Soft Image after rendering

Hi,
First time poster, long time reader.
I shot something in regular 24p mode and edited it in Final Cut Pro HD. After putting on a 1:85 filter and adjusting the framing of the footage, some of the shots went soft. I've noticed that there was also color correction done to some of the shots.
A friend recommended that I upgrade to 5.1 since HD and 4.5 seemed to have bugs in it. I did. Image is still soft. Racking my brain for days. Ca do without the color correct. but framing change is a must.
1. Does anyone know about this problem, or has encountered it before?
2. Is there a way to go around this problem outside of the normal fcp
schematics?
Any help or advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Marcel

  • Colors in an image comes out different after rendering comp

    Hey guys, having an annoying problem.
    For a project, I've imported a jpeg file that I made on Photoshop. The colors look perfectly fine on the RAM previews and stuff but after I render it, just that specific jpg image comes washed out. It should be dark grey / almost black but after rendering into .mov that image becomes medium grey. It's noticeably more washed out and lighter. All the other colors in that image are also noticeably lighter as well.
    Any ideas whats going on? I have set my working space to my monitors color profile and I have proofed the colors after saving on Photoshop.
    Thanks! This is driving me nuts!

    I send the composition to the Render Queue and do it from there. I have my render settings to "Best", and output module to "Lossless".
    Regarding the codec, I'm not sure about that. How can I find out? Sorry this is my first time really with AE.
    EDIT: FIXED!
    On the output module, I had it set to Quicktime before. I changed that to H.264 and the colors were fine after that. Whew!
    Thanks for all your help Rick!

  • IPhoto image deleted after rendering

    I've just upgraded to iMovie HD 6.03. I have the latest version of Quicktime installed and the latest version of OSX installed.
    When importing a photo from iPhoto into iMovie - using the Ken Burns effect - the photo goes black after rendering. Non-Ken Burns version goes to iMovie trash.
    I've deleted the preferences file, ran disk permissions utilities and it still doesn't work. I get no errors related to graphics cards. This capability worked fine in prior versions of iMovie.
    Any additional suggestions?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   768MB SDRAM

    It's a bug. As you say, when we import a photo with the Ken Burn checkbox ON, iMovie puts its copy of the source image in the iMovie Trash. If we empty the Trash the image is discarded, making it impossible to Update the clip later.

  • JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 ADF Swing - Images not rendering after deployment

    Hi,
    I have deployed my ADF Swing application in production in very simple 2 tiers architecture.
    One executal jar on my desktop and
    The database running on a Linux server.
    When I run MyApp.jar from my desktop, none of my images is rendered and LOV buttons do NOT work.
    The same application runs against the same dabase from Jedev environment shows images and LOVs work fine.
    Thank for your your help.

    I suppose that you use Java WebStart to deploy your application.
    The issue might be that you're using absolute path to load images into the application (c:\something\something.jpg). When you start your app in webstart, it doesn't allow the application the acces to the disk using absolute path. Even if it did, you wouldn't find your images in the same folder as they are on your disk.
    You should load images like this:
    ImageIcon icon=new ImageIcon(this.getClass().getResource("images/something.jpg"));
    This presumes that you store all your images in "images" package (folder).

  • Strange outline on overlaid images after render, but not before.

    Hey everyone! Thanks in advance!
    I am editing a music video, and I had to mask the brand name of the keyboard for copyright reasons. Basically I made a rectangle that matched the texture of the keyboard and overlaid it, keeping it aligned using motion keyframes.
    After completing the keyframes, I thumbed through each frame, and everything looked great, but I needed to render it. After rendering, it had this strange halo/border thing around it making it very obvious that I had tried to cover something up.
    The image is a .tiff with transparency. The video is DVCPro HD 1080 30P (Shot interlaced, 3:2 dropdown, de-interlaced) I have Final Cut version 7.0.3. The sequence is set to render in high-precision YUV.
    Here are some links to pre-render and post-render images. You can see part of the keyboard just sticking in from the right.

  • Video "Hits" After Rendering

    After I render a piece of my timeline and look at it on our studio monitor, I'm getting a good amount of what I would call "hits" in the video, like hits you would see on an old tape that's past its prime. The timeline has a number of graphics layered on top of one another with text and moving jpegs, with a broadcast safe filter on everything.
    I've had weird things appear after rendering before, but they've always gone away after rerendering. This time they're pretty consistently in the same spots.
    Any ideas about settings I should look into or other work arounds?

