Soft Proof for Third Party Printing?

Julieanne's great training video covers Soft Proofing for monitors and local printers.  How about using it for exports to third party Printers?  All my work is exported to my Zenfolio sponsored website.  From there is purchased for print by further exporting it to MPIX who in turn ship it directly to the buyer.  How can I use Soft Proofing to optimize those photos.  With LR3 my highly random and guesstimate solution was to add +5 with the brightness slider.  I don't know why but its seemed to work even though the images were overly bright on my iMac monitor.

In terms of Blurb, unless you know for a fact that they use only one profile, then the soft proof debate is moot. And I seriously doubt they have one profile for all their papers (that is basically impossible).
This is correct. Blurb uses different printers/presses for different run sizes. You really cannot predict which one they will use and soft proofing to their one profile is really not useful. In fact I have tested this before and had two identical books printed with them, one using their (indeed cmyk) profile and one leaving all the images in sRGB. The sRGB one came out much closer to the original and the cmyk one came out too dark. In fact the cmyk one looked like what happens when I apply generic US web coated to images in their profile, so if you want to print with blurb, you're better off completely ignoring their profile and sending everything in sRGB as Lightroom appears to do. Of course you could have guessed this as they only offer a single profile, while they offer quite a few different papers as well as use multiple printers/presses.

  • Embedding ICC profiles for third party printing?

    Hi,
This is a question regarding Elelments 11 and embedding ICC profiles. I have succesfully set up a colour balanced system for printing on my own premises. At the time of printing I select the relevant ICC profile for the printer/ink combo I am using. However I need to send files way for larger sizes and want to ensure colour correct prints that match as closely as possible the prints I produce in my own studio.
How do I embed the third parties provided ICC profile in the file before sending to them?
Any help on the correct process would be appreciated,
    thanks

Not sure the following answers your question, but have a look here:

  • JPEG Export Settings for third party printing.

    Hi all,
I'm exporting JPEGS from a recent shoot and I am uploading to photobox.co.uk for printing. My question relates to the JPEG quality slider. I notice that 10 seems to be the default for original size. What export quality does everyone use for print export of JPEG? I've tried 11 and 12. 11 seems to be a very small size compared to my usual photoshop workflow and I'm worried that I am over compressing and will get poor prints. I have also ran 12, but these files seem very large indeed for upload. If I must, I'll use 12, but would like peoples opinion as to if the difference between 11 and 12 is really noticeable.
    Thanks
    Steve

You should be able to tell by looking at them. If you can't see a difference, then 10 is good enough
Really, I'm not trying to be cheeky. Look at the export files, compare them on fine edges, and see if 10 is sufficient, especially considering your print size. Maybe order 2 prints; one from each size export, at your target size, and see if you can tell any difference. Use it as a learning experience.

  • Soft proofing for online printing - CS5

After using PSE since V1 and LR since it was beta I've added CS5 and I'm a bit overwhelmed.  Right now I'm trying to set up CS5 to soft proof for online printing.  I read a bunch of online tutorials including Dry Creek Photo's, then downloaded and installed the ICC files for my local Costco.  When I select one of the Costco printers under View - Proof Setup - Custom - Device to Simulate, I get an error message:  "Could not complete your request because the ICC profile is invalid."  I've repeated this with profiles from other Costcos - including one across the country from me - and from Adorama.  No joy.  I'm running CS5 V12.1 x64; it's the same story in 32 bit.  OS is Vista 64 Home Premium (fully updated).  Interestingly, I had no problem when I downloaded ICC profiles for a couple of paper-printer combinations; it's the online services that are giving me grief.  Any idea what I can try next?

Keep in mind that your monitor puts limits on how useful soft-proofing is. If you have a standard-gamut monitor, what you see on-screen is already soft-proofed to sRGB (more or less). If your target profile has a larger gamut, you won't see any difference on-screen.
If you want to do this in Lightroom, just soft-proof to sRGB and you'll probably be fine. The histogram will show you if there is substantial channel clipping, and you can adjust to that. However, since you have Photoshop, my choice would be to do it there, using the Blurb profile.
Printing conditions vary widely around the world and CMYK-profiles likewise. To give you an example, US Web Coated (SWOP) v2, which is the Photoshop default, has a gamut much smaller than sRGB. In Europe the corresponding standard is ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI), which has a gamut that practically corresponds to Adobe RGB. To soft-proof effectively for this you need a wide gamut monitor.
Where the Blurb profile places in this I don't know.

