Hold the power button down for 10 seconds. It will power down your Mac. You can then start it up again and see if you can log in normally.

I was given an old macbook which I've slowly been making my own, however, when I tried signed into iCloud to get my calendar and contacts onto said macbook, all of the previous owner's data merged with mine. I lost all my phone numbers, gained all of his on both macbook & ipad and now I'm not entirely sure what to do. if I sign out of iCloud all his data disappears, my email address remains, but all phone numbers are lost. If I sign into iCloud, he apperas on my Ipad gain. I am confused and need help. Anyone..? Thanks in advance
LonglipYou can see if they might still be on your Mac, but just not in view by opening Contacts (Address Book), go to View>Groups to display your groups on the left sidebar, then seeing if they might be under On My Mac.
If they aren't, and they aren't in your iCloud account or any of your devices, you may be able to restore them from your iCloud backup (if you have one). Doing this is a bit tricky as you have to pull the internet connection to interrupt the restore process after the contacts are restored, then turn off iCloud contact syncing on the device, then reconnect the internet and finish the restore, delete the existing contacts from iCloud then turn on contacts syncing on the device again. Otherwise, when the restore process completes and your device reconnects to iCloud, the contacts in iCloud will overwrite the restored contacts on the device. If they are still on your Mac under On My Mac, you can select the contacts and save them to a vCard file by going to File>Export>Export vCard. Then email this file to yourself, open it on your iPad and tap the attachment to import them to iCloud. -
MacBook Pro keeps asking to sign into iCloud, iMessage, and FaceTime
My wife's MacBookPro11,3 keeps asking her to sign into iCloud, iMessage, and FaceTime, non of which she uses. She keeps clicking on cancel, but they just keep popping back up, one after the other. She is using OS 10.9.3. Any suggestions how to stop this non-stop cycle? We've tried re-starting the computer, but that didn't help. I didn't see anything in preferences that I could turn off. She has just moved the pop-up window over to the edge of the screen so she can keep using the computer. Thanks.
Do you mean logging in and out of the MacBook Pro, or in and out of iCloud, iMessage, and FaceTime? I will have her try logging in and out of the MacBook Pro.

Hi I do not want iTunes to open up automatically when I turn on my macbook pro. I tried going to System Preferences>Users and Groups>Login Items and then I took iTunes off the list but it still opens up automatically when I turn on my laptop. What should I do?

I cannot eject a CD from my MacBook Pro. I tried restarting the computer and holding down the mouse and restarting it to no avail. On Finder, nothing is showing up on the CD Drive. Any ideas on how I can eject it?

You need to either upgrade your OS or buy install an iWork 09 DVD. If you're using a Core 2 Duo or better Mac with at least 2GB of RAM, it's cheaper to buy 10.7 or 10.8 unless you'll also need to upgrade any other software such as Microsoft Office 2004; neither OS supports PowerPC applications. If you're using a Core Duo Mac, you must buy the iWork 09 DVD.

I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro, I am trying to run MW3 but it will not work without crashing a few minuets into the game. The general specs on my computer are a dual processor 2.53 ghz. 4 gb ram and a NVIDIA geforce 9400 (9600 is the alternate card).
Things to note:
I have been unable to update firmware on this computer for about a year now. Im not sure why.
I am running a bootleg copy of Windows XP on this computer, I would not like to spend $149 to get Windows 7 if possible.

Then, when you get an estimate about how much it would cost to get the machine completely repaired, ask about the Apple flat-rate repair pricing?
It's worth a shot - and with what you may save, you can put in the bank for a new MBP.

Maybe the wrong port or the wrong kind of memory card? You didn't say what version/year of Macbook Pro you have. Below is a photo of the newest one.

I am connected to wi-fi through TC connected to a specific router and is working perfectly and saving data through TM without any issues.
The TC version is 7.6.1 and am using OS 10.7.3
The router mode is on Bridge mode and router is connected to TC through USB cable, I suppose for internet access. My Mac is on wi-fi through TC
I have another location, much further, which recently have been installed with wi-fi through router that has WPA accessibiulity with password, 100% different than the current one.
Since, I will be most of my time in this new location, I wish to move my TC to this new location, and configure it in similar fashion like what I am having right now.
Naturally, I do not wish to lose any saved data on the TC.

jpmarkques post is a good start point, after folling his directions, you can try detect displays. Also try different rsolution and refresh rates.
Most of the projectors I have used support a 1024X768 res.
Youcan also try a pram reset if it still does not detect.
Leave theproctor connected and powered up, power down the MBP.
Power back up the MBP and hold the following keys before you hear the start up chime:
Option, command, P,R (no commas) continue to hold these keys till you hear the start up chime 2 times. -
