So what gets installed where?
I'm looking forward to installing the new ODAC and Developer tools. But what gets installed where?
1) I assume the developer will need the Developer Tools plus ODAC on his client machine. My developers use both Oracle Express databases and Oracle EE databases on Unix servers. Do they need a separate Oracle Home for the Oracle Express client? Is it instaled in the Oracle Home for the Oracle Express database itself or it's own home?
2) What, if anything gets installed on the Biztalk server? Plain Oracle client or Oracle Client plus ODAC?
3) My Windows machines have ASO-enabled clients already. Should the ODAC be installed there if I want to connect to ASO-enabled databases?
4) Is anything required for the user of the application other than the .Net runtime?
So many questions.. So ignorant..
ODAC stands for Oracle Data Access Components and Oracle Developer Tools is one of the components. The install lists all the components and you can choose one or more from the list.
Developer would have to install the appropriate components from the ODAC install. ODAC install is available only for Windows platforms so these components cannot be installed on Unix servers. ODAC install also cannot be used to install components in Oracle Express Home. You can install ODAC components in an existing Oracle 10gR2 Home or in a new Oracle Home.
You need ODP.NET runtime in addition to .NET runtime to run ODP.NET applications. ODP.NET runtime is nothing but ODP.NET component in the ODAC install.

What Gets Installed Where in Logic 8?
Hi.
Is there any way to find out which files get installed and their locations? I have to re-install Logic 8 on a reformatted computer (running Tiger -- it's an old G4) and the installation quits during the 1st Jam Pack disk, saying to try again. Over and over the same thing happens. So I thought I might be able to copy files from another computer where Logic is installed and works perfectly.
Logic 8 used to work on this computer before I had to do the reformatting.

I think the minimum Install is around 6,9 Gigs for LP, STP, Mainstage and Compressor including the Application Support/AU-components/Channel Stripsettings/EXS patches/Space Designer stuff and so on. This has to live on the system dive and you should install it using the Installer disk.
The Jam Packs 1-5 plus the Apple Loops (around 26 Gigs) can be copied from drive to drive, the only problem there is that you will have to reindex the Library so that Logic knows where to find it's content. After installation just drag the Jam Packs and Loop folders from the external drive into the Library on the right of the Arrange, Logic will then reindex everything and you're ready to go. -
What Gets Installed in the Apt?
I'm getting FiOS TV and Internet installed on Wednesday. The little video shown in "Getting Started" wasn't exactly clear to me. It looks like most items are installed in the basement/common area of the building. What actually gets installed within the apartment itself? Is it just a router and a set top box for cable?

Microduct is installed to each unit. In this case, an ONT is installed in your unit.
If it's not feasible to install microduct, then a shared ONT is installed in a common area and existing phone and coax is used. In this case, your WAN connection is provided using VDSL.
Without knowing if microduct is installed, it's impossible to tell which type of installation you will have. -
What files get installed where when I install LabVIEW run-time?
Hey all,
I am unable to run any installer on my current computer. As a possible solution, could I run the installer on another machine, save the installed files to a USB drive, and then move them to the respective locations on my current computer without running an installer?
If this is possible, what specific files should I look for regarding the LabVIEW Runtime, and in what locations should I put them?

As ramses64 said, this process is practically impossible. The installer even for just the runtime engine of LabVIEW does a bit more than just copying files/executables to certain locations. That being said, it will undoubtedly be far easier to solve the problem you are experiencing with installing the software on the first system. Can you please elaborate as to what is happening? Are you seeing any errors? Are there codes associated? At what point do you see these errors? The more details you can provide, the better we will be able to provide advice with the matter.

Saving iChat IMs - what gets saved & where?
I was looking for information that I received in an IM this past week and when I went to look for the saved IMs - I could only find a few. I thought all IMs saved as default, or are only ones that I initiated saved? Or maybe I am looking in the wrong place. I found the random saved messages in user>myname>documents>iChats. I IM to several family members each day, so should have a huge folder of saved IMs!

I used to try with ichat 2 and iChat 3 and can not remember if I have tried it with iChat 4
It may be a change within the Application's software.
After some random testing I found I can pull my own pictures for 2004 iChats and at least one I found as an incoming pic from around the same time.
I also tried some that were marked as File downloads in the chats and they seem to be stored in /Private/Var somewhere. (it's a support sort of folder that is Hidden normally)
I shall remember this. Thanks for the heads up.

Installing the update to InDesign CC 2014 it only gets to where it says "Finishing," hung up at this point for a week or more. What now? In the CC Activity Stream it is not listed as a program I have updated, so I am sure it did not finish. If it is stable as is I do not have to upgrade at this point -- just started an important project and stability is my biggest concern. But I do want to know how to complete installing this upgrade.

I am trying to install final cut studio on my computer. I get to where it asks me to insert audio disc 2 and it fails.How do I continue to install?
What I've done to get around the problem of quircky DVD readers is to create a disk image of each of the installation discs and store them on an external firewire drive. When I need to install/reinstall, I open the images and put them all on my desktop then launch the installer from disk 1. Since all the disks are available, the installation happens without any intervention from me and is done within 30-45 minutes. (your time may vary depending upon computer variables)

A Google search can reveal a variety of alternatives on how the remove the trojan should your computer get infected. This can get you started. Or the preferred method is to use Apple's protection tool: Flashback Malware Removal Tool 1.0.
Or, open Software Update. If you do not have the Apple protection software installed it will download and install it via Software Update. If no update appears that means you either already have it installed or it isn't needed for your system. The software is only available for Leopard, Snow Leopard, and Lion versions of OS X.

What happens to the apps' data, if they were restored to a new device, but apps never get installed?
This is a super easy scanario.
Say in my old phone I have totally 50 apps, 30 purchased under Appel ID (A), and another 20 purchased under a different Apple ID, (B).
The old device is iOS5 and I turned on iCloud backup and back up everything (data of all apps).
I get a new device, restore from iCloud, wait until everything (photo, messages, settings, most importantly, data of all 50 apps) are restoed to the new phone.
The first thing happen after the first reboot, and it will prompt me to log on my Apple ID, to install apps.
What if, at this moment I decied to only sign on with Apple ID (A), and just don't want to use all 20 apps that I purchased under Apple ID (B) anymore?
Is the data of those 20 apps become leftover / orphane on my new phone, and just no way to clean them up? Please notice again, that I did not say "install app and then delete", I know that will clean up the data as well. I mean when data is copied over but app never get installed.Game settings and other data is part of the backup:

I purchased lion osx 10.7 and it just says "installing" where you click to "buy it now" and it has been doing nothing for the past 2 hours. There is no progress bar or anything that says its being downloaded. I was sent an email by apple confirming I purchased it but nothing is happening. I tried restarting the internet and clicking on download and the same thing happens. What is going on?
Mine says it's going to take 10 hiurs to download or something daft. I'm guessing the servers are being hit pretty hard right now. Like the poster above said, check in the 'purchased' part of the app store to make sure it's actually ticking along and then just...wait.

I have purchased Acrobat from the Cloud and downloaded and installed it. I received an order number but no serial number and cannot get it to finish installing Where do I get the serial number!?!
Like most online purchases you would normally receive the order number before the order is processed so you should be patient and allow some time for the processing to happen. If you feel you have waited long enough then you should contact Adobe Support directly and try to get information on your order since you now have a reference for it that you can share with them.
