SOA Suite CPU Usage

Hi,
I've installed the SOA Suite 10.1.3.1 in a Windows XP Professional with the follow Hardware characteristics :
- AMD SEMPROM 2.8
- 2GB RAM
- Free Disk Space : 59 GB
When i start the SOA Suite , i've gotten 100% CPU usage when i do some request to server. Does anybody has some documentation about this problem or had this problem too?
regards

I have been using 1gb machine for my soa suite, and another 1 gb for the oracle 10g db, dint get this problem with GA, although had issues when deployed both on the same machine.
might be something else, check for number of other applications/servers running at the same time, or maybe somekind of spyware/adware/viruses.

  • Install SOA suite components on different cpu

If we buy one copy of the CPU license of SOA suite (list price 65,000/cpu), can we deploy its components on different CPUs? For example, can we run its Portal on one machine, its BEPL Process manager on the second machine, and BAM on a third machine. Is their a limitation on how many CPUs we can run the one SOA suite (CPU) license? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Fabian,
Oracle's support for other applications servers such as JBoss, Websphere, WebLogic, etc is more a sales story than something that people do in practice. Oracle doesn't want to lose a sale because a customer has a strategic alliance with a particular application server. So they support SOA Suite on the main competitors. Licensing is a dark art and I couldn't give you a 100% guarantee on how SOA Suite is sold but to get SOA Suite you need to license enterprise Application Server. SOA Suite is on top of this. If you turn it around if you buy SOA suite you get Oracle Application Server enterprise edition (includes OC4J) for free.
So if you are looking at using JBoss for a cost cutting exercise I don't believe the licensing at Oracle will help you.
The install for SOA Suite is the install for ESM + WSM, there is no separate install for these products for thrid party application servers. So you topology is not as flexible as it could be is you used Oracle Application Server.
Your proposed option of SOA Suite (ESB, WSM) is an option using the document provided in previous post.
When I say Oracle Application Server I mean Oracles existing Application Server, Not Web Logic. There is currently a progression of porting the OC4J apps to Weg Logic, this should be completed when 11g arrives. There are a few version release before this happens, each one providing more functionality.
If I was you I would understand the price of SOA Suite on JBoss as apposed to Oracle Application Server. If the price comes close then I would go with using the Oracle Application Server. If you want to use the ESB, I would go with Aqua Logic installed on WLS. Currently SOA Suite is not certified on the 10.3 release hence keep it on the Oracle Application Server. There will be a migration path to 11g next year.
    cheers
    James

  • Google Earth Plugin and LabVIEW: High CPU usage when adding placemarks

    Hi,
I posted this question on stackoverflow earlier this week but feel it might be better suited to the LabVIEW community specifically so I'm reposting here:
I'm writing an application which uses the Google Earth Plugin to display events on the globe. Each event is a single point kml placemark with an icon which is a 3kb png file. Placemarks are uploaded to the plugin as they are received by the software. I am experiencing increasing CPU usage with the number of placemarks that are added.
I have tested displaying a new placemark every second and running until the software running the plugin completely froze (graph attached). The GEPlugin (green trace) stopped responding (i.e. the globe did not respond to the mouse) at around 1200 placemarks added and CPU usage was at ~30%. When the software itself (red trace) froze the plugin was using around 50% CPU and ~3700 placemarks had been added). After the freeze, no new placemarks were added which caused the software to respond (but not the plugin) so I could clear all the placemarks. After the placemarks were cleared from the globe, the CPU usage of the plugin returned to around 5% CPU.
So what I've seen is that GEPlugin CPU usage increases linearly with each kml placemark added. Is this the expected behaviour/ a normal limitation of the plugin? If not is there a more efficient way of adding many placemarks to the globe?
I am using GEPlugin version 7.1.1.1580 (API version 1.010) and LabVIEW 12.0f3
Please see the test results attached. Any input greatly appreciated!

    Hello,
I have had a look at your graphs and understood what you are trying to do. To me it seems that as the image gets more complex it gets harde to render which wold likely cause increase in CPU usage resulting in the freeze. I would suggest you try running the program on anoher computer to check on the RAM front of things. If this is a limitation of the GE Plugin then unfortunately I can not do much to help, but if you think this is a problem coming from your LabVIEW code then you can post your code here and I can take a look.

