So what's really new in iTunes Match 10.52?

10.52 was released today, and I've installed it.  I was hoping it would deal better with a bunch of albums I've imported where it can match some of the songs, but not all of them.  I actually logged it, and will put it in another post.   But my initial tests don't show any differences.
So what actually IS different in iTunes Match 10.52?   As someone who uses this, I'd like to know.

Eric is correct. The link is to a page that shows what's new in 10.52, The very first paragraph states:
About iTunes 10.5.2
iTunes 10.5.2 includes several improvements for iTunes Match and fixes an audio distortion problem when playing or importing certain CDs.

Good question. The standard document is still mentioning MobileMe, rather than iCloud.

Yes, folks have gotten refunds even though the TOS says all sales are final. You'll need to contact iTunes Store support and politely make your case that you're just not satisfied with the service.
I've got kind of a radical suggestion, if you want to try it. In cases like you describe a full OS restore, then setting the iPhone up as a new device can fix all these little glitches. It is a lot of trouble, I know, but if you do want to use the service this is one method that should clear it all up for you.
Thank you, it's good to know that Apple does offer refunds.  I want it to work, if it does what I would like the $25 would be more than worth it.
I thought clearing my music and starting up iTunes Match with an empty music library might do the equivalent of a full reset... I can't say I really feel like doing that, and I'm skeptical it would clear up all of the issues I've had (play counts, play lists, album art, data usage when I told it to bloody well not use the data).
    Thanks for the input!

  • New to iTunes Match

How do I know for sure my songs really stored on the iTunes Match I just subscribed to so I can delete the songs off of my iPhone so I can free up space?

    Hi,
Once iTunes Match has completed its scan of your iTunes library on your computer, you go to song view and add iCloud status column. To do this, go to menu > view > view options and tick box. This will tell you what has been matched, purchased and uploaded. If status is waiting the tracks are not yet in the cloud. It will also tell you what are duplicate or ineligible.

  • What is so new about iTunes 7.1?

I am the first to admit that technically challenged is not even a fair assessment about my electronic difficiencies, but I cannot figure out what the difference is between iTunes 7.0 and the new 7.1. Could someone please assist my obvious inability to grasp this concept? Thanks in advance.

there was some useful information in the readme "About iTunes" this time. in terms of new features and a bunch of the major changes, it says:
Using iTunes 7.1, you can now enjoy your favorite iTunes movies, TV shows, music, and more from the comfort of your living room with Apple TV. iTunes 7.1 also supports a new full screen Cover Flow and improved sorting options to let you decide how iTunes should sort your favorite artists, albums, and songs.
iTunes 7.1 addresses a number of compatibility issues with Windows Vista.
there's a new version of the CD driver .dll (2.0.6.2 rather than 2.0.6.1). not sure if that's all Vista related, or if it helps with some XP and 2000 issues too.
new version of QuickTime in there: 7.1.5 rather than 7.1.3. some security improvements came with that. see:
    Apple security updates
... i also keep an eye on the following page:

if the past is any guide, some other info on bug fixes and new features will trickle through there (in the form of new/modified articles) over the next couple of weeks or so.

  • HT1420 how do I know what devices have home sharing/iTunes Match. I don't think I have 5 computers setup, but the system says I do.

I like to know what devices I have on home sharing and iTunes Match. Also, how do I increase may access to more than 5 devices if needed?
    Thanks

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click on the version twice, append the last three digits of the computer's serial number to http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords= , load the page, and check the computer's maximum OS version. If that's the current version, click here and read the entire page. If not, you can't use the Mac App Store version.

  • Just Wondering, What's Really New?

I installed Mountain Lion this afternoon with no problems at all. The speed has come back to what I remember from my Snow Leopard days and all my software works fine. That is great! Another smooth and reliable upgrade.
But really, what else is new? Yeah, they split out the reminders and todo lists. But other than that (somewhat trivial), I just don't see much else that is different from Lion! OK, the increase speed is well worth the $20. Is there anything else substantial for those of us who are running an older 2009 machine? Seems like the iOS updates for my iPad and Touch pack in more obvious changes.
    Just wondering...

  • What is the deal with iTunes matching Explicit tracks with Clean tracks?

At first, I thought this was great. I started matching all of my music with iTunes versions. Got about halfway through, and realized some songs on some albums were explicit, and others were clean. At first, I thought it was cause there was only a Clean Version of the album available on iTunes, so I resolved that problem, just don't match albums that there isn't an Explicit version for. But for example, Lil' Wayne's Tha Carter 3, the version I have had 23 songs. iTunes didn't have the Target bonus tracks, as I expected, so I didn't worry about those, and matched the rest. Songs like A Milli is explicit like it's suppose to be, but on the same album, Mrs. Officer is Clean. I don't understand how that's possible, I figure it would match a full album, but that doesn't seem to be the case. So because of that, some of these albums I've matched so far may not be matched as full albums, but rather whatever version of the songs iTunes first matches, so the mastering for a full album could be completely different all over the album because of this.
Anyone know any kind of fix for this, or is this not something that could be fixed?

