Soft phone takes over port 80?

I'm using Cisco IP Communicator 2.0.1.1. When the software is running, it listens on port 80 (HTTP) and as a result my local IIS no longer gets any traffic because Communicator intercepts it. Is there any way to turn this off? I absolutely must have my local IIS working, and I'll be forced to go to a hard phone if this can't be solved.

Has anyone noticed that the app reads this key about every 10th of second while it's running? This doesn't seem normal to me. Plus it would be nice to figure out how to change the port.
Also, where should I go for updated versions of it? Mine keeps hanging my machine every now and then when I close it. Mouse keeps working but I'm not able to click or start any other progs. usually have to hard reset my box.

  • Help! Verizon won't port old phone number over to my FIOS house landline.

Hi, need help on resolving this issue with Verizon.  Had Verizon FIOS triple play installed at my house about 12 days ago.  HD Prime, 15/5 internet and Digital Voice landline.  I switched from TimeWarner cable.    I signed up online for Verizon FIOS and tried to use my current house  telephone number when signing up.  Next day I get a call from a Verizon rep telling me my order was lost even thou I had a confirmation number and that I would have to redo my online sign up.
I wanted to keep my old telephone number that I had with TimeWarner and port it over to Verizon.  What I did to save my old house phone number was I ported my TimeWarner house telephone number over to an activated cellular Tracfone that I own.  So I resigned up online and selected a new telephone number and the order went thru and I had my FIOS installed at my house.
What I have learned from talking with Verizon billing, is because my old telephone number  that I had with TimeWarner  had been originally given to me by Verizon many years back and then it was  ported over to TimeWarner from Verizon that Verizon now won't port the old number back over to my house landline  because they have already ported it out once years ago for me.
One suggested I create a new account, don't know it this can be done or not.  I got a really good price on the FIOS Triple Play bundle I had installed and don't want to loose the great Verizon FIOS price deal I have.
Really frustrated at this point, being told before installation that I could keep my old phone number, spending a lot of time on the phone and then being told I can't do it after installation is completed.
Any ideas on how to get or make Verizon port over my old telephone number I have on my Tracfone now to my Verizon FIOS landline?  I was told by a Verizon rep that it can't be done and they won't do it since the telephone number is my old Verizon phone number from many years ago that they ported out they won't port in back it now.   Wow, talk about a "Can't do" attitude.
Any and all constructive input is welcomed.  Thanks for reading this.

  • Re: Help! Verizon won't port old phone number over to my FIOS house landline

I have been trying for six months to get my old copper wire phone number ported into FIOS, and have heard nothing but excuses and failure. I am paying two bills, one for FIOS and one for the copper wire line. In a thread earlier this year  titled "Help! Verizon won't port old phone number over to my FIOS house landline",  a user reported success in getting his old telephone number ported in to FIOS after filing a complaint with the FCC. Do I need to file a complaint with the FCC in order to get some action on this request?

    D_Schultz,

  • Virgin refusing BT phone number to port over

Hi, I really need some help keeping my phone number. For the past couple of days I have argued with Virgin and BT over my account.
The issue I have is that I closed my Virgin phone account, but wanted to port my number to BT. No-one told me not to but now Virgin and BT wont talk to each other and do the port. Virgin confirm the number is still with them but because the account is closed BT cant get it and BT closed my order.
Is there anything at all that can be done, I really need to keep my phone number.

First of all, know that we don't really own our phone numbers.  Porting has allowed us to move them around more than the old days, but sometimes you just can't keep it.
There are regulations regarding number porting including geographical limits for true telephone companies like Verizon.  If your old number was assigned by AT&T in a different location than where you are now, that could explain why it can't be ported.
If Verizon can't port your old number, you might want to consider keeping Vonage active at a low cost level or transfer to an even less expensive VoIP provider.
If you don't want to keep two services active, you could always put up a voice message on Vonage announcing your new number.  Then keep Vonage active for as long as you think you need it to let everyone know about your new number.
    Good Luck.

  • TS4268 When I send an imessage with wifi it send it from the original number I got with the phone before I ported my number over.  When I send an imessage on the network it comes from my own ported number.  How do I change this?

Yeah send it from your phone.
Your computer has no knowledge of your phones phone number, it is not a phone.

  • How do I take over contacts from other phone?

    3GS, 3.1, Windows 7 Trial version
My wife and I both have a 3GS. For some reason my contacts have disappeared after I upgraded to 3.1. Most of my wife's contacts are the same as mine. Instead of having to enter everything again I would like to take over her contacts but leave the rest of my iPhone settings, apps etc. untouched. Is that possible and if so, how?
    Thanks.

The iphone is designed to be synced with a program on your computer. It is not a stand alone device.
Under the info tab you should have selected a contact program that you want iphone to sync with.
This is where your contacts should be. This way of you lose your contacts, you can just re-sync them.