  • Performance tuning of BPEL processes in SOA Suite 11g

    Hi,
We are working with a customer for performance tuning of SOA Suite 11g, one of the areas is to tune the BPEL processes. I am new to this and started out with stress testing Hello World process using SOAPUI tool. I would like help with the below topics -
    1. How do I interpret the statistics collected during stress testing? Do we have any benchmark set that can indicate that the performance is ok.
    2. Do we need to run stress tests for every BPEL process deployed?
    2. Is there any performance tuning strategy documentation available? Or can anybody share his/her experiences to guide me?
    Thanks in advance!
    Sritama

    1. How do I interpret the statistics collected during stress testing? Do we have any benchmark set that can indicate that the performance is ok.
    You need
    pay attention to:
java heap usage vs java heap capacity
java eden usage vs java eden capacity
JDBC pool initial connections vs JDBC pool capacity connections
if you are using linux: top
if you are using aix: topas
    2. Do we need to run stress tests for every BPEL process deployed?
yes, you need test each BPEL. You can use "Jmeter" tool.
Download Jmeter from here: Apache JMeter - Apache JMeter™
    Other tools:
    jstat
    jstack
    jps -v
    Enterprise Manager
    WebLogic Console
    VisualVM
    JRockit Mission Control
    3. Is there any performance tuning strategy documentation available? Or can anybody share his/her experiences to guide me?
I recommend "Oracle SOA Suite 11g Performance Tuning Cookbook" http://www.amazon.com/Oracle-Suite-Performance-Tuning-Cookbook/dp/1849688842/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378482031&sr=8-1&keywords=oracle+soa+suite+11g+performance+tuning+cookbook

  • High CPU Usage in Word 2013

    Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with Word 2013 and I'm hoping someone can help. Seen as I got fleeced for my TechNet subscription this year (the price given on the invoice doubled when I called up to pay!) I’d very much like to see a speedy fix from the Microsofties
    please! :D
Recently, I've found that Word will consistently exhibit high CPU utilisation, ~50% on a dual core second generation Core i5.
This continues, even when I’m not providing any input to or interacting with the Word window and even when the Word window is covered by other windows. Minimising Word causes its CPU usage to drop back down to zero.
The strange thing is that, so far, I’ve only observed this with a single document. I started writing this document at the start of this week and it’s been authored exclusively on Word 2013. In fact I’m the only one who’s editing it and I’ve only used a single
computer (and this one single install of Word 2013) to do so…
There’s nothing particularly unusual about this document, and a different but similar document which uses the same themes and features (in fact the theme for the second document was created from the first one) doesn’t appear to cause the same issues. Both
these documents are stored on SkyDrive, and are being edited directly from there.
Initially I tried the much recommended tweaks of disabling hardware graphics acceleration and sub-pixel positioning, however neither of these has had any effect.
I investigated a bit further using Sysinternals Process Monitor, and found that while Word is using a lot of CPU it’s actually looping very, very quickly polling for the existence of the registry key “HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Avalon.Graphics”.
This key doesn’t exist on my system, and a quick test I conducted where I created it just lead to Word looping polling for more non-existent registry keys.
My system is a HP Folio 13 running Windows 8 Pro x64 with Office 2013 (RTM, not Beta) 32 bit. Both Windows and Office are fully patched, as is everything else on the system.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.
    Chris

    Hello again,
After working on my problematic document some more, I believe I’ve found the cause of the issue.
@Microsofties – I think this one is either a bug or a dodgy OOTB template…
I noticed that the high CPU usage only seemed to occur when the document’s footer was displayed. Experimenting with some careful scrolling and zooming to hide footer (without actually using the “hide white-space” option) seemed to confirm this so I investigated
    the footer a bit more.
My document was using the standard Word “Facet (Odd Page)” footer template with a couple of fields added to suit my needs, namely “Publish Date” and a page number.
The template seems to be structured such that the content of the footer is inside two nested text boxes (one inside the other). I also noticed previously that this footer template also appears to “jump” up each page and back down again as I scrolled.
So I deleted the footer and its text boxes, and recreated the same content, in the same position (using the standard paragraph alignment tools) by hand without the nested text boxes. This has, so far, fixed the issue!
I also noticed that the CPU usage dropped right down to idle the moment I deleted the nested text boxes.
Altogether, this leads me to conclude that the “Facet (Odd Page)” footer template in Word 2013 is the source of my issue. Specifically, I believe that the use of nested text boxes in this template causes Word’s interactions with the .Net 4.5 WPF to go a
bit nuts, as evidenced by the infinite loop of request for the non-existent “Avalon.Graphics” WPF registry key I mentioned previously.
It would be nice to see some feedback on this one, Microsoft people, if only to know if this is actually a general issue or is specific to my document!
    Thanks, Chris

