Software Block after BOGUS install

My colleague borrowed my macbook pro and installed a bootleg version of iLife '08 and now none of my PURCHASED Apple applications function.
Anyone with any clue as to what to remove to reactivate applications?
I am an honest person, and would never have allowed this guy to do this.
HELP! I need help to gregain use of my computer, and he needs help to save his !@#$&)!)@*!!! life!

I tried the unistall, but it seems that the block is originated after logging onto the internet, something in the background justifiably run by Apple.

    Hi @Boukou ,
    Thank you for your  inquiry.
I understand that after updating to Windows 8.1 you no longer have the Beats Audio software.
You should be able to download an updated audio driver from HP Pavilion 15-p011sv Software & Drivers page .
This should reinstall your Beats software.
    Good Luck!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

  • Software Updates after lion install?

After Installing Lion, my computer ran a software update check.  After the updates, imovie and garage band did not work.  So I tried the update again and clicked show details, it listed imovie and garage band updates, there is a check box next to them, but I can't click the check box.  So right now imovie and garage band remain broken.  Any thoughts?

try restarting the computer and the selecting software update from the apple menu, having no other apps open, and click install all, if any fail deselect them and do the other ones, restarting the and doing the ones tht failed after installing the ones that worked

  • Safari 4 missing from Software Update after fresh install of OS X?

    This seems a little odd...
I recently reset my unibody MacBook Pro with a fresh install of OS X 10.5.6 but, after restarting and going to Software Update, Safari 4 is not showing up in the list of available updates! Version 3.2.1 gets installed but doesn't show any updates? It did last week, but now it's gone?
I know I can download it without using Software Update, I just thought it was strange that it didn't show up. Anyone else noticed this?

  • Missing Software Instrument after Leo Install

    Just a quick prelude...
While updating from Tiger to Leo with Archive and Install, the install crapped out on a bad printer driver (some kind of error about a Lexmark printer drivee and then restarted).
Well because of the error, I could not do anything but a clean install because the previous install had already gotten to the point of creating the Previous Systems folder.
So, I install Leo and start the ARDUOUS task of reinstalling my software. I start my iLive 08 install from the DVD (since Leo does not come with iLife), and installed Jam Packs 1 through 6, and everything seemed to have go OK. UNTIL, I started up Garageband and a number of software instruments are now grayed out. And they all seem to be Sftw instrument that have been there since GB1.
i.e. In the track Info panel, under the Sftw inst button, if I select "Garageband", the vast majority of the instrument are grayed out: ALL the Guitars, Synth Textures & Woodwinds are grayed, and maybe only a couple instruments available (BLACK) in the other categories.
Since these BASE instrument did not get installed, I can only assume that, A) they are not included in iLife '08, or B) something is going hinky in the install.
I have tried the install twice, and they is zero change in the status of the base instruments.
Can anyone help me getting this base instrument reinstalled.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
FYI - I had iLife 08 installed in Tiger and all the instruments were there. I have searched the entire drive with Spotlight and EasyFind and the missing sftw instr are not anywhere on the drive, not even in the Previous Systems folder. And, yes I have checked the Garageband folders in both the system Library and the old and new user library.

    Thanks.
Maybe it was too late in the morning, or maybe it was because I was up for 40 hrs dealing with all the complications that occur when an upgrade install craps out on you.... whatever the reason, I could not see the custom install on 4 different re-installs of iLife '08.. UNTIL... you said "do a custom install"!
I swear, I was so frustrated because I could not find the custom install, and I was sure there should be one!..
Oh, well. Guess I just needed some sleep to clear up the goggles...
Still missing a few Sftw instruments though, and I can't seem to figure out where they came from initially. i.e. Guitos (a big bongo often used in latin bands). I used the have it, have song tracks set to use it, but now it is gone from the sfwr inst list completely. I checked the docs for each jam pack, and I can't find it listed either - maybe that goggle thing again.
Have you heard of this instr, and if so, do you know which jam pack it came from?
Well, back to fixing the 400 other items that screwed up when the upgrade failed. At least I got FCS2 reinstalled without too many issues, except NONE of the APPLE templates are showing up in DVDSP, although ALL my custom templates are listed just fine.
    Curiouser and curiouser...
    Thanks again.