  • Custom Template for Third Party Balance Summary Report(Java type executable

Hi Al,l we have a requirment to have a layout with some of the fields from
Third Party Balance Summary Report( Which is a Java type executable and
Data definition has Data Template attached(.xml)).
    I tried in below way.
Coppied the Third Party Balance Summary Report program with same application and parameters
with. Then defined a Datadefinition with my concurrent prog short name
attached the same standard .xml file(Not sure what it is) and developed a custom template with
a custom rtf(excel output type), and submitted the program
the output is generated in excel but my custom .rtf layout is not getting applied
rather it is showing same layout as in standard.
Some thing I am missing here or else it is not the way of changing the
    template.
If any one know how to do this please let me know.
My client want only some files from the standard report(no need of new fileds)
    with output type xls.
    Thanks in Advance.
The same content is posted in Custom Template for Third Party Balance Summary Report(Java type executable sorry for duplicating the thread, just for increase the visibility for my issue I did this.

I gave up on using a different font or figuring out if I could use Times New Roman's built-in fractions visible in Font Book (as unicodes) and did a work-around based on Michael Wasley's tips in this discussion.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11622842#11622842
I adapted it however and think it looks a little better.
Font: Times New Roman 12 point
I used the fraction bar in 12-point (Shift-Option-1) for automatic kerning.
For the numerator, I changed the font style to superior (12-point).
For the denominator, I changed the font style to subscript (Shift-Command-hyphen) and reduced the font size to half, or 6-point using the short-cut Shift-Command-<.
When the fractions occured in my footnotes (9-point), I used 4-point in the denominator; 10- and 11-point, I used 5-point in the denominator. This seemed to produce the best result when printing.
    Thank you, Michael.

  • Risk Analysis for Third party ERP system

We want to perform offline risk analysis for third party ERP(SRM) system.... We have already GRC system installed with Global rule set for SAP ERP & want to have another ruleset for offline risk analysis.
Just would like to have a confirmation for below steps & estimated time for this.
Activities Need to be performed from Our side(Client) :-
    1) Send the RAR format for Users/Roles/Actions & Permissions.
    2) Cross Verify the format.
    3) Create the connector for stored files.
    4) Upload the files via Data Extraction utility.
    5) Generate the ruleset for SRM(third party).
    6) Schedule the various background jobs.
Activities Need to be Performed from Third Party - HUBWOO(Owns SRM ERP system) :-
    1) Convert users/action/roles and permissions files to RAR format.
Activities need to be Performed  from SAP :-
    1) Provide the ruleset for HUBWOO SRM system.
Please let me know if I missed any step above & estimated time to complete from our end & did anyone has come across ruleset for HUBWOO system..?
    Thanks in Advance!!

    Thanks all for your reply,
Alpesh, but still I have small concern here, when SAP provide the ruleset files, it also provides for Oracle, People soft & JDE ERP.
Though these are also third party ERP's for SAP...?
Does it mean that we can'task for ruleset for other third party ERP from SAP...? or does SAP Charge something for it..?
    Thanks

  • Shipto Address for Third Party PO

Hi, can anyone advise is there a standard configuration to pick the shipto location from SO which generates the PR for third party scenario?  This is bcos the shipto address in the PR should reflect the one from the SO header so that vendor knows where to ship the goods in such case.  Currently, the shipto address is based on the plant or SLOC in the PR item which is not correct.

  • Printable Files for Third Party

Newbie here. I am trying to create printable files, which are self contained, and can be independently printed by a thrid party.
I am wondering if BI Publisher is capable of creating a format where the graphical layout is only stored once, and then the variable data is stored and/or integrated seperately. The goal is to reduce the file size of the files which we would like to send to a third party to be printed, by avoiding fully populated PDF pages, which are identical except for the variable data.
By requesting that the printable files be self contained, I mean that the end result or the printable files would need to be in an industry standard PDF printing format, as the third party printing company does not have BI Publisher, nor access to our databases.

I have come accross FDF and XFDF format that stores the data seperately from the graphics. Can BI Publisher do anything like this?
My documents will generally be 1,000 to 2,000 pages, but the graphics are 80% the same.
Please let me know if there is a way to make my file creation faster and my file size smaller.

