If you want to integrate like and share button of facebook in your ATG application then you can easily use the facebook SDK javascript for this purpose.

The new Address Book has all those swanky fields for Twitter account names and social media links. Anyone know a quick way to import that info or is it going to require a whole lot of manual copying and pasting? Thanks!

OE does not run on Windows 7. So what product are you upgrading from. Thunderbird needs to be on the same machine as Outlook e3xpress to import anything. If you have it running in a virtual machine (XP Mode) then you will have to figure out how to get Thunderbird to run in the same virtual machine (I have no idea)

The OPA Jave code like almost any other out there has a public interface which is documented and a private implementation which isn't There are various ways of hiding the 'private' implementations and indeed the Java SDK do quite a good job at this but I think its fairly safe to say that API's that arn't documented in the JavaDoc aren't documented for a good reason.
Most (but possibly not all) things you need to do are achievable through the public, documented API's.

Pulling data social media websites in Endeca Index

We have a requirement to integrate the data from social media websites like twitter with the structured data available in house. We understand that CAS has to be installed to perform this operation. But how do we go about configuring the software to link it to websites? Are there any guides available? Also are any there any special considerations to pull data from websites in Endeca index?

CAS is not a firm requirement here, by any means. If you're interested in the raw social media feeds like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc., web crawling may not be the way to go, actually. Web crawling parses HTML, which is a fragile, unstable data acquisition approach. If the HTML changes, your web crawl may "break" and need continuous reconfiguration. Most all of the social media sites on the web offer APIs by which to acquire data which will lead to a more robust acquisition approach. Integrator has an SDK by which you can create custom data readers to read directly from the social media sites APIs. Additionally, rumor has it that the next version of OEID v2.4 will offer a JSON data reader that will read the sparly attributed data feeds offered by the social media sites.

We actually have custom readers which can consume social media JSON output directly from the APIs of the social media sites themselves or from social media aggregators like DataSift, Gnip, or Oracle's own Collective Intellect. If you must go about this through a web crawl, putting those records into a record store may be overkill. The CAS web crawler is not capable of doing partial web crawls so, in my experience, writing your crawl output to a record store doesn't buy you anything over writing those web crawls to a XML file.

Dreamweaver + Twitter + Facebook & Social Media

I have customized a Twitter widget and Facebook plug-in for the page but, ahhhhhh, I can't get Dreamweaver to align the widgets. Ideally, I would like the Facebook and Twitter widget side by side but can only get them to appear on the page under each other. I am somewhat new to Dreamweaver and am using an older version at work (cs3). Any and all help and suggestions are welcome and appreciated!!!

I would use divs creating a rt-hand column.
The first would hold the Facebook iFrane - give the box a width of maybe 300 and float it right.
The next is for the Twiiter wiggie - all you have to do with that one is specify a right margin, maybe 300 again or a little more,
Just tweak these values until it looks right.
You could even wrap both of these in another div container with an absolute width for more control, but I don't think that's required. And if I'm not mistaken, this is the classic faux-column technique?

If I wanted a signature with a logo, I'd create an HTML document containing text and an embedded image. Adding, for example, facebook and twitter icons would be done in just the same way, by embedding their icons into the same HTML signature document.

If you're a web developer, then you already know what apps to use.
If you're a designer (like me) then Muse CC is your weapon of choice.
One simple strategy would be to create your web site, include all the articles you want to distribute, then link to each specific article/web page from your pages on Facebook, Twitter, etc.

YouTube is also your good friend when it comes to learning Muse.

Why can't I see the social media widgets in Firefox?

I have noticed that the social media widgets "follow" on both FB and Twitter seem to show up fine in Chrome but fail to appear in Firefox. What can I do to rectify this?

This can be due to browser plugin issue. Please try to check browser settings and then view again.
If same issue, then provide us the page url.

Sorry forgot to say the java buttons dont work - facebook and twitter - the manually placed ones - vimeo and youtube work - so safari doest like java?

Recently I have been conducting some research on Social Media trends that have grown in popularity especially this year and look likley to continue to grow.
Here are the top 5 trends that most experts recognise as an area of focus for all social media specialists. I would love to hear some feedback on this and see of you are using any of these channels on a day to day basis and keeping up with the trends.
Twitter - Real Time Twitter Visual Advertising rapidly increasing and becoming more and more noticeable. Visual content is KING! as it gives you the ability to communicate complex messages very quickly. This is essential and is becoming more popular because it allows Digital Marketers to grab the attention of users quickly and swiftly.
Google Plus - The growth of Google Plus has man predicting that it will pass Facebook in users in 2016. A lot of people agree that it is time to enter the fray as along with many benefits that come with Google Plus the main benefits includes cirlces & niche content as well helping with your SEO.
Facebook Advertising: 90% of Facebook's revenue comes from Facebook advertising and the numbers are expected to keep growing. My experience with Facebook advertising is that it does work but does it work for you?
The downfall of Facebook Advertising is the constant change and tweaking that continuously happens. From the changing of the interface to the changing of ads it does become frustrating at times. The thought of limiting free traffic to your pages is a big NO-NO for me as it pushes you to pay in order to build a fan base that you've worked hard for.

Business Catalyst and Social Media Updating

I'm new to Business Catalyst and aside from link integration between BC hosted websites and Facebook, etc, is there an application that would allow automated post updates to the primary social media pages, similar to functionality that third-party email marketing service providers are offering. If not yet available, can anyone recommend an add-on service that might expand the social media reach. This seems to come up in every client consultation.

