etc, this refers to download speed. most service providers will give you around 1 Mb per second as upload speed. At these speeds a gigabyte of information will take around about 2 1/4 hours to upload.
So in answer to your question, no I don't think you are doing anything wrong. -
Crashing when rendering video from Motion
I'm using the most up-to-date versions of both Motion and FCP. Whenever I try to render a rather complex piece of video from motion, FCP crashes after having done a little more than 50% of the rendering. Has anyone else had a similar issue with this? If so, is there something I should try to make it not do this?
I've had that problem, and its usually due to your machine. I've found motion struggle a lot when trying to work with HD graphics on a comp that is just not built for it. Try setting your viewing settings to be in lower resolution so that you're able to see what you're doing, it'll just look crappy until you export it. I've had luck with that.
