Soft/Haze text and grapics on LED LCDs with Firefox 4
Hello,
Ever since I started using Firefox 4 I had this problem. The text and are kind of very soft and blurred when viewed from a LED LCD. I initially thought this must be an isolated problem until I checked it with another brand new laptop.
It too had the same problem. And it really irritates me. And I can clearly see the difference when viewing the same web page from different browsers on the same PC.
You can even eliminate a graphic card issue as both of the laptops I tested use different graphics (vendor and models).
I don't know how many others faced this issue, but I would suggest looking into this.
I don't know how successful the images are but they show the difference I mean. One is taken from Chrome and the other from Firefox 4.
Edit:
Just previewed the images from FF, the difference is even more. Check this same page from another browser or an older version of FF.

I have a sync account and used to keep sync with Firefox server. Now computer got re-installed(OS) and want to sync data from Firefox sync server. But I am unable to setup as i don't have sync key.
I would like to just sync with Firefox Sync Server with existing account. I can not find any way out for this. please reply me on
[email protected]hello, for the old sync system in firefox 28 and below you also had to sign up with a mail address and password originally - to connect firefox to the old account you would need to have all those three pieces (mail, password & recovery key) available to you unfortunately...

I'm using Flash 14.0.0 and Shock 14.0.0179 with Firefox 32.0
I'm using Flash 14.0.0 and Shock 14.0.0179 with Firefox 32.0. I'm continually getting a 'Reload' or 'Submit Crash report' message. I cannot open a 'video' clip in Facebook at all. If I use IE as my browser...then I can do everything, with no issues. I have 'uninstalled' and 'reinstalled' both Flash and Shock a number of times. I have followed all the steps suggested to validate Flash and Shock, all Plugins are 'active'.
What more can I do to be able to use Firefox as my browser??Jeromie Clark:
I've tried what you suggested with 'rebooting' and 'restarting with add-ons disabled' but that did NOT resolve the issue. So Here is the data you requested:
1) OS = Windows 8.1 Pro (Surface)
2) Firefox = 32.0
3) IE = 11.0.9600.17239
4) Flash = 14.0.0
Explanation of Problem:
I'm getting a 'Reload' or 'Submit Crash report' message. I cannot open a 'video' clip in Facebook or YouTube at all. If I use IE as my browser...then I can do everything, with no issues. I have 'uninstalled' and 'reinstalled' both Flash and Shock a number of times.
Here are screen prints of the error messages that I get:

I guess that's all you asked for...so I'll wait to hear from you...!

