SOAP-XI-CRM via RFC:Exception: functiontemplate from repository was null

Hi
I am doing a simple SOAP-XI-CRM scenario where a webservice from the customer is fed into CRM using RFC in XI in a sysnc mode.
I am using a receiver RFC adapter which i've used in other scenarios as well and it always worked fine...but now for this scenario it gives the following error:
<?xml version="1.0"?>

I even tried to replace my RFC with other one and it again worked fine...could this be a RFC structure issue...i m not sure where to look for the problem as the CC is working fine with other RFCs.

    Hi all,
    I have found the problem.
The mapping to the RFC request was not creating the correct namespace prefix in the root xml element.
I have downloaded the file rfcnormalizer.jar from SAP note 730870 and used it in my interface mapping.  It solved the problem.

I think the logon details what you are giving in Receiver CC may be wrong. Check all those details like Application Server,System Number,User,Password and client.

  • Functiontemplate from repository was null   BAPI_ROUTING_CREATE

    Hi all,
i'm trying to set up communication between a third party sistem and R3 via XI. I'm using BAPI_ROUTING_CREATE but , when i send the XML message (you can read it below),   the rfc adapter starts this exception:
Delivery of the message to the application using connection RFC_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.af.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: functiontemplate from repository was <null>: com.sap.aii.af.rfc.afcommunication.RfcAFWException: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.af.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: functiontemplate from repository was <null>.
I'm sure that the bapi is defined into the R3 system, i checked via se37, and the Communication channel for the BAPI is set properly since it works with other bapis.
May be someone can help me?

    Hi Sriram,
Is RFC adapter is active/up and running?  RFC xml structure is incorrect?

    HI Venkat.
Please Refer SAP Note: 730870. Q16.
    Fyr from SAP Note:
    >Q 16: While sending a message to the RfcAdapter the error "... functiontemplate from repository was ><null>" is shown. Which reasons are possible?
    >
    >A: After receiving a message from the Adapter Engine, the RfcAdapter extracts the payload from the message. Normally this should be an XML document in the RFC-XML format. In this format the root element of the XML document represents the name of the function module and is enclosed in the fixed RFC namespace 'urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions'. But this only will be checked at a later >point, when the conversion from XML to native RFC is done. As prerequisite of this conversion the structures and types of the function module parameters has to be known. This is also called metadata or function template. To get this function template the name of the function module is extracted from the root element of the XML document and is queried against the metadata repository of the communication channel. If the metadata repository doesn't have a function module with this name, the exception named above is thrown. Possible reasons are
    >
    >The XML document, which was send to the RfcAdapter, is not a RFC-XML document. So the root element name of this document is not the name of a function module and thus can't be found in the metadata repository.
    >
    >The metadata repository doesn't contain an entry for this function module name. Normally the metadata repository will be an R/3 system and it's function module repository can be searched with transaction code SE37.

  • Receiver RFC error- RfcClientException: functiontemplate from repository wa

    Hi All,
I am in an R/3(IDOC) - XI - 3rd party(File) scenario. Need to do a lookup to R/3 from XI before file is sent to 3rd party system.
For RFC, I followed various blogs( currently using Michaels blog https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a03e7b02-eea4-2910-089f-8214c6d1b439 )
However I get the error in RWB:
"Error in processing caused by: com.sap.aii.af.rfc.afcommunication.RfcAFWException: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.af.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: functiontemplate from repository was <null>"
Came across note : 730870 and it talks of metadata refresh. So I reimported the function module into IR, reactivated the comm channel but still the same error.
Do you guys have any idea why it could be happening.
To sum up,for RFC lookup I have created
    1. RFC enabled FM in R/3
    2. Comm Channel in ID
    3. UDF (supplied the above comm channel and Buss syst name here and FM xml signature)
    4. Used the UDF in existing Message mapping
( I have not created any separate Interface mappings for this...is it OK)
( My RFC function module will return a single field, but when I import RFC FM in IR, I do not see the return field, it has only the FM incoming fields...is that OK.....??? )
    Any help/pouinters are welcome
    Many thanks
    Shirin

    Hi Praveen,
Yes its an R/3 - XI - 3rd Party scenario.
To cut the story short, I am doing lookup to R/3 Due to some file sequencing requirements. This is the only option left as getting this data in the IDOC initially didnt help.
As you have pointed, can you help let me know how can I correct it in the UDF. (I am a javao novice, so appreciate if you could help me with it)
I have attached the UDF code below.
    Many thanks

  • Error in RFC Receiver Adapter: functiontemplate from repository

    Hi Experts,
i am working on JDBC -> RFC Scenario, JDBC Sender Adapter is working fine, but RFC Receiver Adapter is throwing this error message... can some one help me to solve this issue...
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.af.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: functiontemplate from repository was <null>: com.sap.aii.af.rfc.afcommunication.RfcAFWException: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.af.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: functiontemplate from repository was <null>
    Thanks
    Srikanth

    Possible reasons are
The XML document, which was send to the RfcAdapter, is not a RFC-XML document. So the root element name of this document is not the name of a function module and thus can't be found in the metadata repository.
The metadata repository doesn't contain an entry for this function module name. Normally the metadata repository will be an R/3 system and it's function module repository can be searched with transaction code SE37.
Here my suggestion is, if you are using Java/xslt mapping, write your code in line with result structure of your mapping instead source pay load structure. May be helpful.
    Cheers

    Tony,
    Refer SAP Note: 730870. Q16.
    Fyr from SAP Note:
Q 16: While sending a message to the RfcAdapter the error "... functiontemplate from repository was <null>" is shown.
But this only will be checked at a later point, when the conversion from XML to native RFC is done.

