So No Love for Vista Users then?

So there is no love for Vista Users to install Itunes on my pc? Are the People working on a Fix so it can be ran on that OS? i only need Itunes, not Quicktime.

    Step 1: Download subinacl.msi from the link

    Step 2: Download my modified version of reset.cmd from here and save the file in 'C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools'.
    Step 3: Open Command Prompt and type the following without quotes (hit Enter):
    'cd c:\program files\windows resource kits\tools'
    Step 4: Now type 'reset.cmd' and hit Enter (without quotes)
    You will see the Command Line Tool running for some seconds. The issue should have been fixed and Quicktime should run again.

  • 2.1 update for Vista users

    Decided to wait a day or so until some of the bugs were worked out and glad I did. I just updated to iTunes 8.0 and 2.1. Total download and update took 15 minutes. Everything was smooth
    - did not lose any data from Contacts/Email/Recent Calls etc...
    - No issues with my pop acct or MSE for work
    - before update could not access voicemail via bluetooth. Now I can
    - Checked GPS and it acquired my position within 15 seconds and was accurate to roughly 25 feet
    - Can't vouch for improved battery life yet
    - 3G signal seems to have improved for my Home Office from a consistent 2 bars to 5 bars at the moment. Haven't moved around town yet to see how it switches back and forth to EDGE
    - Contacts come up quicker and can now scroll almost instantaneously vs having to wait up to 10 seconds before the update
    So far I am very happy. Before I was seriously considering getting rid of the phone and going back to a Blackberry. Now if they will just give me voicedialing via Bluetooth headset I will consider it the perfect phone.

    It is. Win7 Ultimate64 is running on it right now, with the Boot Camp 64 drivers from the original boot camp drivers on the macbook CD.

  • Reserving the sessions for a user in Oracle database

    Hi,
    Suppose the Oracle database is running in dedicated mode.
    I want sys or abc user to have some sessions reserved for them.
    This is because if there is heavy load on the system and all the sessions are used up then we can not connect to database to see what is happening inside.
    However, if we have got some policy on the number of reserved sessions for a user then we can always log in as that user and see what is happening inside the database.
    Consider any version of database, if you can get what I am asking then try answering it, else I can elaborate it further.
    Please note that I do not want to change the server mode from Dedicated to Shared.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    There has to be some way to achieve this. But your sugestions are correct to have a user connected always if we are going to face an issue.
    Any ways if there is no other way to achive this then we can not do any thing, else Oracle come up with something.

    yes you have to maintain it's password and keep it's password somewhere in documentation, so that whenever you will use this user for any application, then you can give the corrrect password there, instead of resetting the password again n again.
    and if somewhere in future, if you reset the password for this user, then you should update that password in the applicaitons where this userid is used, like in RFCs
    since all backgournd jobs are scheduled and run with this user, this user is critical for the system.

  • MSS PCR form not pulling data for a user

    Hi All,
    On Organizational/Position Change Form(on Portal)  one of the user don't see the data in the dropdowns in this form.
    But for other users it is working just fine. The user not able to see the data in drop down can access other PCR's.
    I was wondering if there is a way we can test the form for the same user in the backend. If we can test him in the backend and the values are being populated for this user then there is a Portal problem.
    Can you please tell me how can we test this form for this user in the backend.

  • PowerPoint add-in is not working when installed for All Users using msi installer.

    I have created PowerPoint add-in using c#-vsto. I have created msi installer to install this add-in with following two options:
    1. Just me
    2. Everyone
    However, add-in is not working properly (Events and custom task panes are not working). 
    I have created registry key as below
    1. for "Everyone" : HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\Powerpoint\Addins\MyAdd-in
    2. for Just me : HKPU\Software\Microsoft\Office\Powerpoint\Addins\MyAdd-in
    But when I set InstallAllUsersVisible property to False (When add-in is installed only for current user ), then add-in works fine for current user.
    Please let me know if anything is missing!!!

  • Disable JRE Auto update in Vista for all users?

