SocketException * 2 please help

Question

Can anyone help with this long time problem. I am trying to write a small HTTP proxy app' to filter content using Sockets etc. Therefore I have a DataInputStream reading from a web server following a GET, and a DataOutputStream to write back to the client the contents received. I get the following two SocketExceptions on some sites producing lossy content. Furthermore cannot retrieve sites that are JavaScript / DHTML heavy.Some sites are OK and work well, but others stall part thru' download.Why is this when I am reading and writing at byte level?

I'm trying to do a small http proxy in Java too.
At the moment I have a piece of code very similar to the above code, using DataInputStreams and DataOutputStreams:
(sin and sout are the input and the output sockets)

byte[] buff = new byte[2048];
DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream( sin.getInputStream( ) ) ;
DataOutputStream out = new DataOutputStream( sout.getOutputStream( ) );
while (( i = in.read(buff))!= -1) {
     out.write(buff,0,i);                                             
It normally works fine but when 'in' stream is a picture like http://www.google.es/images/hp0.gif (a gif image of the Google webpage) it stops for at least one minute waiting for -1.
Does anybody knows where the problem is?
