So slow iphone 3g

Have an iphone 3G approx 15 months old
Since downloading software 4.0.1 my phone is so so slow!
There is always a delay in anything I do with it!
Anyone help??

I have the same problem. Since I have updated to 4.0 with my iPhone 3G it is very slow. If you touch iCal you can wait up to 10 seconds until I see my appointments. I change to SMS - another 5-8 seconds. Sometimes more.
Has not been before. Of course, I have restarted the phone, but did not set back as new phone. When the sync with iCal works again, I will try... but at the moment iCal from Desktop overwrites all data on the iPhone

  • Slow iPhone / iTouch backup in iTunes?

Just a heads up here for other people who are experiencing really slow backups when they sync their iPhone or iPod Touch with iTunes of late.
After weeks of puzzling and painfully slow backups (2 hours+) and a trip to Apple I finally tracked the problem down to The Guardian news app. Basically, when you cache for offline reading, it creates 1000s of files and this slows the backup process of the sync right down. Delete the app, and your sync times magically restore to normal.
Hope that helps someone, and hopefully Guardian are working hard on a fix. (It doesn't afflict RSS apps...)

Wow! That totally solved my problem! I'd been trying to back up my iPhone for the entire morning (from 9:12 am to 11:20, it had only gotten through 20% of my iPhone and I simply got so frustrated I force quit iTunes and searched online for "slow iPhone backup" and found this post. Although I don't have the Guardian App, I went and deleted every single non-Apple App, and then reconnected my iPhone and was ASTONISHED to see my iPhone get backed up in less than 60 seconds!!! I'm not sure what was the offending App in my case, but clearly, it appears that when slow backups are a problem, Apps can most definitely be a cause...

  • Slow iPhone

Hey, my iPhone 3G 8gb is a bit glitchy and slow, is there anything I can do to make it faster?
    Thanks

I am running iOS 4.2.1 on my iPhone 3G - 16Gb and this slowness issue is really a nightmare.
The situation was a little better in september (after an awful summer) but the last version is getting things worse : not only do I have a very slow Iphone, but I also miss 50% of my calls (he iPhone is unable to reconnect to the network)and get application crashing without any reason very often (even the standard iPod one).

  • ITunes 9.2.1 iPad painfully slow, iPhone 4 fine

Ever since I updated to version 9.2.1 the backup time for my iPad is painfully slow.
I ran a backup on my iPhone4 and it took about 5 minutes for a full backup and sync. So I ran downstairs, grabbed an adult beverage from the fridge, started working on my mac mini. After 60 minutes I went to grab some info off the iPad and it's still backing up an hour later.
    System:
iPhone & iPad sync to a Windows 7 PC.
(Trust me if i could migrate without having to wipe my phone and iPad settings they would be on the mac mini)
I've rebooted my PC and iPad several times with no luck.
This has been running perfectly fine with iTunes 9.2.

  • Slow iPhone 3Gs with Airport Extreme WiFi

This seems to be a pretty well established issue as there are in-depth videos on YouTube demonstrating this phenomenon. In a nutshell, my network connection speed stinks on my new iPhone 3Gs when I'm connected to the internet via my Airport Extreme. It's most notable when trying to watch any videos using the phones YouTube app. Too slow downloading to make it worth using. Any known fixes out there? This IS NOT a jail-broke phone BTW, I am 100% legal with AT&T service. Running the latest version of SL and have the latest iPhone OS installed. Any help is appreciated!

You are Crazy Latino. You never had GPS capability with your original iPhone. Maps is using skyhook and cell tower triangulation to locate your position.
You can't say that you meant maps when you wrote GPS, and then roll your eyes when you do not accurately present your question and someone answers your original question...

  • If I replace a logic board on a slow iPhone, will it make it faster?

My iphone 5 is slow and I have restored it to factory setting, and it's still running very slow! What in the device itself can be replaced that would make it run like a new Iphone 5.

  • Reset slow iPhone 5 and now I've lost my contacts. Help!!

I have an iPhone 5 which started running inexplicabley slow. I closed all open programs but still if I twisted my phone and the app tried to rotate from portrait to lanscape the screen image would freeze at about 20 degree angle instead of just twisting 90.
I reset the phone (presssed Home button/on/off button) and it started back up. I've now lost all my contacts.
I've not backed up to iCloud for a long while because it said the storage was full and I didn't have money to invest in more space. But once in a while I back up to my PC.
I just plugged my phone into my PC, got distracted and noticed it had auto synced - I'm hoping that's not wiped my contacts!!! I'm too nervous to try anything right now.
What are my options? I'd rather not restore an entire backup (if I still have that option) as I have chats in messenger apps I need to keep and photos too (which are still present). I really just want to restore my contacts ONLY - nothing else - is this possible now?
    Can anyone help?