When keynote presentation is sent via email as a keynote file, original sizing and spacing on slide is not retained in the email. Some words are not fitted onto the slide, others words are written over each other. The effort to create the optimal layout on the original is not retained. Please offer your insights into my errors. Thanks in advance.
Wauw... I'm always impressed by how bad Microsoft can answer these questions!
Dear Martin - Now let me do it short:
Adding text-shadow to p-tags (especially) in IE10, and you want to positioning your shadow by ex. 1px 1px 1px rgba(255, 255, 255, .5); it cuts the text (or make some part of your text invisible!). The issue is the blur-value! Set the blur-value to 0 or 5
- not in between, because it then starts cutting your text (has something to do with the combination of the lengths and the size of the blur-size, and probably also the size of your text)!
Instead of the example I just gave you, try this: text-shadow: 0px 1px 0px rgba(255, 255, 255, .5);
And Microsoft - please try and make an effort when people are writing you with bugs or issues in IE... You must know that your browser (all versions) has been and still are the ones with most bugs! If you wanna learn about the CSS-terms, you can go look
at http://www.w3schools.com/css/ or try Google it ;O) -
I,m having problems trying to file my SARS tax returns via SARS efiling on their website sarsefiling.co.za .They use adobe reader to open their documents ie EMP201 PAYE and EMP501 VAT returns
it won,t open the document in order for me to capture the company information on their website . I have mozzilla firefox as my protection for sites and emails I go through mozzilla to open adobe documents /attachments . it seems with SARS website doesn,t like this .So how do i go around trying to do my job at work . Thanks linda Desperate now ...........I think I found a Windows setting that is causing the issue. I'm using
my LCD HDTV as the monitor for this computer, and in order to see the display easily, I have the following setting in Windows 7: Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display > Make text and other items larger or smaller > 150%.
When I change this to the default of 100%, the problems with Reader X in Firefox and IE disappear. Reader 9, however, works perfectly at 100% and 150%.
Is this a known bug in Reader X? Since the problem only appeared when moving from Reader 9 to Reader X, it seems it's not an unsolveable incompatability or something that's too difficult to work around.
Do any others with their displays magnified have this problem? Or does it work perfectly? Would anyone (preferably with Windows 7 64-bit) be willing to set their display magnification to 150% and see if they can replicate the problem? -
When I try to access certain listings on eBay I get the following message:
"Unfortunately, access to this particular listing or item has been blocked due to a Paris commercial court decision that bans trade of certain authentic perfumes and cosmetic products on eBay because of French selective distribution laws. eBay is appealing this ruling but is nevertheless required to enforce it. We are blocking your viewing in an effort to comply with this court decision. Regrettably, in some cases, we may prevent users from accessing items that are not within the scope of the decision because of limitations on existing technology."
eBay support told me it is because they think I am in France or because I am using a French ISP. I am in London and am using the British ISP, Bethere. What can I do to convince them that I am in England?
The URL quoted is just an example. It happens frequently with other listings. This is what I get:
ISP: Be Un Limited
Organization: Be Un Limited
Connection: Broadband
Services: None Detected
City: Horsham
Region: West Sussex
Country: United Kingdom
It can't be a problem with my ISP or my IP address since it only happens with Firefox. When I try out the same listings with other browsers it doesn't happen. eBay said Firefox must be making it seem as though I am in France. Goodness knows how or why?? -
MobileMe preferences button and menu doesn't work with Firefox 4 on Mac OS X 10.6.6
When I login to my MobileMe account I have two buttons on the top right of the page: Preferences and My Account name.
Both I can select but when I do I cannot press either one of the menu entries that show. So I cannot change anything or create folders in iDisk for instance. All did work on Firefox version 3.6. It also works on Safari.
What settings do I have wrong? I like Firefox more than Safari.
Thanks.
FritsanderYou can install the portable Firefox 3.6.x version to access websites that do not work with Firefox 5+.

Norton isn't supported on Firefox 4. I don't trust ANY web browser that I can't use Norton on. I had no complaints with it when I had Firefox 3.6. I want to reinstall 3.6 but can't. I have looked all over for a download but every one comes back to Firefox 4.
Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles -
I have MS Office 2007 on my computer and Firefox set as my default browser. This a.m. I ran a Java update. That may/may not be relevant. Now, in my email when I click on a link... nothing apparent happens. I changed to IE as default browser and it opens a file but IE is so messed up I could not even read a whole article before it crashed on me. Please help me get my email to work with Firefox again.
My first thought was a mouse problem so I connected my original wireless mouse and turned off my magic mouse (fresh batteries as well) and it had the same problem.
Since this was a recent issue I checked some apps I added a few days ago and they may have been the problem. Each of them had an option of "keep tab visible as a background app" which I just disabled and for now it seems my mouse is back to normal.
I will definitely try resetting both PRAM and SMC if the issue returns.
Thank you for responding and offering help, really appreciate it!

