So my brightness buttons (F1 and F2) don't do anything.

All my other function buttons are working perfectly, I can still adjust the brightness in system preferences>displays as usual. It's not the end of the world or anything, it's just inconvenient.
Anyone know a fix?

Hello, did you mean create an Apple ID without any credit card info?
If that I can help. Just go to iTunes and choose a "Free" apps to download. After that, it will pop up with "sign in with existing Apple ID" or "Create a New Apple ID". Click create a new apple id. through this process, you will see a "none" choice in payment method while registering the Apple ID.

Using Firefox links, buttons checkboxes and so, don't work after first action on a webpage.

I have an irritating issue working in web pages. If I start a page and I have to click or select something it works the first time but the second time I first have to do an action outside Firefox before I can proceed working.
I can not check a check box, or select a value form a pull down list with the mouse. but I can navigate to that with the arrows and select with enter.
With Thunderbird I have the same issue.
I had this issue a year ago using Windows XP. I reinstalled the machine with Windows7 and that worked fine until now suddenly it comes back.
It is only the case in these two applications, the rest is working fine.
Is there anyone who can give me a solution?

It doesn't use RAM memory. It uses memory from my HD. As soon as I close firefox because it don't respond I see the memory going back to normal. I will try now to uninstall/reinstall to see what will happen.

Dear All, the backspace and enter keys on my wireless keyboard suddenly stopped working. Im using OS 10.7.5 and have tried a PRAM reset which didn't work. I also used the keyboard viewer to see if the keys worked on that but they don't. This is driving me mad, can anyone please tell me what to do? For my computers, though some of them support BlueTooth devices and accessories,
my preference and economy of standard, is to have wired USB and also use powered
USB hubs for accessories.
I've used USB wired keyboards and mouse products; and some I've bought from the
original owners who had upgraded to BT, and never used the new Apple USB model;
so I have spares of these on-hand since they seldom fail, but do work when BT won't.
{A SMC reset should not cause a problem, or seldom has; but can solve some.}
In my opinion, the wired USB keyboard is an essential accessory, if not a necessary
primary means of user access on a continuous basis. At least until the wires fail...!

The "Software Update" buttons "Finish" and "Cancel" don't respond when I click them.

A small popup will appear in the lower right of my screen stating that FIREFOX 32.0.2 is available for downloading. I click on "Download Now". Another larger popup appears entitled "Software Update".
This is completely blank except for three buttons in the lower right corner. The first is suppressed. The second, "FINISH" is enable. When I click on it, nothing happens. The third, "CANCEL" doesn't respond when I click on it either.
This is my first experience with this issue. Normally I am able to download and install new releases of FIREFOX without incident.

After a backup all music files are invisible and iTunes don't see anything

I got a very strange problem and I'm really lost.
I made a backup of my portable iTunes libray (using a 160 GB Maxtor one touch 4 mini usb) on another backup disk (750 GB Maxtor onetouch III firwire 800). I have my library on a external disk to safe disk space on my MacBook Pro disk. For the back up I use the software Personal Backu4 of Intego Software. The 160GB iTunes disk is Formatted als Mac OS Extended format.
Now all back up data that aren't music files (AAC or MP3 files) was correctly back up, but all music files was like deleted, all artist > album folders looks empty. But, cheking with the disk utility it looks that all files exist and the Used space (36.06 GB) looks correctly and the numbers of files too (some 5942 files). But all files are invisible, folders looks empty. Now is looks that all purchased and CD imported int my library didn't exist anymore: and this in BOTH disks, side by side is the same situation.
How I can come out from this situation, I really don't have any idea how to coming out fron this sad situation.

OK, here's what REALLY doesn't make sense.
After manually fixing a lost file, NOTHING in the XML changes. Not one single character changes in the XML file. I diff'd the whole file before and after - no difference. So, basically, it goes out and 'finds' it and updates something that we can't see to repair the connection, meanwhile we are left to think that this XML file has the library data in it.
Mind you, the media file(s) are present and accounted for in the file system - correct name and path and everything - before and after I go Locate the file when iTunes complains about it being missing..
iTunes is so overbloated, we can't even fix stuff when we see precisely how it is broken.

Keyboard Brightness Buttons Not Working

I have a macbookpro. I noticed recently that the keyboard brightness buttons (up and down) were not working. When I push either one of them the brightness image comes up with a small circle with a line through it (as in like no smoking)? I can change the brightness setting in System Preferences / Display. Any ideas why this situation would occur and how to change it so that I can use the keyboard controls? It is inconvenient not to be able to adjust the brightness from the keyboard. Use your left thumb to cover the iSight camera lens in the top of your display bezel. This will also cover the ambient light sensor that is 5mm to the left of the camera. With the sensor covered, can you adjust the brightness of your keyboard using the F5 and F6 keys? If so, the problem is simply that the ambient light level in your room is higher than the threshold at which the keyboard backlighting is turned off automatically. Your MBP thinks you don't need the backlighting on.
You can override the automatic backlighting control by using Lab Tick.

Brightness buttons not working in Windows 10

Hi I have an HP 255 G3 Notebook running Windows 10 64-bit. The brightness buttons (f2 and f3) are not working for brightness adjustments. Nothing happens when the buttons are pressed. I have an AMD lap top and AMD'S latest graphics driver disables the brightness keys for some reason so i went to device manager (windows button + X ------> Display Adapter-------> click on grapics card------> driver tab------> update driver)after i did that windows searched for driver and updated and right after that the brightness keys worked! Mighty Mouse Button 3/4 Settings Don't "Stick"

I have not been able to find this problem in any of the other forums discussing MM problems.
Here's the symptom: immediately after logging in, my MM works correctly. All 4 buttons do what I configured them to do; specifically, button 3 controls the Dashboard and Button 4 is the Expose Desktop command.
However, shortly after logging in, Button 3 and 4 cease to do anything. When I go to the Preference panel (either the Mouse/Keyboard panel or the Desktop/Expose panel), the two buttons show as being unassigned. If I reassign them to their previous functionality, the buttons will work, but only as long as the Preference pane is open. Once I close it, the buttons lose functionality.
Log out and log back in, and the buttons work briefly.
This is highly annoying. Any suggestions?

I haven't a clue, specifically button 3 doesn't work. Button 1, 2 and 4 are okay and perform assigned functions.
Maybe its time to replace the mouse?
Is the mouse covered under applecare?

Volume and brightness buttons don't work anymore

I did a complete restore from factory DVD and since then the volume and brightness buttons don't work anymore. I have an All-in-One AE1900. Anybody can help me fix this problem? Since I do not have the original keyboard anymore, I can't use the hot key combination to do it. Thanks for your help.

I've had this same problem, but when I am using "Parallels" to run windows programs on my new Macbook Air, with an external Mac LED Cinema Display, the brightness keys on the external apple keyboard do not work. Sound seems to work fine. They work fine in Mac mode.
Any solutions?
