Soa_server1-diagnostic.log missing

Hi,
Using SOA 11.1.1.5. I don't see soa_server1-diagnostic.log inside SOA_DOMAIN/servers/soa_server1/logs directory. I restarted the servers but still if does not create a soa_server1-diagnostic.log file as I accidentally deleted it but was hoping it should create it which is not. Any idea on how to get soa_server1 to create and start writing to soa_server1-diagnostic.log
Thanks

Hi,
It will be created automatically, try and go to EM and test a composite.
Cheers,
Vlad

  • SOA Server Diagnostic log files Archive Directory

    Hello all,
    we know that the soa server logs would be there under servers/soa_server1/logs/
    So, as the file size grows i mean the soa_server1-diagnostic.log, they should be kept somewhere in the archive right...so where should i set the directory for archive files...and how to set the size of the archive files...can anyone please tell me how to do this...may be a documentation on that would be very helpful for me...
    Thanks,

    Hi Naresh,
    If i understand correctly u want to rotate the log files based on size in soa 11g.
    If so, log into EM console. Right click on soa-infra->Logs ->Log configuration.
    Select the Log Files tab. Choose odl-handler and edit the configuration. You can fix the rotation of log files based on size as well as time.
    The log path would be $user_projects/domains/domain_name/servers/soa_server1/logs/soa_server1-diagnostic.log.
    Hope this helps u

    Anybody have any clue where is the issue and what is the fix required. Thanks for all your help.

    Hi,
    It seems there are some sort of communication laps try to enable Http tunneling on there for every individual server.
    You will find them under following option.
    Server >> <server name > >> Protocol >> General
    There you will find check box enable Tunneling.

  • Help using Oracle Diagnostic Logging (LoggingContext)

    Hi,
    We are developing a new Product from scratch and have decided to use as much as we can from Oracle Libraries. Currently we are using Oracle Diagnostic Logging (ODL) for logging in our application, having a wrapper on top of it, which will make our product as well in-line with other oracle product logging.
    We have requirements to log based on LoggingContext as in Log4j's Mapped/Nested Diagnostic Context. I believe we can do the same using oracle.core.ojdl.logging.context.LoggingContext but can't find more information on how to use it.
    Can anybody provide examples or links to learn, understand and implement using LoggingContext in ODL?

    ODL generates log files in XML format only. Using ODL you can not have plain text format log files. You have to decide what is more desired - log rotation (that ODL provides) or text format (which is the default, non-ODL, format). If text format is more desired than don't enable ODL and write your own shell script to rotate application log (but that can only be done while OC4J is down).
    At the same time if you are concern about readability of log file (i.e. text format is easier to read vs. xml format) than you might consider using one the log viewer tool (log viewer in EM or printlogs command line) provided by Oracle. Both of these tools help you view the logs in much more readable format than just looking at xml format log file.
    (printlogs utility is under $OH/diagnostic/bin directory. Run "printlogs -help" to read about it).
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • SharePoint ULS Diagnostic Logging for Runtime Error not captured

    Hi Guys,
    I have this weird issue whereby my development SharePoint server 2013 (one single box with DC, SQL, CA, Distributed Cache, Search, User Profile and also Visual Studio installed in it) does not log SharePoint Foundation - Runtime errorf for my web part or
    appliaction pages
    This development server is scheduled to shutdown after 8PM and will only be turn on in the 8AM next day.
    Whenever i hit runtime error (such as my custom web part error), it generate a Correlation ID but when i go into the ULS (LOGS folder) to locate them, it is not being captured at all.
    There is no additional configuration in the Diagnostic Logging  in the Central Admin. Everything was left default.
    Does anyone face this issue before?
    Cheng

    Hello Cheng,
    there few things you can do,
    1. first of all confirm that logging is working, log files are getting generated, and sharepoint tracing service is running.
    2. as you have a correlation ID, use
    Merge-SPLog with correlation parameter.
    3. if step 2 does not give you anything, try enabling logging in verbose mode, go to CA -> monitoring -> configure diagnostic logging -> select all categories and select verbose in both the drop downs.
    4. alternatively, you can try to enabled "callstack" and trun OFF "customerrors", it will display the same error as ULS log.
    happy Troubleshooting :)
    Thanks, Noddy

  • VO ExecuteQuery in diagnostic log file.

