Software BaseLine

Good Day All.
I would like to create a Software Baseline of 14 apps in SCCM 2012 R2, then run a compliance report against that baseline to check how many clients are compliant to that software, so that i can know we need to update x amount of clients to run the baseline
software, Now the million dollar question is how do i go about to get this process up and running? I have asset intelligence up and running as well.

Using compliance settings here probably isn't the best approach since compliance items don't have a built in way to detect if software is installed or not.
Since you have AI up and running though, the data is already in the DB so there's no specific need here to re-query the systems which is what compliance settings does. Using AI, you can create a custom label and tag all of the software you are interested
in with this label. From there, the built-in reports will handle reporting which systems have software installed that has this custom label.

  • Project Difference in Labview with Serena Version Manager

We are using Serena ChangeMan Version Manager (integrated) with LabVIEW. And I was wondering if there was anyways for us to do a "Project Difference" in the LabVIEW. We need the ability to do a difference between what is in the Version Manager database and what is in the working directories. This is the most effective way to tell what changes have been made. Without this management of the software baseline will become difficult and time consuming. This is also very useful during the new development stage. There are often occasion when people have forgotten to check files in. Which cause a problem when attempting to build testers from the version manager baseline. This is easily avoided if the developer can do a difference of the development area to the version manager repository. VSS provide this feature and highlights the following in different colors: differences indicating if a file is in the repository but different from the local file, if the file is checkout, if the file does not exist in the repository or if the file exist in the repository but does not exist locally.
We are using LabVIEW 8.0 with Version Manager 8.1

    Harsh324,
So once you have Serena configured in LabVIEW are you able to right-click in the project and select Show Differences?  As mentioned in this tutorial the Graphical Differencing feature is only officially supported by Visual Source Safe and Perforce, however you may be able to get some information from this.  I am not familiar with Serena, so it could be possible that it has something similar built in as well.
Please let me know if you get any results by selecting the option from the project.  Thanks!

  • CV03n - illegal original name

    Hi !
We get an error at transaction CV03n.
Here is the step by step description :
The error appear with original names that contains ilegal charecter's like: space,#, @, etc.
I execute transaction CV03n with the following parameters :
    Document: 8004434
    type : kp2
    Part 000
    Version 01
Then i press Enter key i enter to document basic data and originals.
At that screen when i prees the ICon print to print the original - " Motherboard e-2000210001.plt " i get the folowing error mesage :
" Invalid file y:/Ts/Temp/17 Print server will be shut down "
As we can see the original name contain invalid character space. however If i try to use an original that doesn't contain an invalid character it works proper and the error doesn't appear.
We use external viewers to open our documents ( *.plt -> fastlook
*.doc -> word, *.pdf-> acrobat ). The problem of " Invalid file y:/Ts/Temp/17 Print server will be shut down " appear when i also try to open a
file that located at my local harddisk ( not at the context server ).
Meaning the error appear at the level of R3 and the external viewers
and not at the level of R3 and the context server.
So i can i solve this problem ? How can i cause the system to recognize the invalid charecter's as valid ?
    Thanks
    moshe

Hello Intern Support -- And thanks for participating in the Community. I've discussed this issue with Product Engineering and am sharing their response:
The "Illegal SSID Name!" error message will be updated in next release and will be changed to "The SSID Name including spaces (i.e. blank symbols) is illegal in this AP implementation! ". Thank you for the input.
As for the potential harm, according to some customer experiences, as well as our software baseline requirement study, "space" on SSID name will have some risks. For example, if my office announces a normal wireless SSID for Guest/Visitor, it's named "VIP". But if some guys set others AP that SSID name is "VIP ", "V I P" or " VIP" , it's too similar to"VIP". It might cause Wireless Station to associate an illegal AP unless the correct one used the encryption mode.
Thanks again for sharing your concerns and special thanks for choosing Cisco Small Business.

  • Baseline for Software Update

    Hello,
I wants to create a baseline which automatically install software updates. I can specify this software update in baseline.
Is it possible? if yes then how?

Which does not work for software updates IMHO (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh219289.aspx): "Remediate
noncompliant rules when supported – Enable this option to automatically remediate any rules that are noncompliant
for Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), the registry, scripts, and all settings for mobile devices that are enrolled by Configuration Manager."
    Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de
Agree, I'm aware of that statement, and I've never personally used it. My assumption is that it does work, because I've had customers telling me that MCS advised them to use it with remediation. Also, here is a blog post of someone using it:

