So, yesterday and earlier today my zen touch had the power light lite, but no picture. Well, just a few minutes ago i noticed the power light was off, and oh how happy i was. Well, i go to try to power it up and nothing happens. Thinking maybe the batteries died i plug it into my charger. The power light goes on again, but it doesnt blink which indicates charging. So i unplug it and plug it into my usp port. THE LIGHT BLINKS, SUCCESS! Only problem is, screen won't turn on and my PC won't read that it is connected. Maybe my MP3 player is defected, which i hope its not, because i need it for finals week*starts tomorrow*

As TridentCQB intimates, I would reset the player, and also run a disk cleanup. This should hopefully clear any strange behaviour. To access the Rescue Mode hold down the play button and KEEP it held down, press the tiny reset switch once, and KEEP the play button held down until the player boots into the Rescue Mode. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.

Your description of the problem is rather vague, but I'll take a guess at what you mean.
Quit Mail if it's running. Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:

Creative Media Explorer for ZEN 16GB on Win7 Acting Weird

E-mailed Creative support earlier this evening only to have them get back to me that you only get a year of e-mail support This is what I originally wrote to them:
"Hello, Creative Media Explorer now acts strangely whenever I try to add music purchased from iTunes. If I drag-and- drop the iTunes music using Windows Explorer, a window will pop up saying "Preparing" and then a conversion will proceed where the iTunes music is converted from the .m4a format to a .wma file. When I try to use the "Add iTunes Media" wizard from the main Creative Media Explorer window, it says "The following files are not transferred" and says "Unknown error" under the "Reason" tab. This has never happened before. I have looked up the specs for the Creative ZEN player, and it says it can play purchased iTunes music, so I should not be seeing a conversion box or an error. I have previously added iTunes music with no problems and they playback fine. The only way I can add purchased iTunes music is to directly add to the player without using the Creative Media Explorer through "Portable Devices". When I add purchased iTunes music this way, it asks me "Do you want to convert (filename) before it s copied to your device?" and I see the options "Yes, convert and copy" and "No, just copy" with a warning on the bottom that says "Your file will be copied, but might not play on your device." I add the music, and it works fine.
I have tried the "Repair" utility under "Add/Remove Programs" in Windows; I have un-installed and re-installed the program from the original CD-ROM; and I have un-installed the program from CD-ROM and re-installed the program by downloading the .exe file for 64-bit systems from the ZEN webpage.
The only thing I can think of is that an update for Windows may have messed something up with Creative Media Explorer."

IPod Touch has been acting weird lately??

Okay, I've had my IPod Touch 4th generation since December 2011. Yes, I have had the IPod for a while now, but it hasn't given me any major problems until now. Ever since a few days ago, I was unable to text, surf the internet, or use social media efficiently because whenever I click on things, it selects others, even when I'm not even close to touching them. I don't think it's uncalibrated, because if it was, the calibration would be seriously bad. When I try texting, it clicks other letters, scrolls through my messages, attempts to delete messages, and when I try to scroll, it sends messages of random letters to my friends! Try explaining to everyone why you keep sending them random letters. I tried rebooting, but that just made these things occur more frequently. I don't have a screen protector on it, and there aren't any major scratches on the screen. It isn't cracked, either. What should I do?

There is not calibration.
Make sure the screen is clean with any screen protector removed.

Hi. I have two V Plus players and one has suddenly gone almost completely black. It plays fine. I have updated the firmware with the Rescue Tool and reset the unit through the little pinhole on the side. Still no display.
So, I contacted Customer service. They responded quickly the same day with an RMA number and instructions for returning it for inspection.
The player was a Christmas gift so even though I bought it online in November, it never got used till Christmas. Guess what? They're telling me the 90 days has expired and they want $25 NON_REFUNDABLE fee to look at it. Even though it has only been in use for 64 days. I just emailed them saying this was not acceptable. I'll post their response, good or bad so other people know what kind of company we're dealing with.
Judging from these message boards, it appears the darkening screen is a recurring problem that the company should investigate.

Zen Touch Battery still not lasting, please h

I've taken all advice on the board. I've taken the advice of customer support, charge for 2 hours after drain, still not ok. Don't use EQ, about 3 songs are WAV, i have the volume at about 0, let drain several times, back light is one minimal last, contrast is low. Still only getting about 6 hours playback.
Anymore things I can do?

If you're even playing some WAVs, and downloading/uploading to the PC, you'll *dramatically* use up the battery. The biggest power user of the player is the hard disk, so anything that uses this e.g. high bit-rate tracks, and the two things you've mentioned, will use the battery up.
The way to test the battery is fully charge the battery (leave it for 4 hours connected to the mains adapter) then play only 28 kbit/s CBR MP3 files. The battery should last like this for around 24 hours.

I've tried practically everything. Keyboard is still acting weird. Why?

Keyboard is not responding well. It keeps disconnecting every time I press the Left Command Key. When I press the Spacebar, it presses the N key also. When I press Z, it also presses the Delete Key. Same with some of the keys, they press two buttons.
I've tried all the resets.
I've created a new Administrator account.
I tried deleting the Bluetooth.plist.
I've re-paired the keyboard with the iMac 6 times.
I've replaced the batteries with fresh ones twice (non-rechargable ones).
Everything in Universal Access like Slow Keys or Mouse Keys are off.
I've checked with Keyboard Viewer.
No other device is in the area that is using bluetooth. (So there's no interference at all)
I'm using an ethernet cable for internet. (So there's also no interference with WiFi)
The keyboard I'm using is the one that came with a 2010 iMac 27" (Wireless Keyboard)
I have never dropped this thing.
What is causing all of this?

