SOA  support in XI 3.0?

We have XI 3.0 (sp 15). OUr client wants to know the level of SOA support that is available with this version. Is there any document for the same?

Hi Kris,
SAP has developed most of its eSOA services on PI 7.1 and they are planning to backpack some of the new features to PI 7.0. (ramped up since 14 dec'07 )I am not sure if XI 3.0 has the level of compatibility to support service architectures.. You may contact sap serivce support thro user service market place to get more clarity on this .

  • Oracle SOA support for these protocols

Not sure if anyone knows but what component in the Oracle SOA stack or how would the SOA stack support:
    1) OFTP
    2) MFT
    3) Connect:Direct
Can't find anything in the documentation about this.
    Thanks

As mentioned before, the BPEL language itself is a programming language. Via BPEL partner links it is able to connect to other systems. In Oracle SOA Suite, we support by default adapaters (and this protocols):
    JMS/FTP/FTPS/Database/AQ/MQ-Series/WebServcis.
Third party companies such as Iway, delivers other adapters to connect to other systems and/or protocols.

  • Does SOA BPEL 11.1.7.0 support XPath 2.0 in XSLT mapping?

    Dear Oracle support,
I am using SOA Suite 11.1.1.7.0 (local development) and 11.1.1.6.0 (in production, but will upgrade to 7). I came to the requirements need to do very complicated mapping using XSLT in BPEL. I would like to use some features of XPath 2.0.
Does SOA 11.1.1.6.0 or 11.1.1.7.0 have supported XPath 2.0? If not yet, is there any plan to support in the future?
Thank you in advance for your response,
    Alena Li

    Hi Alena Li,
Firstly, this is not Oracle support, this is Oracle forums...
    https://wikis.oracle.com/display/Forums/Forums+FAQ
SOA supports *some* features of XPath 2.0 in XSLT, the infrastructure also supports XSLT 2.0, but JDEV mapper does not...
    Check docs here...

  • Does BPEL support MTOM?

Does BPEL from 11g / Jdev / SOA support MTOM?
I need to know this before spending to much time as I need to call an external service that supports MTOM and the ideal situation would be to receive the attachment as MTOM from BPEL and pass it on to the external webservice as MTOM.
    Edited by: user9976753 on Aug 24, 2009 8:56 AM

    Hi,
I think I have figured out how to enable mtom on the BPEL service through Jdeveloper. It looks like when I add the mtom-encoding binding property with a value of true to the bpelprocess1_client_ep node under the *.bpel design view, the WSDL that is generated at run time contains this:
    <wsp:Policy xmlns:wsu="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-utility-1.0.xsd" wsu:Id="wsmtom_policy" xmlns:wsp="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/09/policy">
    <wsoma:OptimizedMimeSerialization xmlns:wsoma="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/09/policy/optimizedmimeserialization" xmlns:orawsp="http://schemas.oracle.com/ws/2006/01/policy"/>
    </wsp:Policy>
    and this:
    <wsp:PolicyReference xmlns:wsp="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/09/policy" URI="#wsmtom_policy" wsdl:required="false"/>
My question is, since the WSDL contains wsdl:required="false", how do I test MTOM through EM console?
The EM console only contains "WSDL Default", "None" and "Custom" options for testing MTOM and if I choose "WSDL Default" it does not use MTOM, I think because "wsdl:required" is set to false in the WSDL, meaning MTOM and non MTOM attachments are valid, and there appears to be no way to change wsdl:required="true" from JDeveloper since this entry in the WSDL is really generated at runtime. I have searched for another option in JDevloper to switch the value to wsdl:required="true" with no luck. I think I am fine with wsdl:required="false" as long as I can figure out a way to force use of MTOM in the testing utility inside the EM console. How do you guys test this?