First you have payment difficulty so credit and the Edge program are not available to you. You have to be credit worthy to get any upgrade, unless you can pay full price for all those new devices.

You are trying to get new contract plans, but since you are having paying on time and in full issues you will not get extended credit from any carrier.
What I would do is go and port out to Boost or Virgin Mobile where you pay a reduced cost for each device and get unlimited everything for $40 to $50 a month, it is pre pay so if you don't pay you get cut off.
Verizon although with the best coverage is also the highest priced.

Firefox redirects to social media search on Google because McAfee blocks it at my instruction

We have regularly updated Firefox on Windows Vista, with McAfee provided by our ISP (BT, a UK telecoms ISP). Because of our young children, and my dislike of having to be wired into every little thing, social media is generally disallowed, except that I have basic Facebook enabled to contact our daughter at university. Chat is turned off permanently. I don't Twitter or any other social media.
Quite a few months ago we went through a spate of faults where a webpage would load, and within seconds redirect to a Google search based on (at that time) a Facebook search. The exact search seemed to depend on hidden criteria within the stream that the Facebook app was trying to access. Then it stopped for a while. I assumed that my tweaking the McAfee to block social media and allow Facebook had improved matters.
Today the problem has resumed, but this time it's Twitter that's playing up. I got several redirections from pages for the "Uplifting" TV Channel (redirected from a friend's Facebook link) to a Google search for "https://twitter.com/i/jo" with results like:

This happens within 2 or 3 seconds of the page loading, and if I back-button, it just redirects over and over again.
How can I block the social media so that Firefox does not treat it as a Google redirection?
Incidentally - your system knows me under my true email. But it refuses to allow me access despite 2 password resets. I've had to create disposable email and a slightly different name to register this question.
Please be patient with me if I can't respond straight away to a request for further information. I've got some very complex situations going on which are not made much easier by the end of the summer holidays and the start of school in 8 days... Most sites wouldn't redirect you away, so I'm suspicious that it could be due to one of your add-ons.
Could you try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized add-ons on these two tabs:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category<br>
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
If a link to restart Firefox appears above one of the disabled extensions, go ahead and click that as the last step. Any change?
Also, sorry about the forum problems. Not sure what is going on there.

Custom social media buttons

Hello Dreamweavers,
I am working on a site that will have twitter and facebook buttons.
I tried the buttons provided by twitter and facebook: For twitter the "tweet" button and for facebook the "like" and "send" button as you generate on their sites.
There is a lot not to like about this: You don't control the looks (they are loaded through a script), the buttons facebook and twitter are different in size, they come with a ton of code that is loaded from the facebook servers and thus seem to slow down loadtimes.
The facebook button is quite wide and does not go well with my fluid design.
I would like to replace them with my own.
The fb and twitter scripts also send info, like the page you come from, username etc, so that users can quickly send that page to their followers.
The company that the site is for does not have a facebook page or twitteraccount.
We don't want a counter with the buttons.
So how can I have my own buttons and still have (some) of the functionality that the FB and Twitter buttons offer?

don't understand why you are adding buttons to a web page whose company does not have social media accounts for those buttons to link to?
Actually is not really a real "company" it is more like a collaboration of people with an idea that won a price with that.
Visitors cab join in if they want.
So it is a "social" thing, but all the info will be on the site.
The people that will visit the site are typical users of twitter and facebook (and Linkedin) and will most likely use that to share the site.
In any case, you can design any button you like and change the URL to link directly to the facebook or twitter page. It does not need to have the functionality but you mention you want to keep some of that functionality - what parts exactly?
For instance that the URL of the page that you want to share is sent.
And I set up the site with Open Graph, so you can "send" the page complte with a description, url and small picture.
I must add that this whole social media thing is unknown territory for me, I am reading up on it right now.
So perhaps I should rephrase my question:
Do you or did you implement social media buttons in the website you built and if yes, how did you do that and why?

New Droid Turbo takes forever to load pictures on social media? ...and other questions!

Hey all, I just got my new Droid Turbo a week ago and I've noticed some shortcomings that I'm not sure how to handle. They're not major, but they irritate me. I'll just list them...
-On social media (Instagram and Facebook specifically), the pages load fine but most/all of the pictures take nearly a minute or more to load, if they load at all. Never had an issue with Samsung or previous Motorola phones doing this.
-I occasionally get a popup error that "Contacts has stopped" even when I'm not accessing it or the program is closed (it usually happens when I'm making a call).
-I have a setting to make my Gmail mail sync automatically, but it doesn't always do it, and the phone is supposed to notify me but only does it sometimes.
-How to make "folders" in photo Gallery?
-Google Play music is synced, but doesn't play AT ALL...just "thinks."
I think that's all I have for now. Sorry it's so much, but I appreciate any help you all have! Thanks!!

Congratulations on your new Droid Turbo. We'd love to help make sure your new phone is working properly. For the photos in Instagram and Facebook, Is it that some photos appear and others do not? How are photos in other applications or different websites? As for the Gmail sync, have you checked the settings under Gmail to ensure the sync options are set to your preference. In regards to the folders for the gallery, folders are usually created on their own and based on where pictures are created. For the Play Music, what happens when you try to play songs?

Also SAP's Data Services can help parse twitter posts.
