SO7 installation problem patch 5

Hello,
I try to apply the patch so-7-pp5-bin-linux.bin on a serverinstallation, but the installation fail. (OS : suse 9.2 glibc 2.3.3)
I do:
./so-7-pp5-bin-linux.bin -patch [path to network installation] --> I see a message in a window for a very short time, to short for reading. No other error message. If I start SO7 I cant see any patch information.
Next I do:
./so-7-pp5-bin-linux.bin -patch [path to network installation] -v -debug --> A window pop up with "INSTALL_INFO flag is missing ExitCode 9".
What does it mean?
BeforeI have patch no. 4 installed with no problem. On my second computer with Debian OS I have no problem to install patch no. 5
Next I do: Remove SO7 competely and install again. The same problem, but now I cant install an earlier patch again too.
I removed an unused earlier installation of OpenOffie also and install SO7 completly again. Nothing. I cant install any patch
What can I do?
Regards
Udo

This will probably not be much help; SO7 was unstable when installed on a system with glibc 2.3.1 (Libranet 2.8 Debian). The applications would start but would shut down after a few keystrokes. When patch #5 arrived, I installed it and noted that the instability problem was gone.
I am now wondering if the compiler used for the patch 5, which now apparently has backward compatibility with an older glibc version may be incompatible with the version used in SuSE.
NB I have reported separately another strange incompatibility with SO8 and KDE 3.2.x. SO8 segfaults under KDE but runs perfectly under other windows managers on the same system. I have reported this to Sun/SO and am awaiting a response.

    Gavin,
This looks like a known problem with TTA 4.00.903 and some Solaris
patches which were distributed at about the same time. However, you say
you're using 4.10.903, and as far as I know the problem should be fixed
    in that version.
You could try the workaround described in
    http://www.tarantella.com/documentation/sgd/ee/4.0/install.html - search
for "tta_pkgadd" on that page and follow the instructions given there.

I ran dbstart as oracle805 (installation account), but I have no

  • Installation problems in MSCS ORACLE 10.2 ECC 6.00

I am writing to report some unexpected installation problems. I am installing SAP ECC 6.00 in a MSCS cluster environment (Windows 2003 / Oracle 10.2) in our production environment and I am having problems during the installing the central instance phase. The sapinst_dev shows the following error: “CJS-30102  Checking the database for installation type failed”, Also the jsourcecheck.log shows  the following error: “com. sap. engine. frame. core. configuration. Configuration Exception: Error while connecting to DB” and  “java. sql. SQLException: Excepción de E/S: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection     at oracle. jdbc.driver.  DatabaseError. throwSqlException (DatabaseError.java:112)”
The database is currently running without any problem and all the services (SAP and Oracle) as well.
Following the installation guide, I performed the almost all the steps successfully:
    •     Oracle RDBMS, patches and Oracle fail safe software on both nodes (successfully)
    •     Install the central services instance for ABAP (ASCS) on the first MSCS node (successfully)
    •     Install the central services instance (SCS) on the first MSCS node (successfully)
    •     Cluster the first MSCS node (successfully)
    •     Install the database instance on the first MSCS node (successfully)
    •     Cluster the additional MSCS node (successfully)
    •     Install an enqueue replication server(successfully)
    •     Perform additional steps for the Oracle Fail Safe configuration (successfully)
    •     Create the Oracle Fail Safe group (successfully)
    •     Set up as shared database directory in your Oracle Home (successfully)
    •     Add the Oracle database resource to the Fail Safe group (successfully)
    •     install the central instance (Failed)
    •     install at least one dialog instance (not installed yet)
As you can observe, I have performed the create oracle fail safe group activity first and then the install the central instance later. Reading the sap note 967121 today, I just realized that there is a wrong installation sequence; the sap note 967121 (actualized date: 17/OCT/07 ) says that “you must install the central instance before you create the Oracle Fail Safe group”.  Is this sequence compulsory? Or can I continue the installation process?
If this sequence is compulsory do I have to reinstall all the predecessor activities or should I undo just the create oracle fail safe group activity?
Please let me know if the error which is showed in the installation of the central instance phase is because the wrong sequence or it is due to another reason.

We have performed the mapping of the host names to the IP addresses on the windows host file already.
I would be very grateful if someone kindly can help me to solve this problem.
    Best Regards
    Boris Romero

    Hello Boris,
one of the main problems is that step
"Create the Oracle Fail Safe group (successfully)"
cannot be successful because you need to run configtool and change the secure store as described in installation guide. At this stage the configtool does not exists (documentation error for ECC6.0 guide), so the correct sequence is to install CI and cluster the DB, but not vice versa.
Which stage is the sapinst braking up?
Is this beginning, middle or end of installation?
Did you try to run configtool and modify secure store?