    Hi am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.0.0
    I have developed a simple ADF application using view based VO, with ViewCriteria in it and Am currently focussing on the application tuning, so that to execute the VO minimal time.
    Now while running the application with logging enabled to finest level, i want to see when and all the VO query got executed.
    While analysing the diagnostic log file I can see 2 query statement for each action corresponds to any individual VO.
    One mere SELECT STATEMENT and the other SELECT STATEMENT with WHERE CLAUSE.
    Although it is expected that the SELECT STATEMENT with WHERE CLAUSE will only be executed, how can we confirm the execution of Query, from the diagnostic-log file (Any KEYWORD inthe log file confirming the execution of VO like 'executeQuery').
    While dubuging I noticed that several times the VO iterator is executed based on different refresh condition given in the pageDef.
    On this scenario how can we differentiate that whether VO is Querying the DB or it is caching the data.
    Can anyone pls help me to identify the executeQuery statement of VO Query from the log file.
    Any suggestion or information pointers will be helpful..
    Thanks and Regards,
    M A P.

    SOA 11g diagnostic logs can be done within the fusion middleware control gui app ( "soa-infra" -> logs -> log configuration ).
    OSB servers have a logging config file:
    {domain_home}/config/fmwconfig/servers/{managed_server}/logging.xml
    with default settings:
    <property name='path' value='${domain.home}/servers/${weblogic.Name}/logs/${weblogic.Name}-diagnostic.log'/>
    <property name='maxFileSize' value='10485760'/>
    <property name='maxLogSize' value='104857600'/>

    I have seen this on all instances of OSB 11.1.1.4.0 to which I have access (all on Windows: desktop Win7 and server 2003R2).
    Googling hasn't explained this to me: what this really means; why it occurs and what actions (if any) are needed to rectify this situation.
    Can some kind member of this forum clarify things, please?

    Hi,
    Do you mean that when you remove the user’s workstation computer accout from AD then re-add it, the user still can use these "elevated" privileges to access other user directories?
    Please check the permssions of the user directory network share on the user’s workstation to see if the permissions are the same with other worksatations. If you enable the offline files on the user’s workstation, please also disable the offline files to check
    the results.

  • How to find which Diagnostic Logging is turned on?

    Hello,
    When I am opening a supplier page, am getting a warning 'Low-level Diagnostic Logging is turned on. This may temporarily reduce performance'. Recently I did the following
    Enable FND Logging using system administrator responsibility by setting the
    following profiles at the USER Level.
    FND: Debug Log Enabled = Yes
    FND: Debug Log Level = Statement
    FND: Debug Log Module = %
    I am not sure about the earlier values of these profile system values. Is there a way to find out what profile values were changed?
    Thanks
    Raj

    If you want to find out when those values were changed, you could get that from the application (Help > Record History) or query FND_PROFILE_OPTIONS_VL.

    I do not think you require any pack for alert.log content monitoring but you might need to check with Oracle rep. I am saying so because if you go to the "Alert log content" page and click on management pack for this page, Grid will display a message that this page does not require any pack.
    Go to the Alert log content by "oracle database -> logs -> alert log contents"
    then
    go to SETUP -> management packs -> packs for this page
    You will see the message will be displayed " this pages does not require any pack"
    Can you also provide the doc where it says that this pae needs diagnostic pack?

  • Revelation: Why my diagnostic logging was not working using log4net TraceAppender

