Soft skills demo - how done?

Hi all,
In CP5, I've been looking at the soft skills demo on the products page (http://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/), lower right, "WHAT YOU CAN DO" Soft Skills Training. On slide 3, what's used to do the little mini slide show? Is this a widget or standard object? Can I get the project file for this project?

Fixed it. Just imported it into a blank project and all was
fine. Last time I use an example.

Adobe Captivate Soft Skills elearning demo

Hello Captivators,
I went to the following site about Captivate:

Located on this page was an interesting demo on "soft skills"
elearning. What really caught my interest, is part way thru the
demo (2 or 3 slide in or so) was located a button in the upper left
of the captivate view screen, that was labeled "Behind the Scenes".
When this button was clicked, it displayed, rather nicely, some
information and a nice chart/graph of what was happening in the
demo. I was wondering how they accomplished that effect. One click
and the info would show, and click again, and the demo continues
where it left off.
Does anyone know how to implement that type of functionality?
Also is it possible while progressing through a scenario based
elearning exercise, to track what the user's last slide was. Much
like a cookie for a web page, etc??? So if the user would click a
"back" button, it would put the user back on the last slide he or
she was viewing.

From what I'm seeing, this is a simple Rollover Image object.
You mouse over and an image the size of the movie displays. Should
be fairly simple to accomplish.

Soft Skills Sample.cp

I am just starting out with Adobe Captivate. I am trying to preview the Soft Skills Sample.cp that is included. There is no audio when I preview this file or when I published this file.
What's going on?

Hi Kelly
There are essentially two different ways to "fix" the fuzzy text. If it's a one off, you may add a line or three at the bottom of the Caption. Then configure the bottom line with a bullet. After that, size the caption so you don't see the bullet.
Or, if you want to influence all transparent captions, click Edit > Preferences > Project > SWF Size and Quality and clear the Anti-alias Transparent Captions option.
Keep in mind that this may also be affected by the Windows settings that are configured. Specifically, an option called "font smoothing". If Font Smoothing is enabled on the PC used to edit and publish the Captivate, it also causes another type of Anti-aliasing to occur that is unrelated to what you see in Captivate.

Priority Skilling. How can it be done in ICM 6.

Hi,
We are currenlty using IPCCE 6 with IP IVR 3.5.
We have agents that belong to multiple skill groups and I would like to prioritize the skill groups.
Lets say I have 2 agents: agent1, agent2 and I have 2 skills groups: VoiceOps and Intake_Eng.
Agent1 belongs to Voiceops and Agent2 belongs to both skills groups. I want calls to VoiceOps to have priority all the time.
Lets says Agent2 is logged on so I want calls to VoiceOps to have priority over Intake_Eng calls.
I was looking at Sub Skill Groups tabs (Subgroup Mask and Sub Skill groups) in the Skill Group explorer and I'm guessing this is what I need.
Using VoiceOps I checked the "Override peripheral default mask" check box
I then checked box 1. This created VoiceOps.pri with priority 1.
I then added Agent1 and Agent2 to VoiceOps.pri.
So now that VoiceOps.pri has a priority of 1 and Intake_Eng has a default priority (0) and Agent2 belongs to both Skill Groups, would VoiceOps.pri calls take priority for Agent2?
Lets say that Agent1 is logged-in and Ready and that I have in one script a "Queue To Skill Group" node with VoiceOps (or VoiceOps.pri) and in another ICM script a "Queue To Skill Group" node with Intake_Eng and lets just says that 2 calls come in at the same exact time and Agent1 is next to receive calls in both skill groups, would Agent1 received the VoiceOps (or VoiceOps.pri) call first?
Using the "Queue To Skill Group" node, how do I route calls to these in my ICM script?
Do I just add VoiceOps in the node and ICM will take care of the rest?

Agreed. The subskills are not really for IPCC, they were added to align with TDM ACDs.
They can be confusing in reporting - if you queue against the base group when sub-groups are configured, queue statistics will not be counted against the sub groups. They can be confusing in scripting - mainly because they don't work how you think they might: sub-skill groups do not imply priority in scripting.

HT3728 can I rename my time capsule with a soft reset or how can I rename it?

I am trying to rename my time capsule, how can this be done? do I have to perform a reset and if so soft, hard etc.

If you are able to access the Time Capsule using AirPort Utility, you can rename the Time Capsule as follows:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility 6.0
Click on the Time Capsule icon
Click Edit
Click the Base Station tab at the top of the window
Edit the Base Station Name as you wish
Enter the Base Station password...(.if you want to change it)
Verify password
Click Update at the lower right and the Time Capsule will restart in 25-30 seconds with your new settings.
If you want to change the Wireless Network name and/or password, click the Wireless tab before you click Update and make the changes that you need.

Video demo - how to put on a slide

I recorded a new video demo in my adobe captivate 8 project. It's shows up as a separate project. How do I import it to the correct slide? (When I go to insert a video, and try to select the cpt file, it's greyed out.)

Have you checked whether none of the specified errors applies?

