SOA Suite 11.1.1.2: Human workflow: custom application: Attachment: getCont

Hello,
i am building a custom application for the human workflow component in SOA Suite 11.1.1.2.
I am able to add attachments to the created tasks. But when i try to get the contents with the function AttachmentType.getContent(), i always receive a null pointer.
I have looket into the database and there are the entries in a blob in the content-column of the table wfattachment. But there is the contents binary, although i put it to the task Base64Encoded.
Can someone help me to get the contents of the attachments?
Best regards and thanks a lot
Friedrich

Thank you.
I must have changed something by accident. I would never had caught that. I reversed the changes in the WebLogic Console and all was right in the world. The app deployed correctly and the Human Task Approval Form worked flawlessly.
I guess I do some things right. ;-)

  • Oracle human workflow task services have no support for SAML2.0 in 11.1.1.5

    When I have checked the SAML binding version of Oracle human workflow task service WSDL (TaskQueryService2?ORAWSDL), it has a SAML 1.0 policy attached to it in the soap header?
    Does SOA Suite 11.1.1.5.0 workflow tasking services support SAML2.0 policy ?
    I have tried applying SAML2.0 policy from OSB on the Business service calling TaskQuerySerivice2, it does not accept it. As the SAML version of wsdl is embedded with SAML1.0 policy, business service
    did not run?
    As this Tasking services come as part of standard SOA Suite install, is there any work around to update the WSDL to change the policy to SAML 2.0?
    Thanks

    Hi Experts,
    If incase anyone has encountered this issue. Please can you advice for the same.
    I need to get this done on urgent basis.
    I am able to deploy the process successfully from JDEV. Its throwing issue only when I manually deploy the WAR file in WL Console.
    Its getting deployed successfully, but unable to view task form from BPM Worklist.

  • BPEL PM, BPM, BPEL in SOA Suite - what's the diff?

    Hi
    I read many blogs, one blog says all are same, other says each is diff. I've got some idea on what each of these offers. But pls clarify.
    I'm really confused of the terminology that oracle uses for BPEL PM, BPM, BPEL in SOA Suite.
    I'm aware of BPEL that comes with the SOA Suite installation, we develop, deploy and maintain BPEL flows using JDev.
    Now, what's this BPEL Process Manager, that is listed in the products section, seperately from SOA Suite? Does it contain anything diff from the BPEL engine that is embedded in SOA Suite?
    And What's Business Process Management(BPM). As far as i know, and could think of, is that BPM is a tool for modelling business applications. It is similar to the BPEL in SOA Suite PLUS Modelling capability of the business process. It even has the same components as in SOA SUite like BPEL, Business Rules, Human Flows, Mediators, Adaptors.
    So, can we say, BPM = SOA Suite + Modelling capabilities of business process.
    To summarise, would you please summarise the components that each of these provide
    BPEL Process Manager -- BPEL, _(and what other componens)_
    SOA SUite -- BPEL, Bus. Rules, Human Flows, Mediators, Adapters
    BPM -- Modelling notations, BPEL, Bus. Rules, Human Flows, Mediators, Adapters
    If BPEL exists in all the three, Is the engine that runs it also the same one in all three..?

    Hi
    1. Yes, your understanding is absolutely correct: BPM = SOA Suite + Modelling capabilities of business process. I hope you know little bit of history behind this BPM product and about BEA and Oracle company. Below is some non-technical information about these companies and the products they owned.
    2. Originally I guess, Oracle had SOA Suite like 10g running on their own Oracle application server. It may have had some basic components like human tasks, mediators some basic business rules etc. During the same time around 2006 to 2008 another company by name BEA has Weblogic Application Server and had another full blown process development applications/software. BEA in turn bought from Plumtree like that. Anyhow they had full stack of products like ALBPM (Aqua Logic Business Process Management), ALUI (Aqua Logic UI Portal), ALDSP (Data Integrator), ALSB (AL Service Bus), ALES (AL Enterprise Security) etc. Then Oracle bought BEA Company and Oracle ended up owning all these products. Oracle spent good amount of money, people and technology and did an awesome job in integrating BEAs ALBPM with their own SOA software and put everything on top of Weblogic Application Server. For a while, soa and bpm existed parallely. Like we can install albpm on top of soa like that. But SOA 11g onwards SOA + BPM are completely integrated and provided as a single product. They are not separate any more. We can call that as SOA Suite or BPM Suite. But as you understand, they had all the stuff to create a full blown process application that includes core BPEL Process, tasks, mediators, adapters, email adapters everything. Customers buy this suite of produt. They can develop simple BPEL Process or complex BPM Applications. The advanced features for BPM you can find online like adding Swimlanes/Roles where we can literally drag and drop the Human Tasks in those roles and that takes care of everything.
    Oracle retained and rebranded other products like ALSB (Oracle Service Bus), ALES (something like identity management) etc .
    In conclusion, your understanding is correct. Now there is only BPM or SOA (use any word) that includes everything and that runs on Weblogic Application Server.

  • Oracle SOA Suite 11g - Supported Databases??