  • Photoshop CC quits when setting up soft proof for Moab Slickrock paper

I use a Mac Pro with Mountain Lion and Photoshop CC, all with current updates. I had no problem downloading and using the Moab Slickrock icc profile from their website to make a test print. When I try to set up soft proofing, view-proof setup-custom, and choose Slickrock as the device to simulate, Photoshop quits suddenly. I tried it multiple times, restarted the computer, restarted Photoshop, removed and re-installed the profile all to no avail. I then installed the profile for Moab Lasal, and was able to set up soft proofing for Lasal with no problem. I can set up Slickrock with my copy of Photoshop CS6 with no problem and also with Lightroom 5.3 it will soft proof. I wrote to Moab and they said it was a known bug with no current solution.
Do you have any idea what is going on?
Soft proofing is not critical, but I do like to use it when I can.
    Eric Brody

I am having this issue as well.  I tried lightroom, but the soft proof is buggy there - it's a known bug I saw written up on MOAB's page.  Supposedly Photoshop CS5 worked OK softproofing with this profile, but evidently, CC does not.

  • Soft Proofing for Blurb

How do I creat a color profile in Lightroom for Blurb? I know they use HP Indigo printers (which are CMKY) but I would like at least a compatible color profile as well as options for when I creat books with different paper types. Do you have any suggestions so that I can be sure that my images are soft proofed for printing through Blurb?

Keep in mind that your monitor puts limits on how useful soft-proofing is. If you have a standard-gamut monitor, what you see on-screen is already soft-proofed to sRGB (more or less). If your target profile has a larger gamut, you won't see any difference on-screen.

  • Plant Determination for Third Party Material as Child Item in Sales Order

    Hi All,
We have an issue with the Plant Determination for Third Party Material as Child Item in a Sales Order.
Even when a Delivering Plant is maintained for the child item which is a Third Party Material, the plant of the Parent Item is only populated as the Default plant in the Sales Order
Can someone explain the reason behiind this determination.
P.S.- For all non -Third PartyChild Items (with non-Third Party Item Catefory & Material Type), the Plant is population correctly as per Delivering plant in Material Master.
    TIA.

    Hi,
Thanks everyone for the feedback.I agree with Samir Danish. It is a standard functionality of SAP which does not allow free goods for BOM material.

  • PO document type for third party PO...?

    Hello friends,
My client's requirement is that third party PO should have different document type, say ZTRD?
I tried to configure the same with PR and PO doc types.  I created new PO type ZTRD. I maintained the combination of PR doc type NB with item cat S to PO doc type ZTRD with item cat S. I also deleted the standard config i.e. combination PR doc type NB with item cat S to PO doc type NB with item cat S.
I created third party SO which created third party PR (doc type NB). But when I tried to convert this PR into PO, still with above config, I am getting error - Doc. type/item cat. NB/S (requisition) <-> NB/S (purch. order) error.
Please help me to configure the Z doc type for third party PO.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Pat.

    Hi
Please try the following, do not delete the standard settings
    1) Create Z document type for PR and assign this document type to relevant Schedule line Category  ( CS for example) in SD
    2) Create Z document type for PO and keep only Item category S & Z document type for the Item category S created for PR.
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks/Karthik

  • PO Creation for third party sales

    Hi
We have the scenario Third party sales and High sea sales which is already in use (already configured) , where PR getting generated automatically .
But client requirement is they want the PO to generate automatically by the system the moment i save the sales order .
Where is the setting in the SAP , where system will generate the PO automatically instead of PR
    Please suggest

    Hi,
    Go to VOV7
Select third party item category which u r using in sales order >>> Deatils >>> under transaction flow >>> Tickmark to CREATE  PO AUTOMATIC.
If you activate this field, the system automatically generates both a purchase order requisition for third-party schedule lines as well as a purchase order in the background when you save the sales order.
However u can not create PO directly.

  • Logical Sys Name for Business system in SLD for Third Party

    Hi !!
I have little doubt what will be the logical system name for creating Business systems in SLD for third party?
    thanks
    Gowri

    Hi Gowri,
sorry, i dont agree with the other answers. The logical system name is required for ALE partner finding. If you dont want to communicate with IDocs you dont need it. If you want to send messages from third party system to R/3 via IDoc adapter, then you should (can) give a name. It can be configured in IB directory as well (adapter specific identifiers). Choose any name, this name will be used for the partner agreement in R/3.