Emails to me *****@prodigy.net originating from a hotmail e-mail account are not being delivered.
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 553 553 5.3.0 flpd121 DNSBL:ATTRBL 521< 74.125.83.196 >_is_blocked.__For_information_see_http://att.net/blocks (state 13).
Also, Google toolbar is incompatible with Firefox.I lost all my bookmarks.Hi, you seem to have several (different) issues...
* The e-mail issue is, as the e-mail states, of the sole responsibility of the other email provider (in this case, prodigy.net). Firefox has nothing to do with this, and I don't think I can help you with this particular issue. If you own this domain or have an IT team behind the prodigy.net domain, I suggest you contact them, because this domain seems to be blacklisted by ATT.
* Regarding lost bookmarks, you can try the suggestions at our support article [[Lost Bookmarks]]
* Regarding Google Toolbar, you can enable it by following the instructions in the section "Forcing addons to work by installing the Addon Compatibility Reporter" in the article [[Add-ons are disabled after updating Firefox]] .
I hope this helps :D -
Printing from web pages is excruciatingly slow since downloading most recent upgrades of Firefox Mozilla. I have a desktop iMac, OS 10.6.8, and an HP officejet printer 4500 G510n. The printer works fine with the Safari Browser and with woodprocessed files, but not with Firefox and web pages. Help please! It used to print fast with earlier versions of Firefox.
Hello and welcome to the Apple Discussions Forum.
I have hardly any experience with HP printers but since your posting has not been replied to yet I thought I'd offer some assistance.
With the printer status and ink levels working, it shows that you have a connection to the printer. So I would look at the issue being with the protocol being used for the print queue on the Mac.
Since you have XP and Vista working, I would check the printer queue configuration on either box. In XP, go to the Properties and select Ports. Click the Configure Port tab to view the connection. If you are using RAW, then this is known as HP Jetdirect-Socket on OS X. So if you are not sure what protocol was used before I would create another printer queue, this time selecting IP > HP Jetdirect-Socket. Then enter your IP address and select the K5400dn from the Print Using menu.
If this still fails to print then please reply. There may be limitations with adding the HP driver this way that I am not aware of. There may also be other driver options you can look at, such as HPIJS. If Greg Sahli reads this posting he has expert knowledge on this matter and will be able to offer some guidance.

Text and windows buring into lcd screen.
Hello, I have an apple 23" Display and recently I am finding that some windows and text are getting burned into the display temporarily. This has never happened until recently. The display is almost three years old. I'm just wondering if this is a sign that the screen is starting to go. I have a few days left on my apple care.
Thanks<http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2807>

I asked Zoom Text about this and this is what they had to say.
"What is the specific version of ZoomText 9.1 you are using (In ZoomText click on Help -> About ZoomText -> Version)? Unfortunately the newer are supporting HTML5, Direct2D and other new hardware acceleration technologies designed to increase the speed and performance of web browsers. These new technologies bring new challenges for accessibility programs like ZoomText. More specifically, these technologies will have crippling adverse effects on ZoomText?s xFont, tracking and screen reading features.
Therefore, at this time we are advising ZoomText users not to install or upgrade to Internet Explorer 9, as doing so will result in a loss of ZoomText functionality within Internet Explorer, and possibly a decrease in personal productivity. We do want to assure you that we are working on overcoming these problems and will provide a solution as quickly as possible.
The other web browsers like Google Chrome, Safari, and Opera we do not have support for. The Firefox 4 with ZoomText you should have decent support for but not full support for it but you do have to have the updated version of ZoomText 9.19.1 and do the following as well http://www.aisquared.com/knowledge_base/more/zoomtext_with_firefox_4_loss_of_xfont/ for Firefox 4.
You are best to use IE 8 or 7 now or Firefox 3 or you can try 4. Thanks."
I am running the latest version of Zoom Text abnd the latest version of Firefox. I have done the "fix" suggested here but it had short lived relief if any. My preferred solution is to go back to running Firefox 3 until Zoom Text works around your new software updates.
Hint: You would make a whole lot of visually impaired folks on this planet real happy if you got together with the Zoom Text people and worked this out in a lickity-split fashion.
Thanks,
DavidYou might try using the add-on 'NoSquint' which allows numerous zoom options specific to each page you visit & keeps your settings - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nosquint/
If you want to go back to 3.6x, you will find it here:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
In most cases you can simply "upgrade" (meaning downgrade) directly from the installation. It would be a good idea to save your passwords & bookmarks just to be on the safe side. -
Is there supposed to be a video in that black box?
Yes those are supposed to be videos. I can see them now. These videos are hosted on Youtube. Some people have experienced temporary issues but later have been able to view the videos. I suggest coming back and trying again, or try another browser.