  • High CPU usage while display is asleep

This is a strange one, and I've noticed it on multiple distros, and Arch is no different.  When my system is sitting idle with the screen on my CPU usage hovers around 5%, which I would consider to be perfectly normal.  However, when the display goes to sleep (no screen saver, just DPMS sleep) the CPU jumps up to about 25% and stays there until I bump the mouse (or do whatever to wake the system up), and then it will drop back down to the normal 5% CPU usage.
I had always thought it had something to do with Firefox, but I had Firefox closed while I was away at work today, and yet when I come home and wake my computer up my CPU usage graph shows that it's been at a solid 25% all day long.
Anyone have any ideas what this might be, or recommend a way to hunt down exactly what process is eating my CPU cycles while the display is off?
Thanks a lot, this has been puzzling me for some time now.
EDIT: I should add that I am running KDE, and have been on the other distros as well (to the best of my recollection).  After realizing this it seems like this thread may be better suited for the Applications & DE forum, but I'm not sure... it could very well be something to do with the kernel or something to do with power saving.  Please move if you see fit.

The CPU usage is not accounted for in the system monitor app.  There's roughly 4% usage accounted for, yet there's a total of 29% being used.
The script doesn't seem to find anything either.  High idle CPU usage kicks in maybe 3/4 of the way through, but the output doesn't seem to change from the beginning at all.

  • JDK version for installing SOA suite on windows vista

    Hi
I am trying to install SOA Suite 10.1.3.1 on my Windows Vista 64 bit system. Currently, when running irca.bat, I am getting error "invalid java version 1.6.0_13. Version 1.4 is required."
But isnt the script supposed to run for all 1.4+ jdks. Which version of jdk do I need to install?

I'm trying to install the Oracle SOA Suite 11g on Solaris 10 SPARC-64 but I´m having problems.

I think that the error would be caused by the JDK version with which try to initializing.
Anyone have any idea about the possible error? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I encourage you to try to use the generic installer at: %SOA_INSTALLER_DIR%/Disk1/runInstaller. Because if you are using the runInstaller at %SOA_INSTALLER_DIR%/Disk1/install/solaris it will lead to that problem in some cases.

    Hi,
check for some spaces or character which might be going while you specify the JRE locations, alternatively you can call runInstaller with
-jreLoc ,i.e;have the path in the cmd.
    ./runInstaller -jreLoc /root/Oracle/Middleware/jdk160_14_R27.6.5-32
    which should work.

  • SOA Suite 11.1.1.3 - doesn't create managed server

Trying to install SOA Suite 11.1.1.3 from the docs at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/install.1111/e14318/qisoa.htm
Get right up until section "6.1 Configuring Custom Port Numbers for Oracle BAM" (without any errors in logs etc) and notice that the MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/domain_name/servers/ directory only has one entry - AdminServer - i.e. doesn't contain soa_server1 or bam_server1.
Odd, so anyway, carry on without it, startWeblogic.sh runs fine, contents of startManagedWebLogic_readme.txt are as follows:
To start managed servers, use either startManagedWebLogic.cmd
or startManagedWebLogic.sh, as appropriate for your environment.
    Usage instructions:
For ease of reference, you defined the following managed
    servers in your domain:
    bam_server1
    soa_server1
    All good.
So I run startWeblogic.sh soa_server1. This actually creates the MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/domain_name/servers/soa_server1 directory - which seems good - but then it fails with the following:

    Presumably, because there isn't a boot.properties file.
Even fixing that it gives me:
    Reason: weblogic.security.SecurityInitializationException: Authentication denied: Boot identity not valid;
I assume this is all down to the managed server not being created at config time.
Any ideas as to why this would be?
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply Anuj,
    1. Let me make one point clear, I don't need to create a Web Logic domain if I create a SOA DOMAIN.? right?
    2. In setDomainEnv.sh BEA_JAVA_HOME has the JRMC (supported for SOA) PATH, as I selected jrmc while creating SOA DOMAIN.
    3.I checked commEnv.sh file ( MW_HOME/wlserver_10.3/common/bin/commEnv.sh) and I copied some of the code,there is JAVA_HOME , so I will change to supported JRockit(jrmc).
    # Reset JAVA_HOME, JAVA_VENDOR and PRODUCTION_MODE unless JAVA_HOME
    # and JAVA_VENDOR are pre-defined.
    if [ -z "${JAVA_HOME}" -o -z "${JAVA_VENDOR}" ]; then
    # Set up JAVA HOME
    *JAVA_HOME="/home/oracle/jrockit-R27.5.0-jdk1.6.0_03"*
    # Set up JAVA VENDOR, possible values are
    #Oracle, HP, IBM, Sun ...
    JAVA_VENDOR=Oracle
    # PRODUCTION_MODE, default to the development mode
    PRODUCTION_MODE=""
    fi
I don't see any other files where I have to change JAVA_HOME . I will look up in Web Logic forums too.
    Thanks again

  • SOA suite clustering...

We are setting up SOA suite in clustered environmenet in one of our test projects which would be further be replicated to production
    env.
We have installed the oracle products in the following fashion.
    1. Installation of HTTP server and J2EE (Advanced SOA suite 10.1.3.1).
Have these to be done individually one after another or else how we have done in a single flow?
    2. Installation of BPEL Process Manager - 10.1.3.1 (separate installation on top
of oc4j home) Is this right or as suggested in the document from companion CD?
However we did not find any BPM components in the companion CD.
    3. Set the apps in cluster using multicast IP and the BPEL Managers in cluster using the
    collaxa*** files.
    4. Can you let me know the right time to apply the 10.1.3.3 patch during this whole clustering setup?
    5. Regarding testing....can you let us know the way in which we can get to know on which BPM server the process has
executed? Do any of the logs indicate on this?
    5. Can a hot backup/online of the installation files be used in future for recovery purpose or else we need
to stop the servers and initiate the backup?
    6. Please suggest some good software for software load balancer.
    7. Let me know if there are any limitations on usage of filesystem for cluster installation
? eg. Can we use nfs filesystem or shall we use only local filesystem ?
    Thanks,
    Rosh

If you use clustering because of high availability you should use Oracle RAC for the dehydration store...

  • CPU Usage % While Editing Video

We get quite a few questions on why CPU usage is below 100% in some operations. This applies to both PrE and PrPro. Here is a THREAD (on PrPro, so there are some Pro-specific comments involved in the thread), and Harm Millaard has distilled the possibilities nicely in Reply #1.
Note: there is a link to the PrPro CS5 Benchmark. The site, and benchmark files and tests are not available for PrE, but when comparing hardware, the spreadsheet of the performance data from users' configurations, can tell one a lot, even if they are running PrE, and cannot actually participate in the benchmarking - the data in that spreadsheet is still VERY useful, when looking at various computer configurations.
Good luck, and hope that this helps others,
    Hunt

    1) Why video rendering is taking about 3h to render 2.2Gb wma file to make it HD 720p 29.97  with H.264 codec? CPU is loaded only 16-20%, have alot of RAM. Ou and tried both OpenCL and system only renderer no change in time needed or CPU load.
Because of the source material and the hardware. Wrong CPU, video card an not enough memory.
    2) Does Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (OpenCL) means GPU usage mostly and system only - CPU usage?
Exporting is CPU based, the Radeon does not help at all. Tweakers Page - Exporting Style
    3) Why is so low CPU usage I thought that doing something big like video editing CPU should be fully loaded..., but here I see that it as I said is using only 16-20% and 2-3 cores aren't even in use.
Again because of the source material / codec and the hardware. Typical of ill-threaded codecs and the CPU.
    4) Is it ok for a recorded game video to be big like 2-5Gb after rendering in HD format, because I think if  films 44 min HD quality are 350-400MB  than game videos should be about the same.
44 min. of HD material can never be 350-400 MB of decent quality. 44 min of SD material (DVD) is already over 3 GB for decent quality. For HD, even on YouTube, count on at least 4-5 GB for 44 minutes or more.
    5) Maybe there is a better video capture app than Fraps, Overwolf, raptr GVR (well looked fine but I couldn't edit the video, Adobe element showed black screen and played audio) so that I could easelly edit it with adobe apps.
You can't capture with any of the software you mention, Capture is only possible with tape cased cameras over firewire.
Your AMD 8-core CPU is not suited for video editing, it is even slower than a 4-core Intel, because of the lacking SSE support. See Tweakers Page - What kind of PC to use? Your Radeon is pretty slow for editing, Tweakers Page - What video card to use? and the amount of memory is limited.

