Soda in the macbook lcd HELP!!!

Ever since the applecare on my macbook ended i have had nothing but bad luck. Recently my macbook's charger melted. Now after a little spill of soda in between the keyboard and lcd area soda made its way into my lcd. I need to know some way to fix this, it occurred less than 5 minutes ago. The spill is growing larger, and is not going to get smaller from anything i tried.
It figures i just got back from the apple store and said "I don't plan to have more issues with this laptop, why should i buy apple care" :/

    1. Yes, unless a problem occurs.
    2. No, you’re not.
    3. Yes.

  • Will apple replace my macbook lcd display if still under warranty ?

    Please help me ASAP

Is the MacBook LCD physically damaged? Physical damage is not covered by the Terms and Conditions of your limited warranty.
If the MacBook LCD is flawed or defective then it's replacement would be covered by your limited warranty.
    The limited warranty can be found here;

    I hope this helps!

I have two Macs, an i-Mac flat screen that runs on OSX.4.11 and i-tunes 9 and a MacBook Intel Duo that runs on Snow Leopard and i-tunes 10.  I have carefully followed all the Advanced instructions for sharing music libraries, which is not a problem; however I am unable to transfer following the instructions to drag the music I want from t he i-Mac flat screen library onto the MacBook. Help! Please! Also, my new Nano will not accept i-tunes 9 which is where I have my old i-pod contents stored--the old i-pod died.  Many thanks!

UPDATE: I disconnected the iPhone, restarted it, and tried again to sync it with the iTunes library on the iMac. This time it worked
Now I'm going to try to transfer the music into the iTunes library on the PowerBook, then sync with that, delete the library on the iMac, and sync the (hopefully full of all my music) iPhone with the iMac again.

  • Need Help to Disable the Native LCD on a MACBOOK 13"

    Dear All;
I have a macbook 13" from 2010 which I have been using.  I recently got myself a Mini-Display to DVI adapter which I used to want to connect the Macbook to an external monitor.  I managed to do it but how do I disable the Macbook's native 13" LCD monitor WITHOUT having to physically close the Macbok.  I still like to use the native keyboard without having to install another usb keyboard.
    Thanks
    Regds;
    DWYL

You can't disable it but you can make it a secondary screen. In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the external monitor and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen.
The external monitor will now have the Dock and Menu Bar and windows will open on it. But you can move the cursor to the MacBook screen and move windows from the external monitor over to the MacBook screen.

  • Using the macbook pro with lcd drain the battery?

hello guy i bought a macbook pro 13 last week and according to what they say  is up to 7 hours and im only getting like  5 just using the web or chatting or doing very basic stuff, i also  want to know if using the macbook pro connected to the lcd tv drain ur batter y too. thanx

I cannot quite undertsand all you just said.  Some punctuation to break up into sentences will help.
But if you are trying to say "I hope I did not spend so much for a product no beter than a Windows PC", then I think you will eventually find your $$ were well spent.
As I said, my work-supplied 14 in Windows PC laptop gets  at most 4.5 hours.  I get 5-6 under average use with my 15 in MBP.
Hang tight, you will firgure it all out.

  • Spilled soda on my Macbook--- HELP!!! WONT TURNBACK ON !!!

    Hi,
Just spilled soda on my macbook and the screen went black and I can't turn it back on.. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Yeah, I also learned about that the hard way. I once tripped over the carpet on my way into a room where my tiny Sony laptop was on and waiting for me, and splashed water all over it. I freaked and sent it to Sony repair, and they told me it needed a new motherboard, which would cost $800. The laptop was 3 years old at the time, so I just bought a new one, though I couldn't afford it, and told Sony to send the old one back unrepaired. A week later, I tried to turn it on just to see if I could get it up long enough to get data off my hard drive, and it WORKED! Of course, I don't know how much longer it would have worked before rust from the spill corroded the circuits, but at the time I was a little upset that I had just spent so much on a new one.
Another time I put my cell phone in the washing machine, and again, 3 days later, after a thorough drying-out, it worked, and this time it worked for 2 more years, with the only damage being a slightly sticky #9 key.
Since then, I've read that the key to preserving any possible recovery of a wet laptop is NOT to turn it on until it's completely dried out, and to take out and wipe off any removable parts, including battery, hard drive, memory chips, and keyboard keys, as soon as you can.
And, of course, you shouldn't eat or drink or put glasses or bottles down near a laptop. But ** does happen.
And the reason I didn't suggest going to Apple straight off is exactly what other people said -- the spill will void your warranty, and repair is likely to be as expensive as a new computer.