  • Clearing out logs on filesystem and database

We've got SOA Suite up and running well enough, but I was wondering how to control the various log levels and more importantly how to delete old logs for the various components.
I assume that some logs are stored in the file system and some in the underlying SOA support database. Our test support database orabpel and users tablespaces have grown to 4.5 gig and 2 gig respectively. Clearly something is being logged in the database. Also, I can see entire soap messages looking at the SOA console app (can't remember which one) and I need to turn that logging down because our SOAP messages contain proprietary data that needs to be encrypted while at rest.
I've looked at some of the documentation and googled too. I must be dense or something because I'm not finding much. I did find a procedure to delete some logs on the file system, but it required a shutdown of one of the services. That can't be right.
What's the proper procedure for getting rid of old data in the database, file system logs and tuning down the content logged in the various SOA components?
Anyone have a pointer to the docs or a a how-to?
    Thanks

OK nothing like a little crisis get the mind working.
First, our policy set had logging turned on at the "envelope" level. The Oracle consultants who helped set this up didn't stress the logging pieces of the policy. Anyway I just disabled the logging steps in the policy definition, and committed.
Next I purged the logs using OWSM console Operational Management>Overall Statistics>Message Logs>Purge Message Logs.
Finally, I went into grid control and "reorganized the 4.5 gigabyte log_objects table which for some reason still had 10 rows after repeated purges.
My log_objects table is now 0.13 mb and NOT growing because I've turned off logging.
In my defense this is our first SOA implementation and we didn't get a lot of operational "knowledge transfer" from our consultants. Regardless, I'm a big dufus for not figuring this out before.
Hope this helps someone else in the future.

  • Combining two WLS domains

    Hello all,
I read [url http://www.deltalounge.net/wpress/2010/05/running-soa-suite-11g-workstatio/]this blog post about running SOA Suite on a workstation (don't worry, my question isn't about SOA Suite directly). One of the suggestions that the author makes is to combine the two domains that comprise an SOA server (the admin domain + the managed server running the SOA stuff) in order to reduce the runtime footprint; however, he doesn't say how to combine the domains.
I tried searching this forum and didn't come up with anything pertinent - neither did Google have any good answers for me. The two domains are created by the configuration wizard when you specifiy that you want a domain with SOA support.
So my question - how can I combine the two domains? Do I need to fuss around with the configuration files for the config wizard so that it creates a single domain, or do I do something afterwards in order to combine them after they are created? I'm perfectly happy for someone to say RTFM, but I couldn't find anything in the install guide for SOA suite or WLS either.
    Best regards,
    John

    Hi John
    1. Looks like there is some Confusion with the definition of the words like "Domain", "Server" etc when it comes to Weblogic Server. I am not sure about these words definitions for Oracle Application Server. I worked only with WLS. I can give brief overview of these words definitios in Weblogic Server architecture.
    2. Domain is nothing but a collection of ONE Default Server like AdminServer and Many extra managed servers which can be part of Cluster. When we create a Domain, we have an option like to create default Single Server Domain or Cluster Domain. Single Server Domain means this Domain will have only one single server. Cluster Domain means this Domain will have atleast one minimum AdminServer and many extra Servers (managed servers). These managed servers can be on same machine or on different remote machines also. Cluster domain is used for Load Balancing, Failover, High Throughput etc. We can deploy our appllications (EARs, WARs, JARs) to AdminServer or Managed Servers or both. So Domain is just like Entity that contains one AdminServer and extra managed servers. There are some things configuration wise that goes at Domain level like Security Features. If we configure say external LDAP to this domain, its used across all the servers. We configure the Datasources at Domain level, and target them to admin server.
    3. NOW lets come to SOA Domain, that is created for SOA Fusion middleware to deploy BPEL, WebServices etc. When we create a Domain and select SOA Project Facet (during domain creation process), Automatically this creates a Cluster Domain with minimum one Admin Server and one extra managed server by name SOA_Server1. For BAM, it creates another managed server something like BAM_Server1. Now remember that this is all configurable if we customize. But by default it creates a cluster domain. NOW most of the times, we choose AdminServer on one machine and SOA_Server1 on any other remote machine (that should have same version of WLS installed).
    4. I could not understand fully the blog notes from the link you gave above. There is Nothing like combining 2 Domains. We can have single domain with more managed servers like SOA_Server1, SOA_Server2, SOA_Server3 etc. But still all datasources like for RCU etc will be at domain level. If we have like say for example 3 datasources for each soa server, then from above link what I understood is create like 3 * 3 datasources with different Oracle SID Names. But still not did not get full picture.
    5. Worst case, still if we create more managed servers like SOA_Server1, SOA_Server2 etc etc for different developers, there is only one Adminstration console. So if they want to deploy their applications they all have to access the same AdminServer console. We can provide deploy scripts for them. But behind screens its the same admin server. For any debug purposes or heath monitor etc they have to access the single admin server only.
In conclusion, Domain is an entity with defaut one AdminServer and one or more extra managed servers (in case of cluster). There is nothing like combining or adding 2 domains together.
    Some links for quick reference:
Weblogic Server Domains in General: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/e13716/understand_domains.htm
On this below link, see the contents of the domain named SOA Domain that contains one Admin Server and 2 managed serves for BAM and SOA.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e13925/overview.htm#BABDFJAB
If the intention is really to reuse the domain created on one single machine for multiple users, then we need like to create Domain Template from one main SOA Domain. All other developers can use this template to create soa domains on their local machines.
    Thanks

