Social App Problem

Hi, I had a N8 phone. The problem is that the Facebook Social App doesn't show the news or updates of my friends and sent the following legend "Unable to Retrieve link element," please help, thanks.

N8/Anna Latest Social App Problems

1) Social App will constantly connect to the internet (usually staying connected for 20-30 seconds), disconnect and reconnect - even when the app is closed - regardless of whether I am near to a known WLAN or not. With Social closed even if I manually disconnect the connection it will automatically and instantly open a new connection.
I did a 5min test to watch how much my phone downloaded (with no apps open - when it should not have connected at all) and it came to 235kb. Over the course of a full month this would be just over 2gig!!
The only way I can get around this is to log out of the social networks completely - but this means I have to add my passwords any time I want to check my social.
Before you ask - widgets are set to offline mode, no other programs are running (including push-mail).
2) Sloooooow!
Anyone else had the same? Anyone know of any decent alternative apps which would work? I've checked the Ovi Store and nothing is jumping out at me.

If you don't mind paying £1.50 you could try Fmobi available in the Ovi store. It has received some very good feedback from those that are using it.

Social app problem - bug!

After using Facebook on Social my C7 tries all the time to connect to wifi, even when forcing to shut it down. I have to reestart my phone. Symbian Anna 022.014 with Service Pack.

NOKIA SOCIAL APP NOT WORKING

Hello i have a NOKIA 500 BELLE and i resantly upgraded the NOKIA 500 BELLE to the NOKIA 500 BELLE REFRESH and its working very well but today i took a photo and it was stored in the gallery i went into the gallery and tapped on the photo i just took then went to the icon that lets me share the photo in my social networks i left a caption and tapped on share then the NOKIA SOCIAL APP appears and i get a message saying UNABLE TO START so now i can not share my photos on my social networks. I there any way i can delet it from my mobile and then reinstall it again or is there a other way i can correct it? Regards Leslie.

N8: Problem social app

I´ve got a problem with the social app on my N8. The widget on the startscreen is updating but when I click on it to open the app I get a scriptwarning. I´ve reinstalled the firmware thru Ovi Suite and thru the phone but the problem is still there.
Anyone who understand what I meen and have a way to solve it....................

Office Web Apps Server 2013 - Word Web App - Problem with Tab space

Hello We have Office Web Apps Server 2013 running with SharePoint 2013. Users Editing a Word document with Office Web Apps, can't use "Tabs", any Word document with Tabs; the tabs are replaced with a single space.
Has anyone noticed this? Is this a bug?

Tab Keyboard shortcut for editing document content .

Social App not working even after update from noki...

nokia n8 social loading feeds.
My wife and i have the same problem now, only last week she said my phone will not work on facebook the widget on main home screen will not load feeds at all, and the widget is now blank saying refresh all the time, so i linked the phone up to the computer and did a scan for new updates with nokia updater which you can download from nokia site.
Its now the 4th jan and the phones still will not work even after and update from a socail app,
nothing , facebook will load after a few pushes, and looks like its loading till it says loading feeds then it says the (wording unable to load news feeds)

Uninstall the social app and reboot your phone. Then go to software updates and reinstall from the offering given in the updates. I've uninstalled and reinstalled social twice and it has worked both times.

Nokia N8 Social App crashing

Recently everything was working fine including after updating to the latest version of social whatever version that was. Today i wanted to link some contacts with facebook account tried going into social and it kept crashing. At first it was just a white screen with back button and menu/action button on the bottom. After several uninstall re install uninstall and re install from computer, the "Welcome to Social" screen shows for about a second and then crashes. I really don't want to reset everything and start again, as my contacts synced to gmail servers and last time i restored it it duplicated everything in my contacts, it is a real pain.Any one else having this problem? how can i fix this?...
side note might not be related i use to have this application called prayer times now its starting to show a white screen this was synonymous with the social app.

I have had the same problem, always having to enter my password. Solution: don't log out; instead, just exit (from the bottom right).

My nokia 202 some application are deleted.
Chat, social app is facebook this apps provided by nokia and not available anywhere
and other are nokia browser and nokia store.
I also update my software via nokia suite and nokia software updater but it not return.
Please help me download this app give me original app link of them...

Nokia 701 Social app stopped working

One fine day, the Nokia Social app in my Nokia 701 simply stopped working; tapping on the icon shows the "welcome to social" screen and then goes back to previous screen. Why? Is anybody else having this problem?
I have uninstalled the app, restarted the phone and reinstalled it but the problem persists. I keep my phone software updated from time to time.
Any possible solution known to anybody?

Welcome to the Nokia Forums!
Have you tried to perform a soft reset using the code *#7870# security code 12345 by default.
This will revert your phone settings to factory settings hwoever it will not remove any of your data.
If it doesn not work, please plug your device into Nokia Suite and reinstall the phone software. Before any steps please create a backup of your device.

N8 Social App- Script Alert

So i buy a N8 thinking it is going to be an excellent phone. It lasts 3 weeks before it freezes and wont turn back on, so i take it to a Nokia shop, they say we can't fix it so here is a NEW phone.
I get home to find out my NEW N8 is only partly formatted, whenever i try to get into the Social App i get the message- 'Script Alert: Sorry, please uninstall and reinstall Communitites'.
This is absolutley BS, so much for the new phone..... i ring Nokia for them to say sorry we are waiting for an update- i have been waiting 2 weeks. Some customer service would be nice Nokia.
Someone please help, i just want a phone where i can listen to music, take great photos and update my Facebook or Twitter on the go! The N8 is great for the first 2, but the Social App has to be fixed!!!!