i have one of the old macbooks and wish to hook it up to my tv. do i need a mini dvi to hdmi adapter plus a 3 rca phono lead with a jack for the sound. please help as im useless at this stuff. cheers

First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports. Each would take a different adapter to connect with the TV.

  • New 13" Macbook Pro trying to connect to a Panasonic VIERA TC-L42U30 as second monitor. I've used multiple hdmi-thunderbolt/mini displayport adapters and multiple hdmi cables and still no success. The Macbook does not sense the second monitor (TV). Help?!

I've been a Mac since 2008, so I know my way around the system pretty well. This issue, however, has me stumped. I had an iMac until now and only now am I experiencing some difficulty with my new MacBook Pro. The model I have is the newest 13" Macbook Pro model and I'm trying to connect a Panasonic VIERA TC-L42U30 42" HDTV as a second monitor via the Thunderbolt port.
It worked the first two times and hasn't worked since, after 10-15 attempts with different configurations, turning things on n off, restarting the mac, unplugging the cables, adapters, TV, resetting the P RAM, etc... I've used multiple hdmi-thunderbolt/mini displayport adapters and multiple hdmi cables and still no success. No matter what I do, the Macbook does not sense the TV as a second monitor anymore.
I took the MacBook Pro to the Apple Store, and their "genius" there had it working fine with a DVI connection to a regular monitor. The Panasonic TV I have has HDMI connections and one VGA connection which does not support HD, but no DVI option. I want an HD connection to mirror or extend my MacBook Pro screen. At the Apple Store, they didn't have a Thunderbolt/Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, so he could not try that out for me.
Anyone else have this configuration or another similar one with a Panasonic HDTV?
    Ideas? Suggestions? Anything?! Help!!
P.S. I'm running Mountain Lion, if that wasn't already obvious. Everything is up to date in my App Store as well.
    Thanks!

    Hi There,
I have had the exact same issue but with a projector.
The issue lies with Mountian Lion 10.8.2.
I tried many a combination with no luck to get HDMI working.
Took my mac into the apple store and came to the conclusion it was the software, so I asked them to install 10.8 onto it (this is destructive so a backup is a must)
Bought my macbook home and voila, now displaying through my projector.
There is a small graphics update after 10.8.1 which seems to be the cause.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

Are you wanting to import iCal to the MacBook Air. Since iCloud doesn't work with 10.6 OSX you probably don't have any data in iCloud yet?

    Hello John...
You may have a Safari third party add on installed that was compatible with the previous version of Safari but not 5.1. Try troubleshooting > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

  • My Late 2008 MacBook Pro has started rebooting itself due to kernel panics.  Can anyone review the log to help me troubleshoot?

I'm not sure if any recent activity spawned this activity but here's what I've done lately that's new...
I booted to the recovery disk and and ran the disk repair utility on my hard drive.  Then I ran the RecoveryDiskAssistant to create a bootable USB thumb drive, and then I attempted to create a disk image on an external USB hard drive.  About an hour after I started creating the image I aborted the image creation process.  Both the MacBook Pro and the external hard drive were very hot.
I was experimenting, attempting to create the disk image file onto an external hard drive that is half the size of my existing main hard drive, and was not sure the image would fit, so aborted the process before it completed once I realized it might be an overnight task.  I'm wondering if the heat caused by the intense disk activity may have cooked something on my logic board.  Or maybe somethign completely unrelated is the cause, like a recent patch or software update perhaps???
Can anyone help me identify a possible cause of the kernal panics from the two most recent log files attached below?