    Hi All
    I am trying my hands with Oracle SOA suite 11g on my laptop having 2GB of RAM...
    List of soft wares installed for this are Oracle 11g database, JDeveloper, SOA Suite. On real time when developing some application system becomes too slow due to memory issue.
    The Oracle DB eats up max memory...
    So looking for a alternative light weight database alternative for Oracle SOA 11g suite like SQL server 2005.
    The Repository Configuration Utility version RCU11.1.1.2 supports SQL Server 2005 database and create the schemas like Dev_SOAINFRA, DEVV_ORASDPM etc correctly...
    But while configuring the new admin and SOA server via the wizards (start menu -> Oracle SOA 11g - Home1 -> Configure Application Server) the only database vendor drop down option available is Oracle , list does not contain other players IBM DB2, MS SQL Server , MySQL.....
    So can somebody tell me for Oracle SOA Suite 11g, what is the light weight Database option is available so that I may go for SOA applications development on machine like my configuration....

    Yes, All schema created successfully using the RCU tool, except the below warning.
    +"The Database you are connecting is not a supported version. Enter database with version equal to of higher that 10.2.0.4.0 in 10g or version equal to of higher that 11.1.0.7.0 in 11g.Refer to the certification matrix for the supported DB versions."+
    But when starts the SOA server , the log bears the below error repeated numerous time.

  • Install SOA suite 11g

    Hello all
    I am very new in the implementation of the Oracle SOA Suite 11g and I have to migrate my applications from 10g, but still do not know which operating system is recommended for the 11g install, and to review the certification matrix but did not find a recommendation to choose from.
    I hope you can help me
    Thank you

    Hi,
    You can find the relavent information in the install guides:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/doc.1111/e13925/overview.htm
    EL 4 and 5 are supported.

  • Is Basic Install of 10.1.3.1 Sufficient for SOA Suite Tutorial

    Hi there. My knowledge of Application Server is pretty basic. I've been trying to setup for the SOA Suite Tutorial. I installed Database Express Edition installed for the SOADEMO schema then ran the Basic install of SOA Suite on Windows XP without the firewall up and no DHCP.
    When I run through steps in the tutorial I am unable to establish a connection to the application server. Checked the Port which is 6003. In the test of the connection I get refused a connection and a suggestion to check if OPMN is running, which it is.
    I am wondering if I need the HTTP_Server web server installed as well (not installed with the Basic install). Any ideas? Maybe the tutorial only works with the Advanced Install of SOA Suite!

    Reinstalled basic installation of SOA Suite. Am able to establish connection to DB in JDeveloper. When I follow the procedure in SOA Suite Tutorial to establish JDeveloper connection to the application server I get the following error when testing connection (note pipsqueak hosts SOA Suite - separate machine to JDeveloper).

  • Differences between human workflow in SOA Suite or in BPM Suite?

    according to:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/soasuite/index-090227.html
    both oracle suites have human workflow.
    can anyone point out what is the real difference then between this two human workflow components?
    if there is non:
    can anyone point out big differences between BPM suite and SOA Suite?
    regards chris

    There are no difference.
    BPM Suite 11g is deployed on top of SOA Suite 11g and it uses the Human Workflow of SOA Suite only.
    You will see additional functionalities in Human Workflow if you are having a BPM suite instead of SOA Suite like Business Calendar, Protected Flex Fields, Application Roles, AMX functionalities will be enabled by default, etc.

    Cyryl

    Hi. I made another account for I can't email address in my profile.
    I found that my problem is cluster specific problem. JDeveloper's default configuration works with clustered BPEL engines for simple processes that have no human tasks. But human-task-included processes are deployed without task forms with the same errors you'd had.
    I found a work-around for it. I changed build.properties in the project for cluster configuration as below,
    platform = ias_10g
    domain = default
    rev = 1.1
    admin.user = oc4jadmin
    admin.password = welcome1
    http.hostname = the_server_address
    http.port = 7779
    cluster = true
    j2ee.hostname = the_server_address
    rmi.port = 23791
    opmn.requestport = 6004
    oc4jinstancename = default_group
    And, yes, Ant would definitely be an answer for it, too.
    Thank you for your reply,
    Joon.

  • Another bug in Oracle Soa Suite 11gR3 (bpel workflow)

    Hello,
    I am getting an error that i guess be a bug in soa suite (bpel human task workflow).
    I created a simple workflow that have three human task (three steps of approval):
    1 ) I deployed the project
    2) I invite a requisition for the bpel through SoapUI
    3) I access the worklistapp application and make login using the user approver1
    4) I click at Approve button. It works.
    5) When i logout and login using the user approver2 (second human task - second level of approval) the requistion is there, but when i click in task the bellow exception is throwed:
    Obs.: If i restart my weblogic server, and access the worklistapp with the user approver2 (again). It Works.
    Question: Should I always restart the Weblogic Server for each step in a workflow ? If my bpel have 5 human tasks, i have to do 5 restarts on the weblogic server for work ?
    Anyone has the same bug ?

    That really works! I'll add example of changes to DataBinding.cpx because it is not so obvious what to do after renaming package and applying automatic refactoring (that doesn't fix all what it should fix).