  • Can I merge several different Verizon plans (different family members each have own plans) into one plan (i.e. can I take over all their lines), if all lines on all plans are on Edge?

I was originally told by Verizon that if I joined, I can eventually take over the lines of various family members.  Now that I've joined, and my family members all upgraded their phones and are on Edge, Verizon is telling us that we can't merge into one plan (because Edge lines can't be transferred to another account).
Is this true, and, if so, what is my recourse since I was lied to.

Well, yes and no (as far as being lied to).  I asked on several occasions (I have the chat transcripts to prove it) if there would be any issue if the lines were all already on Edge, and was told each time that under no circumstances would there be any issue.  The latest being today (I know it's after the fact, but I wanted proof that this is what the chat people are saying).  I asked "I have currently have an account with 3 phones on Edge.  My brother and his wife, and my parents, also have plans all on Edge.  I would like to 'take over' their lines.  I want to make sure there is no issue with the Edge plan and that I can simply 'take over' their lines with no problems."  I was told "Yes. That would be correct."  Again, this is what I was told in the past as well (my original post didn't make clear the timing of the chats and upgrades to Edge..).  Every time I chatted I mentioned that the accounts were going to be on Edge or (later on) were already on Edge.  Even before my family members upgraded to Edge, not one single chat or phone representative (and my brother asked the same thing in a store) mentioned NOT to upgrade to Edge because it couldn't be transferred.  Everyone just said yep, no problem.  The ONLY reason I even joined Verizon (I was on Straight Talk) was because of the More Everything and Edge plans (we wanted a family plan with 6 people and over 10GB so we'd each save $25/line).  Otherwise I never would have joined Verizon and my family wouldn't have upgraded either.

  • Jabber for windows soft phone issue

    Hi Guys
Wondering if anyone has come accross this.. I have just installed J4W 10.5.2, the presence / IM works fine however the soft phone doesn't  register.  it comes up with error.. Connection error. Ensure the server information in the Phone Services tab on the Options window is correct. Contact your system administrator for assistance
The machine is obviously on the data VLAN.. however  when i connect  the machine to the voice VLAN the soft phone registers ok..  see attached document
A little background.. the SVIs for the VLANS are on a firewall but there are no restrictions between the data and voice VLANs .. see attached
    please help

Did you find a solution to this i have a PC that is doing the exact same? softphone doesn't work on data  VLAN but does switched to Voice VLAN it connects and works properly.
PC connected direct to Data VLAN
-Allows CTI control of DeskPhone Softphone fails.
PC connected Direct to Voice VLAN
-Allows CTI contol of DeskPhone Softphone works.
Does not seem to be a Network problem because can use the same ports on a My Laptop and the Jabber Client works on Both VLANS

  • How can I get someone to answer the phone? I'm ready to give VERIZON my business. I sat on the phone for over 20 minutes only to be transferred to "Sales." I then sat on the phone for another 15 minutes!!!! I finally hung up.

How can I get someone to answer the phone? I'm ready to give VERIZON my business. I sat on the phone for over 20 minutes only to be transferred to "Sales." I then sat on the phone for another 15 minutes!!!! I finally hung up.

It takes an enormous amount of patience and time to get through to a qualified person.
My Samsung S5 was locked out and needed a factory reset. Including attempts to achieve this locally, it took over an hour before my problem was even addressed.
You may be interested in my journey to a very good technical support person.
First I called the local sales person who had given me his personal business card with the friendly advice to call me with any questions. No answer at about 8:30 am when the business was open. His voice mailbox was full.
Then I called the local store where I had purchased the phone. The person who answered the phone had learned all the proper stock phrases, but was not familiar with the issue, stated that there were no customers in the store, and I should go there in about an hour when there would be more staff. He suggested dialing *411 from my phone (which was locked). Then he gave me a number to call Verizon, which he had to look up, and it took a minute or so. The number was (removed). That is an internal number for employees and contractors and requires a code to access, obviously not designed for customers' use. He finally cut me off by stating that there were a number of customers in line waiting for his attention!
After researching all my papers I found 800-922-0204 on my bill. The automated message suggested a hold time of 5 minutes, it took 20 minutes for a Customer Service Representative to pick up, and then I was referred to technical assistance. The hold time was announced to take 5 minutes, after 12 minutes I finally was connected.
Fortunately I had my computer set up for Skype on a loudspeaker, and was able to do some other paperwork while waiting.
Persistence was rewarded by having the good fortune to be connected to a very experienced, qualified and patient technical support staff with the name of Thomas (removed). He solved my problem, answered my questions during the process of resetting the phone, and gave an example of courteous and kind customer service that I had never experienced before when dealing with any major internet company.