    I feel like a complete idiot that I can't figure this out, but it's either so obvious I'm overlooking it, or I just plain can't figure it out, so I'm hoping someone here can help.
    We have not yet been able to figure out how to simply disabled the Auto Update option when installing JRE under Vista, so it will never check for updates, no matter what user is logged into a pc. I've just installed the newest version 1.6.0_05-b13, but get the same results.
    Basically, we are creating a "base clone image" of a Vista workstation and we need the auto update feature of the JRE to be disabled so it doesn't check for updates. When a new user logs into the pc, we want them to 'inherit' this setting from the default user profile, or we simply want a 'global' setting on the pc that stops all JAVA update checks from occuring. But even though there are multiple registry keys that 'look' like they control the auto update function, no matter how we set them the update option still shows it is enabled when you open the JAVA control panel.
    We have 2 basic problems:
    - When a standard user runs the JAVA Control Panel applet and they select the 'Update' tab, the option to "uncheck" autoupdates is "grayed out". If we make the user a local administrator, then it is not grayed out anymore and they can set the option. Problem is, we have thousands of users and none of them are local administrators, hence the problem of getting it to already be defaulted to not check for updates. How do we get the update checkbox to NOT be grayed out for a NON-administrator?
    - How do we set the 'global' (or default) option to disable the auto update checkbox for ALL users? No matter what we try, when a new user logs in, the auto update feature is still enabled after their initial profile is generated from the first time login.
    I was able to figure out if I change the "EnableJavaUpdate" value in the below registry key, it will "remove" the Update tab from the JAVA Control Panel. But does the simply remove the tab? Or does it remove the tab AND disable auto updates for ALL users on the computer?

    Thank you for the reply. I apologize for not getting back here sooner.
    We actually already use a deployment.properties file located under the Default User profile on our Vista setup. It's located under the "C:\Users\Default\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment" folder. This file does get copied over to a new user profile when a new person logs in. This is what we want since we have set things like the maximum cache size and temporary file location.
    The problem though is there is no setting that disables the automatic update check within this file. The best I can figure out is that for some reason under the Vista environment, the auto update setting is controlled in the registry at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy
    There is a REG_BINARY key there that appears to control this option. It is named "EnableAutoUpdateCheck". The problem is that the value of this key is "several" characters long and it is "different" from one user to the next. I tried disabling auto update under the Java Control Panel and then copied the value of this key into the same aread of the Default User hive but when a new user logs in, it ignores that setting and auto update is still enabled. I also tried using a simple "0" to disable the autoupdate or a "1" to enable it for this key, but it doesn't work either. (This is very frustrating why there isn't a simple 1 or 0 setting to turn the auto update setting on/off.)
    We had no problem getting this to work under XP. Basically we didn't have to do anything special in XP. We simply created a temporary user account and made all the settings we wanted and then copied that profile over to our Default User profile and the Java autoupdate setting under the Java Control Panel was disabled for all new users. We did the same thing under Vista, but the auto update setting was ignored and re-enabled for all new users.
    I read through the settings for the deployment.properties file located at the below link, but there is nothing there to control the auto update setting.

    Thus, we can't get the auto update setting to be disabled in the default user profile so it will in turn be disabled for all new users that log into the computer. This is extremely frustrating.
    The other equally frustrating problem we have run into under the Vista environment is that when you run the Java Control Panel, the option to disable the auto update check is "grayed out" and the user can't uncheck this option to disable auto update. We have found you must be an administrator before this option is no longer grayed out. Since none of our thousands of users are admins, this is also a problem for us. (This option works fine for a standard user if you are on a XP machine though. It's just Vista where things have changed.)
    I've sent repeated emails to Sun in the past asking for help, but they never replied.

    I have faced one issue in creating a search form in ADF, in that I have used af:query and table region. and I have attached an lov vo to the base vo for the list of values and given UI hint as Input values with List of values. Now the issue is that I have given auto submit property as true so when I give some value suppose "Jan-14" and tab out it gives me all the correct results. but if I give like "Jan%" and then tab out then it does not give me any value. Could you kindly help me with some solution. I am using Jdev 11.1.1.6.0.

  • ADE suddenly quit working for all users on my Vista computer.  What should I do?

    Please help.
    Adobe Digital Editions quit working for all users on my Wndows Vista computer after I tried several times to install a book that wouldn't install.  The book is one of three I recently purchased even though the other two installed with no problem.  Other books were already installed. 
    I uninstalled and re-installed ADE with the latest version and tried again after clearing out the "My Digital Editions" folders by moving the contents elsewhere.  The same problem occurs with all users on my computer.  
    The program runs showing no books or bookshelves despite contents in the "My Digital Editions" folder.  If I try to "Add to Library,"  the program shuts down and shows nothing- not even an error message when re-run.  Even though I'm only able to create a bookshelf, no bookshelf appers when the program is re-run.
    I even tried de-authorizing and re-authorizing my computer.
    What should I do?