I had the same problem with my C7. I guess there is something wrong with the Social app and at some point there will be an update for it. Nokia is doing what it usually does, which is being compeletely silent about the problem even if they are working on the problem. This is complete BS from Nokia, they are terrible at customer service.
I presume you've tried to uninstall/reinstall the application but it didn't help. Here's what helped me in that situation:
1) Do a restore factory settings (there is two options there, 'restore' and 'delete and restore', choose the 'delete and restore').
2) Uninstall Social
3) Launch Applications > Tools > Software updater and update Social.
This restored the Social app, but the widget was gone and I haven't been able to restore it yet, but at least the program works.

N8 Social App Err-Script Alert

I too have this problem suddenly this weekend. Have been running my N8 for several months without this kinda problems. Have done nothing special and all of a sudden got the script error of 'uninstalling .. re-install'. Re-installing it with 'SW Update' only works when manually removing 'Social' AND 'Social Installer' (in dutch the latter is something like 'Inst.Social ..'). This will install version 1.2.163. But this still leads to the script error.
Other solutions include manually installing "Social+Apps.zip", with intermediate reboots. This will install version 1.2.144 first and then 1.3.143. I have done this with all sorts of combinations with(out) reboots, but none of this helps.
Installing 'Social' via Ovi-store of now, will result in the latest version (with an 'Anna' alike icon) 1.3.215. However this one also doesn't work anymore in this case. It will just give a script-alert like 'plug-in not loaded .. resuming in demo mode'.
Searching on the net for solutiond, this one with the Factory reset (incl. delete data!) is the only one that seems to work .. but only when you don't restore your backup. I have read about someone who done this and it keeps working, but perhaps this person has done a partial restore? Don't know. Anyway, I had recently backuped all my things. I did remove the 'Social' app (and some dutch app called 'Buienradar' also - this one has given me black screens ever since) So my backup was quite clean. I did the 'Factory reset' plus 'Delete data' which gives an initial clean N8. After this even the latest version of 'Social' (1.3.215) works like a charm. And also my ducth app 'Buienradar' worked normally again. But .. after restoring my backup the problem is back...
So it didn't solve anything for me ( And on the bad side, I also lost all my conversations from 'Whatsapp' during this backup/restore (wihich is weird on it's own also).. ( But anyway, perhaps someone has some other ideas on this? Perhaps a restore without 'application settings'? I don't know. Have spent soooo many hours on this stupid issue already, so I would very much like to have a working solution, please.

E7-00: Cannot connect to Facebook with Social Apps...

Dear all,
with my Nokia E7-00 I cannot connect via the newest version of Social Apps with Facebook. Every time I try to enter my details for my facebook account, the program returns "login or password incorrect" (correct wording in English unknow to me as I use the German version).
But, my password is correct. I am sure about this because every time I try to login with Social Apps, I receive an email from Facebook saying "someone logged into Facebook via Ovi by Nokia from an unknown device".
Further interesting issue: If I enter the details for another Facebook account owned by my wife, I can connect without any problem.
That means to me that my specific account (a pretty old one (5 years)) seems to be not the right one for Nokia's Social App.
With my Android phone I can use the built-in Facebook app without any problem.
Any ideas as to what might cause this? Re- and re-re-installing the Social App does not help.

I found the solution for this problem.
The application platform should be enabled in the facebook account as Ovi by Nokia is one of them.
I had it disabled for reducing spams.
In your Facebook account, Go to
Account
Privacy Settings
Edit your Settings under "Apps and Websites" at lower left corner
Click Turn on all platform apps.
Then your facebook will login under Social Networking Client provided by Nokia without "Invalid username or password. Tip. Password is case sensitive."
I created a new facebook account and it logged in the very first time and i knew it must have been the account security or application platform. The latter was the one. <

Social app Nokia E7 issues

The app in general is not too bad. I have an issue with the facebook app. It shows notifications, but if I click on notification, it either takes me to my wall (not the post/photo) or states something about an invalid action. Is anyone else having this issue, or found a solution?

Its my Personal Opinion that Default Social Apps in Nokia smartphones are generally not good,
they HangUp, lacks performance & stability and they also sumtimes Malfunctions.
As you mentioned, i had the same problem with twitter app.
As this cant b solved coz of Issues & errors in App itself.
U can try Deleting & installing agian from Nokia Store...
Or Better try a Third-party app for Symbian Like Gravity (Its the Best & worth)

Social app error

Hi, i tried the social app today for the first time and had to find out that its not working on my phone. When i try starting it, it loads the ovi nokia background then followed by an error message: "scriptsignal: Sorry please uninstall and reinstall Communities." I tried to uninstall and reinstall it with both the update app and the 1.2 file i found in the forum. it installs successfully and reboots, but it still shows the same error everytime.
has anybody an idea what the problem could be?
i got my phone on wednesday and didnt use any soft or hardresets so far. My connections are limited to wlan only. The facebook bookmark/widget works fine.