  • OEM software lost after fresh install?

First of all - thanks to the whole community for the help I've gotten by simply browsing these forums.
Now, to my problem: My Powerbook had 10.3 installed when I got it, including OEM software like Omni Outliner and some image viewer I can't remember the name of(*), both of which I loved.
(* edit: I think GraphicConverter, but am not sure where I got it from)
Two weeks ago my hard drive gave up, and I now have a new one installed. I then installed 10.4. Now I'd love to get the Outliner and the other apps back, but am clueless as to where I could get them from.
    Thanks for the help,
    Petri

Thanks for the pointer; I found the versions of iMovie and iPhoto that came with the PB with this method. The other programs I was looking for are still nowhere to be found, but I've decided my time is worth something and bought new licences for the ones I really used.

  • Cannot Install Software Update after a Clean Install

I did a clean install of 10.5. I ran the initial Software Update and proceeded to install all the available updates including Version 10.5.4. I installed some software and later did another Software Update check. There were 2 more updates available.
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 1 adds support for Java SE 6
    Security Update 2008-005 (Leopard)
I rebooted the iMac as requested and the Software Update window appeared. I checked both updates and proceeded. The progress bar proceeded about 1/8 of the way with the message Installing 2 items.... Configuring Installation. This appeared to hang there and I left it running overnight. When I looked at it again, the progress bar had not moved. I then tried each one separately, still using the Software Update. Same problem only that the Java update showed the progress bar 1 / 2 the way and is hanging there.
I verified the disk and it was okay. I have used the iMac for almost 2 years and have never had a problem with the Software Update.
Here is the last entry in the install log which seems to indicate the install was done, but the Software Update Window is still there with the "Installing 1 Item" message and I cannot stop the process or force quit it.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I guess I should be careful how I word my posts.
I should have said I resolved the problem that I had. The solution to the problem was to do a manual download of the updates. That worked without a hitch and while solving the immediate problem did not help me understand why automatic updates failed to properly install the identical files.

It is a relatively new iMac purchased from Apple in early 07. Yes, it was a a Retail Version of OS X 10.5 that I purchased when I upgraded 10.4, I have seen this problem many times in Windows, but never experienced it in the almost 2 years of mac usage. I guess I am not the only one having problems as there is a similar post made several hours after mine.

  • Confused after re-install of OS... Base software not th

After I re-installed windows due to some issues I was having, I've not been able to get my sound card right. I don't need a PC if my sound card ain't right. LOL
After install of the drivers and everything else I can find to install, I don't have any of my original tools. Like smart recorder, wave editor, surround sound mixer, THX setup.
Now should those have been part of the drivers or should I have those on a CD? I've got all my CD's except the driver CD. LOL I never even installed the games, some of them look pretty nice too.
Now hopefully they are included the drivers. If so I need to re-install Windows XP Pro again. I'm pretty sure the later versions of spyware doctor screw up my pc. Not it alone, NOD32 and Spyware doctor are not getting along, I THINK.
When I re-installed, I did all my updates and then I installed NOD32 and Spyware Doctor (not their virus edition) and I started noticing problems pretty fast. My Logetch Orbit is greyscale, not black and wight, grey scale. I tried to play an online game Second Life and it wont run, complaining about my vid card not having at least 32Mb of mem. It's got 64 but it is an older card. GeForce3.
I've upgraded to the latest version of Acti'veX just to make sure that wasn't it.
I deleted the sound card and re-installed. Again no go.
Am I just missing the software I should be installing or should those drivers have installed the other basics like surround sound mixer. I can't function without that. My life is over. LOL I do a little amateur "DJing" so I do need my sound card.
Oh it is an Audigy 4Pro. Windows XP is legal. (SP2). Intel 2.0Ghz, I don't remember the chipset off hand but I doubt I need that. If I screwed up any where it was installing both of those programs Spyware Doctor was a nice program but for me, it seems to be causing problems now. I'll just leave NOD32 off the next re-install.
It hasn't been that long since I installed and I'm all nice and backed up so it wont be a big issue for me to do that. I just don't want it to be a waste of my time if I'm just missing the install software. I'm old, I need new RAM.
Can't think of anything else but I'm sure I left something out.
    Thanks for the help.