  • Refresh buffer when rfc gets data from crm and the data was updated from R3

    hi all
I have a program in r3 for maintenance of partners, so the user can create or update a CRM partner from the R3 system. if you are updating a partner, the program gets the data from CRM via RFC and saves the changes via zBDoc. if the user modify a partner and then try to check if the info were updated, he needs to leave the transaccion and run it again in order to the RFC gets the data updated. how I can avoid to leave the transaccion? i tried with a buffer refresh and commit but it doesn't works.... any idea?

    Hi Alan,
THANK YOU for that hint. That brought me a giant step further, seriously! Many thanks! Now my report is running and hourly creating an instance, reeally nice!
But of course, the next problem is arising rapidly: Now that I got my report creating instances, the funny thing happening is the following: I created the WebI report with the WebI-Rich Client and then saved it to the server. In InfoView I scheduled the instance creation and the strange thing is now: The values differ. In the original report the values for some percentage ratios (e.g. 50%) show up as they should with four decimals: 0,5000 (German way of displaying numbers with decimals). BUT: In the instances of the same report, exactly these numbers would appear as 0,0000. So the numbers would just not be displayed! But all other numbers (all numbers not having decimals) would show up as they are supposed to even in the instances of the report.
This is kind of strange to me. Does anybody have a clue what the problem might be?
Many thanks again! And I hope I am not bothering you guys with these "newbie" questions.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Kai

  • SOAP Exception from XI to R/3 via RFC

    Hello,
We have a scenario where we are mapping SOAP Exception to RFC Exception.
Message status is application error in SXI_MONITOR and in payload,it shows correctly mapped RFC Exception (SOAP_EXCEPTION) with name and message.
But this message doesn't reach R/3.
Configuration is done as a registered server program in XI using a TCP/IP connection in R/3.
Can anybody please let us know what could be wrong over here?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Shweta

    Hi Swarup,
There is no error in RFC communication channel.
    The conditions are
    sy-subrc 1  for  Communication failure
    2 for system failure
3 for SOAP_EXCEPTION (passed in name field from XI)
but when I execute the report and this RFC is called,sy-subrc is always 0.
What could be the reason for this?
    Thanks for the help.
    Regards,
    Shweta

  • Gettin data from SAP R/3 4.7 unicode sys to SAP ERP non-unicode sys via RFC

We are trying to get data from SAP R/3 4.7 unicode sys to SAP ERP non-unicode sys via RFC. We are reading field from the database via FM and this field got converted by SAP standard Method (CL_ABAP_CONTAINER_UTILITIES=>fill_CONTAINER_C) from structure. When reading this field from ERP sys and converted back to structure using SAP standard Method the value is un-accurate, and different(blank) giving values.
How, if the data originally was a char or numeric it works fine, but not for decimal.
    best regards,
    Abu-Qaht

I have a range fields with different type of ranges, am saving these to the database by converting them to a string via the same method. I got the same problem so I tried to convert the string to xstring using function “SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING”, before send it to the other system, but the function raised an exception: CX_SY_CONVERSION_CODEPAGE

  • Character conversion problems when calling FM via RFC from Unicode ECC 6.0?

    Hi all,
I faced a Cyrillic character convertion problem while calling an RFC function from R/3 ECC 6.0 (initialized as Unicode system - c.p. 4103). My target system is R/3 4.6C with default c.p. 1500.
The parameter I used in my FM interface in target system is of type CHAR10 (single-byte, obviously).
I have defined rfc-connection (SM59) as an ABAP connection and further client/logon language/user/password are supplied.
The problem I faced is, that Cyrillic symbols are transferred as '#' in the target system ('#' is set as default symbol in RFC-destination definition in case character convertion error is met).
Checking convertions between c.p. 4103  and target c.p. 1500 in my source system using tools of transaction i18n shows no errors - means conversion passed O.K. It seems default character conversion executed by source system whithin the scope of RFC-destination definition is doing something wrong.
Further, I played with MDMP & Unicode settings whithin the RFC-destination definition with no successful result - perhaps due to lack of documentation for how to set and manage these parameters.
The question is: have someone any experience with any conversion between Unicode and non-Unicide systems via RFC-call (non-English target obligatory !!!), or can anyone share valuable information regarding this issue - what should be managed in the RFC-destination in order to get character conversion working? Is it acceptable to use any character parameter in the target function module interface at all?
    Many thanks in advance.

    hey,
I had a similar experience. I was interfacing between 4.6 (RFC), PI and ECC 6.0 (ABAP Proxy). When data was passed from ECC to 4.6, RFC received them incorrectly. So i had to send trimmed strings from ECC and receive them as strings in RFC (esp for CURR and QUAN fields). Also the receiver communication channel in PI (between PI and  RFC) had to be set as Non unicode. This helped a bit. But still I am getting 2 issues, truncation of values and some additional digits !! But the above changes resolved unwanted characters problem like "<" and "#". You can find a related post in my id. Hope this info helps..

  • JCO RFC Provider: "Bean not found" when calling EJB from ABAP via RFC

    Hello,
I'm having trouble calling an EJB in a CE 7.1 system from ABAP via RFC. I'm trying to use the JCO RFC Provider service, which mean that I want to expose an EJB so that it can be called via Remote Function Call.
I have documented everything, including the code and the deployment descriptors I wrote, in this thread in the CE forum: Jco RFC Provider: Bean not found
If there's any chance you can help, please do me a favour and look into the problem.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Vladimir,
Thank you very much, your help was immensely valuable.
I just had to add the function declaration to the Home Component interface, everything else was correct, and now it works.
    Cheers,
    Thorsten