    Whilst your Apple ID (presumably the @mac.com) may have been the original and been linked to @me.com at the MobileMe period and then to iCloud (@icloud.com) you need to keep to the same Apple ID through out (the iMessages server seems to treat them as different IDs to some extent).
    In the Finder use the Go Menu > Go to Folder and enter ~/Library/Preferences
    Find and Drag to the Trash com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist
    On the iPhone remove those emails that are not the Apple ID in use.
    On Restarting the Mac version you will have to re-enter the Apple ID.
    If you then restart again you should get the pop ups to say what the iPhone is using (linking the iPhone number to the Apple ID)
    Once you enable Text Forwarding on the iPhone then the Mac Version should generate and show you the Code to then enter in the iPhone's dialogue box to pair the devices.
    If each Contact is turning red as you try to Send and reporting that the Contact is "Not Registered with iMessages" then you have a different issue.
    This is caused by a partial login to the iMessages server and it seems it is one of those that only contacting Apple Support and saying you have an Account issue with the iMessages server from your Mac can it get sorted. (make sure you say it is an Account issue)
    Of course it is the iPhone that is actually sending the SMS messages so it does need to have Carrier service at this point.

    Have seen a couple threads regarding this but unfortunately nothing that solves my problem thus far!
    Right now, our developers are using the Domain Admin account to promote their website code using MSI files.  I'd like to change this as I feel the Domain Admin account should be on lock down and only used when absolutely necessary, pretty common.  The
    same goes for my account too, I would like to absolve as much use of the Domain Admin as I can.
    Problem is, when they run installers from their own accounts, they receive this error: You do not have sufficient privileges
    to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Log on as administrator and then retry this installation
    The accounts they are using are part of the Built In Administrators group and the Domain Admins group... I'm not sure what other permission you'd need in a domain?  We've gone as far as explicitly giving them local admin access on this server and still
    nothing changes.
    Is there a Group Policy or something that I can change to provide install rights and possibly remove these accounts as Domain Admin and more along the line of Power User?

  • Question for iPod Touch/Windows Vista Users

    Has any other Vista users out there had any problems syncing?
    As long as I don't sync large amounts of data, it works fine...but when I sync a lot of songs at once, or just 1 full length movie, I get playback problems. Some songs will skip and stutter, but that can usually be fixed by recopying the songs individually. Movies (even ones downloaded from iTunes) will not play all the way through. They will either crash and take me back to the videos menu, or they will reset the iPod Touch. Because movies are so large, simply resyncing them will not solve the problem.
    I have tried resetting and restoring the iPod Touch, and reinstalling iTunes, and nothing has corrected this problem. I don't think it is a problem with the iPod Touch, because this doesn't happen when I sync using a friend's Windows XP computer.
    Has this happened to anyone else? Any thoughts on how to solve this problem?

    I have the exact same problem - point for point, my iPod touch is doing exactly as you described. I have tried all sorts of things, but to no avail.
    You added a new USB card to your machine, and that has solved the problem? May I ask if you still use your original 'onboard' USB for all of your other peripherals, leaving the new USB card for just your iPod? perhaps it was one of your other peripherals that was causing the problem. Just a thought, but I am certainly glad to hear that the problem is solvable. USB cards aren't very expensive, perhaps I should go invest in one to see if it solves the problem for me too.

    In iTunes 11 uncheck the preferences setting in in the iTunes Preferences panel "Advanced > Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to Library"

  • Resolve installed Flash player not excuted for all the Vista users on my PC?

    I have a Windows Vista 32-bits system.
    I have created 2 admin and 2 standard users.
    Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) 32 bit is installed but also Chrome and Firfox are used.
    For 1 admin user Flash works fine when accessing a site in IE9 that requires Flash.
    For the other users, including the admin user, IE9 must be run "as adminstrator" by specifically choosing that option.
    If not run "as administrator" IE9 states that Flash needs to be installed. That either leeds to Flash player not being installed (error is that it is already installed) or that after a succesful installation the problem simply occurs again (and again and again ...)
    I want the standard users on the pc to be able to navigate to trusted sites without running IE9 in "as adminstrator" mode.
    What do I need to do?
    Can I set Adobe Flash player to be available for all the users for Vista and IE9?
    Do I need to alter registry settings manually?
    If yes - how and which?

    Thanks for the reply but unfortunately it does not resolve the problem.
    Other users (including the other system administrator) still need to run IE as administrator.
    When in my sysadmin account the shortcuts for other users to a URL requiring Flash and using IE9 execute fine GRRRRRRR.
    This is very frustrating.
    On my pc Chrome aand Modzilla have no problems.
    The childrens protective software I have however is based on IE.
    Do you have any more suggestions?
    My alternative is to downgrade IE9 to IE8 or 7 but that is also not an easy exercise ...