    I have seen this on several occasions and there seem to be a few causes.
    possibilities:
    1) you are using the Broadcast safe filter, if the clipping on your images are extreme you get strange green and white artifacts after rendering. Try using the 3-way color corrector to bring levels down before applying the BS filter. Or if the artifacts are occurring on graphics, make adjustments in Photoshop (or whatever program you created the graphics in) and bring them back into FCP. A lot of people create graphics using the full range of RGB colors and luminance values. NTSC video does not have as large of a chroma and luma range as RGB.
    2) You are working in an uncompressed 10-bit sequence and applying filters that are not compatible (for lack of a better word) with Apple's 10-bit codec. (Or you are just getting random render problems in 10-bit). I have had many, many render issues in 10-bit that went away by switching to 8-bit. In most cases you can't really see much difference between 8 and 10 bit video anyway, so why go through the hassle or working with it. If you are doing a lot of green screen work, you may want to reevaluate this argument.
    I'm sure there are other possible causes for the problems you're experiencing, but these are the ones I've run into in the past.
    Graeme Nattress knows a lot about 10-bit issues in FCP, perhaps he can chime in with some suggestions/explanations.

  • Titles made in Premiere become fuzzy after rendering

    Is there a setting or button to check in Premiere to prevent titles made in Premiere from loosing the clarity and shapeness they had to becoming fuzzy and out of focus after the video is rendered?

    I'm a novice learning Premiere. I assumed the softwear would make the export setting the same as the settings used to make the video sequence. I checked the best quality boxes and in both the rendering and exporting windows, but  the text in the titles made with Premiere played back fuzzy.  However, all the images I used stayed sharp in playback after rendering and exporting, even text that was already in images I imported in to Premiere stayed sharp in playback after rendering and exporting. What are the best sequence and export settings to use to produce sharp clear titles made in Premiere?

  • Pixelization after Rendering - Desaturate Highlights?

    I'm running Final Cut Pro 5.0.4 (anyone know where I can get the $49 5.1 update?).
    I've shot a video on miniDV, and have edited it into an Uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2 sequence. In the Video Processing tab, I've selected "Render All YUV Material in High-Precision YUV" and set Motion Filtering Quality to "Best."
    I've applied two filters to the footage: Color Corrector 3-Way and Desaturate Highlights. There are no other effects, including speed changes.
    Prior to rendering my clip, the footage looks like this in the Canvas window:
    After rendering, the footage becomes extremely pixellated:
    I've tried changing to Apple Intermediate Codec and the result is the same.
    Curiously, if I turn off the Desaturate Highlights filter and then render (in Uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2), the footage is fine, and looks like the first image above (aside from not having the effects of the Desaturate Highlights filter, of course - which I very much need).
    Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct this issue?

    hanumang wrote:
    There are, unfortunately, known issues with rendering in High-Precision YUV when working in 10-bit in Final Cut Pro.
    Any luck attempting to render in simply YUV? (I understand you want to the best quality possible, but it is what it is)
    I switched my sequence over to "Render 10-bit material in High-Precision YUV" and got the same result; however, switching it to "Render in 8-bit YUV" cleared it up. Thanks!
    Is there a different high-quality codec I could use instead of 10-bit Uncompressed 4:2:2 due to this problem? If I had FCS2 I'd just switch to ProRes, but...well...it's expensive. I may take it to a computer that has FCS2 though and render it in ProRes High-Precision YUV there.
    Thanks!

  • White Color are grey after rendering !

    Hello ! first post on this forum !
    I'm working on a composition whith white background ... but after rendering in format such as WMV, and playing this video on different players, the white background look soft grey ! any idea about this problem ?

    - broadcast safe colors
    - general Gamma adjustments done by your player
    - general Gamma adjustments due to color profile (mismatch)
    - limitations in the chosen CoDec/ compression
    Pick whichever is most likely. For most MPEG derivatives and WMV a color space compression is normal and unfortunately you cannot override these behaviors from within AE in most cases. You will have to use other tools. It is however absolutely possible to improve color perception by adjusting the colors before the compression. I recommend you check out The Meyers' tutorials on broadcast safe treatment or Aharon Rabinowitz podcast on creativeCOW to learn how expanding and compressing color ranges can improve perception and technical quality.