I beleive they were synced with iCloud before I ran out of storage I then backup to my PC periodically.
My contacts switch is off, I have now slid this across and no contacts have come back. Is there any other steps necessary for me to take? Switch my phone off or reset again?
    Thanks for your assistance!

  • Very slow iPhone 5s, please help

Why are my Iphone 5s so slow after the new update(ios 7.1.1) ? coming soon a new update ?

My iPhone 5s is not slow, and there's no official announcement about IOS update.
What troubleshooting steps have you taken?

  • Slow iPhone G3

Oh dear, my iPhone G3 seems to be so slow when reacting to commands - three, four, five seconds.
Does anybody else have this problem ? Does anybody know what is causing it ? Is it just me ? I mean, I wouldn't want to speculate that there is a glitch with the 2.0 software - because this post would be removed for such insidious, undermining, 5th column talk.....
And I wonder if that nice Mr Jobs is coming up with a solution ?
So, I would be interested to know if anybody has an suggestions about this. Perhaps a word from the moderator of this discussion as to an explanation, fix for this problem ?
(There you are, Mr Moderator - surely that post is innocuous enough to pass the censor ?)

I have the old iPhone. I upgraded to 2.1 a couple days ago and I have many more issues.
The keypad is slow (sometimes 2,3,4 secs).
It freeezes. It just froze when I tried to answer a call, prompting me to search this forum.
It seems the old processor simply was not built to handle the 2.0 platform.
How can I regress my iPhone back to 1.4.1????

  • Slow iPhone 4S speeds on Home Fusion Broadband

I've been using Home Fusion for about 4 weeks now and it's been great.  However, I'm been experiencing a slow experience connected to the Home Fusion service over it's WIFI to my iPhone 4S.  I typically receive about a 200 MS ping and 1-2 Mbps download and a 4 Mbps upload rate when checked on the Speedtest app.  The down/up speeds don't bother me as much as the lengthy ping times.  Is anyone seeing this issue?
The lengthy pings are causing slower downloads and a slower overall experience on the iPhone.
My other devices such as computers, iPad and Xbox connect fine with blazing speeds.  I've also performed that test over a couple weeks with the same result.
    Thanks.

I usually get this if I have at least 3 bars.
Is that on 3G or wifi? I don't have an iPhone yet but hoping to get the 4S soon, but I understand they can get either wifi or 3G & that wifi would likely be faster. I assume it would have a little icon telling which it is, sort of like I get either 3G or sometimes (including in the local Verizon store) 1X.  Of course I guess if its wifi, it would depend on how fast that connection was. My home cable is usually just above 1mbps so I presume if I get wifi at home with the iPhone 4S it wouldn't be any faster & maybe somewhat slower than that.

  • Slow iPhone - normal?

    Hey everyone,
I've had an iPhone 3G since its release, and I feel like over the last handful of months I've noticed a lot of slowness with it. Apps (or even the text screen or settings screen) take a long time to load, typing text is EXTREMELY laggy, zooming in on maps takes forever, etc.
I have restored the phone many times (at least every time there is a software update), and usually this increases speed dramatically at first. But a few days later, it's back to its old slow self.
I just wondered, is this typical of the 3G? I'm fine with it if I just have to accept it, but I wondered if I maybe ought to make an appointment at the Genius Bar.
    Please advise,
    - DB

In our experience certain Apps tend to leave a legacy that impacts performance adversely.
The good news is that it's easily solved by doing a 'reset' every so often when things are observably 'odd' in some way....
Just press and hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release both and wait.... (You've done 'restores' so sorry if that's 'sucking eggs' for you!)
    Good luck!

  • Slow iphone 3GS

Slow, stuttering operation. Eversince I updated the software from version 3......the usage of the phone is annoyingly slow and stuttering and sometimes just resets itself on it own. IOS 5 has made it may be a little worse.
Is it a case of I need a newer Iphone to solve it or is thee something wrong with my phone that needs fixing.

My wife's 3GS has iOS5 on it and runs fine.
Might be worth restoring it as a new phone rather than from a backup.