Answering my own question...  I did more research and have a theory that my Time Capsule hard drive may be causing the kernal panics due to a disk error.  I ran the disk utility to repair the time capsule drive (actually a 3TB Seagate USB drive plugged into my Airport Extreme router).  I plugged the drive directly into my MacBook Pro and ran the repair utility.  It noticed a "minor header" issue and repaired it.  I'm leaving all USB and Firewire devices unplugged for a while and will see if the panics return.  Six years without any problem with my MacBook.  Love Apple.  I'd get a new MacBook, but this one just keeps on working...

  • I can´t sync iCal events written in the iphone4 to the macbook ical, but conversely from macbook to iphone there´s no problem, can somebody help me?

Thanks for your answer! I tried as you say, erase the Sync History, but now does not sync any calendar, only displays the birthday ...do not know whatelse to try.

I took my iMac to be fixed and when I got it back, mail was not set, so I called Apple and they helped me set up mail. Now the new mail goes to trash and there is no number by the 'inbox' to tell me how many new messages I have. I cannot save a draft to 'drafts.' There is a large number by 'trash' (I think all mail went to trash - including drafts). When I send myself an emai, it goes to trash also. This is on both my iMac (the one taken in) and my MacBook Pro (same emails) which was not taken in.
I went to 'rules' but have no idea what to do there. There are no rules in the rule box. When I click 'add rule' it puts 'rule 1' in the rule box, but since that was not there when I took it in, I delete it to have an empty rule box.
Can someone pleasehelp me. I am completely stupid with all this. Do not under stand what is suppose to be set up in 'rules.'
    Thank you so much,
    Arudi

Now new mail is coming to both computer's inboxes but there is no number on the stamp icon on dock to show number of emails on the iMac. Nor is there a number by either email address under MAILBOXES/inbox (sidebar) on the iMac. This number is showing on MacBook Pro.
I also can save drafts now on both computers.
Seems the Pro is fixed and the iMac is only missing the numbers on dock icon and by addresses in inbox.
Now that the problem is less, I feel i am wasting your time but will continue so maybe I can get those numbers back.
Two emails > AT&T email and gmail.
Apple's Mail program for email - yes, and gmail.
    IMAP for both accounts.
Did not change mail configuration on MacBook.
The iMac and MacBook Pro have the same mail configuration except in Accounts/mailbox behaviours/store draft messages on the server was not marked on MacBook > it is now.
'Store junk messages on the server' was marked on one computer for gmail, but is unmarked on both now.
On the iMac, Accounts/Accounts info/Outgoing mail for gmail is smtpgmail.
On the MacBook Pro for gmail it is smpt.gmail.com (plus) my email address.
Rules/Add rule window, on the MacBook third line is 'Any Recipient', on the iMac third line is 'From."
The last box on that line has my email address on the MacBook.
The last box on that line has the last address I sent an emil to (last night), on the iMac.
On the last line on iMac, no box was selicted for 'to mailbox' > I choose 'inbox' because it is on the MacBook Pro.
Now I have a Rule #1 and am not sure I should have because there was no rules marked when I took the computer in.
Thank you. I relized I had done the labeling wrong when so much of my question appeared twice and no one else's did. I know how to do it now.
    Thank you so much,
    Arudi

  • HT1420 I have the new version of the macbook pro and I cannot find authorize this computer anywhere on itunes. I have read the directions multiple times and still cannot find it. Please help!

I have the newer version of the macbook pro and I have read the directions on how to authorize your computer to let you download previous song purchases from icloud onto your laptop, but I cannot find where it says "authorize this computer" at all. I have looked for it everywhere and still cannot find it. Please help!

    Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