  • Uninstall SOA Suite from Business Vista and then install again

I have installed SOA Suite 10.1.3 on Business Vista laptop. Before this I had to change oraparams.ini of installation package to add entry 6.0 (Vista) for supported OS. Installation was on computer without Oracle database, so automatically it was made for Oracle lite. Installtion was sucesfule and also some configuration assistants (e.g. BPEL) were successful, but Web services assistance failed (there was error messages during execution of some SQL - some object couldn't be found - so - maybe failure was due to lack of running database, the ultimate error message was that running server (what? DB? AS????) cann't be found). So - I have decided uninstall Suite (I had to change oraparam.ini of installer as well - to add 6.0).
Before this I had installed Oracle DB for Vista (sucesfully) and now its services are working.
So - the problem is that SOA Suite unistall now proceeds almost several days - there is 100% CPU consumption of both cores, HD free space slowly fluctuate +/- 0.2 GB, there is no records with word error in unistall err log and no additional message execept for 'deinstall in progress...' on standard output. What shoudl I do? Are there some toolls available to remove SOA without uninstall... How long it be?
My ulitmate aim is to remove current SOA installation and the install it again - I hope that as now I have DB installed, then SOA installation and assistants will comlete sucessfully... Yes - I am using Vista, but I can hardly imagine that Oracle suite cann't be Vista enabled.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello
How did the uninstall and reinstall go?
I started installing the 10.1.3 SOA suite (because that was the only version certified on Vista as per oracle readmes) with out clear installation instructions - and probably hoping the instructions for 10.1.2 will be valid to some degree. Instead found the install screens have been drastically altered. There is no option to install the infrastructure db - looks like the basic isnatll will install a lite db. And the advanced install seems to need an existing db. I have a 10g db installed but am not sure if i need to so additional setups like pre-creating some schemas - i exited the installation and started researching - your post is the closest to what i'm doing. Can you point me to any documentation on installing 10.1.3 on Vista?
Ideally i'd like to install R2 but that does not seem to be certified on vista.
    Thanks in advance.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro M70 of 2 yrs old and I am a definite advocate for Toshiba. However, my operating system is slow. Average day usage with Internet Explorer and Office 2007 is a painstaking process that takes too long. I have had conflicts with Trend Micro Internet Security 2008, which works perfectly.
But starting up the computer takes ages. CPU usage is usually high and System Idle Processes as well. I have reinstalled Windows XP from the Toshiba Boot DVD already 4 times with starting fresh and installing everything time and time again. Each time after getting everything up to speed again, the performance is disappointing.
I have extended RAM to 1,49 GB which made little difference from the original 1/3 of RAM. It seems that something is slowing down the computer, but this is not visable in the processes; other than quite a few svhost.exe processes that take little processing capacity nor CPU usage.
I have used Windows Gold Certified Uniblue Power Suite with a good registry cleaner. This helps a bit, but after a couple of days it seems to get only worse. I have an Intel Pentium M 1.73 GHz processor. Research online reveals that Trend Micro IS 2008 is quite good and demanding little capacity in comparison to competing security packages.
Is this system/software related or could this be a hardware issue?
    Thanks in advance to all!

    Hi!
This definitively not a hardware issue and I think should try to optimize some Windows settings to make your notebook faster.
At first you should clean the start up folder. Remove all programs that you dont need at start up. For example I dont have programs in the start up folder.
Furthermore you can customize the start up programs in msconfig (start => run => msconfig). There you can disable more programs that you dont need. Its your choice what do disable or enable.
You can improve the performance if you defragment your HDD from time time.
Remove all programs and trial software that you dont need and after this clean the registry. You can use CCleaner as Jimi said.
Try an other antivirus program. Maybe TrendMicro is not full compatible to the software that you use. I use AntiVir.
    Bye