  • Diferences between Sun Studio 8 And Netbeans

When to use one and not the other

    - Sun Java Studio 8 and NetBeans 4.1
SJS8 is based on NB4.1 and as such provides some additional modules over NB4.1.
NB4.1 is sufficient if you are interested in building standalone java applications and web applications against Sun Java System Application Server 8.1
You would use SJSE8 if you are interested in the additional functionality, like UML module, support for Sun Java System Web Server 6.1 etc.
SJS8 is essentially a companion product to Sun Java Enterprise System (http://www.sun.com/software/javaenterprisesystem/index.xml) and therefore provides, in addition to the appserver support in NetBeans 4.1, support for:
    SJS webserver
SJS portal server (for developing portals).
btw, webserver is support is available for NB4.1 from the update center.
    - They are both older versions. JSE8.1 (now in beta, soon to be released) is based on NetBeans 5.0 and is a companion product to the next release of JES.
    http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jsenterprise/downloads/index.jsp
You can use JSE8.1 for advanced features like UML and portletbuilder. (Webserver support is part of JSE8.1 but is available for NB5.0 from the update center).
    - If you are using NetBeans, consider moving to the latest version. 5.5:
    www.netbeans.org
There are several packs available (enterprise pack for SOA support, mobility pack for developing mobile apps, c/c++ pack etc) that you can choose to install on top of NB5.5.

  • PGP Encryption support in SOA Suite 11g

    Hi,
Looking for PGP encryption support in SOA Suite 11g as we have a requirement to encrypt the file using PGP encryption and send over SFTP.
I already went through some of the forums posts but they are date back to 2007, so just wanted to confirm if there is anything in recent releases of SOA Suite.
    - FTP adapter support or
    - OWSM suppport.
As far as i know, we have to install some PGP tool and write a script to encrypt/decrypt and call the script from BPEL. this conclusion is based on a stmt given in the OWSM 10g book by sitaraman.
Please provide your insights on this.
    Thanks

    Hi Siva,
I don't think still there is any support for PGP in Oracle SOA. You may use java for PGP encryption/decryption and transfer externally encoded messages over SFTP.

  • Shared execution context support in SOA Suite Products

    Context:
An enterprise application is likely to be made up of components that span across the BPEL, JEE (servlets and EJBs) and ESB containers with heterogeneous mix of technologies/computing languages (especially if part of that application is a legacy application), communication protocols, transport, QoS capabilities etc. The latter opens up a complex set of related issues such as assertion, ownership and enforcement of policies and contracts (both infrastructure-oriented such as security, privacy, manageability and business-oriented such as hours of business, goods return policies) that must be managed in order for the application to behave consistently end to end. In a way, this concept is similar to one of header vs payload distinction.
    Goal:
Yet those heterogeneous resources and technologies mentioned above should be abstracted (or externalized) from the business intent, ie the actual data and associated functional processing that deliver real benefits to business, as contextual information that may be both out-of-band and in-band (ie something that is created during the course of an interaction). In this way, the business components (BPEL scripts, presentation tier actions [as opposed to controllers], POJOs, or ESB mediation services implemented using XSLT scripts etc) can be reused in completely new unplanned scenarios with newer execution platforms/infrastructure since the latter can be made virtualized from the point of view of the business components.
To achieve the above, one of the key enabling factors is a shared execution context to capture such dynamic relationships between the application modules or components or services that is technology neutral but can be passed from one containers to the other seamlessly.
    Problem:
Having understood the context and goals, the big question is what is the level of support for a shared context implementation found in Oracle BPEL, JEE and ESB containers? Especially in the ESB container since it is the execution environment of all services.
This overarching problem may be decomposed to the following:
    * How far is loose coupling of services implemented? Strictly pure XML over HTTP or web services between tiers/containers?
    * If it is pure web services everywhere, what about the impedance mismatch problem between POJOs and XML?
    * If so, what is the form of a message dispatch/invocation framework to be put in place between tiers/containers? WSIF/AXIS? The choice will obviously be influenced by NFRs and to some extent the ease of integration of such frameworks with Oracle products runtime libraries.
    * How does a service lookup another, at design-time or run-time?
    * What mechanisms are there in each of the 3 containers above to allow for dynamic service assembly and dependencies injections?
    * How should a message be structured (header vs payload)?
    * How easy is the header or context that is most likely to be expressed in XML format be mapped to a run-time artifact in each of the containers? Is this mapping process lossless? This header is more than likely to carry a diverse range of information such as session and authentication tokens, management data, logs, audit trails, errors/exceptions and other QoS data.
In attempting to design and implement the above architectural requirements on Oracle SOA suite, I am unable to find any semblance of a design or runtime construct or artifact that is remotely close to what I would call a shared context. Should I conclude therefore that I would have to build the above facilities from ground up, instead of being able to customize a shared context construct or feature in Oracle SOA suite (the ESB container in particular)? I would have thought this is a fundamental capability of an integration platform such as Oracle SOA suite, am I right?