  • HT201436 Can't retrieve voicemail.  Phone takes me to greeting screen, but when I select default or record a  custom greeting, the save it, phone screen continues to show "saving greeting" I cannot get to the screen to check voicemail

I think phone is 4s but might be a 4. Can't retrieve voicemail.  I've had the phone for months and have used voicemail. Now when I select voicemail the phone takes me to a page to set up greeting (custom or default) and when I select either one and then try to save it ( thinking maybe then I can get to my messages) the screen just keeps showing "saving greeting"
    Thanks

Safe Mode (booting while holding down Shift key) should have disabled all the Login items, as well as any non-Apple startup items, including the launchd items.
I'm out of "Easy" ideas, and anything I say after this, is just wild ideas, so feel free to ignore me.
Have you tried different USB cables?  Maybe there is an issue with the USB connector, or the way you have to bend things to access your Mac mini USB ports is different from accessing your Wife's Mac mini USB ports?
Try alternate USB ports.  Maybe there is a bad/marginal port/connector.
Try removing all your existing USB devices.  If you are using a USB keyboard and/or mouse, try using a different USB keyboard and/or mouse (maybe borrow them from your Wife's Mac mini).  Basically remove all other USB devices and replace the essential keyboard and mouse with known good ones).
Desperate measure (Backup first before proceeding down this path).  Using a Firewire cable, boot your Wife's Mac mini into Firewire Target Mode.  Connect a Firewire cable between your Mac mini and your Wife's while your Wife's is in Target Mode.  Now boot your Mac mini holding down the "Option" key, and select your Wife's Mac mini's disk to boot from.   Essentially you will be using your hardware and your Wife's software to see if you have a hardware issue, or if it is a software issue.  That is to say if it works with your Mac mini booted from your Wife's boot disk, then your hardware is fine, but there is something wrong with your software.  If it does not work, then it is your hardware.
Hopefully, you Wife will not kill you for even mentioning this.  ALSO, if you do try this, BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP first, especailly her system.  Not that anything will go wrong, but if it does, the last thing you want is an annoyed Wife :-)  BACKUP!

  • HT5554 I have the iPhone 5 and I keep getting a no sim card message. I have had my phone for over a year now so I know I have a sim card. How can I fix this because it doesn't let me get calls now.

I have the iPhone 5 and I keep getting a no sim card message. I have had my phone for over a year now so I know I have a sim card. How can I fix this because it doesn't let me get calls now.

Try resetting the phone. Hold the home and power lock button until the Apple logo appears. If that does not work, turn the phone off and take the SIM out and then put it back in.
If that still does not work, you may have a defective SIM, in which case you will need a new one from your carrier.

  • Trying to restore my iPhone 5 from a backup but its says that it will take over 24 hours to finish. Is there something I can try to do to speed this up? I feel like it shouldn't take this long

So I have been restoring my iPhone5 from a backup for about 3 hours now however iTunes still says that it is going to take over 24 hours to complete the restore process and the progress bar hasn't moved much at all. I feel like something has gone wrong somehow and it shouldn't take this long to complete. Is there something I can do to speed up this process or do I just have to try to wait it out? I'm scared to just unplug my phone and try again since it might screw something up.

if u unplug then that could put ur device into recovery mode. i would wait

  • IPhone 3G 16gb Backing Up forever, takes over 2.5 hours, free space is 92%

I have an iPhone 3G 16GB. It is on OS 3.0.1. I have been trying to back up that phone for a while now on both iTunes 8.1 and iTunes 8.2. It gets stuck around 60% and never moves for a long long while - over an hour and half. Today, I won the battle of wits and found out that it takes over 2.5 hours to backup. The clincher is my iPhone is about 92% empty!!!
Any idea why it is taking such a long time? I have my iPhone password-protected, so the backup must be getting encrypted, I can understand. But even then, 2.5 hours for backing up about a GB is just not happening to a phone on this side of the millennium.

    some things to try:
if you are using a pc, try disabling any antivirus or anti malware software and try another sync... if it doesn't speed up disable the firewall and try a sync. remember to re-enable any of the above after you are done syncing.
if you are using a mac and have little snitch running disable it then close and reopen itunes and try again... don't forget to turn little snitch back on when done
if neither of those things work some have had luck removing the backup files from their machines (itunes -> Edit, Preferences -> Devices tab , select your backup and click "delete backup") close and restart itunes then force a backup manually (under devices in itune's main screen right click your iphone and choose "Back up")
    be well

  • IOS4 Software takes over 6 hours to back up iPhone 3g

It takes over six hours to back up my iPhone 3g when downloading the iphone 4 software. Is there any solution to this?

    This works.
I personally do a backup in iTunes by right clicking on my phone and then selecting backup. This will only take a few minutes. Then hit upgrade and then refuse the backup option.
