So now with no DRM, what about my current library?

I have spent tons of $$ on itunes songs and would like to remove the DRMs.
Will this be do-able? How?
Thanks.

If a track is available as iTunes Plus, there will be no 128kbps version, so your scenario shouldn't arise unless you purchased the track this very morning. Apple released the iTunes Plus tracks the moment their agreements with the record companies allowed them to, which should be the vast majority (the rest will appear when the record companies allow and provide them). If you did purchase a DRM-equipped track this morning, then contact iTunes Store customer service and ask them if there's anything they can do for you.

  • Scale Object with Panel, but what about inside a Tab control?

The Scale Object with Panel option works very well for simple UI
objects.  I like to use it for VIs that display tables or
multicolumn listboxes, etc.  I am finding a limitation when I use
the Tab control.  If I have a table or listbox in each tab, I
would like them to scale with the panel.  I would also like the
tab to scale.  It should look like an Excel workbook where all
sheets scale with the window even though they are each on their own
tab.  If I could only Group the various tables / lists with the
    Tab itself....
This wouldn't be such an issue if the Bounds property of the
multicolumn listbox was writable.  I can set the number of rows
and columns, but column size can be variable and not uniform across all
columns.  Also, that solution looks and behaves much different
from the Scale Object with Panel approach.... not to mention the extra
    coding required.
I'm guessing that this amounts to a feature request, but if anyone has a present-version workaround, I'd love to hear about it.
    See you at NI Week!

    Hi Kalin T,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I am running version 8.01. My problem is that i cannot select "Scale object with pane" for the controls inside a Tab control if the Tab control "Scale object with pane" is turned on. I want both the Tab control and the controls inside to be scaled, for instance an Waveform graph or an textbox  when i resize my main window.

    Hi all!
I've been realized that since the release of Solaris 8 up to now the XGL graphics library that is necessary to run programs with a 3D advanced functions (like CATIA V4) is no longer included!
Does anybody now where I can download this library for my Solaris 10? I've searched everywhere in sun.com and in Google but there's no trace of it.
There's also no trace of any Solaris release earlier to the 8th; I would be grateful if anyone could indicate me where can I get it if I can't download XGL...
    Thanks a lot!

  • What about my current PDF files?...

    Hi,
    A couple of questions:
    1. I've dozens of PDF books bought in O'reilly and Amazon book stores. Is there a way to dump my PDF files to my future iPad through iTunes or other apps?
    2. How the gift card works?... I mean, if the Apple store for iPad isn't available in Belgium; should I register an USA-Apple store account's in order to buy apps with my gift card?
    Thank you for your comments.

One more vote for Goodreader. I have it and have dumped about 50 ebooks and about the same number of manuals in Pdf format on the iPad. Display quality is excellent.
To use it, simply download and install the app from the app store, then when the iPad is connected to the system, launch iTunes, go to the apps tab, and scroll down to the window which indicates which apps can sync documents directly to the iPad. You can then click the 'add' button to navigate to the file on your system, or just drag and drop the file into the space in iTunes, and it will automatically sync to the iPad.
Goodreader can also handle other file types, including Word documents as long as they are not too long. Well worth .99c!

  • ICloud Drive, what about sharing contacts with my older iOS devices?

Hi folks, I have finally upgraded my Macbook Pro to Yosemite and my iPhone 5S to iOS 8 and Monday will be the promising iOS 8.1.
During the process I have been offered to also update my iCloud account to iCloud Drive.
Sounds cool and necessary to benefit from a few extra features however I still own and use a iPhone 3GS and another iPhone 4.
It's clear that with iCloud Drive I won't be able to share documents among those devices; I can live with that but what about my contacts, calendars and Safari bookmarks not to mention Photos and iTunes Match, would that be the end of it or would those later services still be shared among older and newer devices?
I can't see it clearly stated among iCloud Drive specs and now I am hesitating with the update..
    P

Hi randers4, your explanation convinced me and I have made the plunge and upgraded to iCloud Drive.
It works as you explained, all other services such as Safari Bookmarks, Reminders, Contacts and keep syncing data among them. Nice.
It will be interesting however, how custom folders and files, will share among different users.
Haven't found much documentation on that either but suspect the mechanism won't be as refined as in DropBox.
For instance: as far as I can see, I can't create/copy a link to one specific folder I have created but have to use either Mail, Messages, or one of the SocialMedia I have registered on the Mac.
But perhaps I should start a new topic on this
    Thanks and regards

What about upgrading apps on your IPhone? I can't do that from where I live w/o connecting directly to my laptop. With Apple's new Itunes page, I don't see how I can navigate successfully now to acheive the same result as before. Hmmm. I would appreciate some quick guidance. Thanks.

With iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar that used to show on previous versions of iTunes via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC. You can then select the Apps part of your iTunes library on that sidebar and on the right-hand side of iTunes click the Check For Updates button at the bottom to see if any of your apps have updates available. Then connect your phone and select it on the sidebar, and on the Apps tab on the right-hand side click the Sync button at the bottom of it to copy the updates over

My kids now each have an itouch, should we all have different apple ids even if I am paying for all itunes and app store purchases? what about icloud? I would like to share itunes and app purchases, but not necessarily photos...help please!

The recommended solution for most families is to share the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases, so you can share your purchases, but us different IDs for iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud.  With this arrangement, each person can automatically download purchases made on the shared ID (by turning this feature on in Settings>iTunes & App Stores), while keeping their FaceTime calls, text messages and iCloud data (including photo stream) separated.  There is no requirement that the ID you use for purchasing be the same as the ID you use for these other services.

  • I use to keep all my Mini DV Tapes WHAT now with AVCHD Format ?

I started shooting video way back in the seventies using tape and graduated to Mini DV in the nineties. NOW I have upgraded to a Panasonic TM700 AVCHD camera that records to flash memory.
I always kept my tapes as backups, never re-using them. Now with files on flash memory, how can I backup my unedited video shoots?
I am not keen on backing up to Hard Disks.

For shooternz, a specific example - nearly 10 years ago I got a 5 minute sequence of a pair of Wrybills mating in the Ashburton River near Lake Heron, using a lightweight tripod in a full-blown Nor'wester.  This was very shaky as gusts hit the camera, and the original edit was poor.  Better stabilisation software - Mercalli rather than the original Dynapel SteadyHand - has given me a greatly improved edit.

  • HT1349 i upgraded to yosemite last week, now my computer wont start. it stops at white screen with apple logo. what do i do?

i upgraded to yosemite last week, now my computer wont start. it stops at white screen with apple logo. what do i do?

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
To restart an unresponsive computer, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the power shuts off, then release, wait a few more seconds, and press it again briefly.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.” The article refers to starting up from a DVD, but the procedure in Recovery mode is the same. You don't need a DVD if you're running OS X 10.7 or later.
    b. If Step 1a fails because of disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to salvage some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external drive with OS X installed, start up from it. Otherwise, if you have Internet access, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external drive and install OS X on it. You'll use the Recovery installer, rather than downloading it from the App Store.
    c. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. You might be able to start up in safe mode even though you can't start up normally. Otherwise, start up from an external drive, or else use the technique in Step 1b, 1c, or 1d to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
    Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 4
If a desktop Mac hangs at a plain gray screen with a movable cursor, the keyboard may not be recognized. Press and hold the button on the side of an Apple wireless keyboard to make it discoverable. If need be, replace or recharge the batteries. If you're using a USB keyboard connected to a hub, connect it to a built-in port.
    Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
    Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 11. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
    Step 9
If the startup device is an aftermarket SSD, it may need a firmware update and/or a forced "garbage collection." Instructions for doing this with a Crucial-branded SSD were posted here. Some of those instructions may apply to other brands of SSD, but you should check with the vendor's tech support.
    Step 10
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 11
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 12
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 13
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. I got an iphone from Hong Kong which is locked one. Can anyone explain me what does a locked iphone means. How do I use it in India now, with my own sim card. How do I unlock it???

If your iPhone is locked to a wireless provider, only that wireless provider
can unlock it. Contact the wireless provider in Hong Kong to see if they
offer unlocking and if you qualify.
If your iPhone is locked to an AppleID that you do not know, return it for
a refund as it is useless. Only the person whose AppleID was used for
activation can remove the lock. There is no workaround for Activation Lock.
If neither of the above is what you are facing, provide more detail so someone
    may offer a solution.