I supposed to make my previous question more concrete, the first answer I need before moving on to the rest of the bigger questions is this ...
What is Oracle’s recommendation for a services invocation framework between BPEL, JEE and ESB containers? From a quick read of Oracle Technet website, WSIF seem to be the preferred framework for this purpose. However, from an equally quick survey of such frameworks in use today outside of Oracle, WSIF does not seem to enjoy any widespread developer community support anymore and all talk in public forum seem to point to newer Apache Frameworks such as CXF which support emerging standards such as JAX-WS 2.0 What is the current stand of Oracle with respect to this matter?

  • BPM and SOA will Support Windows Server 2003 R2 x64

    Hello All -
Can you please tell me, BPM and SOA Suite (10g and 11g) can support the following Server?
    Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition Service Pack2.
    Thanks in advance.

Here's where you can find the compatibility matrix for Oracle BPM 10g with platforms, operating systems, JVMs and databases: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bpm/obpm-config-matrix-085247.html#bpms1032
Getting the same compatibility information for Oracle BPM 11g proves a bit more difficult. The closest I've come to finding a similar list is when I went to http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/E18558_01/fusion_requirements.htm. Sure others will have fond an easier route to the information for 11g.

  • Soa suite v11.1.1.4.0 supports soap 1.2?

    Hi,
    I am using following environment.
    SOA Version: v11.1.1.4.0 - 11.1.1.4.0_110106.1932.5682
    WebLogic Server 10.3.4.0
Does this soa suite(using bpel and owsm policies) version supports soap 1.2 ?
This is very urgent. Please provide the inputs.
    Thanks

Does this soa suite(using bpel and owsm policies) version supports soap 1.2 ?AFAIK, BPEL can be used to invoke the WS implemented with SOAP 1.2 but BPEL itself cann't expose it as a SOAP 1.2 WS. Raise an ER with support if you need any additional feature in the product.

  • Oracle SOA Suite 11g - Supported Databases??

    Hi All
I am trying my hands with Oracle SOA suite 11g on my laptop having 2GB of RAM...
List of soft wares installed for this are Oracle 11g database, JDeveloper, SOA Suite. On real time when developing some application system becomes too slow due to memory issue.
The Oracle DB eats up max memory...
So looking for a alternative light weight database alternative for Oracle SOA 11g suite like SQL server 2005.
The Repository Configuration Utility version RCU11.1.1.2 supports SQL Server 2005 database and create the schemas like Dev_SOAINFRA, DEVV_ORASDPM etc correctly...
But while configuring the new admin and SOA server via the wizards (start menu -> Oracle SOA 11g - Home1 -> Configure Application Server) the only database vendor drop down option available is Oracle , list does not contain other players IBM DB2, MS SQL Server , MySQL.....
So can somebody tell me for Oracle SOA Suite 11g, what is the light weight Database option is available so that I may go for SOA applications development on machine like my configuration....

Yes, All schema created successfully using the RCU tool, except the below warning.