Interesting tid bit.  I created an AAC of the original file, deleted the original MP3 from my library and also deleted the Clean matched track from the icloud.
Result is that it matched with the explicit version of Mrs. Officer this time.
What I am curious about is which songs this is happening for. I've went thru a few batched of about 500 songs at a time and redownloaded in 256k for many tracks. Sadly we don't have people to bring this to our attention and I have so much music that it's impossible to go thru every song to make sure I am getting the right version.

  • What is really new in JSC2 Update 1?

Are there any enhancements made to update 1 except DB change, new version of application server bundled and all the hot fixes and patches included witch were already available to JSC2.

I assume nothing. Updates do not imply new features, do they? If there were a lot of new features it would be called Creator 3, not Creator 2 Update 1, I guess.
So, if improved stability and performance is not important....

  • ITunes Match account when moving from France to USA.

    Hi guys,
I'm moving from France to California for work in a few month. I have a french iTunes account / iTunes Match account.
I was wondering how to transfert them as a US account (for iTunes account I'm pretty sure it's easy, but I don't really know for iTunes Match Account).
Thanks for you help and Hayppy New year

You cannot transfer iTunes Store accounts across stores. If you will wish to use the US store you will have to switch over completely and start using that store. iTunes Match will have to be canceled and re-subscribed if you switch stores. • My work computer won't access songs from iTunes Match

Here's what happened: I started using iTunes Match about a month ago. I had a 7500+ song library on my Hewlett Packard Windows 7 64bit laptop. I did the matching process and about 3000 songs were unmatched. Match started to upload them and it took forever (I have a slow internet connection at home), so I took a hint from a poster at Apple Support and copied my library to a portable disk which I brought to my office. I tried to get the iTunes on my work computer to recognize the library on the portable disk, but couldn't do it, so I copied the whole library to my hard drive at work, reinstalled iTunes, and it recognized the new library. It then uploaded all my songs in an hour or two.
Then, I decided I didn't want my whole library to be taking up tens of GB of space on my office computer, so I deleted the music portion of the iTunes Media folder--I figured, it will all be available via streaming from iTunes Match, right? Well, it wasn't. Now when I log onto iTunes, all but a very small number of songs are unavailable: they are listed as being in the Library, but when I click on them to stream them, I get the error message "The song "x" could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" If I click "Yes", I am taken to the local music library on the work computer, which contains next to nothing.
I have deleted and re-installed iTunes. No help. I have turned off Match and turned it back on. No help. I have updated Match. Nothing.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong and how to get my work computer iTunes to stream my Match results?

Figured it out! All you have to do is select all songs (from the Edit menu), right click on them and "delete" them. You won't actually delete them, they're still there in the cloud, but now the little download cloud symbol appears and I can stream all my music at work.
One warning--if the cloud download symbol is already there, don't delete the song. Just go through after selecting the songs and de-select any song with a cloud symbol next to it, otherwise it will be deleted from the cloud, too.
I figured this out all on my own with no help from Apple. Typical.

  • ITunes Match Uploads Keep Stopping

Looks like a couple of peole have posted on this, but I haven't seen any advice yet.  My Step 3 - Uploading Artwork and Remaining Songs - keeps stopping.  I get maybe 5-10 items uploaded, then the progress stops.  Still get the progress wheel spinning, etc, but no more items get uploaded.  I've started and stopped the process multiple times, restarted my computer, etc.  Saw one recommendation suggesting that there might be an odd track that hangs up the system.  That doesn't seem to be my case - I get about a dozen items uploaded, then the progress stops.  I Stop and Start, then get a few more uploaded.
Very frustrating and disappointing.  Really seems like Apple rolled iTunes Match out before things were ready.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very exicted about the iTunes Match service and think it is a fantastic idea!  I just wish more of the bugs and issues would have been ironed out before release.  I am a huge Apple fan and user because, normally, everything 'Just Works'.
I understand about bandwidth limitations - again, my problems stem from having to start and stop the upload process dozens of times because the process would stop/hang up, despite my rebooting, Option-Clicking, etc.  My iTunes library isn't large - just under 10,000 songs.  After matching, I had to upload approximately 1700 songs.  I limited or turned off all other internet/wireless activity while uploading.
The purpose of my posting about this issue is 1) to hopefully find a fix, and 2) to give Apple some feedback about what is going on with iTunes Match.
By the way, I finally completed my upload.  Now that my library is uploaded, hopefully adding additional CDs/tracks here and there won't be much of a problem.  And I'm really looking forward to using this!
I've seen this mentioned on other tthreads, but I don't want a refund - just wish Apple would have ironed things out a bit better before releasing.  Someone mentioned that iTunes Match is still considered in Beta - I don't recall reading that anywhere, and hope that is not true.  What has distinguished Apple from the rest of the pack is that they've had the discipline to hold off on releasing products and services until they were working smoothly, and not using their customer base as an extended testing phase.  Just hoping this experience was just an anomoly, and not an indication of things to come.
