Software and syncing

I recently replaced my old laptop with a new one that has Windows 7 and I replaced my old Blackberry with Torch 9860.  I downloaded the desktop software 7.0 and downloaded the device software v7.0.0.  However, I cannot synch my device now because I keep getting a message asking if I want to allow changes to the hardware for the desktop?  I answer yes. When I open the desktop software to sync, it will not connect to my device.  I am apparently not compatible with my new Windows 7.

  • Reinstall software and sync?

    I had to visit the geniuses where they detremined that I had corrupted software on my phone. The genius reinstalled the phone software and told me to sync the phone to restore all my stuff. He said not to "restore" because then that would reinstall the corrupted software. However, iTunes did not give me the option to only sync, but to "restore" or do a clean install.
    Now, I'm worried that the corrupted software is back on the phone because the problem I had (non-funtioning gps) seems to be back.
    Am I mistaken? Is there a way to reinstall the software and then restore my "stuff" without affecting the software?

    iTunes places the .ipsw file here:
    OSX:
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
    XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
    7 &Vista:
    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
    Find and delete any and all .ipsw files on your computer. There should only be one, but delete all that you find. You may have to turn on "Show All Hidden Files & Folders" to see it. Then, go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices...delete all the iPhone backups listed. Next, disable ALL firewalls & security software on your computer. Connect your phone, iTunes running hit the "Restore" button on the Summary Pane. Restore as a 'New" device. Follow this by syncing your content back to your phone.
    This will force iTunes to re-download the .ipsw file, as I suspect yours is corrupt.

    Or, if you use Wi-FI to sync music, make sure you have it enabled on your phone and wait till all the music tracks are synced.

  • When I updated Iphone software and synchronized with MacBook, newest calendar entries were deleted. Other experiences with this? If so, how do I prevent this? I have Iphone 3G

    On at least 2 occasions, when I updated Iphone software and synced with MacBook, my newest calendar events were deleted. The information in Ical and on IPhone reverted to an older version of events instead of defaulting to the new information. I know of at least 1 other person who experienced this; is this a common occurrence? What is the reason for it and the remedy? How do I prevent this from happening in the future?

    When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

    My computer died and I was able to save my palm data on the handheld and I do not have a Palm OS disc anymore. I have a new Windows 7 64 bit computer but I need to both download Palm software and sync to my new system.
    I am also nervous, not being a techie, that I may lose my data in the process, something that happened once before in a "regular" hotsync. I have connected before with a USB cradle.

    Microsoft has identified some users who are having driver related issues when trying to sync this is generally resolved by reinstalling windows mobile device center again.
    It is important that you install WMDC before connecting your device to your PC. However if you have already connected your device and received the Driver failed to install error message, you can resolve the issue by removing the devices generic RNDIS driver entry from Device Manager.
    Disconnect your device for your PC
    From the start Menu open the control panel
    Select “Hardware and Sound” then “Device Manager”
    Now connect your device to you PC so that the associated driver shows up under “Network adapter”
    Right click on the driver and select Uninstall
    At this point disconnect your device, install WMDC if you haven’t already done so and the reconnect your device. WMDC should recognize the device and complete the driver install.

    Are you trying to login to an account you already made (on an iPhone or similar) or create a new iCloud account?

  • My mac is telling me i have no software updates available, but i do! i don't have the most recent ios software and i cannot update itunes or sync my recently updated iphone without it. help!

    i am currently on the osx 5.8 operating system. I just downloaded the new iphone 5 software and cannot sync it with my itunes on this computer because it doesn't have the most current version of itunes which i discovered i cannot download without an iosx oeprating system. I have run software update 10 times, started and restarted the computer and the program. help! what do i need to do to switch over to the ios-x operating system....or whatever the most current version is called. if i have to pay for it, that's fine. i have just been routed and rerouted through the apple store trying to figure it out. can someone help me please!

    There are two different things here, an OS update and a software update.
    Mac OS X 10.5 is the version of OS while the .8 at the end is the software update (release patches)
    The most current software update for Mac OS X 10.5 is 10.5.8
    No more software updates available. You would need to upgrade the OS, which would be to Mac OS X 10.6
    Your new iPhone 5 would require iTunes 10.6 which is only available for OS X version 10.6.8 or later.
    Your would therefore need to upgrade your Macbook to this version of OS.
    It maybe brought on DVD via Apple directly (Contact Apple ) or using any good online vendor like Amazon.

    Are you sure it's not 6.1.6?  If it is, that is the latest iOS version that will work on a 4th generation iPod Touch.  Later versions require a 5G iPod which has twice as much RAM.

    Yes, you probably will but then you simply load your backup.

  • I downloaded new desktop software and try to sync with 8530 but wont sync to outlook contacts and calander

    i had blackberry desktop manager on my work computer and use to sync with outlook perfectly. 2 weeks ago i did a backup then sync as normal. i lost over half of my 600+ contacts and alot of calander listings on my phone. tried to sync again from computer to phone and lost more contacts and calander listings. so i tried to restore from the backup and lost more data. i reinstalled software from the cd i recieved last year when i purchased the 8530. the desktop software would not find outlook and would not sync. i deleted softwaqre and just downloaded new blackberry desktop software. it still will not find outlook on my computer and will not sync.
    any suggestions what i may be doing wrong on getting software to find and sync with outlook?

    First check your default services on the device under Options, Advanced Options, default services.
    If the default services are configured correctly I would suggest try creating a new MAPI profile as outlined in this article http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02083 and then reconfigure the Desktop Software as shown here http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB17022