The symptoms you describe can be caused by damage to the keyboard. This is often dirt or liquid contamination creating short circuits (cross-connecting two or more circuits) inside the keyboard.
The best way to check for that is to use a different, known-good keyboard. If the symptoms disappear when using the different keyboard, then you'll know that the source of the problem is the original keyboard itself. The issue then becomes whether to attempt repairs, or to replace it.

Zen Touch still not working on pC

After countless tries, and following of instructions by Uber Gurus and whatnot, My zen touch can still not work on my pc.
Since I got my zen, it worked fine on my pc, but randomly one day it started malfunctioning.
It started with my pc freezing on loading the library in nomad explorer and mediasource, now the library does not load at all and nomad explorer shows nothing. GODDAAMNIT this is pissing me off.
It works on another computer but that's not what's bothering me.
I have installed the newest drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled, I've done the same with mediasource and nomad explorer.
--I have gone into recover mode, cleaned up, and rebooted, result: NONE!!!
It works on another computer so what can be the problem?
---I've cleaned the registry of any creative tracks and what? NOTHING!!!
There has to be something, honestly, so far all I've written in the forums is complaints and problems.

When you restore, Touch ID will not work.

What's wrong with my Zen Touch 20

my Zen Touch 20GB is acting kind of weird... most of the time it just won't turn on anymore.
Nothing happens when I press the "power on" switch! It just won't turn on. Then, when I plug in the power cable, after 30 seconds the charging display becomes acti've (but not everytime, sometimes the player won't react at all!), showing me that the battery is "full". At that point it is possible for me to switch on the player and then it works fine (unless I dare turning it off again).
What could be the reason? And what can I do?

Zen Touch is stuck in "re-building library" m

I have never had any problems besides this and I have owned my zen touch since Nov. 2004 but I also never updated any firmware or anything and now I can't because it won't power on unless it is plugged into a wall outlet, it doesn't power on by itself or through my computer. It just keeps going to "re-building library". It is not re-building anything because the bar only moves about /8 of the way and just stays right there. I just changed my battery thinking it was that but it is still stuck. I also did a "clean up" and rebooted and it didn't help either. Anyone have this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated because I can't update any firmware if it doesn't power on to get connected to my computer. TIA,

Tia, I also got my MP3 player around the same time as you and have been having similar problems. Mine was trying to rebuild the library for awhile but after a few tries of that it just completley turned off altogether. Now it tells me their is a hardware problem. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to try next?!

Nomad Zen Touch & Windows Vi

Since I installed Windows Vista some odd weeks ago, my nomad zen touch has never acted normally when docked. I typically can't even load up more than a couple songs before everything freezes up. When I dock it, Windows appears to be trying to launch Windows Media Player, which itself crashes. I've tried using the Creative Media Center as well as Nomad Explorer and have no luck. I've tried reinstalling the firmware(version .0.03) as well as the drivers and to no avail.
Is there anything I can do to get my zen touch to work with Windows Vista? It'd be a **bleep** shame if I have to throw it away and go out and buy an Ipod now.

From what I've heard, doesn't that wipe your player clean of all files? I have probably 3,000 songs on mine, I'd hate to have reinstall them all again.
Is that your only choice for getting Vista compatibility? Also, when you say it has nati've compatibility with Vista, what about playlist? Because only the creative media center seems to let you create and edit playlist from my experience. Playlists are key for me.

My Zen Touch has suddenly stopped worki

Hello, newbie alert in progress!
My 20Gb Zen Touch was working fine this morning till I tried reinstalling the drivers that I got from http://www.jumpingcholla.com/jce_nomad_ZEN.htm (I had to do it this way after I lost my original CD ) after I had to reinstall the system recently. I plugged the device back in afterwards but XP seemed to be unsuccessful in detecting it properly.
And now it seems that the thing simply won't turn on, even when disconnected from the computer and with the lock disabled! The light on the power switch remains lit, but holding it down does nothing and I'm not getting anything on the screen. It's as if I'm being permanently locked out of my own player for some reason or other! (And yes, it's fully charged, I charged it up only last night!)
If you need me to post my serial number on here, let me know. But I'm using Windows XP SP2, AMD Athlon XP 2000+, 52Mb RAM, Creative Zen Touch 20Gb, still using the original firmware that came with my unit (seeing as I found no real problems with the device so far), and I tried upgrading the drivers to .30.03 but that didn't make much of a difference.
While I'm here, do you know if there's any way I can apply for a replacement copy of the install CD seeing as it appears to have disappeared with little chance of finding it again?

Well, resetting the device worked in the end! Whew, thanks for allowing me to not worry lots anymore!
Thing about the install CD though...... I assumed the downloadable .30.03 drivers alone would be all you need post-reinstall, but they didn't seem to help detect the device afterwards, therefore I think they're upgrade-only ones.
Unless of course I'm not looking hard enough and base drivers are available too from this site? Is it like in one of the software packages or something?