    Hi
Problems to get 'drivers'/'driver updates' installed for your Li've! or other SB models on XP or W2k system?
If ctzapxx.exe method didn't work either for you, have you tried 'forced' driver installation yet? If not here is what you can do.
NOTE: THIS METHOD DOES NOT WORK W/ ALL DRIVER PACKAGES, BECAUSE OF THE USED INSTALLER IS NOT THE SAME (ctcomp.dat is not available on those)
    . download [url="http://members.aol.com/dvdking200/Pub/ctcomp.exe">this utility[/url]
    2. download driver package (or installation ISO/rip) you want to install and extract it to your HD (you can also install Audigy X drivers for your Li've! card if you like)
    3. run ctcomp.exe and point it to look from
    - ..\Audio\Setup -folder, found as a subfolder in folder you extracted the ISO/rip
    - 'main folder' (for. ex. AUD_EAX4DRV_0303) when you're installing driver update (data.cab must exist on that folder)
    4. press Patch button
    5. install your drivers by running setup.exe located
    - at same ..\Audio\Setup -folder when setting up from extracted ISO
    - at 'main' folder when you're installing driver update

The reason i said this should be a sticky is that these boards move so fast that its impossiable for new comers to keep up with threads that have AWESOME tips that may or may not help but how many of us have accually gone through every post in the last 60 days to try and find a fix? I know I have not, but in the end you need to try everything you can.
Something like this is not on the Creative FAQ data base so the only people to know about this possiable fix are the few who catch it in time.
In my experience there is ALWAYS more than way to do things and 0 ways to get it to work with 20 other methods to run it. Thats a lot of ways to do the one thing. So unless we have a huge data base with every possiable fix, method or forceiable way to do something then more and more people will get really upset that Creative offer no help.
Take the way Creative say to un-install drivers, man, this for the most part never works, so something like this may be the only way to get it to work for some people.
What I do is though, I copy a thread like this one and will pass it on to others if need be. Ofcause with all credit to the original poster and I never pass it off as my fix and/work.
I I like to cover every possiable aspect to do something. Ya know what i mean

I tried several times to install again from the very beginning.

When you say that you choose the default installation directory and then the installer complained about Pointbase, what platform where you using? Had you already attempted installs in the past or uninstallations that did not complete properly?
For your second issue, did you happen to change the host name of your machine? Try cranking up the log level (edit server.xml) to see what's causing the instances to fail on startup. Did the application ever start up after install? What things did you do just prior to the server exhibiting this behaviour?

  • Problems patching VirtualBox s10x_u8 BE

    Hi,
I'm having problems patching a VirtualBox Solaris 10 x86 environment with the latest patch cluster from December.
I've unloaded the zip file in /var/tmp and attempted to apply-prereq to the current BE prior to the ABE. This fails during the checkinstall process for 119255-71 (patching of patchadd etc). These are the first patches applied to this s10x_u8 install - the only additional pkg is SUNWvboxguest.
    It reports:
    /var/tmp/10_x86_Recommended/patches/119255-71/SUNWinstall-patch-utils-root/install/checkinstall: /var/tmp/10_x86_Recommended/patches/119255-71/SUNWinstall-patch-utils-root/install/checkinstall: cannot open
pkgadd: ERROR: checkinstall script did not complete successfully
I've tried applying this patch outside 'installcluster' using patchadd and the same issue is reported.
I cannot see anything obvious in any of the 'readme's and checked a number of solutions regarding loopback filesystems etc.
Are there any further methods of debugging this issue and does anyone know why this patchadd is not working?

  • Installation Problem on iTunes 6.0.1.3 - HpSdpAppCoreApp

    Help!
I'm trying to install the new iTunes 6.0 and I'm getting a message during installation that says
    HpSdpAppCoreApp
"The feature you are trying to use in on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternative pathway to a folder containing the installation package "HpSdpAppCoreApp.msi" in the box below."
The last time I dug through some files on my own, bad things happened.
    Thanks,
    C

    good gracious, Chris ...
okay, try applying the general advice on installation problems given here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
... and the InstallShield Tips and Pointers are also helpful with these less-well-documented errors:

  • Installation problem on SUSE 12.1

    Hi
I'm a Linux beginner and I am trying to install LV on SUSE 12.1
I've also posted my problems on Lava:
    http://lavag.org/topic/15240-labview-installation-problem-on-suse-121/
The installation started and it looks quite all right, but when I try to start LabVIEW, the application just sits in the taskbar for about 20 seconds and then just disappears.
     Any ideas?
Is there a way to debug to see what's going on?
    Cheers,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Unfortunately, there are no versions of LabVIEW supported on SUSE 12.1 at present. Here's a link to LabVIEW version compatibility with different Linux distributions. I saw from your other forum that you're attempting to install LabVIEW 2009, which is certified for SUSE 11.0 at the latest.

  • Installation Problem on Win8

    Hello all
I need your help for troubleshooting an installation problem on a Win8 (x64) client. There is already JavaJRE installed, but we wanted to install some other versions, too. But it didn't work. So we tried to unistall to curently version. This was running badly. Now there entry is removed from windows software, but the software is still on the system. Always if we try to install any java, we get a failure message with no error discription. So we looked for some installation logs, but I can't find the problem. Can you have a look? What can I do?
Thank you guys for your support.

  • Xp_logininfo Installation problem

    Hello gurus,
I'm facing the same problem as described in this link:
Re: xp_logininfo "Installation problem on windows 2003 with Sql 2005"
the error I get is similiar:
<i>The below message comes from executing the command master..xp_logininfo '<domain>\<user> ' Msg 15404, Level 16, State 11, Procedure xp_logininfo, Line 62 Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user '<domain>\<user> ', error code 0x534. The statement has been terminated</i>
but I just don't get how to solve it.
-I've tried to use the profiler but didn't find any information that will help me to solve.
-One of the guys wrote to add "logon rights" to the user ... what does it mean ?
    Please advice,
    Dimitry Haritonov

    Hi sven,
Thank you very much for the quick and direct answer.
The problem was that the user that runs the SQL SERVER service didn't have authorization to retrieve information from active directory.
I've changed the service user, run the sapinst again, and after it succeeded I've returned the previous user.
    Best regards,
    Dimitry Haritonov