I have a 3 year old MacBook Pro with MAC OSX 10.6.8, iPhoto ’09 version 8.1.2 and have downloaded two software programs: one is Aperture 3.2 and the other is Photoshop Elements 9 (which I got from a friend who didn’t need it).
I am totally happy with the way iPhoto organizes my photos and how I can work with iMovie to create slide shows with music from iTunes, etc.
I have been shooting mostly high resolution jpegs and I continue to learn more and more about photography, post processing etc. I realize that the small adjustments I can make in iPhoto are good, and are adequate most of the time. However, a have started to experiment with shooting RAW images and would like to go the next step, ie. post processing.I am totally technically challenged and need SIMPLE, INTUITIVE programs and am certainly NOT anywhere ready for Photoshop CS whatever!
After having these programs sit on my computer, I decided to try to see if I could figure them out. When I opened Aperture, this is what first comes up.
    “Welcome to Aperture 3.2
Your library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of Aperture. Once upgraded, you will not be able to use this library with previous versions of Aperture.
Upgrading a library from previous versions of Aperture 3 generally takes a few minutes or less, though larger libraries will take longer. After that, Aperture 3.2 will upgrade your library's thumbnails, but you can use the application during that time.
Tip: To open a different library, quit Aperture and hold the Option key down while starting Aperture
    Current Library Location:
    Jadzia (home)   -----Pictures------Aperture Library
                                                      QUIT             UPGRADE”
I have heard horror stories  about moving your entire library to Aperture, ending up with 2 libraries, etc. etc. hence my previous reluctance in attempting Aperture. In addition, many of my photography friends are saying: Go with Lightroom 3.....you’ll love it!
So here is my dilemma.  I don’t want to mess around with my iPhoto library. All I want to be able to do, is to isolate a few photos, export them to Aperture, Elements, and work on them there, then bring them back into iPhoto.
Can I do this? Should I forget about Aperture and Elements and look at purchasing yet another program like Lightroom?

Export those few photos via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Original to the Desktop.  Then import them into the Aperture library. That would keep one copy in your iPhoto library and another in your Aperture library to edit, etc.
You can use Photoshop Elements 9 from within iPhoto as your editor of choice. However, if you edit a raw file in iPhoto with PSE9 the resulting edited version must be saved outside the iPhoto Library and imported back in as a new file.  For editing jpegs just do a Save (not a Save As) and it all will be kept within iPhoto.
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • Server Autorestart after software updates at a specific time - advice needed please

    Hi
I am implementing server software updates.  I want them to install updates and restart on the 2nd Thursday of the month.
    so in theory:
    collection 1 restarts between 1am and 2am
    collection 2 restarts between 3am and 4am
Collections 1 and 2 will look at the same software update groups of baseline and production and the updates will be manually put into these groups before the restart date.  There will be a test server group that will use a automatic deployment
rule and install and restart on patch Tuesday as well which is where the updates will come from.  Days will vary but I cant quite grasp the initial implementation of the timed install and restarts.
How can I best accomplish this?
    Thank You

Yeah sorted thanks, im not really working toward firm dates as yet I just wanted to know if it can be done but my times needed to be wider as the system may run out of time before being able to process all the servers in the given window space.

  • Baseline update keeps failing due to forge class path issues ?

I'm trying ATG 10.2 setup with Endeca 3.1.2, discover store runs fine, but when I try to run baseline update on ATG CRS store, I see a NoClassDefFound error on slf4j libraries.  I'm not very familiar with endeca, so please let me know if my approach does not make sense.
First I looked at baseline_update.sh and see it's calling runcommand.sh.  So I did an echo on the last line of runcommand.sh and I can see slf4j api's getting included...

  • Apple TV Software 2.4 and "HDCP Off"

My Apple TV worked fine until I upgraded the software to 2.4. Now, no HD material will play, citing an HDCP problem. I checked the settings, and under Settings>General>About, I can see that the TV
Connection is set at HDM (HDCP off). And there's no way I can see to turn it on.
Any ideas? Or do we just wait for a software upgrade?
    Thanks.

I've actually gotten a bit extreme. I've unplugged all cables, including power cables, and have left the equipment off for the night. The next morning, I've plugged everything back, and still no HD on the Apple TV.
My baseline is the satellite dish -- all the cables I'm using work with the satellite (in HD), and both the of the HDMI slots on the television work with the satellite dish (in HD).
And the Apple TV works fine for SD material purchased from the Apple Store -- but not HD material purchased from the Apple Store. And my ATV settings show HDCP to be off.
I also checked my manual for the television, and there is no way to turn HDCP on (or off).

  • SAP Best Practice Baseline upgrade.