  • IDVD crash after rendering for 1 movie

    I created several DVD so far it was perfect. I am using the same method and format or codec that I was using for all previous movies. This one seems perfect within iDVD but when I try to burn disk image it quits unexpectedly after rendering the project. All the files are stored onto an external firewire HD like the other movies. At this point I have rebuilt the movie from scratch, rebuild the iDVD project from scratch and I don't know where to go anymore. This is what I have in the log file:
    Exception Type: EXCBADACCESS (SIGSEGV)
    Exception Codes: KERNINVALIDADDRESS at 0x000000001e73f014
    Crashed Thread: 29
    Could anyone please help

    What worked for me was to copy the iDVD project + assets to the local harddrive. Then it would sucesfully render (in the background) and was I able to save a disk image (on the firewire harddisk, because of lack of disk space!). So it seems FireWire related. Possibly a bug that will be fixed in the much anticipated OS X 10.5.3 update. I will do some more tests, with other harddisks, connecting with FW 400 and USB 2. Or Startup from a OS on the external FW drive.
    I'm not surprised FW400 is slightly more stable but besides that it is always better to have your largest and faster HD as your primary boot volume since this is the drive that will do most of the rendering and encoding for iDvd and /or DVDSP.
    I was trying to explain this on an earlier post to another forum member. Not sure if you happened to read it but the link is here:

  • Compressor 4 insert DVD dialog box does not come up after rendering

    Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong when after rendering a DVD project, the process looks like its finished rendering but the insert DVD dialog box never comes up.
    Very frustrating, but probably something dumb...
    Thanks

    Everything looks good in the Batch Window.
    I'm guessing permissions or preferences, assuming it's not hardware.
    Run Compressor Repair to flush things out…make sure the Trash Preferences box is checked.
    Run Disk Utlity, select your boot drive and Repair Permissions.
    If that doesn't do it, in Job Action, change output device to Hard Drive and se whether it will make a disk image.
    Good luck.

  • Soft images in Bridge full screen preview

    This has seemed to plague Bridge for a couple of years now… thought that the CS6 update would fix it. This is reproducible on a variety of Macs with and without external displays, all running the latest OS and Adobe updates.
    With 100% previews selected in the preferences and a recently purged cache, browse to a directory of images.
    Preview the first image by selecting it and pressing the space bar:
    Arrow to the right to preview the second image in the folder. Then arrow left to review the original image:
    Notice how blurry it becomes. And subsequent images are rendered blurry.
    Hit the escape key to exit and space bar again to re-enter the full screen preview.
    There is possibly some non integral sub-pixel calculations going on, making the image blurry. Clicking once on the image brings up a 100% label at the top and the image almost corrects itself.
    This should be a priority one fix.
    What is Bridge? Adobe® Bridge CS6 digital asset management software is a powerful photo and design organizer that provides centralized access to all your creative blurry assets.

    Welcome to my world. If you search a bit, you should find a few discussions on related topics.
    Your problem sounds like something I see intermittently. Occasionally, Bridge seems incapable of generating a decent full-screen preview. I generally work around this by purging the folder's cache and/or restarting Bridge.
    CS6's Bridge has been reworked quite a lot. It's now 64-bit, and the internal database has been changed to a different system. However, I still see Bridge generating thumbnails and previews unnecessarily, which suggests to me that more work needs to be done.
    One thing I learned recently is that Bridge uses the graphcs hardware to generate previews, so it may be worth trying the Use Software Rendering setting in Preferences (if there is one on CS6 for Mac), to see if it makes any difference. If it did, you may have an issue with your graphics cards and/or software and/or settings.

  • Show image quality as like original image after resize in as3.

    Hi Guys,
    I am working on a Action Script3 project and i am showing images after resizing. I am using Bitmap and BitmapData manipulation for this but not getting image quality as like original image.  Please guide and help me with code that how can i do this.
    Thanks & regards

    How are you resizing? Normally, you would draw the original bitmap data into the new bitmap data, using a matrix to resize. To smooth scale, you need to use the smoothing option of the draw method. Here's a little sample that takes a library image and scales it to 500x500, using smoothing:
    var orig:BitmapData = new baseMap(); //library image
    var res:BitmapData = new BitmapData(500,500);
    var m:Matrix = new Matrix();
    m.scale(res.width / orig.width, res.height / orig.height);
    res.draw(orig, m, null, null, null, true);
    var c:Bitmap = new Bitmap(res);
    addChild(c);
    toggle the true to false in the draw, to see the difference...