  • Screens for Human Work Flow created using BPEL PM in SOA Suite 10.1.3.1

    Hi,
    I have created a bpel process having a human work flow for approving or rejecting the request {say leave request submited by the user}.
    I would like to know :
    1)How to create screens for such human activities?
    2)Are there any tools in SOA suite which allow me to create User Screens for approving such human flows.
    3)Are there any otherways to create such screens for Human activities?
    Pointers are also appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Irfan Khan

    Generating a default task display form doesn't really cover probably the most common use case:
    1) human initiates a form that is presented to him/her
    2) form is populated with fields that come from a defined database schema
    3) human fills out form and submits to workflow
    4) data from the form is stored in database
    5) another human is presented with the form popualted with database data
    6) human approves or reject form
    I haven't been able to find any examples describing how to do this. Or anything in the manuals. I have another forum entry which also points to this problem:
    How do you add db fields to Task Display Form ?

  • Oracle SOA Suite 11g Human TaskFlow JDeveloper Deployment Error

    Hi,
    I am getting the following error in JDeveloper (11.1.1.3.0) while deploying a Human TaskFlow application in Oracle SOA Suite 11g (SOA server instance). I generated the task flow application in JDeveloper from Human Task component of the BPEL process. I am able to deploy and run BPEL Process successfully in the SOA server.

  • Is human task in 11g soa suite  WS-HumanTask complaint  ?

    Hi all,
    I have a small doubt,is human task in 11g soa suite WS-HumanTask complaint ?
    Thank You

    If BPEL don't timed out, you can have Human task in Synchronous BPEL process.
    For this, you can have your synchronous reply before any Human task call back receive activities (this causes the timeout) or you can just create human task and no other call back receive activities.
    Thanks

  • Approach to create a generic Approval process using SOA human workflow ?

    Hello Experts,
    I'm looking to create a generic approval process using oracle soa human workflow component using JDev 11.1.1.5
    Have about 7-8 existing applications which do some kind of 'approval' . So need to create a generic solution for all 7-8 applications, instead of users logging into 7-8 different applications to approve by logging into different systems. Just want to have like a 'one stop shop' , where i can just go and approve for any application without having to log into separate applications.
    I'm looking to get some suggestions and ideas, on how I can achieve this functionality ... Any suggestions/ideas are appreciated .
    Thanks a lot.

    Hello,
    you can find multiple sample on the web like those
    http://www.splessons.com/2013/12/create-state-machine-workflow-in-sharepoint-2013-using-visual-studio-2012/
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee231606.aspx
    I don't think that's very different using VS2013 or VS2012
    Best regards, Christopher.

  • Custom Identity Service configuration in SOA Suite 11g

    Has anyone been successfull in using custom identity service (available in 10.1.3.X) as a identity store in soa suite 11g human workflow component? If yes, please guide me.

    Can you make sure your helloworld is using adf bindings as mentioned in thread Re: Urgent :: 11g Invoking Composite from Java/From Webservice Proxy

  • Date transfer between 11g BPMN Process and Human Workflow task

    I'm creating a small BPMN process in SOA Suite 11g. Pretty simple: Holiday Request where one enters name, start date, end date and leave type (e.g. annual). The odd thing is, any dates I enter into the process end up losing one day when viewed in the BPM Worklist.
    So, to be clear:
    * The BPMN process receives a message like this (note the +10:00 -- I'm running this in Australia):
    <RequestData>
    <name>JohnJames</name>
    <startDate>2010-06-21+10:00</startDate>
    <endDate>2010-06-21+10:00</endDate>
    <leaveType>annual</leaveType>
    </RequestData>
    * It does some minor processing, then passes this onto a Human Workflow task (exactly the same):
    <RequestData>
    <name>JohnJames</name>
    <startDate>2010-06-21+10:00</startDate>
    <endDate>2010-06-21+10:00</endDate>
    <leaveType>annual</leaveType>
    </RequestData>
    * When I open the task in the BPM Worklist app I see this:
    name : JohnJames
    startDate : 20/06/2010
    endDate : 20/06/2010
    leaveType : annual
    So, why? My processing code doesn't alter the dates in any way at all before passing them to Human Workflow. I figure this has something to do with locales used by HW but I can't figure out where or what to change. Any clues? Comments? Ideas?

    OK, I have a solution that works for me: YMMV. There's two parts to it:
    1) To have the dates interpreted correctly, I changed the fields on the generated forms for the Human Tasks. The Start Date and End Date fields were created as Input Text fields with the "Converter" property set to <default>. I changed the fields to Input Date fields instead, and the dates were interpreted correctly (i.e. May 21 showed up as May 21 rather than May 20) But they still showed up in US date format: 5/21/2010.
    2) To have them formatted for my locale, I added a "formatting-locale" entry to the "trinidad-config.xml" file: <formatting-locale>en-AU</formatting-locale>. The dates then showed up as 21/5/2010.
    This solution doesn't give you dates automatically formatted for your own locale, or different locales based on browser, but it does give me what I want for now. Thought some folks might be interested.