Maybe I made that too wordy...
After installing the drivings, should the normal windows icon for sound card properties be gone and replaced with sound blaster icon and the surround sound mixer should be present?
If not, where I can I get core programs.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    { launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -f -a TextEdit
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/{la,mach}* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • I install Software but after reboot-not showing up

The standalone Sound Blaster XFi driver is the actual program called "Sound Blaster XFi" right?
Okay heres the situation. I was having Video Card issues, I just replaced my Video card but I had to take out my Sound Card to hook it up.
Later on I noticed my sound was a bit off so when I used the speaker test; they werent coming out of the right speakers, so I mess around with the hook ups but it still wasnt working.
I take out the Sound Card and re seat it, but then Windows Vista wasnt even detecting my sound card; grrrr at that point I noticed my "Volume Panel" icon isnt located near my clock anymore; so I decided to go to Add/Remove programs and remove Sound Blaster XFi and re install it so I can get that icon back.
Well after I install the XFi drivers, windows reboots, and my sound is good; they are coming from the right speakers but my icon near taskbar isnt.
And when I go to Add/Remove Sound Blaster XFi isnt listed.
I re installed it, rebooted and it still isnt showing up.
As I'm writing this. I'm removing everything, everything related to Creative, everything related to Sound Blaster and this time I will just insert my CD that came with the card, install everything that way, then install the correct drivers and software.
I'm curious though, isnt the XFi driver the application that installs that Volume Panel Icon near the clock? Isnt the XFi driver application the one that installs a program called "Sound Blaster XFi"? cause after 2 installs it isnt showing up at all
    Thanks

Long and tedious but phew; its finally done.
Everything is installed that I want. Sound is working properly
As I said; I removed everything Creative and everything Sound Blaster (even edited Registry), inserted CD that came with Card; installed everything, then re installed the current drivers/applications

  • Can I run a windows software program taht is on a CD on my macbook pro after I install bootcamp and windows xp home?

Can I run a windows software program that is on a CD on my macbook pro after I install bootcamp and windows xp home?

    genepaquin,
the last MacBook Pros that supported installing Windows XP in a Boot Camp partition are the Mid 2010 models. If your MacBook Pro is newer than that, and you don’t have a newer version of Windows to install into a Boot Camp partition on your MacBook Pro, then you might consider an alternative such as running Windows with the help of programs such as VirtualBox or Parallels Desktop rather than through Boot Camp.

  • Quicktime not working after re-installing software?

    Hi,
After re-installing my mac os system my quicktime 7 player isn't working correctly.
It won't play movies or tv shows i have saved on my external hard drives. At first there was audio and no video so i installed the Xvid component which never worked so i took that out. Then came no video or audio, just a black screen yet the timer ran on so i then installed the Xvid component again (from a prompt) and i now have video but still no sound. Why is this? It all worked perfectly before.
Also quicktime works fine in iphoto but will not play the movie Star Trek i have stored in itunes. It was a digital copy from a Blu-ray edition. It plays another movie i have in itunes just not Star Trek.
    I'm scratching my head here.......
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    J.

    Hi
You are right. The A100-712 supports definitely Bluetooth.
So you should be able to install the BT stack properly.
As mentioned; the BT can be enabled properly using FN + F8 and the installation starts as well, but it does not finish
Hmm Im not quite sure what could cause this but maybe its system software problem.
I think its worth to recover the notebook once again
Then enable the BT and check if the progress bar would start and could finish the installation.