......* runtime platform service unavailable --> try running service_doctor.sql in directory <your OWB home>\owb\rtp\sql\

TOY STORE DEMO (How to default the user name)

When I logged on to my network I used my user name: scott.
Now when I opened the signin.jsp page, I want the user name control box default to my network user name, i.e., scott. How can I do it? (The current demo default the user name to blank).

If you Google for os user name java site:java.sun.com you'll find the page that lists all System properties that provide info you can retrieve from a Java program.
This info will allow you to write the appropriate line in your overridden entity object create() method where programmatic defaults are performed.
However, this scheme won't work well for a web-based application since the code is running on the web server.

Will Adobe ever come out with any helpful videos on Captivate 6 and not just promotional videos, all i can find is these promo videos which appear to be anyone and everyone spruking how great Captivate 6 is. I have done my research, i have bought the product now i would like some help and advice on how to use the bloody thing.

The short story is that Authorware is officially dead. LAME!
So we need a new authoring environment / publisher for creating
CBTs for CD delivery. Adobe is pushing Authorware users toward
Capitivate and Connect. I know that Captivate does more than screen
capture, but how much and how easily... that's not clear.
We would prefer to build content in Flash and import the .swf
files into a 'publisher' (more or less the same work flow as we
used in Authorware) so we are looking for a tool that will handle
(primarily): • assembly • .exe creathion • user
login / information storage • test creation, tracking and
other metrics • certificate printing. Can anyone inform me on
this?

Assembly: should be fairly easy, assuming the import of
external SWF
files works well. You just import them to the slide you want
the SWFs to
show on and should be fine...if that's all you need by
'assembly'.
.exe creation: is possible too by selecting the 'Standalone'
publish
setting, which will give you an .exe. I think this is the
Captivate SWF
file 'bundled' with the Flash player? Not sure exactly how
that works.
User login/information storage: if you're using an LMS, not a
problem.
If you're not using an LMS, problem. There are a few threads
about how
to hack Captivate output to record to a standalone database
which may
work. There's an article somewhere on Adobe's site by Andrew
Chemey on
how to do that...
Test creation: no problem, especially with CP3 (apparently)
as there are
more quiz templates available. You won't have the
flexibility that
Authorware provided as you're limited to pre-defined types
(think KO)
but probably fine for most needs.
Tracking: again, to an LMS, no problem...though what you can
track is,
again, limited to what Captivate offers...but you can track
most any
interaction I think. If you want to track to not-an-LMS, see
above.
Other metrics? Probably not, but what do you mean...?
Certificate printing: no way I've seen. That's usually a
function of
the...wait for it...LMS. No LMS, not sure how you'd do it
(maybe use JS
to open a webpage that has a pre-filled Certificate? Not sure
how you'd
pass the user name...)

i installed the half life 2 demo from steam and it created a shortcut in my launchpad. how do i delete it completely from my computer so that it wont show up in my launchpad anymore?

Check the settings of your Gmail account and look to see if it is Either setup with POP or IMAP. If it is set up with POP then it will only have those changes on your Mac and not anywhere else. If you need to change it, then remove your Gmail account and then reset it up and it should correct itself.

Designer Demo Viewlets Don't Work

Hi guys
Has anyone checked the designer demo viewlet links on the Oracle site? They don't work, I tried viewing other viewlets from other sites, no problems. Anyone know what the story is? Is there an FTP site I can download the viewlets from?

I am using the latest version of IE. I've got the latest SW/Flash etc and I can play viewlets from other sites. Nothing happens when I click on the links, when I tried opening the viewlet in a new window, I got a JScript runtime error, the error stating Object expected
I was hoping to view all of them as a quick refresher for me. Is there an ftp site I can download them from?

How don't call refreshControl?

my problem is this:
how can i avoid that ADF call refreshControl in the prepareModel() phase the first, and only the first, time the DataPage is executed?
The first time the .do action of the DataPage is executed the bindings context must be initialized but without execute a query on underline DB table(s). In other hand, i need the bindings inizialized but without values in the form into the JSP page.

Ouch! This is nice to know.
So we cannot avoid the initial query as stated in other posts by removing the two "panelBinding.refreshControl();" calls alone. We asked this question before and got the answer to remove these lines, which seemed to work because the screen didn't automagically query any rows. Now that we are attempting to do a create and insert of a new row in the view, however, we are finding that the framework performs an execute query instead creating and inserting a new row. Then the user has to click the create/insert button a 2nd time to actually create a record. The problem seems to be that the framework executes any query that hasn't been executed already when we try and get a reference to the view. So if we attempt to perform the following:
ViewObject vo = panelBinding.findIteratorBinding("AssortmentPlanIterator").getViewObject();
Row row = vo.getCurrentRow();
String state = (String) row.getAttribute("RowState");
if( state != null && state.equals("New") ) {
...The getCurrentRow() call seems to cause the framework to execute the query if needed, which fetches the first existing row.
So... we need to set MaxFetchSize(0) before doing anything that would trigger a refreshControl on any bindings. Then set it back to -1 in order to actually query rows.
I don't recall this being a problem with prior versions. Was this problem introduced in 10.12?