    I thought I better share with people some information that I found which has shed some light on why I've had such a hard time getting native Azure diagnostic logging working.  Hopefully, if I hit enough key words here, someone will find this discussion
    in the future and may save you some time and heart ache.
    Our application is a legacy ASP.Net application which I am porting to Azure.  The application makes extensive use of log4net and I decided that I would use the log4net TraceAppender to forward the logs to the Azure diagnostic listener.  Within
    my worker role, I was configuring my azure logs like so:
    private static void ConfigureLogging() {
    CrashDumps.EnableCollection(true);
    var diagConfig = DiagnosticMonitor.GetDefaultInitialConfiguration();
    var directories = diagConfig.Directories;
    var infrastructureDiagnostics = diagConfig.DiagnosticInfrastructureLogs;
    var applicationLogs = diagConfig.Logs;
    var eventLogs = diagConfig.WindowsEventLog;
    SetTransferPeriod(applicationLogs, 1);
    SetTransferPeriod(directories, 1);
    SetTransferPeriod(infrastructureDiagnostics, 1);
    SetTransferPeriod(eventLogs, 1);
    SetFilterLevel(applicationLogs, LogLevel.Information);
    SetFilterLevel(eventLogs, LogLevel.Information);
    SetFilterLevel(infrastructureDiagnostics, LogLevel.Warning);
    DiagnosticMonitor.Start("DiagnosticsConnectionString", diagConfig);
    Log4NetHelper.ConfigureLog4Net();
    private static void SetFilterLevel(WindowsEventLogsBufferConfiguration eventLogs, LogLevel logLevel)
    eventLogs.DataSources.Add( "Application!*" );
    eventLogs.DataSources.Add( "System!*" );
    eventLogs.ScheduledTransferLogLevelFilter = logLevel;
    private static void SetFilterLevel(BasicLogsBufferConfiguration infrastructureDiagnostics, LogLevel logLevel)
    infrastructureDiagnostics.ScheduledTransferLogLevelFilter = logLevel;
    private static void SetTransferPeriod(DiagnosticDataBufferConfiguration directories, int minutes)
    var period = TimeSpan.FromMinutes(minutes);
    directories.ScheduledTransferPeriod = period;
    Log4NetHelper.Configure uses the log4net programattic API to setup and configure a TraceAppender that captured all LogLevels (DEBUG or higher).  I also made sure that the follwing appeared in my Web.Config
    <system.diagnostics>
    <trace autoflush="false" indentsize="4">
    <listeners>
    <clear />
    <add type="Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Diagnostics.DiagnosticMonitorTraceListener, Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Diagnostics, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" name="AzureDiagnostics">
    <filter type="" />
    </add>
    </listeners>
    </trace>
    </system.diagnostics>
    However, this never worked.  I saw a number of forum posts that suggested that the Azure filter level should be "Undefined" - namely that I should replace
    SetFilterLevel(applicationLogs, LogLevel.Information);
    with
    SetFilterLevel(applicationLogs, LogLevel.Undefined);
    I had set my filter level to Information, cos our app does so much Debug level logging, that I thought I'd save money in storage by really only capturing the INFO or higher messages.  But in the interest of getting the blasted thing to work, I set to
    Undefined, and sure enough all the log message from all levels came through. Setting back to Information and NO messages come though.
    I then noticed that when my logging was working (filter = Undefined) that ALL my log messages were in fact being logged at the Verbose level - even log4net calls to log.Error/log.Warn (exceptions messages being logged at Verbose is not a good sign!)
    You have to realize, that my thought process was not structured at this point as I had no idea what was going on.  Until I found this article:
    http://www.dotnetsolutions.co.uk/blog/archive/2010/02/22/windows-azure-diagnostics-%E2%80%93-why-the-trace-writeline-method-only-sends-verbose-messages/
    While not related to log4net, it was an eye opener, and I used reflector to look at the TraceAppender, and I see they are using Trace.Write to write messages.
    In my mind, this explains why I was seeing the behaviour I was seeing:  AzureDiagnostic listener is converting all Trace.Write messags to Verbose (details in the above article) and log4net TraceAppender is converting all log messages to Trace.Write
    messages.  Setting the filter to Information was thus stripping all the calls.
    My solution is to inherit TraceAppender and change their impl of Append to use a switch on the LogLevel:
    using System.Diagnostics;
    using log4net.Appender;
    using log4net.Core;
    namespace XXX.Azure
    public class AzureTraceAppender : TraceAppender
    protected override void Append(LoggingEvent loggingEvent)
    var level = loggingEvent.Level;
    var message = RenderLoggingEvent(loggingEvent);
    if (level >= Level.Error)
    Trace.TraceError(message);
    else if (level >= Level.Warn)
    Trace.TraceWarning(message);
    else if (level >= Level.Info)
    Trace.TraceInformation(message);
    else
    Trace.Write(message);
    if (ImmediateFlush)
    Trace.Flush();
    With log4net configured to use this appender, then log messages appearing in the WADLogsTable are all appearing at the correct (or nearest appropriate) level
    YMMV
    Pete

    Thanks, that's extremely useful!
    Using your appender, Verbose level messages still were not shown though. What did the trick was changing
    Trace.Write(message);
    to
    Trace.WriteLine(message);

  • Change logs missing for OB52

    Hi Experts
    We have a peculiar problem where change logs are missing for some of the transactions made through OB52 for modifying FI posting periods.
    I vefired that change logging has been correctly activated for table T001B. Though change logs are  displayed for most of the transactions through SCU3 or in table DBTABLOG, logs will be missing for some records.
    Can you please let us know what could be the possible scenarios where change logs are not recorded for OB52 or table T001B even though logging has been activated.
    Any inputs on this will be very helpful.