    Dear All,
Im quite confuse here. I install SAP BP Baseline v1.603 (Malaysia) using system copy. Everything working find and now i try to upgrade it to SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4..May i know is it possible to upgrade to EHP4 for this best practices because i cannot see the content upgrade for EHP4 available for Malaysia. Can i use SAPEhpi to upgrade it to EHP4? or maybe SAP Best practices not allowed to upgrade to EHP4.
    Thank you

    Dear Muhamad,
It is possible to upgrade to EHP4.
SAP BP Baseline v1.603 is based on ERP6.0 EHP3.
You can refer to the following comments in note 1301301:
In order to allow you making use of functions and features
provided withhigher SAP ERP enhancement package versions, in a
system upfront set-up via SAP BP package activation based at
least on "SAP ERP 6.03", please follow the below mentioned steps
to bring your system to the desired enhancement pack level:
    -  System set-up according to the requirements stated in the
QuickGuide of the SAP BP package to be activated
    -  SAP BP package has been activated with the required scope
    -  System update using SAP EhPI to the wanted enhancement package
       level
    -  Technically SAP provides a so called "Vendor Key" for SAP EhPI
updates of systems containing SAP BP add-ons. This is only to
ensure that the update is technically completed. When SAP EhPI
asks for a decision regarding installed add-ons, choose "KEEP"
for the SAP BP add-ons. In the next step a vendor key has to
       be provided.
For technical reasons, vendor keys are specific for the "start
release" the update is performed from:
SAP EhPI updates on system based on SAP_BASIS 700 - column "Key
    (700)"
SAP EhPI updates on system based on SAP_BASIS 701 - column "Key
    (701)"
If a vendor key does not fit at all or a software component is
not listed below, create a customer message on component
    BC-UPG-ADDON.
SW Component      Key (700)            Key (701)
    BP-ERP05          1831003              2899480
    BP-INSTASS        2056515              2031478
    "IMPORTANT NOTE" :
The functionality of the already installed SAP BP add-ons based
on the previous SAP application version - the activation of a SAP
BP package based on the previous SAP application version - can NO
LONGER BE USED. But of course the functionality of the new SAP
application version as such can be used.
But just as mentioned in this note,
you can use the vendor key to continue with the EHP4 update, but the
version BP-ERP05 is NOT compatible with EHP4(note 1226284).
Therefore, do not use BP-ERP05 on EHP4. You should install the
latest version of BP add-on version for ERP6.0 EHP4.

Can you please assist with the below queries:

    2. Can I Install and activate best practices for 1 client of Sandbox system and then perform the client copies to development to quality to production? Will this work?
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks.
    Best regards,

    Hi,
    > 1. Do I need to Install/Activate Best Practices software / building blocks for each client of every system?
No, you need to need to activate in all clients. Just activate this in one client and create another clietns with copy from this client.
    > 2. Can I Install and activate best practices for 1 client of Sandbox system and then perform the client copies to development to >quality to production? Will this work?
    >
Don't copy development client in production client. You should activate it manually in production system. I will recommend same to you for quality system as well.
    Thanks

  • BASELINE PACKAGE - V1-V2.603 and Best Practices for Pharmaceuticals

    Hi All,
             > Recently we have upgraded to EHP4 stack 4
             > I am trying to install BASELINE PACKAGE - V1-V2.603 I chose that because its localized for India.
             > When i am trying to install  BP-ERP05 603V7 and BP-INSTASS 600V7 its asking for BBPCRM 600, BBPCRM
                700 and SAP_APPL 600, SAP_APPL 603.
             > Why does the installer ask for lower versions? ofcourse i have read that if the version is Higher than the one mentioned
in the "Quick Guide to Installing the SAP Best Practices Baseline Package (IN)" will not work.
             > But do we have any BaseLine Packages Specific to EHP4?
             > If not, then could any one tell me where and how to download and install the BBPCRM as an add-on.
             > I only need that Software component because I strongly feel that all the interdependencies are linked with this one only.
Any help and suggestions are welcome.
    Regards,
    Antony Chaitanya.

    Hi Sunny,
Thanks very much for your response.
The major problem that i am having is I some how did not include the BBPCRM software component or the related software components for CRM at the time of upgrade is my best guess.
So, the latest add ons BP-CRM60 600V3 and BP-CRM70 700V1 or the add ons BP-ERP05 600VD/ 603V7 along with that BP-INSTASS 600V7 are not able to install because the prerequisite are not meeting. Only BP-INSTASS 600V1 got installed.
Can any one tell me how and what to do now.... plzzz???
Things like how to get the CRM related s/w components installed or if there is a work around to get the Baseline Packages (IN) activated with out the CRM.
    Regards,
    Antony Chaitanya.

  • Photo Software Question

I'm very new at this Mac computer system and would really appreciate if someone can educate me on photo software. I know how to use the edit part of Iphoto but I want to be able to create pictures with alot more editing options. Example; Say i have a picture of a baby and I want everything in that picture to be black and white except her hat being pink.. how can I do that. I know professional photographers have ways of doing everything but I want to do it myself. Is there one software that is better then the other? Should I download the ones on this site or go to the Apple store and ask them for software?
    Any suggestions would be great!
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There is a demo of PSE 6 for Macintosh. With it you can do advanced edits like this and this.
If you do purchase PSE here are some tips on using it with iPhoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.
